:00:04. > :00:07.North. Tonight: I will survive! The woman who doctors said would die

:00:07. > :00:11.after an horrific car crash defies all the odds.

:00:11. > :00:16.I was told I was going to die, I would always be in hospital, I

:00:16. > :00:19.would never walk again, I would never talk again, all this stuff.

:00:19. > :00:23.Winter begins to bite - after the floods and gales, snow hits the

:00:23. > :00:27.north with temperatures set to plummet to -4. The latest on the

:00:27. > :00:33.weather coming up. A health trust denies it's planning

:00:33. > :00:43.to shut or downgrade this hospital. And how to have a Christmas free of

:00:43. > :00:43.

:00:43. > :00:45.In sport, Jonny comes marching home - but the Falcons' World Cup winner

:00:45. > :00:48.doesn't even get a game! That's rugby, of course - in

:00:48. > :00:58.football, Martin O'Neill prepares for the challenge of steering

:00:58. > :01:07.

:01:07. > :01:11.She crashed her car and was put on a life-support machine. Her family

:01:11. > :01:15.were told she'd probably die. But after two months in a coma, Candace

:01:15. > :01:19.Emptage opened her eyes. And just over a year later, she's learned to

:01:19. > :01:22.walk and talk again and is back at home in County Durham with her 14-

:01:22. > :01:26.year-old daughter. Candace has been talking to Adrian Pitches about her

:01:26. > :01:31.fight back to fitness - a story she believes should inspire any family

:01:31. > :01:35.coping with a similar ordeal. Candace and daughter Maddie have a

:01:35. > :01:38.lot of catching up to do. Not only have they been separated while

:01:38. > :01:48.Candace recovered in hospital - but her mum has also forgotten much of

:01:48. > :01:49.

:01:49. > :01:54.Maddie's life. I remember her being two or three, with light brown hair

:01:54. > :02:00.that was curly. When she came in to the hospital in Leeds, I thought,

:02:00. > :02:10.who is that? My mum said, that is your daughter. I said, shut up! Is

:02:10. > :02:11.

:02:11. > :02:14.it really? Mum said, yes. I said, imagined one-day opening the door

:02:14. > :02:23.and finding the teenager on your door and someone saying, that is

:02:23. > :02:27.yours. It is not like every day she is light, did this happen, did that

:02:27. > :02:32.happen? I will tell her story of when I was little. It is funny,

:02:32. > :02:36.because I am like the mum and she is like a daughter. It is like

:02:36. > :02:40.telling your daughter what happened, because she can't remember. This

:02:40. > :02:43.was a blonde Candace a year-and-a- half ago, just before the accident.

:02:43. > :02:52.Her car crashed into an ambulance near Rowlands Gill, but she has no

:02:52. > :02:56.memory of the event. It took them over an hour to cut me out, and I

:02:56. > :03:03.got airlifted to hospital, and I don't remember it, what a shame!

:03:03. > :03:10.Gutted! You were in a coma for quite a while? Two months. What

:03:10. > :03:18.were your family cold. I would die. They gave away my cats, dogs, all

:03:18. > :03:22.my furniture, my Christmas decorations. Every big. --

:03:22. > :03:27.everything. Candace has rebuilt her life and she wants other families

:03:27. > :03:32.to know it can be done. Anybody else going through, I was told I

:03:32. > :03:37.would die, I would always be in hospital, I would never walk again,

:03:37. > :03:43.never talk again, all this stuff. Always, in the back of your mind, I

:03:43. > :03:49.remember. People can and will do it. So, for Candace and Maddie it will

:03:49. > :03:52.be a lot happier Christmas this year than it was last.

:03:52. > :03:56.More of the day's news now, and a 47-year-old man's pleaded not

:03:56. > :03:59.guilty to killing a pensioner who was found dead in Hexham. Graeme

:03:59. > :04:01.Jarman, from Delves Lane in Consett, appeared before Newcastle Crown

:04:01. > :04:09.Court today to deny murdering 77- year-old Judith Richardson in

:04:09. > :04:12.August. He was remanded in custody and will be tried next year.

