:00:57. > :00:58.A major road through Lincolnshire remains closed tonight suspected

:00:59. > :01:01.stolen car has crashed into a level crossing in Lincolnshire

:01:02. > :01:10.It happened on the A158 coast road in Langworth.

:01:11. > :01:13.No train was involved in the accident but rail services

:01:14. > :01:17.between Lincoln and Grimsby have been affected.

:01:18. > :01:21.The driver sustained serious injuries and has been

:01:22. > :01:45.Well, it was 2:30pm and the Vauxhall Corsa overtook traffic waiting at

:01:46. > :01:49.the barrier, it crashed into the barrier, hit the house behind me

:01:50. > :01:55.before crashing into the Royal Mail lorry waiting on the opposite side.

:01:56. > :01:59.The police tell us they believe the vehicle had been stolen from a

:02:00. > :02:05.neighbouring county and fails to stop. The IPCC has been notified of

:02:06. > :02:10.this incident. The barriers were down because a train was approaching

:02:11. > :02:15.the crossing. Luckily, it stopped before the incident but I spoke to a

:02:16. > :02:19.passenger on the train. The police came on board the train and said

:02:20. > :02:23.they had to inspect the tracks because they did not know if the

:02:24. > :02:29.rails were bent or we could continue to Lincoln. There were an emergency

:02:30. > :02:35.services, the air ambulance, fire brigade and if we were a few seconds

:02:36. > :02:42.ahead, it would have hit the train. How long to clear the road?

:02:43. > :02:46.Engineers have been working here all afternoon and evening and got the

:02:47. > :02:50.barriers back in place and they are inspecting the house to see if it is

:02:51. > :02:54.structurally sound. Police tell me they are anxious to get the road

:02:55. > :02:59.reopened because it is a major route to Lincolnshire. The driver of the

:03:00. > :03:01.suspected stolen car, he was airlifted to hospital and remains in

:03:02. > :03:06.condition. Victoria, thank you. 400 thousand pounds has been paid

:03:11. > :03:12.after botched heart surgery. Carrie Wright's brain was starved

:03:31. > :03:33.despite suffering brain damage during an operation that made

:03:34. > :03:35.everyday tasks like boarding a bus In 2003, aged just nine,

:03:36. > :03:41.she underwent heart surgery in Leeds but mistakes were made that

:03:42. > :03:43.left her unable to walk, barely able to talk

:03:44. > :03:47.and with curvature of the spine Carrie spent years rebuilding her

:03:48. > :03:54.life but in 2014 died unexpectedly from pneumonia and sepsis,

:03:55. > :03:56.infections she was vulnerable Words cannot describe how

:03:57. > :04:03.much I miss our girl. Carrie's surgery was carried

:06:53. > :06:54.of accountability and we share a collective resonsibility.

:06:55. > :06:57.We are committed to making sure we work with the staff we have got

:06:58. > :07:01.who do really tremendous things on a daily basis to ensure we put it

:07:02. > :07:04.right and we all ready have fixed that and it has been acknowledged.

:07:05. > :07:07.Was the previous chief constable the wrong person for the job?

:07:34. > :07:35.It's been named Whitton Island and has become home

:07:36. > :07:42.It will be protected by the RSPB and turned into a nature reserve.

:07:52. > :07:55.of the Humber Estuary, lies Whitton Island,

:07:58. > :08:05.We have got fantastic views of Marsh Harrier...

:08:06. > :08:08.We can't go on it just yet but at the nearby Blacktoft Sands

:08:09. > :08:13.reserve they're excited to be taking control of Whitton.

:08:14. > :08:16.Islands are just great refuges for wildlife.

:08:17. > :08:18.Things like the pink-footed geese that come in winter.

:08:19. > :08:24.We get up to 2% of the world's population.

:08:25. > :08:25.Breeding avocets, breeding Marsh Harriers,

:08:26. > :08:32.You know, it is all part of trying to make things better along

:08:33. > :08:38.Whitton Island has only existed for around 30 years.

:08:39. > :08:42.Starting as a mudflat, it slowly formed as the shifting sands

:08:43. > :08:48.It's now more than a mile long and shows every

:08:49. > :08:53.And as it grows so does its bird population.

:08:54. > :08:56.You get a lot of birds from Arctic areas coming into winter.

:08:57. > :09:04.Then there is a big change around and you get all the summer migrants

:09:05. > :09:09.coming up from Africa, areas like that.

:09:10. > :09:12.Any form of extension to this area is bound to be

:09:13. > :09:24.We've had special permission to film above this sensitive area,

:09:25. > :09:27.which the RSPB is now leasing from Associated British Ports.

:09:28. > :09:30.Habitat improvement work will begin later in the year to make Whitton

:09:31. > :09:34.even more attractive to visiting birds.
