:00:22. > :00:24.You kind of get used to it but sometimes,

:00:28. > :00:32.A hospital trust is told that it must improve following an inspection

:00:33. > :00:38.A Lincolnshire MP adds his voice to calls for the House

:00:39. > :01:00.Record levels of hate crime have been reported by police

:01:01. > :01:05.in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire since the EU referendum in June.

:01:06. > :01:08.A hate crime is any attack which the victim, or anyone else,

:01:09. > :01:12.thinks is based on someone's prejudice towards them

:01:13. > :01:15.because of their race, religion, sexual orientation,

:01:16. > :01:18.disability or because they're transgender.

:01:19. > :01:22.Humberside Police recorded 140 hate crimes between July

:01:23. > :01:28.An increase of 34% compared to the same period in 2015.

:01:29. > :01:33.Lincolnshire Police recorded 78 hate crimes during the same period.

:01:34. > :01:39.Nationally, 14,000 hate crimes were reported between July

:01:40. > :01:46.Our correspondent Vicky Johnson reports from Scunthorpe.

:01:47. > :01:50.In the days since the EU referendum, some members of our community have

:01:51. > :01:54.been telling Humberside Police about the abuse they face.

:01:55. > :01:58.Stuff that we are seeing after Brexit, things like,

:01:59. > :02:02.we voted for leaving the EU, wy are you still here?

:02:03. > :02:07.Basic things along the lines of there's no place in society

:02:08. > :02:10.for your community, go back to your country.

:02:11. > :02:13.Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe, one of the most multicultural

:02:14. > :02:19.People of different nationalities and religions seem to rub along

:02:20. > :02:22.for the most part quite well together, however, some

:02:23. > :02:25.of those we spoke to have suffered racial abuse.

:02:26. > :02:29.Abid Khan says the abuse can be deeply offensive.

:02:30. > :02:32.People call me names, I have been called a terrorist,

:02:33. > :02:39.You name it, lots of things under the sun, I have been called.

:02:40. > :02:45.For Husna and her family the taunting can prove intimidating.

:02:46. > :02:49.They just tell you to take the niqab off, the scarf

:02:50. > :02:55.You kind of get used to it but, you know,

:02:56. > :02:57.sometimes when you are on your own, you get frightened,

:02:58. > :03:05.Chido, who moved from Zimbabwe 12 years ago, thinks people have become

:03:06. > :03:10.At the beginning it was kind of difficult but as the years have

:03:11. > :03:15.gone by, things are starting to get easier because not many people

:03:16. > :03:20.comment or they are adjusting to the difference that we can

:03:21. > :03:26.But that's not always the case in Lincolnshire where there's

:03:27. > :03:28.been great uncertainty since the Brexit vote.

:03:29. > :03:32.This service of friendship was meant to help heal divisions.

:03:33. > :03:35.And the police say they're encouraging all victims of hate

:03:36. > :03:41.As much as it's terrible that these incidents occur at all,

:03:42. > :03:45.it is good news that people are feeling that Lincolnshire Police

:03:46. > :03:48.can be trusted with that information and that we will do something

:03:49. > :03:53.While there has been an increase in the number of hate crimes

:03:54. > :03:56.reported to both the Humberside and Lincolnshire Police forces,

:03:57. > :04:00.the number of cases is still relatively low compared

:04:01. > :04:09.Unemployment figures have reduced in Yorkshire.

:04:10. > :04:12.In the Yorkshire and the Humber region, 137,000 people were out

:04:13. > :04:16.of work and claiming benefit in the last quarter of 2016.

:04:17. > :04:21.But in the East Midlands, which includes Lincolnshire,

:04:22. > :04:32.Police activity has continued at a Lincolnshire firing range

:04:33. > :04:36.after officers began seizing weapons from the site on Monday.

:04:37. > :04:40.It's after the Home Office revoked a firearms licence held by an arms

:04:41. > :04:44.dealer on the Skydock site at Faldingworth.

:04:45. > :04:48.Lincolnshire Police has said it's working with military experts

:04:49. > :04:52.to seize the weapons to ensure public safety.

:04:53. > :04:56.Ambulance and fire crews based in Louth are to share a station.

:04:57. > :04:59.It's part of a long-term plan for emergency services

:05:00. > :05:02.to collaborate more closely, save money and provide

:05:03. > :05:07.The Louth station will be on Eastfield Road and will be

:05:08. > :05:11.the first in Lincolnshire to be run this way.

