:00:15. > :00:18.Good evening. The future of Darlington Football Club remains

:00:18. > :00:21.unclear tonight as fans and players await a further statement from club

:00:21. > :00:25.officials. Some fear the side could go into administration for the

:00:25. > :00:27.third time in nine years. Keith Akehurst has the latest.

:00:27. > :00:30.Storm clouds are gathering again over Darlington Football Club.

:00:30. > :00:32.Rumours abound that the Blue Square Premier League Club could go into

:00:32. > :00:35.administration. A three-line statement on the club's website

:00:35. > :00:37.says owner Raj Singh is meeting advisors and there will be a

:00:38. > :00:47.further statement next week. The players, though, have apparently

:00:48. > :01:09.

:01:09. > :01:14.been using social media to vent We've been through the same

:01:14. > :01:17.situation before. We thought it might have been different with Raj.

:01:17. > :01:21.But the lack of communication has really bothered a lot of us this

:01:21. > :01:24.time. Even amongst the turmoil, fans have

:01:24. > :01:28.been buying tickets for Sunday's game against Gateshead. Here we go

:01:28. > :01:32.again. There is just no stability. It is at times like this that you

:01:32. > :01:35.feel sorry for the people involved in the club. If Mr Singh does bring

:01:35. > :01:45.in administrators, it will be the third time it has happened to the

:01:45. > :01:46.

:01:46. > :01:50.Quakers in less than a decade. No one would be interviewed from the

:01:51. > :01:57.club on camera. All they would do was come from what was on their

:01:57. > :02:00.website. Nothing further would be said until next week.

:02:00. > :02:03.A man's died in a crash on the A1 motorway in Northumberland this

:02:03. > :02:07.afternoon. Two cars were involved in the accident on the northbound

:02:07. > :02:12.carriageway near the Swarland turnoff. An 80-year-old man was

:02:12. > :02:15.pronounced dead at the scene. A prison officer who was stabbed by

:02:15. > :02:17.an inmate and left with life- threatening injuries is to meet the

:02:17. > :02:20.Prisons Minister. Along with two colleagues at Durham's Frankland

:02:20. > :02:23.Prison, Craig Wylde was attacked with a broken bottle by convicted

:02:23. > :02:25.killer Kevan Thakrar. Last month, Newcastle Crown Court heard Thakrar

:02:25. > :02:28.was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and that he'd

:02:28. > :02:31.lashed out because he feared he was about to be attacked. He was

:02:31. > :02:34.cleared of two charges of attempted murder. Mr Wylde's family are now

:02:35. > :02:37.calling for Thakrar to be retried. A West Cumbrian man who went

:02:38. > :02:42.missing three weeks ago has been found safe and well. John Walker,

:02:42. > :02:45.who's 60 and from Whitehaven, was found last night in Middlesbrough.

:02:45. > :02:52.A grandmother from Washington is getting used to being able to walk

:02:52. > :02:55.again after having both her legs amputated. Vivienne Bell nearly

:02:55. > :02:58.died when she contracted meningitis for the second time. But now she's

:02:58. > :03:02.out of her wheelchair and even managed a bit of dancing this

:03:03. > :03:07.Christmas. Joanne Carter reports. Vivienne lost most of her fingers

:03:07. > :03:12.as well as her legs when meningitis struck three years ago. She was a

:03:12. > :03:14.hairdresser. Her husband, a professional chef, is now her carer.

:03:14. > :03:17.It has been a tough emotional rollercoaster for all her family.

:03:17. > :03:24.So getting her prosthetic limbs signifies a giant step towards a

:03:24. > :03:29.better quality of life. delighted. I really am. I just

:03:29. > :03:33.thought I would never be able to manage it when I was so poorly. Now

:03:33. > :03:38.that I am using my legs every day, it is like getting a new lease of

:03:38. > :03:45.life. Vivienne has survived meningitis

:03:45. > :03:52.twice. Once in 1983 and then again in 2008. The second time around, it

:03:52. > :04:00.left her fighting for her life in a drug induced coma for nine weeks.

:04:00. > :04:03.My legs were amputated from just below the knee. The problem was my

:04:04. > :04:08.skin was so fine and, unfortunately, it has taken so long to heal.

