:00:22. > :00:28.In Bridlington, there's a large elderly population,

:00:29. > :00:35.Doctors say some patients use precious appointment time to discuss

:00:36. > :00:41.They're related to poverty, they're related to loneliness,

:00:42. > :00:43.being cold and we've found that we weren't able

:00:44. > :00:51.Well, local council and health services had an idea.

:00:52. > :00:54.They used a pot of government cash to fix things making people

:00:55. > :00:59.For 77-year-old retired builder Neil, that meant getting

:01:00. > :01:06.It's made a hell of a difference because there's no problems.

:01:07. > :01:10.I just need to press buttons and I get my system on.

:01:11. > :01:13.Neil was one of the first to benefit.

:01:14. > :01:17.319 people aged 75 or over, were told they could get help -

:01:18. > :01:22.75 of them got health and lifestyle advice, 38 were helped

:01:23. > :01:30.That resulted in more than ?300,000 being paid out they hadn't

:01:31. > :01:35.I asked this doctor what impact it had.

:01:36. > :01:42.I haven't been seeing my patients as much so that patients that I have

:01:43. > :01:45.been seeing who are coming maybe quite frequently and I was

:01:46. > :01:47.struggling to answer their needs, are now finding alternative sources.

:01:48. > :01:51.But the government's spending watchdog last month said

:01:52. > :01:54.there wasn't evidence projects like this were stopping

:01:55. > :02:01.Those behind this project says it just needs more time.

:02:02. > :02:05.It may ultimately down the line stop people attending hospital.

:02:06. > :02:07.At this early stage, that hasn't shown that position,

:02:08. > :02:10.but there is no reason to think that in the future if we continue

:02:11. > :02:13.to develop that, that wouldn't start to have that impact.

:02:14. > :02:15.Health bosses are desperately hoping to get more funding so they can

:02:16. > :02:17.expand this scheme across the East Riding.

:02:18. > :02:24.They say anything that could take pressure off doctors is priceless.

:02:25. > :02:27.Two people were hurt and ten homes had to be evacuated

:02:28. > :02:31.earlier after a car crashed into a house in Beverley.

:02:32. > :02:34.The accident on Grovehill Road caused a suspected gas leak

:02:35. > :02:40.and people had to leave their homes while it was dealt with.

:02:41. > :02:43.The Brexit Secretary has insisted the government is working

:02:44. > :02:46.on a contingency plan should EU negotiations go wrong.

:02:47. > :02:48.The Commons Foreign Affairs Committee said it would be

:02:49. > :02:51.a serious dereliction of duty by the government not to do so.

:04:44. > :04:49.degrees, 55 Fahrenheit. Note a bad week. On Tuesday, more cloudy, the

:04:50. > :04:53.temperatures could hit 15 degrees. Blue skies on Wednesday, turning a
