:00:00. > :00:10.Hello and welcome to Wednesday's Look North. Tonight: Three die in an

:00:11. > :00:16.early morning head`on crash. Three others are seriously injured.

:00:17. > :00:19.Fears that hundreds of jobs could go from Npower here in the North. The

:00:20. > :00:23.latest coming up. Found ` one of Britain's most wanted

:00:24. > :00:31.criminals is discovered in a remote country house. Cumbria Constabulary

:00:32. > :00:36.deals effectively with organised crime in all of its forms. He was

:00:37. > :00:41.arrested and I can reassure the public that we are out to protect

:00:42. > :00:48.them. And how this two`year`old poster boy for Nissan went on to

:00:49. > :00:51.work at the Wearside car plant. In sport ` good news and bad for

:00:52. > :00:54.Carlisle United. And we meet the team on an

:00:55. > :01:04.unbelievable winning run of 66 matches.

:01:05. > :01:06.First tonight, the horrific head`on collision which left three people

:01:07. > :01:10.dead and three others seriously injured. The crash, involving a car

:01:11. > :01:13.and a van, happened early this morning on the B1248 road near

:01:14. > :01:20.Wharram Percy, a village to the south of Malton in North Yorkshire.

:01:21. > :01:25.It's emerged that the woman and the two men who died all worked at a

:01:26. > :01:35.local bacon factory. Phil Connell has been at the scene all day and

:01:36. > :01:38.joins us live from there now. Phil. The road here has reopened tonight

:01:39. > :01:44.after being closed for the last 11 hours. A special police team has

:01:45. > :01:48.been on the scene here since ten o'clock this morning, trying to

:01:49. > :01:52.establish exactly what has happened. That may take days or potentially

:01:53. > :01:55.even weeks. For those police teams that have been here today, additions

:01:56. > :02:03.have been described as difficult and distressing.

:02:04. > :02:05.Police called to the scene of this morning's crash have described the

:02:06. > :02:10.collision as one of the worst they have seen. In one car, to man and a

:02:11. > :02:16.woman were certified dead at the scene while three others, one in a

:02:17. > :02:20.second vehicle, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

:02:21. > :02:25.Police said both vehicles had caught fire. It is quite a goal seemed to

:02:26. > :02:31.be present at. It is safe to say that there has been a small fire at

:02:32. > :02:38.the scene. `` it is quite difficult to be present at. The three people

:02:39. > :02:44.killed in the car, believed to be Polish, were employed at the bacon

:02:45. > :02:50.factory and were on their way to work when the crash happened. A

:02:51. > :02:54.spokesman said they were extremely saddened to hear about the accident

:02:55. > :02:57.and were offering support to the families of those who died. The

:02:58. > :03:03.factory's flag has been at half mass, with one fellow worker blaming

:03:04. > :03:10.the accident on poor local roads. Shocking but not surprised. The way

:03:11. > :03:13.the road system is around here, the A64 is invariably blocked, it often

:03:14. > :03:19.has accidents. Locals have described this stretch of road as a notorious

:03:20. > :03:22.accident blackspot. In the last three years, they say at least four

:03:23. > :03:31.separate et al and the have happened here, with campaigners calling for

:03:32. > :03:36.improved safety measures. `` four separate fatalities. This man has

:03:37. > :03:41.been campaigning for improved safety measures. It is something that is

:03:42. > :03:44.shocking but not surprising. We have had some very bad cases of driving

:03:45. > :03:48.through the village in the last few years. There have been some

:03:49. > :03:51.fatalities up there in the past two years and we at the village are

:03:52. > :03:56.concerned about this guide and overtaking that takes place on the

:03:57. > :04:01.road. Late this afternoon, police began the process of lifting both be

:04:02. > :04:04.a gold onto the back of two trucks. They have been removed from the

:04:05. > :04:12.scene, the ban is a burnt out shell and the car is covered with

:04:13. > :04:17.tarpaulin. `` the van. Police are appealing for witnesses. They want

:04:18. > :04:19.to trace the driver of a van who may have passed these two vehicles

:04:20. > :04:24.shortly before the collision happened. Tonight, the three people