:04:08. > :04:11.She misses her high heels and has given away most of her shoes. But

:04:11. > :04:14.this Christmas, she was able to manage a little dance on a night

:04:14. > :04:18.out with friends. Something she never thought she would be able to

:04:18. > :04:22.do. Joanne Carter. BBC Look North, Washington.

:04:22. > :04:24.There is a busy football programme over the New Year weekend. It

:04:24. > :04:27.starts tonight as Carlisle travel to Huddersfield in League One,

:04:27. > :04:30.while in the Premier League, Newcastle take on Liverpool at

:04:30. > :04:33.Anfield, hoping a 35 million transfer deal does not come back to

:04:33. > :04:35.haunt them. 11 months after his shock record

:04:35. > :04:38.transfer to Liverpool, the shadow of Andy Carroll still looms over

:04:38. > :04:43.Tyneside despite his hometown club's surprisingly good start to

:04:43. > :04:46.the season. The England striker has not found it easy to settle into

:04:46. > :04:50.the Liverpool first team but his old boss says there are good

:04:50. > :04:55.reasons for that. He has not really had a run in that Liverpool side.

:04:55. > :04:57.Like all strikers, he probably needs a run. He is a great lad and

:04:57. > :05:00.a great player. Injuries to defenders Titus Bramble

:05:00. > :05:02.and Phil Bardsley along with Kieran Richardson missing training all

:05:02. > :05:07.week through illness have hampered new boss Martin O'Neill's

:05:07. > :05:13.preparations for Sunday's home game with leaders Manchester City. A

:05:13. > :05:19.daunting task. They seemed to be a work in progress some time ago, now

:05:19. > :05:27.they are the real deal. The number of points they have accumulated

:05:27. > :05:30.from the games they have played is excellent.

:05:30. > :05:32.Third placed Championship club Middlesbrough will hand a fitness

:05:32. > :05:34.test to injured striker Marvin Emnes before chasing a 5th

:05:34. > :05:39.consecutive win at home to Peterborough tomorrow.

:05:39. > :05:45.The Boro boss already has half an eye on the January transfer window.

:05:45. > :05:49.I think if we can add in the striking department, that will help.

:05:49. > :05:55.We have really only got two at the moment. We have to buy the right

:05:55. > :05:58.players for the right positions. Hartlepool, who're at Sheffield

:05:58. > :06:01.United tomorrow led by the newly re-appointed Neale Cooper, will

:06:01. > :06:07.honour the club's record goalscorer Ken Johnson, who died this week, at

:06:07. > :06:12.Monday's home game with Scunthorpe. Mark Tulip, BBC Look North.

:06:12. > :06:15.A Newcastle pub has been named among the top ten in Britain. The

:06:15. > :06:19.Free Trade Inn, overlooking the River Tyne at Byker, has been named

:06:19. > :06:21.in the book The Search For The Perfect Pub as a genuine Geordie

:06:21. > :06:23.Institution. It praised its friendly atmosphere, quality beer

:06:23. > :06:26.and decent music. A great to place to go, especially

:06:26. > :06:34.when it's a bit chilly outside! Here's Trai with the weather

:06:34. > :06:39.Here's Trai with the weather forecast.

:06:39. > :06:49.2011 was a second mildest year on record. Still at looking mild.

:06:49. > :06:49.

:06:49. > :06:55.Cloudy and damp tomorrow. It will turn up chillier after that.

:06:56. > :07:05.Tonight, it is dark and damp. The rain is digging its time to move

:07:06. > :07:06.

:07:06. > :07:14.into the North Sea. Temperatures of three to seven Celsius. Any

:07:14. > :07:21.brightness will be in the north East Coast. Cumbria always in the

:07:21. > :07:26.firing line for any rain coming in from the West. Tomorrow evening, it

:07:26. > :07:30.looks like most of us will see the end of the rain. It will be cloudy,

:07:30. > :07:40.not too cold. For New Year's Day, that is when they get the cold air

:07:40. > :07:46.coming in. Just a few showers in Cumbria. A quick summary. Getting

:07:46. > :07:49.chilly but bright as we see in the new year. A similar picture for

:07:49. > :07:51.Cumbria. That's how it looks so far this
