:01:21. > :01:26.The University Hospital of North Durham was at the centre of an
:01:26. > :01:29.investigation after complaints from patients' relatives. Dozens more
:01:29. > :01:33.people have come forward to complain about what they say were
:01:33. > :01:37.poor care standards at the same hospital. Last week at commission
:01:37. > :01:42.called for changes in the wake older people are treated in

:01:45. > :01:49.centred around elderly former patients in the University Hospital
:01:49. > :01:55.of North Durham. Patients and their families complained about basing
:01:55. > :01:59.care, feeding and washing. Since their concerns were aired, many
:01:59. > :02:04.more have contacted the BBC. Patients were sitting waiting for a
:02:04. > :02:10.whole load of stuff to happen. Medicines, bedpans and all this
:02:10. > :02:14.sort of thing. George wrote to the hospital several times, so when he
:02:14. > :02:19.saw the investigation he felt they had not been listening. Nothing has
:02:19. > :02:24.changed. The point is nobody has learnt a Darnah thing from all the
:02:24. > :02:29.letters I wrote, all the complaints I now understand they are getting,
:02:29. > :02:33.and the process is getting worse. David Hamilton was admitted to the

:02:54. > :02:58.and they are treating them like that. Other families with a recent
:02:59. > :03:02.experience also got in touch. This is an e-mail, a diary said to the
:03:02. > :03:08.hospital by a nurse who says her father was denied a dignified death
:03:08. > :03:14.earlier this year. This is bomb an elderly patient discharged 10 days

:03:18. > :03:23.for 10 minutes, she was desperate for the toilet. When the nurse
:03:23. > :03:28.finally arrived, she had wept herself. An inspection by the Care
:03:28. > :03:32.Quality Commission last August reported a hospital was not

:03:52. > :04:02.
:04:02. > :04:09.They are encouraging anyone who is unhappy about their treatment to

:04:48. > :04:53.Now, five people in Stockton have been treated in hospital after
:04:53. > :04:59.taking the drug methadrone. It is believed the drugs were
:04:59. > :05:05.contaminated. We have got a lot of us cheap drugs on the street,
:05:05. > :05:09.coming from abroad, bought off the Internet. One person who uses drugs
:05:09. > :05:14.said to me, it is a ticking time bomb, you do not know what you are
:05:14. > :05:18.taking, but you take it. This evening, two men remain in hospital
:05:18. > :05:23.while tests are taking place to find that what substances were
:05:23. > :05:28.mixed with the drugs. These are being sold illegally, so there is
:05:28. > :05:32.no control over those drugs, so you do not know the short-term and
:05:33. > :05:38.long-term effects. Three people have been arrested and are now
:05:38. > :05:41.being questioned on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. People
:05:41. > :05:49.love taken methadrone and are feeling unwell have been told to go
:05:49. > :05:55.to hospital as soon as possible. Stewart joins us now from our BBC

:05:59. > :06:03.investigation said the priority was to get the contaminated drugs off
:06:03. > :06:08.the street. They have already sees a small batch of methadrone which

:06:13. > :06:17.today in Stockton and more are expected over the next 24 hours.
:06:17. > :06:20.But since last night there have been no new reports of people
:06:20. > :06:30.feeling the ill-effects after taking these drugs and they hope
:06:30. > :06:31.
:06:31. > :06:35.the problem has been contained to these five people. A cricket coach
:06:35. > :06:39.has been jailed for six years at Newcastle Crown Court for abusing

:08:01. > :08:06.begin to be mitigated through managing things around their body
:08:06. > :08:10.clock and not hours. Dr Kelly was courted by politicians of all

:09:58. > :10:03.to vanish from new buildings. On Wednesday a Street naming and
:10:03. > :10:08.numbering policy goes before councillors. If we are
:10:08. > :10:16.superstitious, few of us admit it. I do not think number 13 would put
:10:16. > :10:21.me off. I would buy a house as long as I wanted a house. What is wrong
:10:21. > :10:27.with number 13. People who are superstitious with think something
:10:27. > :10:33.is wrong with it, but it would not bother me. Many councils got rid of
:10:33. > :10:38.number 13 many years ago. Do not walk under a ladder, do not put a

:10:51. > :10:54.He was never seen again. Plenty more to come tonight: We are live
:10:54. > :10:57.with the Women's Institute group which took on the might of a power

