:00:26. > :00:33.In this town, there are thotsands of people willing to fight to keep
:00:34. > :00:37.the local A Department opdn 2 hours a day.
:00:38. > :00:39.But there's a shortage of doctors available to work it.
:00:40. > :00:43.CHANTING No ifs, no buts, no A cuts.
:00:44. > :00:46.Health bosses say this is why they've closed the accident
:00:47. > :00:52.But that response hasn't satisfied campaigners who turned out
:00:53. > :00:55.in Grantham for their biggest protest yet.
:00:56. > :00:58.Other hospitals are managing, so why aren't ours?
:00:59. > :01:02.The people of this area feel passionately about our hosphtal
:01:03. > :01:05.services and our accident and emergency unit.
:01:06. > :01:08.Traditionally, more patients use A departments in Lincoln and Boston,
:01:09. > :01:14.but many here today are amongst the thousands who've used
:01:15. > :01:16.Grantham's department at times during the night.
:01:17. > :01:22.We're not as not as young as we were, and things happdn more
:01:23. > :01:25.We're not as young as we were, and things happen more
:01:26. > :01:29.So we are more conscious of the fact that the nearest places
:01:30. > :01:31.are Lincoln or Nottingham, and they are very
:01:32. > :01:34.Each time as a family we've used the hospital, it's
:01:35. > :01:39.You don't have a heart attack at ten o'clock in the morning, do xou?
:01:40. > :01:43.So you've got to support it, we don't want to lose it at all
:01:44. > :01:45.The United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust says it supports the right
:01:46. > :01:48.of people protesting today, adding that the decision
:01:49. > :01:51.to temporarily change the opening hours of A was not an easx one,
:01:52. > :01:53.but it was made to protect patients and maintain safe services.
:01:54. > :01:55.When the department's part-time closure was announced this summer,
:01:56. > :01:59.it was expected to last thrde months, but many here await
:02:00. > :02:03.a decision over whether it will remain in place for longer -
:02:04. > :02:06.something clinical directors at the trust are recommending.

:02:18. > :02:20.The ward at Glenfield Hospital, which is used by families

:02:23. > :02:29.Hundreds marched through thd town to protest against the clostre.
:02:30. > :02:34.She's got congenital heart defect and she had surgery at Glenfield
:02:35. > :02:39.So we've just got to fight to keep it there for anyone else th`t needs
:02:40. > :02:48.Armed police have responded to an incident in Scunthorpd
:02:49. > :02:51.in the last couple of hours, close to the Screwfix
:02:52. > :02:54.Officers say that the situation was resolved peacefully,
:02:55. > :03:00.and that there was never any risk to the public.
:03:01. > :03:04.Two of our MPs are among a group of 90 who are calling for a better
:03:05. > :03:08.East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight and Scunthorpe's Nic Dakin
