:01:35. > :01:36.Not just for myself but for the other 248

:01:37. > :01:40.victims of St William, and probably many more.

:01:41. > :01:42.It's not about compensation, it's about justice and recognition

:02:24. > :02:30.Those acting on behalf of victims say they will appeal.

:02:31. > :02:33.It's become a bit of a war of attrition, has this case,

:02:34. > :02:36.and I'm confident that the evidence that I've heard, the men crying

:02:37. > :02:40.in my office about their cases, means that we will succeed

:02:41. > :02:45.I still have to live the nightmares of all this.

:02:46. > :02:48.It's the worst feeling you can have to be called a liar

:02:49. > :02:58.Nigel Feeley was 13 when he was sent to the St Williams approved

:02:59. > :03:03.His case for compensation's still to be heard.

:03:12. > :03:15.The former chaplain was jailed in January

:03:16. > :03:24.Today's judgment hasn't given Nigel hope he will ever be compensated.

:03:25. > :03:36.Deflated, disappointed, but they remain determined

:03:37. > :03:40.and hopeful that the last judgment in this case will rule in their

:03:41. > :03:51.Illegal cigarettes could have played a part in a house fire that

:03:52. > :03:54.killed three Polish men in Spalding in Lincolnshire.

:04:10. > :04:12.The 18th-century listed building was being rented out

:04:13. > :04:22.It's one of the worst fires I've attended in terms

:04:23. > :04:29.Witnesses say the men who died had been drinking heavily all day.

:04:30. > :04:35.The inquest heard that the three men were all more than four times over

:04:36. > :04:42.the legal drink-drive limit when they died.

:04:43. > :04:45.Witnesses said the men would regularly cover the smoke

:04:49. > :04:51.so they could smoke indoors, something that was against

:04:52. > :04:56.The building was so badly damaged, little evidence of how the fire

:05:13. > :05:18.Those that were recovered failed the safety tests.

:05:19. > :05:21.It's not definitive, there's no such thing as,

:05:22. > :05:25."Can a fire-safe cigarette cause a fire?"

:05:26. > :05:30.But the likelihood is a lot less by using shop-bought

:05:31. > :05:35.Lincolnshire Trading Standards says it's a continuing problem.

:05:36. > :05:38.Trading Standards do work really hard to partner

:05:39. > :05:41.with Lincolnshire Police to tackle the issue, but it is one

:05:42. > :05:46.that we currently have seven investigations pending for.

:05:47. > :06:00.South Lincolnshire Coroner Murray Spittal told the inquest: "The blood

:06:01. > :06:03.The coroner's conclusion was that the men died by misadventure.

:06:04. > :06:07.But by habitually disabling smoke detectors, they may have denied

:06:08. > :06:17.themselves early warning of the fire that claimed their lives.

:06:27. > :06:30.following a critical report by the Care Quality Commission.

:06:31. > :06:35.The last of the 19 residents moved out today.

:06:36. > :06:38.Grimsby's Ice Arena is to close for good, ending more than 80 years

:06:39. > :06:52.The decision was taken at a meeting this afternoon,

:06:53. > :06:54.with councillors blaming the increasing costs

:06:55. > :06:58.They've been talking about this since 2009,

:06:59. > :07:02.Well, it's finally come down to money - as simple as that.

:07:03. > :07:05.There's been an ice rink at that site in Grimsby since 1975.

:07:06. > :07:08.But over the last few years, it's become clear it's not

:07:09. > :07:11.bringing in enough money, so it's costing too much to run.

:07:12. > :07:14.Now, if we look back at some of the events of recent years,

:07:15. > :07:16.in 2009 there were plans to knock it down.

:07:17. > :07:18.That was stopped by a petition with more than 32,000 signatures.

:07:19. > :07:20.Later that same year, while they were still

:07:21. > :07:22.debating its future, the ice rink received

:07:23. > :07:25.official recognition for the quality of its lessons

:07:26. > :07:28.from the National Iceskating Association.