:11:14. > :11:18.Today is a double cause for celebration for one of the oldest

:11:38. > :11:42.electricity bill. Look at all these smiling faces. It
:11:43. > :11:50.was a very different story three weeks ago. The last time I was here
:11:50. > :11:54.it was all doom and gloom. The ladies basic fleet did not know if
:11:54. > :11:58.they would serve five. They had been landed with a 5,000 energy
:11:58. > :12:03.bill and they did not know if they could pay it, but there have been
:12:03. > :12:08.developments. Last week we had a phone call from Npower saying they

:12:14. > :12:20.only that, they cancelled the last bill we paid to them for our last

:12:34. > :12:39.Goliath battle, wasn't it? Yes. What kind of a mad person takes on
:12:39. > :12:43.the WI? A very foolish person. We are a strong force to be reckoned
:12:43. > :12:48.with and we do not like to see injustice and we felt we had to
:12:48. > :12:53.fight for this and we did. You were always going to make a stand and
:12:53. > :12:59.you were never going to back down? No, we had a tremendous amount of
:12:59. > :13:04.support behind us from everybody, the locals, the press and the media,
:13:04. > :13:09.so we had that support and we were not going to back down. These
:13:09. > :13:13.ladies definitely know how To Make A Stand and they also know how to
:13:13. > :13:19.make a rather nice spread, as you can see it. Congratulations come a
:13:19. > :13:25.ladies, happy anniversary, and here is still another 95 years. I think
:13:25. > :13:29.this party is going to go on Fashion model, pop star. Some would
:13:29. > :13:31.consider them to be dream jobs. But what about this select group of
:13:31. > :13:34.workers in North Yorkshire? If their posts were ever advertised,
:13:34. > :13:44.then surely, applications would run into the hundreds. They drink beer

:13:44. > :13:47.for a living. Peter Lugg has been looking for a vacancy.
:13:47. > :13:50.We all know the feeling, the start of another early shift at work.
:13:50. > :13:57.Reluctantly, we join our fellow band of stragglers as they wend

:14:11. > :14:12.
:14:12. > :14:15.stop sickness is unheard of. Have I missed something? Mystery solved.
:14:15. > :14:23.But don't be too hard on this lot. They're actually working
:14:23. > :14:31.conscientiously at what they're paid to do. Beer tasting it is a
:14:31. > :14:37.serious business. We are all fully qualified and trained up. In a
:14:37. > :14:41.tough week, how many pints the have to drink? Like the wine industry,
:14:41. > :14:44.you do not have to drink it. Upstairs in the brewery, less

:14:50. > :14:54.away from the family firm to set up his own business. It can't have
:14:54. > :15:04.been a bad decision. Production is now running at 20 million pints a

:15:04. > :15:10.year and Black Sheep are one of the largest employers in the Dales.
:15:10. > :15:13.Initially, we were in Scottish and Newcastle's hands. That evolved and
:15:13. > :15:19.now that Simon and his part of the family have got back control of the
:15:19. > :15:24.business again, that is great for us because we have a real focus now

:15:27. > :15:34.Both and you brew is being launched by Christopher Timothy and part of

:15:45. > :15:48.Steve Howey was a black and white for 11 years and retired from the

