:00:18. > :00:20.to get hold of millions of pounds of European funding

:00:21. > :00:24.There's no guarantee the grants for small rural businesses

:00:25. > :00:30.A couple of months ago, Mike realised his dream.

:00:31. > :00:35.he set up a micro-brewery on a farm in Fiskerton.

:00:36. > :00:40.One of the reasons for applying for the funding was that we saw

:00:41. > :00:44.an opportunity to build a bigger project that would allow us

:00:45. > :00:49.to employ people within the local area and ensure that we grew

:00:50. > :00:55.The grant came from what's called the leader scheme,

:00:56. > :00:58.money from the European Union specifically designed to help

:00:59. > :01:04.Around ?6 million of leader funding is available across Lincolnshire.

:01:05. > :01:08.People can apply for grants, typically around ?25,000,

:01:09. > :01:11.for projects which will boost the rural economy, anything

:01:12. > :01:15.from tourism, to local produce, to heritage.

:01:16. > :01:22.The brewery may do so again if it wants to expand but the current

:01:23. > :01:29.The Brexit vote has created some uncertainty over what happens next.

:01:30. > :01:32.I don't know what arrangements will be made in the future for EU

:01:33. > :01:37.funding but obviously funding like this does help businesses.

:01:38. > :01:41.It certainly helped our business and we are spending that money wisely.

:01:42. > :01:46.Without it we wouldn't be employing the people we intend to employ.

:01:47. > :01:50.Who gets the EU money is decided at local level by local action

:01:51. > :01:53.groups and they are also unsure about the future.

:01:54. > :01:57.Obviously, things are going to change when Brexit happens

:01:58. > :02:00.but we are optimistic the government is working

:02:01. > :02:05.There will be domestic funds, we hope,

:02:06. > :02:08.and we hope to be part of those so it's wait and see.

:02:09. > :02:11.But their main message is encouraging people to apply

:02:12. > :02:15.for the leader funding now while it's definitely there.

:02:16. > :02:18.If anyone out there has got an idea, they want to know more,

:02:19. > :02:24.We asked the government if it can guarantee it will replace EU

:02:25. > :02:28.business grants for rural areas following Brexit.

:02:29. > :02:32.It told us projects will be honoured in future if they are good value

:02:33. > :02:35.for money and in line with government priorities.

:02:36. > :02:39.Mike's beers are already being sold in Lincoln pubs.

:02:40. > :02:42.He's hoping the grant scheme that has helped him and other businesses

:02:43. > :02:50.Police have released the name of a man who died in a crash

:02:51. > :02:55.David Lamming, who was 63 and from Goxhill, crashed his van

:02:56. > :02:59.Police are investigating whether he became ill at the wheel.

:03:00. > :03:04.A man who's spent 25 years trying to save a crumbling medieval tower

:03:05. > :03:07.near Hull has been awarded more than ?100,000.

:03:08. > :03:11.Simon Taylor will receive a grant of around ?160,000

:03:12. > :03:14.from Historic England to protect Paull Holme Tower, which is almost

:03:15. > :03:20.This money that we've received is really significant.

:03:21. > :03:22.It allows us to finally start repairing the brickwork

:03:23. > :03:28.We are going to put a roof on it, the building inside will be dry

:03:29. > :03:30.and hopefully when the open day comes along in September,

:03:31. > :03:34.all the public can come along and see this magnificent building.

:03:35. > :03:37.A sport for older people that was first played

:03:38. > :03:39.in East Yorkshire is gaining popularity,

:03:40. > :03:43.Walking netball clubs are being set up for people who no

:03:44. > :03:45.longer want to take part in high-speed exercise.

:03:49. > :03:51.From the brightly coloured bibs to the squeak of the trainers

:03:52. > :03:53.on the hall floor and the blow of the umpire's whistle,

:03:54. > :03:56.this sport is very similar to the sport you know from school.

:03:57. > :04:03.It makes it easier for people who have got some kind

:04:04. > :04:09.It saves some people from isolation, the older people who haven't been

:04:10. > :04:12.But the women who are part of this club say

:04:13. > :04:18.The camaraderie is absolutely brilliant.

:04:19. > :04:22.It's got me back into doing things really.

:04:23. > :04:24.Going into a gym is quite intimidating sometimes

:04:25. > :04:26.but we get new ladies here and they just

:04:27. > :04:31.It's been a lifeline for people like Pat.

:04:32. > :04:42.It's something to come out for and you make new friends.

:04:43. > :04:46.Walking netball was actually started in East Yorkshire.

:04:47. > :04:50.Since then it has been adopted by clubs across the country

:04:51. > :04:53.and moreover it is proving so popular that even more

:04:54. > :04:55.sessions are going to be held in East Yorkshire

:04:56. > :05:00.There are already clubs like this in Goole, Withernsea,

:05:01. > :05:04.Beverley and there's one in Boston, but come next year the hope

:05:05. > :05:07.is that there'll also be sessions in Stamford,

:05:08. > :05:09.Hull, Driffield, Cleethorpes and Grimsby.

:05:10. > :05:12.Hopefully it is going to get up there with walking football.

:05:13. > :05:14.We've only had women in our sessions so far.

:05:15. > :05:16.Whether in the future we get any men, who knows,

:05:17. > :05:21.but at the moment it's a lot of women.

:05:22. > :05:28.The success of sports like this shows that just because you get

:05:29. > :05:34.older doesn't mean you have to give up the things you love.

:05:35. > :05:37.Now the weather forecast with Keeley Donovan.

:05:38. > :05:42.It's cold and in places quite foggy out there at the moment.

:05:43. > :05:45.I think it will become less dense overnight as it becomes cloudier

:05:46. > :05:48.and breezier from the north, though we will have some stubborn

:05:49. > :05:53.It's chilly out there and at some point in the night temperatures

:05:54. > :05:57.will drop down to freezing, but it won't be as cold tomorrow.
