:00:07. > :00:29.Hello and welcome to Thursday's Look North. Tonight: all the people are
:00:30. > :00:32.cheering for the car. Police investigating the death of a
:00:33. > :00:36.three`year`old boy in a hit`and`run incident say they want to trace a

:01:03. > :01:04.the reward for Gus Poyet's men as Sunderland beat Southampton in the
:01:05. > :01:21.League Cup. It's been Sunderland's big day on
:01:22. > :01:26.the world stage. The launch of the car that promises work for thousands
:01:27. > :01:28.here in the North for years to come. Before an audience of media
:01:29. > :01:32.representatives from around the globe, the new`look Nissan Qashqai
:01:33. > :01:37.went on show at a glitzy event in London. And while it involved plenty
:01:38. > :01:42.of hype, it does mean one big thing for Wearside ` jobs. Our news
:01:43. > :01:54.correspondent Peter Harris sent this report from the capital. The report
:01:55. > :02:13.contains flashing lights. It was not undersold.
:02:14. > :02:22.This was Sunderland's they may. It is quite remarkable. I have been
:02:23. > :02:38.with Nissan for 28 years. It is very thrilling for me. We were awarded
:02:39. > :02:45.the original vehicle seven years ago and to launch the next generation is
:02:46. > :02:48.fantastic. At this point many reporters will tell you about the
:02:49. > :02:52.features of this model. Unfortunately I have not the
:02:53. > :03:03.slightest idea what I am talking about. But what this means for the
:03:04. > :03:10.region is jobs. Production of this vehicle started in 2006. Within five
:03:11. > :03:17.years 1 million had ruled out. Now they work around the clock. All the
:03:18. > :03:28.people in Sunderland are cheering for the car. This ensures a lot of
:03:29. > :03:33.jobs in Sunderland. The competition. Russia will also build
:03:34. > :03:42.the vehicle. One Russian journalist thinks they prepare at the cars from
:03:43. > :03:45.Sunderland. People will try to buy the first cars that are made in
:03:46. > :03:53.Britain instead of the ones made in Russia. This week it was revealed
:03:54. > :03:57.new car sales are at a five`year high. Perhaps the hype for this car
:03:58. > :04:08.is justified after all. Police investigating the death of a
:04:09. > :04:13.three`year`old boy in a hit`and`run incident in Darlington say they want
:04:14. > :04:16.to trace a van seen in the area. Danny Wake was killed three days
:04:17. > :04:22.ago, as he was crossed Falmer Road in the town. Our Correspondent Mark
:04:23. > :04:25.Denten has been following developments and joins us from our
:04:26. > :04:28.newsroom. Mark, Danny was killed on Monday but the police now want to
:04:29. > :04:33.find this particular vehicle don't they?
:04:34. > :04:37.They do. Danny who was three was struck by a vehicle as he was
:04:38. > :04:40.crossing Falmer Road in Darlington just off Neasham Road in the town on
:04:41. > :04:44.Monday morning at about 10.35. He was walking home from the shops with
:04:45. > :04:47.his mum, brother and another child. Police told us yesterday that they
:04:48. > :04:50.were returning home to choose Christmas presents from a catalogue.
:04:51. > :04:55.Durham police have already issued CCTV of Danny seen here in the green
:04:56. > :04:59.jacket moments before he was hit by a vehicle. It appears he somehow
:05:00. > :05:03.strayed away from his mother and was hit by an oncoming vehicle but that
:05:04. > :05:05.vehicle did not stop. Now police have been combing hours of CCTV
:05:06. > :05:09.footage and have already appealed for anyone who saw anything
:05:10. > :05:12.suspicious to contact them. They've asked for passengers on board two

:06:18. > :06:21.where he pleaded not guilty. And a 48`year`old woman has died
:06:22. > :06:24.after apparently choking on food in a restaurant. Paramedics were called
:06:25. > :06:30.to Frankie and Benny's at Teesside Park in Stockton. Police say other
:06:31. > :06:32.diners and ambulance staff tried, unsuccessfully, to resuscitate the
:06:33. > :06:36.woman, who's believed to have collapsed, suffering from an
:06:37. > :06:40.obstructed airway. A spokesperson for the restaurant said their
:06:41. > :06:44.condolences go to the family. A search for a man who'd gone
:06:45. > :06:48.missing in Northumberland has had a happy ending. The 34`year`old hadn't
:06:49. > :06:51.been seen since walking out of his home in Longhorsley on Tuesday
:06:52. > :06:54.morning. Police, including mounted officers and an underwater unit,
:06:55. > :06:57.were involved in the search. A mobile police station was also set
:06:58. > :07:00.up in the village, as volunteers from Northumberland Mountain Rescue

:07:11. > :07:14.youngsters, from around the North East and Cumbria, were all given a

:07:36. > :07:40.tearoom have hit back at claims they're running "the rudest cafe in

:07:44. > :07:46.of staff at Temporary Measures in Keswick, "made them feel so
:07:47. > :07:51.unwelcome, it was like he was having to work on his day off." That

:07:55. > :07:58.that still maintains a healthy respect for a good, old`fashioned
:07:59. > :08:14.surly disposition." Mark McAlindon has the story.
:08:15. > :08:22.I am sure the chef knows how to fix a Waldorf salad. Find out if he

:08:32. > :08:39.customer service many of us will picture John Cleese as Basil Fawlty
:08:40. > :08:44.daring his customers to criticise him. And according to some of our
:08:45. > :08:46.newspapers, this little tearoom in Keswick has inherited Basil's mantle

:09:22. > :09:39.programme has been asking the owner to take part. I mentioned the
:09:40. > :09:44.northern thing. It was turned into something it was not. It was never

:09:48. > :09:52.business that is rude to ignore them.
:09:53. > :09:54.One tabloid even called this "the rudest cafe in Britain." But
:09:55. > :09:57.customers today were giving the whole affair short shrift. So, if
:09:58. > :10:01.this is another north`south divide, it's clear which side Emma and her
:10:02. > :10:10.customers today are on. We have had a warm welcome. We have to come up

:10:30. > :10:33.Jim Moir ` who's better known, of course, as Vic Reeves. Initially, it

:10:42. > :10:43.tonight's Look North report, our entertainment reporter Sharuna Sagar
:10:44. > :10:47.was given exclusive access behind the scenes, to find out if the new

:11:25. > :11:28.Canada is showing it. There is also an airline showing it as
:11:29. > :11:31.entertainment. The production's returned to the

:11:40. > :11:42.the first series getting a peak audience of more than twho million,

:14:46. > :14:50.And the new series of Hebburn starts on Tuesday night at ten o'clock on
