:00:39. > :00:49.25,000 people packed in to see Hull start its year in the spotlight.

:00:50. > :00:52.It is like being in a completely different city, a foreign city.

:01:06. > :01:08.It is such an amazing place and the fireworks are spectacular.

:01:09. > :01:16.It was amazing, all the music that went with it, I am so

:01:59. > :02:05.recreating moments like the Blitz, Hull Fair and Hull City's

:02:06. > :02:13.Premier League promotion. there is negative stuff in the

:02:14. > :02:18.papers but if it goes on like this it will be fantastic. In some ways I

:02:19. > :02:20.want to keep it secret bid in other ways it is great to celebrate Hull

:02:21. > :02:22.and this is a great night. And from Hull's

:02:23. > :02:24.history to its future, with the first baby born

:02:25. > :02:26.in the city in 2017. Little Lincoln's footprint will join

:02:27. > :02:29.ones taken from every baby born during City of Culture year,

:02:30. > :02:44.to make a huge picture like this. It is amazing to have the first baby

:02:45. > :02:47.born in Hull 2017. It is lovely to see the babies' footprints, they

:02:48. > :02:53.will be able to look back on it when they are older. Three and a half

:02:54. > :02:59.tonnes of fireworks helped City of Culture get off to an explosive

:03:00. > :03:09.start. The organisers promised 364 more unforgettable days.

:03:10. > :03:10.There is more coverage of the fireworks display on our Facebook

:03:11. > :03:11.page. Humberside Police say they had one

:03:12. > :03:14.of their busiest shifts last night, after an evening of what they've

:03:15. > :03:16.described as "alcohol-fuelled Officers in Hull claim that at one

:03:17. > :03:20.point over New Year's Eve they were dealing with one call

:03:21. > :03:23.every 47 seconds, after a number The Queen missed the New Year's Day

:03:24. > :03:30.church service at Sandringham Other senior royals -

:03:31. > :03:34.including the Duke of Edinburgh - The Queen was forced

:03:35. > :03:37.to delay her journey from Buckingham Palace

:03:38. > :03:39.to their Norfolk estate In today's football,

:03:40. > :03:47.Lincoln City went back to the top of the National League after scoring

:03:48. > :03:50.twice late on in a 3-1 And North Ferriby United

:03:51. > :03:54.are off the bottom - And with the weather,

:03:55. > :04:02.here's Aisling Creevey. Hello there, and a very

:04:03. > :04:04.happy New Year. Over the next couple of hours

:04:05. > :04:07.we continue to see those showers Just one or two as we head

:04:08. > :04:12.through the overnight but it's certainly turning very cold as those

:04:13. > :04:15.skies start to clear, and we will see lows tonight

:04:16. > :04:17.of around one Celsius, but certainly much colder than this

:04:18. > :04:20.away from the towns. The risk of ice first

:04:21. > :04:22.thing in the morning. There's a good deal

:04:23. > :04:28.of sunshine around tomorrow. We hang onto those showers

:04:29. > :04:33.mainly close to the coast, so for most of us it is a dry

:04:34. > :04:37.but a very cold day in the store, Over the next couple

:04:38. > :04:40.of days temperatures We see a lot more cloud around

:04:41. > :04:54.as we head into Tuesday, -- again by the end of the week.

:04:55. > :04:59.We will be back tomorrow lunchtime at a quarter past one. If you have

:05:00. > :05:05.any pictures of the fireworks you can put them on our Facebook page.

:05:06. > :05:15.For many, New Year's Day was a shocker with all of that rain

:05:16. > :05:20.around. Tomorrow will be sunny, but it is getting colder. This is rain

:05:21. > :05:24.clearing from the south-east. These specks of white as snow mixed in

:05:25. > :05:26.with showers across parts of northern England, particularly

:05:27. > :05:32.across Scotland, low levels here. I say that they hazard in northern and

:05:33. > :05:36.eastern areas. I would not rule out slippery areas almost anywhere by

:05:37. > :05:41.the morning, by which time temperatures will be close to or

:05:42. > :05:44.below freezing in many places. A bright and sunny start, but still

:05:45. > :05:48.wintry showers, sliding down the North Sea coast. Some snow down at

:05:49. > :05:52.quite low levels to the north of Scotland. Here, the snow will turn

:05:53. > :05:57.to rain. Something milder creeping in off the Atlantic as it clouds

:05:58. > :06:02.over. Further south, despite that sunshine, it will feel cold. 3-5 is

:06:03. > :06:06.the best I can offer you, briefly, through the afternoon. Then

:06:07. > :06:07.temperatures fall away like a stone. Through the