:04:25. > :04:30.rescued from this crash remain in a critical condition in hospital with

:04:31. > :04:36.one being described as very serious injuries. `` with water are being

:04:37. > :04:39.described as a serious injuries. Some breaking news now, and it's

:04:40. > :04:42.believed the energy company Npower will announce tomorrow that it's

:04:43. > :04:45.cutting 1,400 jobs across the country. More than 3,000 people work

:04:46. > :04:50.for the German`owned business here in the North. So could they be

:04:51. > :04:58.affected? Our Business Correspondent Ian Reeve is in our Tees newsroom

:04:59. > :05:03.now. Ian, what more can you tell us? Carroll, the company has three sites

:05:04. > :05:08.in our region. It is a big employer. About 2000 people are employed at

:05:09. > :05:14.the call centre in County Durham, 570 people are employed at a similar

:05:15. > :05:17.contact centre in Thornaby. 520 people working Peterlee at a call

:05:18. > :05:22.centre in County Durham. The staff deal with calls from some B's gas

:05:23. > :05:24.and electricity customers. We know that the company has been looking at

:05:25. > :05:33.a review of the business since August. `` deal with calls from

:05:34. > :05:37.Npower's gas and electricity customers. There is a big fear that

:05:38. > :05:42.one or more buildings could close. The GMP union seems convinced that

:05:43. > :05:47.both Thornaby and Peterlee will close with the loss of more than

:05:48. > :05:49.1000 jobs. For the company was my part, they say they want to talk to

:05:50. > :05:55.the workforce first before the talks to the media. We do think they will

:05:56. > :05:59.confirm tomorrow that 1400 jobs across the country will be offshore

:06:00. > :06:02.debt to India, we will have to wait and see the detail but it looks like

:06:03. > :06:08.it could be bad news for our patch. Thank you.

:06:09. > :06:11.He was one of Britain's most wanted criminals ` and the subject of a

:06:12. > :06:14.Europe`wide search. But last night, Brian Thexton was captured at a

:06:15. > :06:18.remote Cumbrian house. Police won't give the exact location of where he

:06:19. > :06:22.was discovered, but say it was near the town of Kirkby Stephen. Graham

:06:23. > :06:26.Moss has this report. This is remote hill country. Brian

:06:27. > :06:29.Thexton, one of the most wanted men in the country, was arrested at what

:06:30. > :06:32.police say was an isolated rural property close to Kirkby Stephen,

:06:33. > :06:42.though they won't reveal the exact location. Over recent weeks we have

:06:43. > :06:45.worked with our organised crime intelligence units, across the

:06:46. > :06:49.country, in response to some intelligence that he was in our

:06:50. > :06:54.area. I cannot talk about the specifics of how we located him but

:06:55. > :06:58.we were able to find him last night and arrest him. It was the routine

:06:59. > :07:03.arrest. Hard work had gone in beforehand in finding him in an

:07:04. > :07:07.isolated property. Kirby Stephen is not a community used to major police

:07:08. > :07:11.operations. It is a small market town on the edge of the Pennines.

:07:12. > :07:15.The population is under 2000. This is what local people had to say

:07:16. > :07:20.about what happened. It is very quiet and rural. People go about

:07:21. > :07:24.their own business in their own town. It is quite unusual for

:07:25. > :07:29.something like this to occur around here. I am sure people are locking

:07:30. > :07:33.their doors tight tonight because it is the sort of area where people do

:07:34. > :07:38.not lock their doors. People trust each other and trust the neighbours.

:07:39. > :07:43.I saw a little bit on Facebook that a fugitive had been arrested in a

:07:44. > :07:49.rural location. I was a bit surprised, to be honest. I was

:07:50. > :07:53.stunned. I was not watching the television and then I heard Kirby

:07:54. > :08:02.Stephen. We all looked at each other and thought, we knew nothing about

:08:03. > :08:05.this. It is `` it has passed us by. Cumbria Constabulary deals with

:08:06. > :08:09.organised crime in all of its forms. The man was arrested without

:08:10. > :08:11.any danger to the public and I can reassure the public that we are out

:08:12. > :08:14.to protect them. While people in this East Cumbria

:08:15. > :08:17.community are still catching up with the events of the past 24 hours,

