:00:58. > :01:00.Trading Standards say it's becoming a huge problem especially

:01:23. > :01:25.Then they tell you that you are going to go into a draw.
:01:26. > :01:37.He is now in the state where every day he is out at the
:01:38. > :01:40.front of the house, three or four times waiting for the postman.
:01:41. > :01:42.The gentleman in receipt of this mail
:01:43. > :01:45.has been known to get up to 40 letters per week.
:01:46. > :01:48.He like many others has found himself on a list
:01:49. > :01:52.being passed between fraudsters, a list of people particularly
:01:53. > :01:57.vulnerable and it just results in more and more mail.
:01:58. > :01:59.Over the past year Trading Standards in
:02:00. > :02:04.Lincolnshire has been working to a list of 1,500 identified
:02:05. > :02:11.But during that time the list has grown to more than 2000.
:02:12. > :02:16.That includes those targeted over the Internet and telephone.
:02:17. > :02:21.Some are spending up to ?700 a month.
:02:22. > :02:24.But they say these figures are the tip of the iceberg
:02:25. > :02:28.and are visiting victims to try and get them to stop.
:02:29. > :02:31.Ultimately, people can end up without any money,
:02:32. > :02:37.without their home, in care and it does happen in Lincolnshire.
:02:38. > :02:41.This man's mother, also living in Lincolnshire,
:02:42. > :02:45.has been scanned and he is calling for a bigger police response.
:02:46. > :02:49.The police have got to accept that this is a major crime.
:02:50. > :02:53.Each ?15, ?20, ?30 cheque is a tiny amount of money in the police's
:02:54. > :02:58.Actually when you add all this lot together
:02:59. > :03:01.this is happening at an industrial scale.
:03:02. > :03:04.It's organised crime. It is serious, organised crime.
:03:05. > :03:06.9.4 billion going out of the country.
:03:07. > :03:12.That's going towards trafficking, towards drugs, towards terrorism.
:03:13. > :03:16.These scams are orchestrated by gangs of criminals often working
:03:17. > :03:21.abroad but the individual impact is huge.

:05:36. > :05:38.Now it's being reintroduced in parts of Scotland,
:05:39. > :05:43.But could it ever return to Yorkshire and to the town
:05:44. > :05:46.which gets its name from the furry mammal - Beverley.
:05:47. > :05:51.Our environment correspondent, Paul Murphy, has been to investigate.

:05:55. > :05:59.The beaver was once a familiar sight on the lakes and rivers
:06:00. > :06:02.of East Yorkshire, thriving in their thousands
:06:03. > :06:07.By the 16th century they had been hunted to extinction,
:06:08. > :06:15.This was a commercial fish farm, it had 90 ponds across the site.
:06:16. > :06:19.East Yorkshire wildlife expert Jon Traill has his doubts
:06:20. > :06:22.that the creature would survive if it was returned to the county
:06:23. > :06:28.East Yorkshire, indeed, did have beavers but you need
:06:29. > :06:33.When they were here, we are talking a long, long time ago.
:06:34. > :06:37.The landscape of East Yorkshire was vastly different to today.
:06:38. > :06:39.The big thing that would be a limiting factor
:06:40. > :06:42.for beavers in East Yorkshire is the lack of woodland.
:06:43. > :06:45.This wooded corner called Burton Bushes is all that is left
:06:46. > :06:48.of a woodland that once surrounded Beverley.
:06:49. > :06:52.The trees were used for shipbuilding and for housing and so the beaver
:06:53. > :06:55.lost its habitat, even here in the town which
:06:56. > :07:02.Beverley-based historian Barbara English says hunting
:07:03. > :07:10.also played a big part in the beavers' demise.
:07:11. > :07:12.All through the Middle Ages they used some sort
:07:13. > :07:15.of special scent glands stuff that they got from beavers.
:07:16. > :07:19.They used it for medicine and later on for cosmetics and also beaver
:07:20. > :07:21.fur was very desirable because it was desirable a large
:07:22. > :07:29.The reintroduced beaver continues to thrive in parts of the country
:07:30. > :07:34.But after a 500-year absence, it's return
:07:35. > :07:43.Works from some of the world's most prominent artists are on display
:07:44. > :07:47.at the University of Hull as part of the City Of Culture year.
:07:48. > :07:49.Lines Of Thought, in partnership with the British Museum,
:07:50. > :07:52.will feature 70 drawings spanning 500 years.
:07:53. > :07:56.The exhibition can be seen free of charge until the end of February.

:08:39. > :08:41.We do have a warning out, mainly just for the very,
:08:42. > :08:44.very far East Coast because here we could continue to see
:08:45. > :08:46.one or two quite heavy wintry showers overnight.
:08:47. > :08:49.Elsewhere, we are still going to see temperatures hovering around zero,
:08:50. > :08:53.It's going to be a very, very cold frosty start
:08:54. > :08:56.to the day tomorrow. Allow yourself time to defrost your car.
:08:57. > :08:58.Even though there will be plenty of nice wintry sunshine,
