:00:36. > :00:38.Hull City Council has admitted it got it wrong by closing the city's

:00:39. > :00:43.Visitors to the UK City of Culture said they were disappointed to find

:00:44. > :00:47.places like the Maritime Museum and the Ferens Art Gallery shut.

:00:48. > :00:49.They will be able to see the attractions for the rest

:00:50. > :00:51.of the Easter weekend, but the council says

:00:52. > :00:54.it is likely to open them on Good Friday from next year.

:00:55. > :01:00.In Hull, the UK City of Culture, there is plenty to see and do.

:01:01. > :01:03.But for those wanting to visit the museums and art gallery today,

:01:04. > :01:08.Obviously I work full-time and I've come today to see the museums,

:01:09. > :01:11.thought I'll take in Hull City of Culture on a bank holiday

:01:12. > :01:15.We were expecting to go to the Maritime Museum and other

:01:16. > :01:19.museums in Hull at the present time so, yes, we were disappointed

:01:20. > :01:25.Yeah, it was really a shame, I was hoping to go in

:01:26. > :01:30.Hull City Council says that Hull's museums and art gallery are closed

:01:31. > :01:32.every Good Friday but they'll reopen tomorrow for the rest

:01:33. > :01:38.In fact, they're open 360 days a year and for longer

:01:39. > :01:45.But it's admitted that having them closed today was a mistake.

:01:46. > :01:46.Obviously it's Good Friday today and they're shut

:01:47. > :01:49.so probably we got that wrong, we need to look at

:01:50. > :01:53.But I think the thinking was that probably there's both rugby

:01:54. > :01:56.teams are at home today, there's lots of other things going

:01:57. > :02:00.But what fantastic news that people were so desperate

:02:01. > :02:03.to use our cultural facilities so we'll learn the lesson and we'll

:02:04. > :02:08.So while families still have the rest of Easter to enjoy the city's

:02:09. > :02:12.attractions, many feel let down to have a wasted trip today.

:02:13. > :02:19.Staff at one of Lincoln's oldest shops say they feel

:02:20. > :02:23.like they are grieving as the store prepares to close for good.

:02:24. > :02:25.Ruddocks has been run by the same family

:02:26. > :02:57.It'll shut it's doors for good this weekend blaming poor trade because

:02:58. > :02:58.of Brexit, internet shopping and a lack of parking.

:02:59. > :02:58.It's been in the same place on the high street

:02:59. > :03:03.A music festival is taking place in Hull next month which celebrates

:03:04. > :03:03.The two countries were at loggerheads over fishing

:03:04. > :03:04.rights for many years, in a dispute known as the Cod Wars.

:03:05. > :03:04.But they also have a positive shared history.

:03:05. > :03:04.Kofi Smiles has been to Iceland to find out more.

:03:07. > :03:09.But what has it got to with Hull, the UK City of Culture?

:03:10. > :03:13.Well, for one thing, Reykjavik is one of Hull's sister cities.

:03:14. > :03:15.Through the fishing industry, they've traded with each

:03:16. > :03:18.other for 700 years, sometimes peacefully, sometimes

:03:19. > :03:24.They were both listed in the world's top ten cities to visit

:03:25. > :03:29.It's even said that the cobblestones in Hull's old town were brought

:03:30. > :03:34.But there's cultural links too and that's what I'm here for.

:03:35. > :03:38.Voyage by Steinunn Thorarinsdottir leads proudly out to sea

:03:39. > :03:43.What many people don't realise though is that it has a sister

:03:44. > :03:46.statue 1,000 miles away in Vik, Iceland.

:03:47. > :03:50.North Atlantic Flux, one of the major music festivals

:03:51. > :03:52.of the City of Culture programme will celebrate Hull's

:03:53. > :04:03.I think you're going to be seeing a good mixture of what Hull has

:04:04. > :04:09.to offer but also things from the North Atlantic, you know,

:04:10. > :04:12.it's quite Scandinavian and then just some of my favourite things

:04:13. > :04:16.from around Britain because Britain has been instrumental,

:04:17. > :04:21.pun intended, I guess, in forming my musical DNA

:04:22. > :04:24.and my musical vocabulary throughout my life so it's a very,

:04:25. > :04:31.The sea separates us but it also gives us this shared history

:04:32. > :04:34.and this natural understanding of each other's heritage.

:04:35. > :04:39.Historically, men from both cities would trawl for fish in these waters

:04:40. > :04:42.which led to overfishing and a breakdown in relations

:04:43. > :04:46.But now through music and art, there's a friendship that

:04:47. > :04:49.thrives on so many levels, that's what John Grant

:04:50. > :04:59.and his friends will be celebrating in Hull at North Atlantic Flux.

:05:41. > :05:42.Easter Sunday looks like a cloudy one with outbreaks of rain

:05:43. > :05:43.for many of us and a cool north to northwesterly breeze as well.
