:00:42. > :00:44.It was City of Culture's surprise event, and you couldn't have
:00:45. > :00:47.A 75-metre long, 28-tonne wind turbine blade, transported
:00:48. > :01:05.into the heart of Hull city centre and transformed into a work of art.
:01:06. > :01:08.Hull, in 2017, is where they are made so you get
:01:09. > :01:12.It's made here, made by the people of Hull.
:01:13. > :01:15.We'e got a symbolic form and an actual form of its power,
:01:16. > :01:16.then it becomes self-evident, logical.
:01:17. > :01:20.The operation to move it from the factory began at 1.45am,
:01:21. > :01:22.the two miles taking around four hours.
:01:23. > :01:24.And the journey posed some real challenges.
:01:25. > :01:27.All 75 metres of the Blade have got to squeeze around this tight bend.
:01:28. > :01:29.They've already taken out the streetlights,
:01:30. > :01:32.the traffic lights and the barriers, but they still only have a few
:01:33. > :01:34.meters to spare between the court building and King Billy up there.
:01:35. > :01:37.By 10am, the supports and cranes were ready to start lifting it
:01:38. > :01:42.into position and it had drawn quite a crowd.
:01:43. > :01:47.Just like last week, it's been totally amazing.
:01:48. > :01:53.A massive, massive positive for Hull.
:01:54. > :01:55.I think it should stay for longer than two months,
:01:56. > :02:03.because I think it's really good, really.
:02:04. > :02:05.It's quite daunting, seeing its size out here
:02:06. > :02:07.when you're used to seeing it inside the factory.
:02:08. > :02:10.Bringing it out into the daylight, it's even more impressive.
:02:11. > :02:12.As a local girl, I'm quite thrilled that, for me,
:02:13. > :02:15.this monument is quite iconic but I'm part of the next piece
:02:16. > :02:17.of Hull's iconic structure so I'm proud as anything.
:02:18. > :02:20.The Blade is one of a series of sculptures being shown
:02:21. > :02:23.during City of Culture, and the impact of this one
:02:24. > :02:25.came as a surprise even to the people who'd planned it.
:02:26. > :02:28.I did an artist's impression of it but nothing prepares
:02:29. > :02:36.Hours later, the blade was finally in position and it will stay
:02:37. > :02:39.here to be seen touched and driven under for the next 10 weeks.
