:00:43. > :00:50.for the Conservatives gives Theresa May a stronger hand

:00:51. > :00:53.with which to negotiate our best deal as leave the European Union.

:00:54. > :00:55.But Ukip claim the Government can't be trusted on immigration.

:00:56. > :00:59.One of the biggest issues was immigration and we will have

:01:00. > :01:01.uncontrolled immigration after Brexit with this

:01:02. > :01:05.And do Labour MPs really expect to turnaround

:01:06. > :01:10.There is absolutely no doubt that this is going to be

:01:11. > :01:16.However, you don't go into an election admitting any kind

:01:17. > :01:20.We'll hear from other parties as the campaign progresses,

:01:21. > :01:28.but it's clear that Lincolnshire is set for a long election battle.

:01:29. > :01:31.Police are investigating two armed robberies in the Stoneferry

:01:32. > :01:35.Staff at a petrol station on Leads Road were threatened by two

:01:36. > :01:38.men during the incident before a man was also attacked and robbed

:01:39. > :01:43.Police are urging residents in the area to be extra vigilant.

:01:44. > :01:47.Gay rights campaigners have been protesting to raise awareness

:01:48. > :01:49.of the plight of gay men in Chechnya.

:01:50. > :01:51.A demonstration was held in Hull this afternoon.

:01:52. > :01:54.It follows reports that the Chechnyan government has been

:01:55. > :01:59.torturing and killing gay men as part of a systematic campaign.

:02:00. > :02:02.Today is just an opportunity for the LGBT plus community of Hull

:02:03. > :02:05.and East Riding to sort of offer solidarity and support

:02:06. > :02:08.to the dreadful situation that's happening in Chechnya where LGBT

:02:09. > :02:14.people, predominantly gay men, are being persecuted, tortured

:02:15. > :02:21.Large crowds have turned out in Hull to see a reenactment

:02:22. > :02:23.of a pivotal moment that started the English Civil War.

:02:24. > :02:25.History enthusiasts put on a performance showing how

:02:26. > :02:32.-- Hull's city gates were closed to royalist forces in 1642.

:02:33. > :02:38.The sights and sounds of the 17th century,

:02:39. > :02:43.grabbing the attention of Sunday shoppers in Hull.

:02:44. > :02:47.You could see people who did not know this was on,

:02:48. > :02:49.just out doing some shopping and their jaws hit the floor

:02:50. > :02:55.I think a lot of them were wondering if we have had a time slip

:02:56. > :02:57.and they have gone back to the 17th century.

:02:58. > :03:02.It's exactly 375 years since Hull turned it's back on a king,

:03:03. > :03:06.an act which led to English Civil War.

:03:07. > :03:08.Some of them incited him to kill the governor.

:03:09. > :03:13.Today, hundreds gathered to see the moment re-enacted.

:03:14. > :03:14.It is nice for people to get together and celebrate.

:03:15. > :03:19.Since we became City of Culture, every day is so busy in Hull

:03:20. > :03:24.and it is great that lots and lots of people are coming here

:03:25. > :03:28.The story of Sir John Hotham's act of defiance was performed

:03:29. > :03:34.at the place where it happened, by the remains of Beverley Gate.

:03:35. > :03:36.It was kind of looking a bit sad really.

:03:37. > :03:39.Water in the bottom, litter was accumulating.

:03:40. > :03:43.Hopefully this new space with the banners and the interpretation

:03:44. > :03:46.that is going in will signal a new start for people to add

:03:47. > :03:51.to its story and people using it more often.

:03:52. > :03:54.Work to preserve Beverley Gate is nearly complete.

:03:55. > :03:59.Hull's current residents gathered by it to see a piece of their city's

:04:00. > :04:07.In Rugby League, Hull FC beat league leaders Castleford this afternoon.

:04:08. > :04:13.They had prop Liam Watts sent off in the first half but won 26-24.

:04:14. > :04:20.Well, it will turn colder over the next few days and overnight

:04:21. > :04:21.thicker cloud starts to build from the north.

:05:17. > :05:21.about 17 degrees. But a change in weather as we had through this week.

:05:27. > :05:30.nights. We have a cold front starting to work in across Scotland,

:05:31. > :05:35.introducing colder air towards the North. Towards the south, cloud and

:05:36. > :05:40.outbreaks of rain. In Scotland and Northern Ireland. Most places are

:05:41. > :05:46.largely dry to the south of that. We could see a touch of grassed frost

:05:47. > :05:49.for the south-west. Very cold first thing Monday morning across the

:05:50. > :05:53.sheltered glens of Scotland. Sleet and snow working in across Scotland

:05:54. > :05:57.tomorrow. Further south across the country, this band of cloud, and

:05:58. > :05:58.outbreaks of rain across England and Wales.
