0:00:09 > 0:00:11Good evening.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14People in Hull and parts of East Yorkshire could be `sked

0:00:14 > 0:00:18if they want fluoride adding to tap water to reduce dental problems

0:00:18 > 0:00:20Four out of every ten young children in Hull have tooth decay.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25Phillip Norton reports.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28This is what tooth decay looks like and it is a problem

0:00:28 > 0:00:31right across the country.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Dentists in Hull say they'rd seeing this too often.

0:00:33 > 0:00:40So could adding fluoride to drinking water be the answer?

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Peter Riding is a dentist and thinks it could help.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Hull has a very poor record for dental health and adding one

0:00:45 > 0:00:48part per million to the watdr would make a big difference.

0:00:48 > 0:00:57It would reduce the tooth ddcay in the area by about 40%.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Public Health England say more than 40% of five-year-olds

0:01:00 > 0:01:01in Hull have tooth decay.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03That's higher than the national average of 28%.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05But in Lincoln where fluoride has been added to water supplies,

0:01:05 > 0:01:09the figure is 23%.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13Water fluoridation can be a divisive topic though with critics arguing

0:01:13 > 0:01:16it is a type of mass medication and even dentists can't agrde,

0:01:16 > 0:01:21but the ruling Labour Group on Hull City Council has agreed that

0:01:21 > 0:01:26plans to introduce fluoride should move ahead.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30With supplies in Hull though also running through some

0:01:30 > 0:01:33parts of the East Riding, how do people in East Yorkshire

0:01:33 > 0:01:34feel about the idea?

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Well, I have fluoride in my toothpaste.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39I don't know how it affects you if you've got extra.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42I don't really know too much about that, I'd have to look

0:01:42 > 0:01:45in to see what that would mdan for my family and my childrdn.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Personally I agree with it - I always have.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50I've just come from the dentists and I've still got a smile!

0:01:50 > 0:01:55Programmes to promote good oral health already exist

0:01:55 > 0:01:56in some schools.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Plans to take that a step ftrther and add fluoride to the watdring

0:01:59 > 0:02:02hole are still in the early stages with a public consultation dxpected

0:02:02 > 0:02:12to be held next year.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16A large-scale rescue was carried out after three kayakers got

0:02:16 > 0:02:19into trouble in the North Sda near Flamborough this afternoon

0:02:19 > 0:02:21They were helped by two lifdboats, coastguards and a search

0:02:21 > 0:02:22and rescue helicopter.

0:02:22 > 0:02:30No one was seriously hurt.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Two men have been arrested after armed police and a helicopter

0:02:33 > 0:02:35were called to an incident hn Lincolnshire.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37It happened at Mill Close in Billinghay this morning.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Police surrounded a car after receiving reports that a man

0:02:39 > 0:02:42was in possession of a fire`rm.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Tourism leaders in Yorkshird and Lincolnshire say they'rd worried

0:02:44 > 0:02:47that Brexit could lead to a shortage of workers.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49It's been a good year for tourism across the area.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But around half the industrx's workforce are EU migrants and some

0:02:52 > 0:02:53bosses fear staff may leave the UK.

0:02:53 > 0:03:02More from our Political Editor Tim Iredale.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Enjoying the sights of historic Lincoln are Canadian

0:03:05 > 0:03:07tourists, Megan and Regan.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09A record number of visitors are flocking to Lincolnshird,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11many from overseas.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14What's your impression of Lincoln so far?

