:00:19. > :00:24.Witnesses in Hedon in East Yorkshire say the man forced a driver out

:00:25. > :00:27.of his car at gunpoint early this morning.

:00:28. > :00:30.Police say it was one of at least four attempted carjackings

:00:31. > :00:33.involving two men in Hull and the East Riding,

:00:34. > :00:40.It was a dramatic start to the day on normally-quiet Fletcher Gate.

:00:41. > :00:44.The driver of this car was on his way to work as usual

:00:45. > :00:49.A guy came from that red Audi over there with a gun in his hand,

:00:50. > :00:52.pointing the gun at me, and shouting to get out of the car.

:00:53. > :00:55.I didn't comply straightaway because I was in a bit

:00:56. > :01:02.He hit the gun on the window of the car, and told me

:01:03. > :01:06.So I got out of the car, moved to the back of

:01:07. > :01:10.He couldn't drive it away because he couldn't

:01:11. > :01:12.operate an automatic, so he was just revving it.

:01:13. > :01:16.As he realised the car wasn't going anywhere,

:01:17. > :01:19.he tried to get out of the car, and opened the door just as this

:01:20. > :01:23.lorry came past to block him in, and the lorry hit the door.

:01:24. > :01:25.The driver of the bin lorry was actually filling

:01:26. > :01:28.in for a colleague who was away on holiday and took a split-second

:01:29. > :01:36.He's not going anywhere, sort of thing.

:01:37. > :01:38.Let's get in front of him and he can't escape.

:01:39. > :01:40.Then at that point when we'd stopped the vehicle,

:01:41. > :01:46.People were dragging him out of that 4x4 and wrestling him to the ground,

:01:47. > :01:51.The binmen who thought they had seen the man brandishing a gun,

:01:52. > :01:55.but still rushed to help people who had pushed into the ground.

:01:56. > :01:57.This care worker says she and another lady

:01:58. > :02:02.Some old woman ran across, and then I ran across,

:02:03. > :02:04.and then the next thing I knew we are all piling

:02:05. > :02:09.Everyone rallied round, everyone that was walking

:02:10. > :02:14.Everyone jumped out, and everyone was really good.

:02:15. > :02:16.The morning's events are the talk of Hedon.

:02:17. > :02:19.We asked people what they thought of those who rushed to help.

:02:20. > :02:24.Brave. Very, very brave, honestly.

:02:25. > :02:25.They shouldn't do it. Really?

:02:26. > :02:37.By lunchtime the street he was back to normal,

:02:38. > :02:40.the vehicles removed, car window glass swept off the road,

:02:41. > :02:44.but it's a morning that people round here won't forget.

:02:45. > :02:48.Humberside Police have this evening told us more about what has

:02:49. > :02:51.happened across Hull, Hedon and Hessle, they've had four

:02:52. > :02:55.reports of cars being stolen, including a possible van by two men

:02:56. > :03:02.There have also been some reports of attempted thefts as well,

:03:03. > :03:04.and a 23-year-old man has been arrested and remains

:03:05. > :03:08.Katie Austin, BBC Look North in Hedon.

:03:09. > :03:10.Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner

:03:11. > :03:12.has given his backing to a new taser stun gun.

:03:13. > :03:15.The Government has authorised police to be equipped with the more

:03:16. > :03:17.powerful tasers, which carry two stun probes instead of one,

:03:18. > :03:21.Marc Jones welcomed the move, saying it's vital officers have

:03:22. > :03:30.the right tools to protect themselves and the public.

:03:31. > :03:33.Thousands of women who thought they would be able to retire at 60

:03:34. > :03:35.are to protest in London, after changes left them

:03:36. > :03:38.waiting till they reach 66 to get the state pension.

:03:39. > :03:42.The Government says it has no plans to compensate them.

:03:43. > :03:46.Now a campaign called Waspi is taking women from East Yorkshire

:03:47. > :03:49.and Lincolnshire to hold a demo on Budget Day.