:05:12. > :05:15.Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust has been criticised

:05:16. > :05:18.because of a shortage of nurses and has been told that it has

:05:19. > :05:24.The Care Quality Commission also said that A standards

:05:25. > :05:27.needed to get better, but noted some improvements

:05:28. > :05:30.after previous claims that staff were bullied.

:05:31. > :05:33.Our reporter Katy Austin is at Hull Royal Infirmary.

:05:34. > :05:39.Well, it says the trust requires improvement.

:05:40. > :05:43.Now, that is the same rating it got in 2014,

:05:44. > :05:46.when criticisms were made of a bullying culture

:05:47. > :05:53.Emergency care's better, the staff culture is better.

:05:54. > :05:56.But there aren't enough nurses and A waiting

:05:57. > :06:03.However, the man in charge says he's confident things are on the up.

:06:04. > :06:08.It is disappointing but we need to recognise the CQC have

:06:09. > :06:11.raised the bar in terms of what they are looking

:06:12. > :06:15.for and there has been a huge amount of work going on to get us pointed

:06:16. > :06:18.in the right direction so I am confident we are now in a place

:06:19. > :06:21.where we can move to good and then beyond.

:06:22. > :06:24.Now, this trust serves a population of more than 600,000 people

:06:25. > :06:31.Its main bases being the Hull RI and Castle Hill Hospital.

:06:32. > :06:36.And out of five categories looked at by the inspectors,

:06:37. > :06:41.including safety and effectiveness, just one, the caring of staff,

:06:42. > :06:50.So there's optimism at the top but there's clearly work to be done.

:06:51. > :06:54.A Lincolnshire MP has called on his colleagues to pass a motion

:06:55. > :06:58.of no confidence in the Speaker of the House of Commons.

:06:59. > :07:02.Lincoln's Karl McCartney says that John Bercow's position is untenable

:07:03. > :07:07.after he made comments critical of the US President Donald Trump.

:07:08. > :07:11.But others say that the Speaker has every right to voice his opinions.

:07:12. > :07:14.Our Political Editor Tim Iredale has more.

:07:15. > :07:22.He is the man charged with keeping order in the House of Commons

:07:23. > :07:25.but at least one of our MPs believes John Bercow is out of order

:07:26. > :07:28.after he said President Trump would not be welcome to address

:07:29. > :07:31.parliament when he arrives in the country later this year.

:07:32. > :07:36.I would not wish to issue an invitation to President Trump.

:07:37. > :07:40.Lincoln MP Karl McCartney has e-mailed fellow MPs urging them

:07:41. > :07:43.to support a motion of no-confidence in Speaker Bercow, saying

:07:44. > :07:47.that he is not politically impartial and that his position

:07:48. > :07:52.The role of the Speaker of the House of Commons is meant to be

:07:53. > :07:57.By speaking out on such a politically divisive issue,

:07:58. > :08:00.he has broken the terms of the contract of which his

:08:01. > :08:03.job is and I believe, fully supportive of Karl,

:08:04. > :08:07.But another MP called Karl disagrees.

:08:08. > :08:10.He said in his opinion he would not want him to be

:08:11. > :08:15.He is entitled to have that opinion because it is the Speaker

:08:16. > :08:17.of the House of Commons, together with the Speaker

:08:18. > :08:21.of the Lords and the Lord Great Chamberlain who will decide

:08:22. > :08:25.John Bercow is entitled to have that opinion.

:08:26. > :08:29.This is Speakers' Corner in Lincoln where people come to have their say

:08:30. > :08:34.So what's the verdict here on whether the House

:08:35. > :08:37.of Commons Speaker was right or wrong to speak out

:08:38. > :08:43.Donald Trump is segregating people so I think it is the right

:08:44. > :08:46.thing for him to say, for John Bercow to say.

:08:47. > :08:50.His views are bad but they will strike more people to put their foot

:08:51. > :08:55.I think a lot more people will make a stand.

:08:56. > :08:59.If Donald Trump wants to come to the UK, let him come to the UK.

:09:00. > :09:04.It is not John Bercow's right to speak out and talk

:09:05. > :09:09.Parliament isn't sitting this week but when MPs return

:09:10. > :09:12.to Westminster next week, we will know whether Karl McCartney

:09:13. > :09:15.has been successful in persuading his colleagues to support a motion

:09:16. > :09:18.of no-confidence against the Speaker.