0:03:14 > 0:03:16It's very impressive. The architecture is unbelievable.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Yeah, I'm just loving the quaint, small old town.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22We haven't been into the new area but we've just

0:03:22 > 0:03:25started walking around.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27The plummeting pound means ht's more expensive for Brits

0:03:27 > 0:03:29to travel abroad but, in many cases, it's cheaper

0:03:30 > 0:03:34for overseas tourists to cole here.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37So will that benefit East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

0:03:37 > 0:03:39I'm sure it will, particularly along the coast, I think.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42But even here people will bd, if you're only getting

0:03:42 > 0:03:44one euro to your pound, you will think, I will

0:03:44 > 0:03:46come to Lincolnshire.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49The Americans are particularly interested in Magna Carta,

0:03:49 > 0:03:53and all the rest of it so wd do get a lot of people from overse`s

0:03:53 > 0:03:56but a lot of people now from the rest of the countrx.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59Tourism is worth more than ?8 billion a year

0:03:59 > 0:04:04to the combined economies of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

0:04:04 > 0:04:09It employs around 250,000 pdople.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11It's estimated that around half of the workers in the industry come

0:04:11 > 0:04:13from other EU countries, which has raised questions

0:04:13 > 0:04:18about recruitment after Brexit.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21Many hospitality businesses rely upon seasonal labour from Etrope

0:04:21 > 0:04:24and from other parts of the world and clearly they want some clarity

0:04:24 > 0:04:27as to what the rules will bd and what status those peopld

0:04:27 > 0:04:29will be, will they still be able to work in their

0:04:30 > 0:04:31businesses going forwards?

0:04:31 > 0:04:32I'm a qualified accountant back in Hungary.

0:04:32 > 0:04:40I came to England 13 years `go looking for new opportunitids.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44I just hope it's going to bd an easy way for me to stay.

0:04:44 > 0:04:46They can't send us home, otherwise I think the country

0:04:46 > 0:04:48is going to collapse because there are so many

0:04:48 > 0:04:50people from East Europe working here and they keep

0:04:50 > 0:04:51the country going.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Ministers say talk of a recruitment crisis is premature

0:04:53 > 0:04:59but like much of the specul`tion about the post-Brexit

0:04:59 > 0:05:06landscape, no one quite knows what's on the horizon.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08And the impact of Brexiton tourism will be discussed on this

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And the impact of Brexit on tourism will be discussed on this

0:05:12 > 0:05:13weekend's Sunday Politics.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15That from 11am on BBC One.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Experts have been examining the carcass of a 40-foot fin whale

0:05:17 > 0:05:19washed up on a beach in North Norfolk.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22Earlier this year the bodies of six young sperm whales were found

0:05:22 > 0:05:23on East Coast beaches.

0:05:23 > 0:05:24Kim Riley reports

0:05:24 > 0:05:26As the tide slipped back from the beach, the lifeless

0:05:26 > 0:05:29hulk of the giant mammal was exposed once more.

0:05:29 > 0:05:31The fin whale a rare visitor to North Sea shores,

0:05:31 > 0:05:34a steady stream of visitors came to see it.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38It is really sad and just to see it there in its state of disrepair

0:05:38 > 0:05:41it just evokes nothing but sadness and we had to come and see ht.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43It is desperately sad on beach like this.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46What can you say?

0:05:46 > 0:05:49This afternoon a team from the Cetacean Strandings

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Investigation Programme basdd at London Zoo arrived to carry out

0:05:52 > 0:05:58a postmortem to find out more about the whale and why it died

0:05:58 > 0:06:01We can say at this stage it looks like it is a female.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03I can't tell exactly because that area is underw`ter

0:06:03 > 0:06:04It's obviously a young anim`l.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08The females get much bigger than this.

0:06:08 > 0:06:12It appears to be pretty thin, nutritionally compromhsed

0:06:12 > 0:06:15There is a couple of things we have in the back of our mind

0:06:15 > 0:06:16which might be driving that.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20We'll hopefully learn more `s we go through the course of the afternoon.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22After the postmortem, the body of the whale

0:06:22 > 0:06:23becomes the responsibility of Natural England

0:06:23 > 0:06:27who lease this land.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30It told us it has been in touch with specialist contractors

0:06:30 > 0:06:34whole be charged with removing it from the beach.

0:06:48 > 0:06:49than we've been used to tod`y.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52At the moment we have got one or two showers pushing in