:08:18. > :08:20.Brian Thexton has since been transferred from Carlisle to Durham

:08:21. > :08:22.for further questioning. Graham Moss, BBC Look North, Kirkby

:08:23. > :08:25.Stephen. Well, Brian Thexton has been

:08:26. > :08:28.convicted or accused of many high`profile crimes in the North in

:08:29. > :08:31.recent years. Our news correspondent, Adrian Pitches, has

:08:32. > :08:38.more details and joins me now. Adrian, what are the headlines? I

:08:39. > :08:43.guess there are three headline crime. He absconded while awaiting

:08:44. > :08:48.sentence at Newcastle Crown Court for his part in a nationwide ring

:08:49. > :08:51.that stole heavy goods vehicles. He is awaiting sentence for theft. He

:08:52. > :08:55.was also awaiting trial for the supply of Class A drugs ` cocaine `

:08:56. > :08:58.across the North East. And he's wanted for questioning by both the

:08:59. > :09:00.Durham and Northumbria forces about robberies at remote properties where

:09:01. > :09:07.the householders were tied up and threatened. Those robberies were

:09:08. > :09:10.particularly nasty? Yes. They were aggravated burglaries. We reported

:09:11. > :09:14.both of these in 2012. In June of that year, in Northumberland, a

:09:15. > :09:18.couple were tied up, they ran a jewellery business. Three men broke

:09:19. > :09:20.in, tied them up, stole jewellery and their car, drove to the

:09:21. > :09:29.jewellers and stool more jewellery there. And then in October of 2012,

:09:30. > :09:32.in Bishop Auckland, a similar operation, two men actually posing

:09:33. > :09:36.as police officers knocked on the door of the remote property, were

:09:37. > :09:39.let in, these men then burst in, tied up the couple and stole more

:09:40. > :09:43.jewellery. Five people have been charged for these crimes. But the

:09:44. > :09:47.local police forces would like to talk to this gentleman as well. And

:09:48. > :09:52.he has a previous conviction for a high`profile series of cashpoint

:09:53. > :09:56.thefts? Yes. Between 2005 and 2006, there are a number of these thefts

:09:57. > :10:07.by the so`called hole in the wall gang, and this involves ram raiding

:10:08. > :10:11.using a fork lift truck. They netted ?350,000 in cash, this gang. The

:10:12. > :10:17.ringleader was Brian Thexton. He was jailed for four years in 2007. So

:10:18. > :10:26.what happens next? He has been transferred from Cumbria's custody

:10:27. > :10:34.to Durham's. Charges might be laid within the next 24 hours. Thank you.

:10:35. > :10:38.One of the region's MPs is calling for all disabled people to be exempt

:10:39. > :10:40.from housing benefit rules, dubbed the "bedroom tax". Under the change,

:10:41. > :10:44.introduced earlier this year, thousands of council tenants in the

:10:45. > :10:46.region have lost part of their housing benefit after being deemed

:10:47. > :10:49.to be under`occupying their homes. The Labour MP for Middlesbrough,

:10:50. > :10:53.Andy McDonald, told the Commons today he believes the Government's

:10:54. > :10:59.refusing to listen to charities. The disability benefits Consortium of

:11:00. > :11:02.over 50 charities has signed a letter to the Secretary of State

:11:03. > :11:07.Colin for immediate action to exempt and disabled people from the bedroom

:11:08. > :11:13.tax. Why on earth does he and his government refused to listen? What

:11:14. > :11:17.we have done is exempted disabled people who need an extra room at it

:11:18. > :11:23.does, I think, come back to a basic issue of fairness. The basic issue

:11:24. > :11:26.of fairness is this. People in private sector rented accommodation

:11:27. > :11:31.who get housing benefit do not get a subsidy for spare rooms whereas

:11:32. > :11:36.people in council houses do get a subsidy for spare rings. That is why

:11:37. > :11:41.it is right to end it, thinking of the 1.8 million people in the

:11:42. > :11:44.country on housing waiting lists. You're watching Wednesday's Look

:11:45. > :11:49.North. Coming up: Jeff's here with tonight's sport. And the young