:04:12. > :04:16.A 19-year-old worker's been killed in an accident at the Port of

:04:16. > :04:19.Sunderland. Jason Louis Burden from Tyneside was working at the Wear

:04:19. > :04:22.Dock and Engineering Company when he was struck by a piece of metal

:04:22. > :04:27.and suffered fatal chest injuries. The Health and Safety Executive is

:04:27. > :04:33.investigating. The funeral took place today of

:04:33. > :04:36.Gary Speed. He was found hanged at his home nearly two weeks ago. It

:04:36. > :04:39.was a private funeral in North Wales, but the family say a public

:04:39. > :04:44.memorial for the former Newcastle United midfielder will be held at a

:04:44. > :04:46.later date. Two people remain in hospital

:04:46. > :04:50.tonight with hypothermia after they were rescued from a swollen River

:04:50. > :04:52.in North Yorkshire last night. It was a dramatic night, with strong

:04:52. > :04:56.winds and swollen rivers causing flooding and other disruption

:04:56. > :05:00.across the region. In total five people were rescued in three

:05:00. > :05:03.separate incidents. We'll hear more from our reporter Sharon Barbour

:05:03. > :05:07.shortly - but first, a number of flood warnings and alerts remain in

:05:07. > :05:17.place across our region. Of most concern this evening is the River

:05:17. > :05:20.Ouse in York - from there, Cathy Killick sent us this update.

:05:20. > :05:27.Yesterday, there was a deluge in the Dales, and this is the

:05:27. > :05:32.consequence. Rapidly rising river levels downstream here in York. The

:05:32. > :05:36.rain was blinding yesterday, it was just pouring off the hills. This

:05:36. > :05:40.was the Swale last night, a foaming torrent that looked in danger of

:05:40. > :05:46.sweeping away bridges in its path. 12 hours later, everything is

:05:46. > :05:50.totally benign. The pictures you are seeing after an Swale bail to

:05:50. > :05:54.stop at one point, the water was so high, the bridge was in danger, and

:05:54. > :06:01.the villagers were fearful. They are heaving a sigh of relief now.

:06:01. > :06:05.It was just horrendous. It was lapping up over that Walid you can

:06:05. > :06:09.see there, and the wall over there, it was going straight into my

:06:09. > :06:13.neighbour's garden. Ever seen anything like it in nine years?

:06:13. > :06:17.Nothing like it. It is quite frightening, actually. Did you

:06:17. > :06:23.think the bridge would go? didn't, but there was a lot of

:06:23. > :06:27.pressure on it, and it was a very scary moment. That pulse of water

:06:27. > :06:32.has now worked its way through the resistance of the Dales and is now

:06:32. > :06:37.writing here. It will peak at seven a clock. The Environment Agency

:06:37. > :06:41.says the usual areas in York will flood, but nothing unusual for the

:06:42. > :06:45.time of year. It is our first taste of winter.

:06:45. > :06:48.It was a busy night for emergency services across the region - with

:06:48. > :06:51.roads closed and rivers swollen At the height of the storm, a car was

:06:51. > :07:01.swept into the River Ure at Thornton Rust at Wensleydale,

:07:01. > :07:04.

:07:04. > :07:07.inside three people. One made it to safety. North Yorkshire police

:07:07. > :07:11.called on RAF Leconfield, who rescued two from the water - a

:07:11. > :07:16.third made it to safety. By the time we got there it was about an

:07:16. > :07:22.hour after, and I'm not entirely sure, but the river had definitely

:07:22. > :07:26.flooded its banks, about two or three feet either side of the river.

:07:26. > :07:31.Tonight, we understand two people remain in hospital with hypothermia.

:07:31. > :07:35.North Yorkshire police set up a silver command. In total, five

:07:35. > :07:40.people were rescued in three separate incidents. Across the

:07:40. > :07:44.region, road and rail travel was disrupted. In Cumbria, the bad

:07:44. > :07:50.weather caused us cause of road closures to stop 40 tons of earth

:07:50. > :07:56.had to be moved from the road at Garrigill. The floodwaters are

:07:56. > :08:00.receding tonight, but the snow has arrived. This was the scene earlier.

:08:00. > :08:10.Freezing conditions tonight bring warnings of black eyes, with

:08:10. > :08:10.

:08:10. > :08:13.drivers being urged to take care. Well, tonight is set to be the

:08:13. > :08:16.coldest night of the winter so far with temperatures likely to dip to

:08:16. > :08:23.as low as -4 Celsius. Let's hear the detail from Hannah Bayman,

:08:23. > :08:29.who's out and about in Newcastle tonight. Thanks. Yes, it is fine on

:08:29. > :08:35.the ice here in Newcastle, but the ice by tomorrow morning might not

:08:35. > :08:39.be quite so firm. We have a weather warning in place for icy patches,

:08:39. > :08:43.grating difficult driving conditions by first thing tomorrow.

