:00:21. > :00:23.New tax laws mean temporary doctors could be thousands

:00:24. > :00:26.of pounds worse off - and many are refusing

:00:27. > :00:35.Everyday, around 140 to 180 patients come through the doors

:00:36. > :00:39.But staff are struggling to provide a full service

:00:40. > :00:49.Our doctors are rising to the challenge, so speciality doctors

:00:50. > :00:52.are moving from the departments to work within the accident

:00:53. > :00:55.and emergency department but the situation is very fluid.

:00:56. > :00:59.Hospital bosses say a change in taxation rules means that agency

:01:00. > :01:05.doctors now get to take home less money because their tax and national

:01:06. > :01:07.insurance is now taken away at source, and that means

:01:08. > :01:13.there are fewer agency doctors that want to come and do shifts here.

:01:14. > :01:16.This isn't just a problem in Lincoln.

:01:17. > :01:18.The hospital has too few permanent A doctors and is overly

:01:19. > :01:25.Lincoln's A Department has 3.6 permanent middle grade doctors

:01:26. > :01:27.and three long-term locums at the moment.

:01:28. > :01:30.So that's nearly half of the A doctors that

:01:31. > :01:57.In a statement, NHS Improvement says...

:01:58. > :01:59.But the association that represents local doctors says their members

:02:00. > :02:06.Are they prepared to pay us for our livelihood?

:02:07. > :02:08.Out livelihood doesn't seem to be their responsibility.

:02:09. > :02:10.Locums have children to look after, mortgages to pay.

:02:11. > :02:13.The hospitals couldn't care about that and they are paid

:02:14. > :02:16.for patient care and they are pay 6-figure sums to CEOs and managers

:02:17. > :02:23.Why don't they save money from there?

:02:24. > :02:25.Bosses here are now urging people to stay away unless they need

:02:26. > :02:28.emergency treatment, like Harry who spent the morning

:02:29. > :02:33.in A after injuring his arm while playing hockey.

:02:34. > :02:42.We weren't in there that long, a couple of hours maybe.

:02:43. > :02:45.We were waiting initial while to get my sling on but that's

:02:46. > :02:48.Managers know they need to recruit more doctors

:02:49. > :02:51.here but even with incentives, that's continuing to be a challenge.

:04:32. > :04:34.Their success is kind of our success.

:04:35. > :04:38.Broadly we're about 50% branded and 50% retail brand.

:04:39. > :04:41.The company used 1200 tonnes of local potatoes each week,

:04:42. > :04:47.making up to 25 million bags of crisps in 144 different flavours.