:03:56. > :03:57.When the welfare state was created, it promised a guaranteed pension

:03:58. > :04:01.for everyone who paid National Insurance throughout

:04:02. > :04:06.but a number of women in their 60s claim they've been short-changed

:04:07. > :04:10.by changes to the way their state pensions are calculated.

:04:11. > :04:15.Rosemary Jordan, a former teacher from Scunthorpe, is one of them.

:04:16. > :04:17.Somebody who is a year younger than myself has already

:04:18. > :04:21.My sister-in-law was born in May '53,

:04:22. > :04:23.and she got her state pension in November.

:04:24. > :04:26.I was born in February '54, I've got to wait another 2.5 years.

:04:27. > :04:34.The issue mainly affects women who were born in the 1950s.

:04:35. > :04:39.Traditionally, the retirement age was 65 for men and 60 for women,

:04:40. > :04:43.but in 1995 the Government decided the state pension age should become

:04:44. > :04:46.equal for both men and women - this would be phased in

:04:47. > :04:52.But in 2011 it was decided to raise the state pension age again,

:04:53. > :04:55.and some women who originally thought they could retire at 60

:04:56. > :05:01.are now facing the prospect of working until they're 66.

:05:02. > :05:03.For many of the women in Hull Waspi Voice,

:05:04. > :05:05.some women actually took redundancy and early retirement and then

:05:06. > :05:09.discovered they weren't going to get their pensions from the state.

:05:10. > :05:12.Some of them are talking about the physical and mental strain

:05:13. > :05:15.of carrying on working in the roles that they've been employed in

:05:16. > :05:19.for six more years, when they never thought

:05:20. > :05:24.You pay out! We paid in!

:05:25. > :05:27.The Government says everyone was told about these changes -

:05:28. > :05:33.If I had been properly informed I would have done additional

:05:34. > :05:35.financial arrangements for my pension.

:05:36. > :05:51.But many campaigners are determined to make their voices heard

:05:52. > :05:55.and they are planning the biggest protest so far to coincide with

:05:56. > :06:05.One of Lincoln's oldest stores is to close,

:06:06. > :06:06.blaming internet shopping and Brexit,

:06:07. > :06:09.but, it says, mainly a lack of parking in Lincoln.

:06:10. > :06:14.Ruddocks is a family business that's over 150 years old.

:06:15. > :06:19.It's been on the High Street in the city for more than a century.

:06:20. > :06:21.If Lincoln City Council actually did have a strategy...

:06:22. > :06:24.I don't think they do, but if they did have a strategy

:06:25. > :06:30.for strangling the centre of Lincoln, it wouldn't look much

:06:31. > :06:37.The City of Lincoln Council says it's sad to see Ruddocks close,

:06:38. > :06:39.but doesn't accept that that parking in the city is the

:06:40. > :06:48.Now let's take a look at the weather.

:06:49. > :06:51.Hello again. Good evening.

:06:52. > :06:53.We are seeing that very heavy rain track up towards the north,

:06:54. > :06:55.still a couple of heavy outbursts, though,

:06:56. > :06:58.and not ruling out the rumble of thunder overnight as well.

:06:59. > :07:01.But, as we head through to the early hours, it will have largely cleared

:07:02. > :07:04.and we will be looking at quite a bright picture.

:07:05. > :07:05.Quite cloudy, though, and those temperatures will only

:07:06. > :07:10.So, through the morning, it may be a cloudy start.

:07:11. > :07:12.We could even see some rain, particularly along the east coast,

:07:13. > :07:15.but, I think, through the afternoon, a largely dry afternoon with some

:07:16. > :07:17.decent sunny spells for this time of year.

:07:18. > :07:20.Temperatures will get up to around 10 Celsius.

:07:59. > :08:04.us will get away with a dry start. This is the satellite and a lovely

:08:05. > :08:14.day in northern Scotland. But cloud and rain and thunder and lightning

:08:15. > :08:20.in this area. Our main area of rain is stuck across Northern Ireland and

:08:21. > :08:23.Scotland. Some snow over higher ground. And windy.