:08:43. > :08:50.The starry skies, really allowing those temperatures to plummet by

:08:50. > :08:53.dawn. Minus four Celsius our low temperature, a rude awakening to

:08:53. > :09:03.Saturday morning. I will be back with all the detailed in the

:09:03. > :09:06.weather forecast. -- details. ''There are no plans to downgrade

:09:06. > :09:08.or shut the hospital.'' That's the promise from one of our health

:09:08. > :09:12.trusts after it was claimed plans were being discussed to move

:09:12. > :09:19.services away from Northallerton's Friarage Hospital. The South Tees

:09:19. > :09:21.NHS Trust needs to find 30 million of savings next year. It's admitted

:09:21. > :09:25.discussing reducing the number of beds at the hospital, but says

:09:25. > :09:28.there are no plans to downgrade it. Stuart Whincup reports.

:09:28. > :09:31.The Friarage's future has been the subject of rumour and speculation

:09:31. > :09:34.since a letter was sent to the Richmond MP William Haig. It

:09:34. > :09:36.claimed the A&E department would be scaled down, services would be

:09:36. > :09:40.transferred to Middlesbrough and the Friarage would become a

:09:40. > :09:43.glorified cottage hospital. Nonsense, says the local health

:09:43. > :09:53.trust. Even so, the unions are demanding guarantees about it

:09:53. > :09:53.

:09:53. > :09:58.future. Rumour create instability, it creates fair. When we found out

:09:58. > :10:05.about this letter, week called for immediate and urgent talks with the

:10:05. > :10:09.trust. We have had meetings, it has been raised, we have not had any

:10:09. > :10:12.cast-iron guarantees. The Friarage covers a huge geographical area of

:10:12. > :10:16.North Yorkshire, serving around 120,000 people. The Trust insists

:10:16. > :10:19.there are now plans to downgrade it. But it says it is considering

:10:19. > :10:27.reducing the number of beds at the hospital and can't rule out future

:10:27. > :10:31.changes. I have never, in the eight years we have managed at the Friar

:10:31. > :10:35.rich, given absolute guarantees about No change. We have changed

:10:35. > :10:38.things. Patient to have heart attacks in North Yorkshire go

:10:38. > :10:43.straight to the James Cook, and they are demonstrably better

:10:43. > :10:46.survival rates. But we also understand as a trust that the

:10:46. > :10:51.people living in rural North Yorkshire, they need access to a

:10:51. > :10:55.local hospital. Discussions are now taking place over how the trust is

:10:55. > :11:00.going to save the 69 million needed over the next three years.

:11:00. > :11:04.It seems likely that changes will be made in the future here, but the

:11:04. > :11:12.trust stresses that no decisions will be made without proper public

:11:12. > :11:15.consultation. More students from the North East than anywhere in the

:11:15. > :11:18.country have decided not to go to university since the introduction

:11:18. > :11:20.of tuition fees. The Labour party says the figures

:11:20. > :11:24.from UCAS show overall UK applications to university have

:11:24. > :11:27.fallen by 15 per cent, but the number in the North East is down by

:11:27. > :11:31.21 per cent compared to this time last year - the biggest fall in the

:11:31. > :11:36.country. The Government says as the main UCAS deadline isn't until mid-

:11:36. > :11:41.January, it was too early to say this is the case. UCAS also say it

:11:41. > :11:44.is too early to predict any effects from changes in tuition fees.

:11:44. > :11:49.The former ITV and BBC broadcaster Peter Rowell has been remanded in

:11:49. > :11:52.custody charged with various sex offences, including rape. His

:11:52. > :11:56.barrister today told a hearing at Bristol Crown Court - it's unlikely

:11:56. > :12:01.there would be a trial. The prosecution will now have to decide

:12:01. > :12:05.whether or not to accept any pleas made by Mr Rowell. Another hearing

:12:05. > :12:08.will be held in January. Planners have given the go-ahead

:12:08. > :12:13.for a new Tesco in Scarborough. Borough councillors voted by five

:12:13. > :12:16.to four in favour of the supermarket. The new store could

:12:16. > :12:19.create 350 jobs, but those against the plans say they're worried about

:12:19. > :12:23.the impact on businesses and will continue their fight.

