:02:15. > :02:18.James certainly isn't surprised that crime figures are up.

:02:25. > :02:27.Even last year, we have seen a spike in instances from

:02:28. > :02:29.petty crime and vandalism to serious theft and damage.

:02:30. > :02:32.So, you would say on the ground, yeah, we are feeling it.

:02:33. > :02:36.The police are trying to help is where they can, but you feel that

:02:37. > :02:37.they are limited with what they can do.

:02:38. > :02:41.The Humberside force has seen the highest

:02:42. > :02:43.rise in crime levels, figures have risen

:02:44. > :02:46.in North Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding.

:02:47. > :02:48.Only North East Lincolnsihre has seen a fall of 4%.

:02:49. > :02:51.There's been a 2% rise in crime in the Lincolnshire force area.

:02:52. > :02:54.The biggest increases in the Humberside force region

:02:55. > :02:59.were in violent crime, a rise of 26%, this has been

:03:00. > :03:02.blamed partly on the way the figures are collated.

:03:03. > :03:07.Violent crime now includes offences committed over the internet.

:03:08. > :03:11.There has been a significant drop in drugs offences both

:03:12. > :03:15.in the Humberside force area and Lincolnshire.

:03:16. > :03:17.I don't think anyone should be scared by numbers on a

:03:18. > :03:24.Where people should feel rightly concerned is what their

:03:25. > :03:26.experiencing in their day-to-day life.

:03:27. > :03:30.One that for the time being they feel they are stuck with.

:03:38. > :03:41.I asked him why there's been a big increase in violent crime.

:03:42. > :03:43.Violent crime is one of those where recording

:03:44. > :03:53.Even in that area, there is an upwards trend and so I am

:03:54. > :03:55.concerned about anything which affects the

:03:56. > :03:57.people who live in this area and crime is.

:03:58. > :04:05.People won't feel that who are watching.

:04:06. > :04:08.Even you don't see this as a success, why?

:04:09. > :04:11.Drug offences are generally found by police officers

:04:12. > :04:18.when they are investigating drugs or other offences.

:04:19. > :04:21.If the number of recorded drug offences goes down, it is

:04:22. > :04:23.because the police's attention is on other things.

:04:24. > :04:26.There is a growing fashion these days by some senior police officers

:04:27. > :04:29.and Home Office people to be sniffy at the public wanting more boots

:04:30. > :04:32.on the ground, saying it is old-fashioned.

:04:33. > :04:43.The public tell me all of the time that they want to see

:04:44. > :04:52.The thing is that people feel with a gut reaction that

:04:53. > :04:54.crime is there on the streets at the moment.

:04:55. > :04:56.What do you say to those people tonight?

:04:57. > :05:03.I'm trying represent them to get Humberside Police focusing on the

:05:04. > :05:04.issues that actually affect them in their

:05:05. > :05:14.A couple who fed drugs to a four year old child

:05:15. > :05:17.because she was inconveniencing their relationship have been

:05:18. > :05:25.Poppy Widdison from Grimsby died in 2013.

:05:26. > :05:28.Today, a judge told her mother Michaela Pyke and her ex partner

:05:29. > :05:30.John Ritting that they weren't fit to be parents.

:05:31. > :05:37.A court has heard that a Hornsea man accused of murdering a woman

:05:38. > :05:40.who replaced him as a stable hand hoped that "he might get his job

:05:41. > :05:45.60-year-old Fiona Southwell was stabbed 19 times

:05:46. > :05:51.Today the stepmother of 22-year-old Daniel Edwards told the jury

:05:52. > :05:54.that she told him not to "talk like that about a woman

:05:55. > :06:01.Daniel Edwards denies murder and the case continues.

:06:02. > :06:04.Farmers in Lincolnshire say they want the Government to make

:06:05. > :06:07.clear how EU subsidies will be replaced once we leave

:06:08. > :06:14.Ministers say that they will support agriculture, but there's concern

:06:15. > :06:23.Some farmers say they may be forced to turn to charity

:06:24. > :06:31.Last year, Richard planned to expand the pig sheds, on his small mixed

:06:32. > :06:36.?10,000 in EU subsidy didn't arrive on time in December 2015,

:06:37. > :06:47.We kept getting letters saying it will be paid in January or February.

:06:48. > :06:51.We got a partial payment and then another partial payment

:06:52. > :07:05.Unnecessary because we had not had our payment.

:07:06. > :07:07.Only a hand-out from a charity stopped richer from getting

:07:08. > :07:10.Tens of thousands of farmers experienced

:07:11. > :07:12.year,just when the price they could get for

:07:13. > :07:23.The RABI charity in Lincolnshire gave out more than ?91,941

:07:24. > :07:26.to farmers last year, a big rise.

:07:27. > :07:29.Last year was the pinnacle of a few bad years, I think.

:07:30. > :07:31.Everything was just coming together to create a

:07:32. > :07:32.time where people were really struggling.

:07:33. > :07:41.The Prime Minister's Brexit speech on Tuesday did not shed any more

:07:42. > :07:44.light on whether EU subsidies will continue after 2020.

:07:45. > :07:47.The NFU in Lincolnshire says clarity is needed on this and other

:07:48. > :08:06.Farming businessess plan a long way ahead.

:08:07. > :08:07.Investing in machinery, very expensive machinery.

:08:08. > :08:11.We need to make sure that with the Government we

:08:12. > :08:14.know where we are, what is coming and we can invest in our businesses

:08:15. > :08:18.and make sure the industry goes forward and we can go forward in a

:08:19. > :08:21.Most subsidies in the latest round of payments have

:08:22. > :08:24.Richard is still catching up on his bills from

:08:25. > :08:27.Here's hoping that after Brexit, it will still be

:08:28. > :08:32.Just how reliant are farmers on EU subsidies at the moment?

:08:33. > :08:34.We're talking about the largest EU farming subsidy; basic payments.

:08:35. > :08:38.More than 80,000 of our farms get it.

:08:39. > :08:42.Its calculated depending on the size and type of farm.

:08:43. > :08:46.There are conditions attached, with the idea of promoting

:08:47. > :08:48.environmentally friendly agriculture.

:08:49. > :08:52.Farmers don't want to have to rely on it, but many do,

:08:53. > :08:57.especially in years like 2016 when prices were really low,

:08:58. > :08:59.so they might be losing money producing some things.

:09:00. > :09:02.Farming requires planning years ahead so the NFU hopes to hear more

:09:03. > :09:05.on the government's thinking on the post-Brexit future

:09:06. > :09:12.Some are also welcoming this as an opportunity to review how

:09:13. > :09:20.It's been revealed that the blade sculpture which is sited

:09:21. > :09:25.in Hull City Centre as part of City of Culture Celebrations doesn't have