:11:50. > :11:55.poster boy who helped recruit workers for the Nissan car plant

:11:56. > :11:58.becomes one himself. The weather is set to stay fairly quiet over the

:11:59. > :12:07.next few days but it will feel colder by the weekend. I will have

:12:08. > :12:10.all the details later. Inspections of some Cumbrian schools

:12:11. > :12:12.are being brought forward because of concerns about "below average"

:12:13. > :12:15.standards. Ofsted says Cumbria doesn't have enough secondary

:12:16. > :12:19.schools that are judged to be "good or outstanding". It follows a

:12:20. > :12:22.similar judgement by Ofsted on some schools in Northumberland. In fact,

:12:23. > :12:25.there's evidence the North is lagging behind the rest of the

:12:26. > :12:28.country in a number of key areas. One is the relatively poor

:12:29. > :12:32.performance of children from low income families. In the first of a

:12:33. > :12:42.series of reports for Look North's Big Question, we ask why are we

:12:43. > :12:45.bottom of the class? Time to experiment for these GCSEs

:12:46. > :12:49.students in Durham. This is the Belmont community School which, like

:12:50. > :12:54.its pupils, appears to have a formula for success. Children from

:12:55. > :12:59.all backgrounds do well. But in some other parts of the North, the

:13:00. > :13:03.picture is less positive. With those from low income families tending to

:13:04. > :13:06.lag behind. We know that those groups start off at a lower level

:13:07. > :13:10.when they start school so we need to look at this across`the`board from

:13:11. > :13:14.cradle to career, what can we do at every stage to ensure those young

:13:15. > :13:19.people have all of the things they need to be able to progress? Are 57%

:13:20. > :13:26.of north`east children achieve private GCSEs including endless and

:13:27. > :13:34.maths in 2012. Slightly below the national average of 59. But pupils

:13:35. > :13:39.on free school meals, it is just 33% to hit the target compared to 36%

:13:40. > :13:44.across the country. The proportion of children on free school meals

:13:45. > :13:49.hitting the bench Park in Northumberland was just 26%. ``

:13:50. > :13:54.hitting the benchmark. This is a problem that worries ministers. And

:13:55. > :13:58.the government we are giving every school the money to deliver even for

:13:59. > :14:01.disadvantaged young people who are funded with almost double the rate

:14:02. > :14:07.of funding for their time in education as a young person from a

:14:08. > :14:10.non`disadvantaged background. At Belmont at least, the approach seems

:14:11. > :14:15.to work. The school uses funding from the government's pupil premium

:14:16. > :14:18.to ensure pupils do not miss out, regardless of family income. That

:14:19. > :14:23.can mean help with buying stationery are calculators or going on school

:14:24. > :14:27.trips or extra tuition were needed. Why should there be any different in

:14:28. > :14:32.aspiration for students because of their economic circumstances? To you

:14:33. > :14:37.think you can narrow that gap? Absolutely. We have been successful

:14:38. > :14:41.in narrowing the gap in the last few years to a level where it is on a

:14:42. > :14:45.par with the rest of the students nationally, so the sky 's the limit.

:14:46. > :14:50.Raising standards in the classroom is all very well but it is not much

:14:51. > :14:51.good if people do not turn up in the first place and truancy is a

:14:52. > :14:56.particular problem in the north`east. The head teacher he said

:14:57. > :15:02.he will not tolerate it. Yeah taking action. This is an area in Newcastle

:15:03. > :15:06.which is using attendance officers in vehicles like this one to crack

:15:07. > :15:13.down on absenteeism. All part of a wider message that education is

:15:14. > :15:16.crucial to a pupil's prospects. There are high`level skills that we

:15:17. > :15:21.need and in fact in our region there are lots of vacancies, there may be

:15:22. > :15:25.unemployment in some areas but in the high skill areas there are

:15:26. > :15:29.vacancies and children need a very high level of qualification and

:15:30. > :15:32.education to meet those vacancies and Bill are beginning to understand

:15:33. > :15:39.that now. As schools, we need to lead on that and explain that to the

:15:40. > :15:44.communities. The hope is for schools which are not just on song but also