:12:23. > :12:27.You're watching Look North. Still to come this Friday evening, the

:12:27. > :12:35.weekend's sport with Jeff. Plus, a festive yarn. How these ladies got

:12:35. > :12:39.together to knit their own Christmas tree.

:12:39. > :12:43.And we are all skating on ice here at the Centre for Life in Newcastle,

:12:43. > :12:53.but tomorrow, we could be on thin ice. I will be back with all the

:12:53. > :12:56.

:12:56. > :13:00.The new year will once again bring a rise in rail fares, but what else

:13:00. > :13:03.could printed 12 mean for rail travellers? The government is due

:13:03. > :13:08.to set out its proposals on how the railways should be run and funded

:13:08. > :13:15.in the future, and that might mean giving local organisations like

:13:15. > :13:20.councils a greater say. Railways, always a subject for

:13:20. > :13:27.debate. They should be cheaper. Better quality for what you get.

:13:27. > :13:31.Better food. And a better ride. have been to Glasgow recently, and

:13:31. > :13:35.it was excellent. It was on time, more or less. I thought it was

:13:35. > :13:40.excellent. There is a pressing issue, it is very expensive. A

:13:40. > :13:45.price is out a lot of people from using it. Privatisation has been a

:13:46. > :13:49.disaster. Fares are due to increase by 6% in the new year in many cases,

:13:49. > :13:54.but the government is also due to release proposals on how the

:13:54. > :14:01.railways could be run in future, based on a review already done by

:14:01. > :14:06.Sir Royal -- Roy McNulty. This may mean giving local councils more

:14:06. > :14:11.power over fun began how fares are said. That is good news according

:14:11. > :14:15.to the man who used to run the Tyne and Wear Metro. Their re good

:14:15. > :14:19.position to monitor a bus services, local rail services that they

:14:19. > :14:23.procure, but to monitor the entire northern franchise or transplant

:14:23. > :14:27.franchise, they are in a good position to do that. Proposals like

:14:27. > :14:30.this alarm rail unions. The report identifies key problems about the

:14:30. > :14:34.lack of integration in the transport networks, but then comes

:14:34. > :14:38.up with the wrong prescription to resolve it. It says we should have

:14:38. > :14:48.more fragmentation, more splits, and more fragmentation of the

:14:48. > :14:50.

:14:50. > :14:55.Where operators are waiting to see what the government will say.

:14:55. > :15:00.The North's MPs will be discussing the future of the railways this

:15:00. > :15:07.Sunday on The Politics Show. Have you got your Christmas tree

:15:07. > :15:13.up? If yours is up he might be fed up with the pine needles all over

:15:13. > :15:17.the carpet already. How about this? A need to your own Christmas tree.

:15:17. > :15:27.It is the work of a group of knitting enthusiasts in

:15:27. > :15:32.

:15:32. > :15:36.It is 7 ft tall, certainly not plastic and the only needles are

:15:36. > :15:40.associated with this Christmas tree are of the knitting variety. Every

:15:40. > :15:44.branch and bauble and even the presence underneath are all hand-

:15:44. > :15:51.knitted and here is the production line. It is the latest creation of

:15:51. > :15:58.the net and that a group. It just came out of my head. It started

:15:58. > :16:01.about June and we have just worked our way through from their. Then it

:16:01. > :16:07.and natterers meet at the library once a week and in less than 18

:16:07. > :16:13.months, they produce thousands of knitted garments for the hospitals

:16:13. > :16:20.sick children unit. We help children who are in desperate need.

:16:20. > :16:25.Children who are in hospital, people who have small children are

:16:25. > :16:29.who you cannot buy clothes for and hopefully be make children feel

:16:29. > :16:33.comfortable and help the hospitals out. While some libraries may

:16:33. > :16:38.insist on silence, at the knitters and there were the tree are proving

:16:38. > :16:44.a popular distraction. They love it, especially having it near the

:16:44. > :16:51.children's library. It is a fantastic decoration for us. A

:16:51. > :16:58.wonderful thing. So striking. explain to them that it was all

:16:58. > :17:03.knitted by the ladies. They were very impressed. It might not rival

:17:03. > :17:07.London's Norwegian spruce in stature but Cramlington's knitted

:17:07. > :17:17.tree is focusing attention on their good work and keeping the ladies in

:17:17. > :17:19.

:17:19. > :17:29.stitches as usual. You could have that! Know where to

:17:29. > :17:30.