:15:52. > :15:55.about his long struggle to come to terms with life after football. And,
:15:55. > :15:58.as Katie Gornall reports, he believes that, following the death
:15:58. > :16:08.of Gary Speed, it's time for the game to address one of its biggest
:16:08. > :16:09.
:16:09. > :16:13.taboos - mental health. He was the defensive rock for Kevin
:16:13. > :16:18.Keegan's team. An England international who later played for
:16:18. > :16:22.Manchester City and Bolton before retiring at the age of 33. It is a
:16:22. > :16:25.huge shock coming into football and you do not realise how much you
:16:25. > :16:30.miss it. You sometimes wake up because you have nothing to do and
:16:30. > :16:35.you wonder what the point is in getting out of bed. There was a
:16:35. > :16:39.point where I was really a law and could not find a way out. You're in
:16:39. > :16:45.the sport and looking at yourself and you just think, this is going
:16:45. > :16:49.to go one of two ways here. You're looking at had are talking to
:16:49. > :16:57.somebody and getting some help or there is the other route. We all
:16:57. > :17:02.know what that is. Steve's life is back on track. I have children I
:17:02. > :17:07.absolutely adore her and for me, it was all about them. Also, my
:17:07. > :17:13.parents as well. Did not want them to suffer any more. Now, personally
:17:13. > :17:16.and professionally, everything is going really well. I have a great
:17:16. > :17:21.job and a great personal life and things are going from strength to
:17:21. > :17:25.strength. He is speaking now about his past Troubles because after the
:17:25. > :17:30.death of Gary Speed, he wants to address the stick back around
:17:30. > :17:34.mental health than the game. It is a really serious illness and I
:17:34. > :17:38.think it needs to be addressed. We need to have some sort of action
:17:38. > :17:45.plan where we have something for players in football as well as out
:17:45. > :17:48.of football. Fascinating. And you can see more
:17:48. > :17:57.of that interview with Steve Howey on Late Kick Off on BBC 1 tonight
:17:57. > :18:00.Time for Team Talk and a fairly fiesty Tyne-Wear derby. All the
:18:00. > :18:03.goalmouth action in a moment but there was plenty more going on, all
:18:03. > :18:06.over the pitch, Dawn? Newcastle won the yellow card count, 5-4, but the
:18:07. > :18:12.two reds went to Sunderland, who've now had four players sent off in
:18:12. > :18:16.the last three derbies between the two. It was a bit tasty and you
:18:16. > :18:19.sensed it would be as more than 52,000 fans from both sides of the
:18:19. > :18:29.derby divide converged on the stadium. It kicked off, so to speak,
:18:29. > :18:32.
:18:32. > :18:39.right after kick-off. In fact, it took less than 40 seconds. The foul
:18:39. > :18:49.here set the tone for the whole game. 97 minutes later, asked great
:18:49. > :18:49.
:18:49. > :18:54.read. Possibly the longest gap between cards in any game. A three-
:18:54. > :18:58.match ban for that backhander. He made a bit of a backhander of it
:18:58. > :19:03.but there was stuff going on all over the pitch. Both sides steaming
:19:03. > :19:08.in there and the referee it, I think, had a pretty decent game of
:19:08. > :19:12.a all. This, of course. The managers
:19:12. > :19:17.getting involved as well. Alan Pardew admitted it was not his
:19:17. > :19:22.finest hour. I have not covered myself and glory
:19:22. > :19:28.but I felt a little bit of injustice. I was really angry that
:19:28. > :19:31.so many physical challenges were going and which were unnecessary. I
:19:31. > :19:37.was a little bit disappointed with our first half because they got
:19:37. > :19:46.wrapped up in the attempt to unsettle her game planned. I
:19:46. > :19:49.thought it was ugly. The played splendidly forests. It was rather
:19:49. > :19:54.foolish and I think he should leave that for me if there is going to be
:19:54. > :19:56.a word to the referee. You could say mitigating circumstances but I
:19:56. > :19:59.think Newcastle were very lucky themselves to finish with 11
:19:59. > :20:01.players. Contrasting views there, as you
:20:01. > :20:04.might expect, from the two managers. And Newcastle had their goalkeeping
:20:04. > :20:14.coach, Andy Woodman, sent to the stands at half-time. But there was
:20:14. > :20:17.
:20:17. > :20:21.some football played, as well! This type of thing you see every week.
:20:21. > :20:25.It was spotted by the referee and are still a penalty. It does not

:20:41. > :20:47.looked like they were not going to get back into it. A fabulous double
:20:47. > :20:52.save and if it had gone in, it would have been game over. An
:20:52. > :21:02.attacker's tackle there. Newcastle got the penalty and mist and a
:21:02. > :21:08.
:21:08. > :21:11.similar style. In typical derby fashion,. Shower is now the top
:21:11. > :21:18.scorer for Newcastle and the derbies and has scored more than
:21:18. > :21:24.any other player that than Jacqui Milburn. Even though I did not feel
:21:24. > :21:31.great, I wanted to be involved and be part of the experience. It is
:21:31. > :21:36.fantastic to be able to score a number of goals against our rivals.
:21:36. > :21:41.He would never have missed that penalty. He is a diamond it in
:21:41. > :21:48.terms of penalties against Sunderland. Unlucky today. I was
:21:48. > :21:52.really disappointed when they got the equaliser. I feel like there
:21:52. > :21:56.are a lot of positives to be taken. You can always say if we kept

:21:58. > :22:01.Middlesbrough are back in the Championship playoffs after beating

:23:39. > :23:42.Well, it wasn't just football where the cards were being brandished