:15:45. > :15:52.in tune with the demands of the economy. With hard work like this,

:15:53. > :15:55.it might just be possible. And on Look North tomorrow we'll ask

:15:56. > :15:59.why fewer people from the North go to university than other parts of

:16:00. > :16:02.the country. And BBC Newcastle will be taking your calls on the future

:16:03. > :16:08.of education ` that's from nine in the morning. As a two`year`old,

:16:09. > :16:11.Chris Pickbourne from Sunderland became the poster child of the UK's

:16:12. > :16:18.biggest car plant. Nissan in Wearside. His photograph

:16:19. > :16:23.was used to prompt a recruitment drive in 1988. Now Chris works there

:16:24. > :16:30.himself. From toddler to technician. The

:16:31. > :16:36.girls in the office, my mum was asked to bring her child in and took

:16:37. > :16:43.them to the canteen where they had a big white role of background. Got

:16:44. > :16:47.told to stand on a spot and I did, I was the only one that would stand

:16:48. > :16:50.still. In 1988, Chris was the baby face of Nissan's recruitment drive `

:16:51. > :16:53.a company itself just two years old and looking to expand. Now the

:16:54. > :16:58.wheel's come full circle because last year Chris found a job here

:16:59. > :17:06.himself ` after leaving the Navy. Nissan was the first choice. I live

:17:07. > :17:14.two mile down the road, and it is nice and local. Good reputation.

:17:15. > :17:17.That is it. 25 years ago, when Chris was still at nursery, Nissan

:17:18. > :17:20.employed just 1200. Back then, it was the Bluebird rolling off the

:17:21. > :17:27.production line. The factory's a lot bigger now. Back in 1988 when Chris

:17:28. > :17:34.appeared in his photograph, Nissan was producing about 25,000 cars per

:17:35. > :17:38.year. Now it is 500 isn't. We have come from something extremely small

:17:39. > :17:46.back in those days to the biggest car manufacturer in the UK. `` now

:17:47. > :17:55.it is 500,000. We have over 6500 employees here. We are producing for

:17:56. > :17:58.models with the new model at in December.

:17:59. > :18:08.And that means Nissan is looking to take on even more staff. `` we are

:18:09. > :18:11.producing the new model ahead of December.

:18:12. > :18:15.By 2016, Nissan expects to take the workforce to almost 7,000 when work

:18:16. > :18:23.starts on its new baby ` a luxury vehicle called Infiniti. But

:18:24. > :18:27.Chris's job as Nissan's poster boy is over. From now on he will be

:18:28. > :18:35.concentrating on helping to make the cars.

:18:36. > :18:38.Time for this week's Sportskids now ` and tonight we meet a youngster

:18:39. > :18:41.from Darlington who has her sights set on an Olympic medal. And, as

:18:42. > :18:50.Stephanie Cleasby found out, discipline and concentration is what

:18:51. > :19:02.her sport is all about. My name is Emily and I am 12 and my

:19:03. > :19:06.sport is shooting. Emily's sport requires a keen eye

:19:07. > :19:14.and steady hand. You need to not get tense because it results in a bad

:19:15. > :19:19.shot. I just like it. I don't like dancing, it is just what I like. I

:19:20. > :19:24.am not a typical girl, it is what I like. Emily was introduced to ten

:19:25. > :19:30.metre air pistol by her dad a couple of years ago and she quickly became

:19:31. > :19:35.a sharpshooter. We wanted a bit of father and daughter time and I was

:19:36. > :19:39.surprised how quick she took to it. We were quite competitive at one

:19:40. > :19:43.point but now she just beats me all of the time. It always feels good

:19:44. > :19:51.when you beat your dad. He does not really like it. He gets angry but it

:19:52. > :19:55.is good for me because I beat him and I am beating him at the time

:19:56. > :19:58.now. Emily is a rising star in competitive shooting. She won her

:19:59. > :20:09.class in the Welsh air gunner open earlier this month. `` airgun open.

:20:10. > :20:13.It is good when you win competitions. It does not matter if

:20:14. > :20:16.you get a trophy. In a few years, it will matter. For now it is just

:20:17. > :20:26.about trying my best and getting used to it.