:17:30. > :17:34.put it. Some news about Sunderland. Martin O'Neill takes charge of

:17:34. > :17:40.Sunderland for the first time on Sunday but by then, the Black cats

:17:40. > :17:44.could be in the Premier League relegation zone. 0 win for Bolton

:17:45. > :17:49.or bottom-of-the-table Wigan will mean the Irishman will kick off

:17:49. > :17:56.this latest chapter in his career in the bottom three, but he seems

:17:56. > :18:00.up for the challenge. Sunderland's training ground can be a chilly

:18:01. > :18:06.place but the new boss is assured of a warm reception this weekend,

:18:06. > :18:12.if only because so many fans have wanted him for their manager. He is

:18:12. > :18:18.under no illusions because he knows what football is like. That is very

:18:18. > :18:25.nice to hear, but I am totally aware that good will in the game

:18:25. > :18:32.last as long as the victories are coming. That is nice, it is nice to

:18:32. > :18:37.have that in the background but I do not think you step into

:18:37. > :18:43.management, judged from day one, knowing the weaknesses and

:18:43. > :18:50.strengths of the team is my job. O'Neill is trying to concentrate on

:18:50. > :18:54.securing the club's 4th home win or year. At this stage, I suppose you

:18:54. > :19:00.could say the proverbial six- pointer, that is so important for

:19:00. > :19:07.both teams from. From what you have seen, it is the club in a false

:19:07. > :19:12.position? We probably are and I think the league is so unforgiving.

:19:12. > :19:15.If you lose a couple of games, you find yourself not only in terms of

:19:15. > :19:19.lost confidence but lost position and you cannot afford to keep

:19:19. > :19:23.losing matches and that is something we have to address.

:19:23. > :19:28.Striker Niklas Bendtner has not trained because of injury and Ryan

:19:28. > :19:32.Noble is knocking on the door after scoring four times against

:19:32. > :19:36.Manchester United reserves. It is the start of a new era but the

:19:36. > :19:41.first priority is to make sure all the clubs start next season in the

:19:41. > :19:47.Premier League. Injuries are starting to mount up

:19:47. > :19:52.for Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew. Although his captain the

:19:52. > :19:58.bridge Mstill hopes to feature. Pardew be celebrating one year in

:19:59. > :20:03.the job. Christmas has come early for these

:20:03. > :20:08.youngsters. Money raised from the auction of the East and the castle

:20:08. > :20:13.United's died is helping to fund trips to Alton Towers. They are

:20:13. > :20:20.hoping for an excellent start to the season. Following a tough run

:20:20. > :20:28.of fixtures, Tarmac p Poor keep asking about the biggest test and I

:20:28. > :20:32.always say the next game is the biggest test. You have your main

:20:32. > :20:37.midfielder out, it will always be a test but it is a great opportunity

:20:37. > :20:46.for others to step up and hopefully perform and keep the guys in the

:20:46. > :20:51.team. 6th it of the table is beyond even the manager's expectations.

:20:51. > :20:55.has been an enjoyable experience. When you come into a club, it is

:20:55. > :21:01.important to make some progress and we have managed to do that. We are

:21:01. > :21:06.really happy with the team. A great set of players who fight every week

:21:06. > :21:14.to try to get the result. That is very important. We have had a great

:21:14. > :21:20.start and looked to continue would. In the championship, French

:21:20. > :21:25.midfielder Malaury Martin and could start after his spectacular winner

:21:25. > :21:32.against Bristol City. Boro looked to be losing touch with Southampton

:21:33. > :21:38.and West Ham. But Martin's winner has given the boss of fresh hope of

:21:38. > :21:45.capturing the promotion favourites. We did lose to West Ham and it

:21:45. > :21:51.looks as if there would be a gap opening, and yet we both lost that

:21:51. > :21:57.weekend in the 90 minutes up. Malaury Martin smashed run in the

:21:57. > :22:05.top corner and we took all three points. Eight rest of fate.

:22:05. > :22:15.There will be full coverage of all those matches on your local BBC

:22:15. > :22:18.

:22:18. > :22:22.Rugby Union finally and the new England coach Stuart Lancaster has

:22:22. > :22:26.insisted the door remains open for Jonny Wilkinson ahead of the 6th

:22:26. > :22:31.Nations campaign in February. The fly half was back at Kingston Park

:22:31. > :22:34.last night with his club friends giants Toulon. Also there was

:22:34. > :22:40.marked tulip. Not a night for the faint-hearted.