:07:29. > :07:30.But in June 2014, the ice rink's cooling system failed,

:07:31. > :07:36.At that stage, the council did put in a temporary ice

:07:37. > :07:39.pad costing ?200,000, and they said they were looking for

:07:40. > :07:46.They haven't found anyone who can take over without

:07:47. > :07:51.And they say that at the same time as they've been dealing

:07:52. > :07:53.with government funding cuts, this means the ice rink

:07:54. > :07:57.There's just no money to be found, we just didn't have the funding,

:07:58. > :07:59.and I've said earlier on, because of the Government taking

:08:00. > :08:02.such large amounts of our funding now, and I'm talking

:08:03. > :08:04.about 70 million now in the last six years,

:08:05. > :08:07.we're just finding it very difficult now to provide the services

:08:08. > :08:11.What do people think the impact of this decision will be?

:08:12. > :08:14.There's a lot of sadness amongst people who use the ice rink.

:08:15. > :08:16.There was a protest today before the council meeting.

:08:17. > :08:18.100 or so people went along to try to convince

:08:19. > :08:22.But in the end it was a unanimous decision.

:08:23. > :08:25.Thousands of people visit the rink every year and those that will be

:08:26. > :08:28.most affected by this are probably the hockey clubs for both children

:08:29. > :08:39.There's at least four or five ice hockey teams that

:08:40. > :08:44.And it's a long way to go to the nearest

:08:45. > :08:46.ice rink from here - the nearest one

:08:47. > :08:53.You can't expect people to travel there two or three times a week.

:08:54. > :08:56.So basically, you close down the rink, you deprive

:08:57. > :09:04.them of their sport and their recreational activities.

:09:05. > :09:06.So the protesters say they'll continue to fight this.

:09:07. > :09:07.They're hoping the scrutiny committee will overturn

:09:08. > :09:12.And to be fair to the council, they say they will keep looking

:09:13. > :09:15.for someone to take over the rink and run it commercially.

:09:16. > :09:19.But if that doesn't happen, the rink will have to close

:09:20. > :09:32.We've certainly had a big response to that story tonight. We will

:09:33. > :09:35.report back on that tomorrow. Hull's Ferens Art Gallery now has

:09:36. > :09:38.an opening date following its ?4.5 Visitors will be able to see

:09:39. > :09:41.the gallery's collection Paintings and sculptures started

:09:42. > :09:44.being returned to the building two weeks ago following 15 months

:09:45. > :10:07.of work to improve lighting Not a bad day to come tomorrow. Most

:10:08. > :10:13.of us dry with some sunshine. The Christmas Day, a number of isobars,

:10:14. > :10:17.meaning fairly widespread gales. Temperatures into double figures, so

:10:18. > :10:22.feeling mild as well. Just one or two isolated showers in the West,

:10:23. > :10:27.otherwise dry with clear periods overnight tonight. A few icy patches

:10:28. > :10:32.possible on untreated services tomorrow. A lovely sunny start and a

:10:33. > :10:39.breezy day with one or two showers. -- untreated surfaces. Mostly fine

:10:40. > :10:43.with a good deal of sunshine. Feeling chilly with temperatures up

:10:44. > :10:50.to six or seven. A very windy day on Friday with heavy rain later on.

:10:51. > :10:52.That's it from us. We are back tomorrow morning as always at

:10:53. > :11:00.6:25am. See you then. Good night. good for us. Mild by the time we

:11:01. > :11:03.reach Christmas Day. Hello there, there is wet and very

:11:04. > :11:08.windy weather on Hello there, there is wet and very

:11:09. > :11:11.windy weather on the way in the run-up to Christmas. The worst of

:11:12. > :11:17.the weather to the northern half of the UK. We have a strengthening jet

:11:18. > :11:21.out of North America that is propgating across the Atlantic.

:11:22. > :11:24.Rushing our way. Picking up low pressure, deepening them, tracking

:11:25. > :11:29.them to the north-west of Scotland, hence the wind and rain. Tonight, we

:11:30. > :11:32.have gale force winds in the north-west of Scotland. Wintry

:11:33. > :11:37.showers here. There is still come rain to clear from the south-east.

:11:38. > :11:41.It will go. The skies will clear. We get patchy fog in the south-east of

:11:42. > :11:44.England. Chilly where skies clear, particularly in the countryside, not

:11:45. > :11:46.far away from freezing. Further north we keep the showers going

:11:47. > :11:47.through the night and into
