:01:32. > :01:38.William Farr School is over 60 years old, but it's

:01:39. > :01:42.looking ahead to a more environmentally friendly future.

:01:43. > :01:45.Over the last five years, it's made big changes,

:01:46. > :01:48.like installing solar panels for electricity, and ground source

:01:49. > :01:51.heating that uses water pumped through the ground

:01:52. > :01:56.But some of their changes have been much smaller,

:01:57. > :01:59.We worked with them to help install the insulation and LED

:02:00. > :02:03.When you have the heating on, don't have the windows open,

:02:04. > :02:09.Anyone who wanted to design an eco or green sticker had a chance to get

:02:10. > :02:13.it professionally published and stuck around the school.

:02:14. > :02:16.The head says it'll take six years to cover the cost of the changes,

:02:17. > :02:19.but after that, it'll save them ?180,000 a year - money that's

:02:20. > :02:22.I'm sure I'll be facing another budget cut.

:02:23. > :02:27.It's a significant problem for all schools, but clearly

:02:28. > :02:30.if you're spending ?180,000 simply on lighting and heating,

:02:31. > :02:34.very naturally, the money not being used for that would go

:02:35. > :02:36.towards educating the children, and what could be better?

:02:37. > :02:39.The most recent addition is a ?900,000 biomass boiler

:02:40. > :02:45.The company that installed it helped the school finance the project,

:02:46. > :02:48.and says many are being put off by the costs involved.

:02:49. > :02:51.We worked with them to showcase that this actually is doable

:02:52. > :02:53.within Lincolnshire, and actually all over the UK.

:02:54. > :02:57.We know that there is funding out there, there's investors that

:02:58. > :03:00.want to do it, and there's companies like us who have the capability

:03:01. > :03:07.William Farr has been supported by Lincolnshire County Council.

:03:08. > :03:10.It says if more schools made these changes, it could revolutionise

:03:11. > :03:18.Schools make up about 66% of the council's carbon footprint,

:03:19. > :03:24.It teaches children that there is a consequence

:03:25. > :03:26.to the energy they use, and how they can reduce

:03:27. > :03:30.The county council is applying for funding for a project to help

:03:31. > :03:32.more schools cut their carbon footprint, and William Farr says

:03:33. > :03:37.they'll keep looking for ways to become more energy efficient.