:20:27. > :20:34.I would like to go to the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. You need

:20:35. > :20:41.to set yourself big goals. Does she have what it takes? Yes. She is one

:20:42. > :20:46.of the best I have ever trained. She is dedicated. She is in the best

:20:47. > :20:51.place because she is shooting with the junior squad, so she has got the

:20:52. > :20:55.benefit of additional coaching and it will put in the right direction.

:20:56. > :21:05.What do your friends think of you shooting? Tell me I frightened them.

:21:06. > :21:15.But they are mostly happy. `` they tell me I frightened them. Time for

:21:16. > :21:27.me to take aim at the target. That is good. You got one shot in the

:21:28. > :21:35.black. She is obviously a crack shot. Now, more sports news.

:21:36. > :21:38.Football. Plenty of football league action

:21:39. > :21:42.last night but only one victory for our teams ` a vital one, too, for

:21:43. > :21:46.Carlisle, who beat strugglers Crewe in League One in front of fewer than

:21:47. > :21:48.3,000 fans at Brunton Park. Mark Tulip reports.

:21:49. > :21:52.These were the early arrivals last night but the eventual crowd was one

:21:53. > :21:55.of the lowest for a league game at Brunton Park in recent years. The

:21:56. > :21:58.manager was focused solely on three points although only a clash of

:21:59. > :22:00.heads and the referee's Little speared his team going behind. At

:22:01. > :22:03.least Carlisle won. David Symington's shot glanced off Sean

:22:04. > :22:08.O'Hanlon to give them the lead just before the break. Moments later,

:22:09. > :22:11.Matty Robson doubled the advantage. They just had to give the fans a few

:22:12. > :22:15.anxious moments near the end. Crewe's goal was a late consolation,

:22:16. > :22:20.but if Ben Amos hadn't been alert there could have been an even later

:22:21. > :22:26.equaliser. But it was job done. We had the lion's share of possession.

:22:27. > :22:30.We had a hell of a lot more opportunities to I am really

:22:31. > :22:34.pleased. As I say, onwards and upwards. It is unbeaten in five.

:22:35. > :22:37.Kavanagh's hoping to strengthen his squad in the next few days.

:22:38. > :22:42.Extending defender Max Ehmer's loan would be a good start.

:22:43. > :22:45.In League Two Hartlepool's play`off push was dealt a blow by strugglers

:22:46. > :22:49.Bury and this goal from former Pools loanee Danny Nardiello. Colin Cooper

:22:50. > :22:53.called it a scruffy game. His side had won six of their previous eight

:22:54. > :22:56.league matches but a chance to close in on the top seven was missed.

:22:57. > :23:00.York City are still only three points above the relegation zone but

:23:01. > :23:03.Nigel Worthington's side did keep a clean sheet at Morecambe, playing

:23:04. > :23:07.out a goalless draw. There was some frantic defending at both ends in a

:23:08. > :23:12.game the York boss thought his side could have won. Mark Tulip, BBC Look

:23:13. > :23:15.North. Now, when it comes to successful

:23:16. > :23:18.sports teams in our region, you won't find many with a record to

:23:19. > :23:21.match this lot. The women's volleyball side at Northumbria

:23:22. > :23:25.University hasn't lost a game for more than a year. And as Simon Pryde

:23:26. > :23:29.found out, the men's team isn't bad either!

:23:30. > :23:34.Newcastle United have won three on the trot. Durham's cricketers put

:23:35. > :23:37.together a club record run of five consecutive Championship victories

:23:38. > :23:40.this year. But to win 66 matches in a row at the highest level of your

:23:41. > :23:44.sport puts those achievements into perspective. Team Northumbria's

:23:45. > :23:50.women are top of the Super eight League ` and last season they won

:23:51. > :23:53.everything in sight. They could have rested on their laurels but instead

:23:54. > :23:56.they reached for the next level and signed Team GB skipper Lynne

:23:57. > :24:04.Beattie, who opted for the North East instead of professional

:24:05. > :24:07.volleyball overseas. I played abroad for five years. I have sampled lots

:24:08. > :24:10.of different cultures and teams and I think I have heard so much about