:22:40. > :22:44.Gales, rain showers and cold temperatures but 5,500 souls turned

:22:44. > :22:51.up with the hope of seeing one of the former crowd favourites Jonny

:22:51. > :22:55.Wilkinson, of the bench. In fact, they were to wait in vain as well

:22:55. > :23:02.consent never got to come on. Although another ex-Falcon Carl

:23:02. > :23:06.Hayman did play. Wilkinson's replacement as Number Ten Jimmy

:23:06. > :23:11.Gopperth was never going to find kicking easy on a night like this.

:23:11. > :23:15.But he did find his range in the second half to give the Falklands a

:23:15. > :23:20.six points lead in a match ruined by the weather. All the kids came

:23:20. > :23:25.at once with Toulon producing the home side's advantage. Then it was

:23:25. > :23:29.the French side stand to defend for their lives. A great result for the

:23:29. > :23:34.man of the match. We did the right things at the right times and got a

:23:34. > :23:39.result. These blocks in Europe are a welcome break from the

:23:39. > :23:43.Premiership. We want the results still, but the blocked over

:23:43. > :23:48.Christmas is a massive for us because if we can get through that,

:23:48. > :23:52.we can push on after new year and pushed ourselves up the table.

:23:52. > :24:02.would have been nice to hear from will concerned but when Johnny met

:24:02. > :24:09.

:24:09. > :24:19.Jennie, it was not to be. What a Very continental! We are a bit

:24:19. > :24:19.

:24:19. > :24:24.worried for Hannah but not because of the weather. Look where she is.

:24:24. > :24:28.Trying to grace filly slide towards you for the weather forecast. We

:24:28. > :24:33.could all be slipping and sliding around on the ice this time

:24:33. > :24:38.tomorrow. It will be a frosty and cold night with yet another weather

:24:38. > :24:42.warning from the Met Office. This time a yellow warning for ice,

:24:42. > :24:47.particularly for Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Overnight temperatures

:24:47. > :24:55.are set to dip to their lowest so far this winter, down to minus

:24:55. > :25:01.three Celsius and maybe even minus five. A bitter cold night

:25:01. > :25:06.underneath these beautiful starry skies. 84 men and you might seem

:25:06. > :25:10.Jupiter shining brightly as well, but it is these clear skies that

:25:10. > :25:18.will allow the temperatures to plummet. This evening there will be

:25:18. > :25:23.a few showers in the West, over the North Pennines. It is these as they

:25:23. > :25:27.pass through and then freeze that will create those slippery

:25:27. > :25:32.conditions on the roads first thing tomorrow. Great fun here tonight,

:25:32. > :25:38.skating on the ice, tomorrow morning might not be so much fun if

:25:38. > :25:43.you're out in your car. For tomorrow, it is a bright morning

:25:43. > :25:49.for much of North Yorkshire. Sunny spells. Cloudy in the West with a

:25:49. > :25:53.few more wintry flurries making driving conditions tricky. It is

:25:53. > :25:57.cold everywhere, the top temperature not more than three or

:25:57. > :26:03.four degrees above freezing. A touch milder in the West but

:26:03. > :26:08.everywhere feeling cold. That's Saturday, an icy start.

:26:08. > :26:14.Temperatures very low to begin the day. Further forward, the weekend

:26:14. > :26:19.gets a bit milder on Sunday. Bright skies for much of the north-east

:26:19. > :26:23.but cloudy a further west and south. Monday, bright, crisp and clear

:26:23. > :26:28.everywhere. Expect more overnight frost and they could be a dusting

:26:28. > :26:34.of snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Looking pretty

:26:34. > :26:41.wintry over the next few days but lot to enjoy here at the Centre for

:26:41. > :26:46.Life in Newcastle. The ice rink has just opened.

:26:46. > :26:50.Show we stay and watch that? A last look at tonight's headlines:

:26:50. > :26:54.Britain became the only member of the EU to roll-out signing a new

:26:54. > :26:58.deal designing to solve the euro- zone debt crisis.

:26:58. > :27:02.And a year after a car accident that put her in a coma and nearly

:27:02. > :27:07.ended her life, this woman has learned to walk and talk again and

:27:07. > :27:10.is back home. It its fingers crossed for three

:27:10. > :27:15.singers from the north-east who have made it through to The X

:27:16. > :27:21.Factor finals this weekend. Deeside is backing Amelia Lily. Tyneside

:27:21. > :27:25.will be cheering on the group Little Mix, two members of which