:24:11. > :24:13.team Northumbria and it really is the best place to play volleyball in

:24:14. > :24:16.this country. Training and playing matches at Sport Central in

:24:17. > :24:19.Newcastle under Olympic coach Dave Goodchild, Team Northumbria boast a

:24:20. > :24:28.table`topping men's team too. They also recruited in the summer. I have

:24:29. > :24:32.played internationally, at the world University games last summer, I

:24:33. > :24:36.played for years in college and 13 national championships. Now I am

:24:37. > :24:39.continuing to try and further that oversees here as well. There are

:24:40. > :24:42.also players from Hungary, Poland and Canada, but the majority are

:24:43. > :24:49.British, with home standards rising in the wake of London 2012. After

:24:50. > :24:52.the Olympics we wanted to create a legacy for our sport and raise the

:24:53. > :24:57.profile and we definitely manage to do that. With Team Northumbria we

:24:58. > :25:02.have a high level of volleyball here. It compares to some of the

:25:03. > :25:05.teams I have played abroad. There is a gap there but we are working hard

:25:06. > :25:08.in this country to close that gap. Next up for the all`conquering

:25:09. > :25:12.women, a Cup derby with Team Durham on Sunday. And it would be a major

:25:13. > :25:19.surprise if they didn't smash their way to win 67. Simon Pryde, BBC Look

:25:20. > :25:24.North, Newcastle. That is tempting fate. 66 in a row.

:25:25. > :25:29.Let see what happens. That is tempting fate. 66 in a row.

:25:30. > :25:33.The weather is behaving itself at the minute. We had respectable

:25:34. > :25:35.temperatures this afternoon. Northumbria especially so the best

:25:36. > :25:42.of the sunshine and a highest temperature, 13 Celsius, I think as

:25:43. > :25:45.we head through the next 24 hours it will stay reasonably quiet.

:25:46. > :25:49.Overnight tonight a fair amount of cloud around in the West, but there

:25:50. > :25:51.will be breaks in the cloud as well especially further east and that

:25:52. > :25:56.will allow one or two things to happen. It will allow the mist of

:25:57. > :26:00.taxis to develop in the valley bottoms and the temperatures could

:26:01. > :26:11.be a shade cooler as well. `` the mist of organ to develop. `` missed

:26:12. > :26:15.or their. Tomorrow morning it is a misty start and there is some

:26:16. > :26:18.drizzle. The cloud will tend to lift and break, there will be some

:26:19. > :26:23.brighter spells developing as weekend through the day. There would

:26:24. > :26:26.be as much sunshine as the day but northern parts of Northumberland

:26:27. > :26:32.might do as well as anywhere else and temperatures will be a shade

:26:33. > :26:34.down on today. The winds are light from a south`westerly direction but

:26:35. > :26:37.after a two`day's temperatures we are back into single figures.

:26:38. > :26:42.Peaking at nine Celsius in Whitehaven. Tomorrow night, we have

:26:43. > :26:46.got a frontal system working its way down from the North West. That will

:26:47. > :26:50.bring some cloud and gusty wind and rain but it clears away again by the

:26:51. > :26:54.time we get to Friday and then it is a cold wind as we head towards the

:26:55. > :26:58.weekend. A fair and adult I weather to be had. If you are out and about

:26:59. > :27:04.over the next few days, after we get tomorrow out of the way, a lot of

:27:05. > :27:08.cloud in Cumbria on Friday. `` a fair amount of whether to be had.

:27:09. > :27:13.Generally single figure temperatures through the weekend. Golden of

:27:14. > :27:18.overnight for just a touch of frost here and there. For the north`east,

:27:19. > :27:22.those gusty north westerly winds will make their presence felt on

:27:23. > :27:26.Friday and Saturday, so the temperatures, it will feel cooler

:27:27. > :27:29.than those numbers suggest and as I say, clear spells overnight and

:27:30. > :27:33.shelter from the wind could lead to a touch of frost in places. That is

:27:34. > :27:34.how it is looking for the next few days.

:27:35. > :27:39.how it is Thank you very much. That is it from

:27:40. > :27:45.us tonight. Good night.
