:00:20. > :00:23.the Boxing Day sales. Hundreds stood in subzero temperatures at retail

:00:24. > :00:27.parks and shopping centres. Many stores opened at 7am, as Amy Lea

:00:28. > :00:31.reports. You might be forgiven for thinking

:00:32. > :00:34.that this was the last minute rush of shoppers on Christmas Eve. But

:00:35. > :00:39.this car park is almost full, and its not even 7am. Welcome to the

:00:40. > :00:51.Silverlink Retail Park on North Tyneside, and the Boxing Day sales.

:00:52. > :00:54.It is mad, but everyone makes an effort to do it. When you get here

:00:55. > :01:09.and realise you are not the first, it is not too bad. What time did you

:01:10. > :01:17.get into the shop? 6:20am. Is it your money she is spending? It

:01:18. > :01:21.certainly is. For some, this is as much of a tradition as Turkey,

:01:22. > :01:25.heading to the shops for a bargain. WHITE Some online retail sites were

:01:26. > :01:29.visited 117 million times yesterday. But that doesn't seem to have put

:01:30. > :01:34.these people off hitting the shops to try and grab a bargin.

:01:35. > :01:38.A woman's been raped in the toilets of a Newcastle bar. Officers were

:01:39. > :01:42.called to Easy Street in the early hours of this morning. The offender

:01:57. > :02:00.The Boxing Day hunt has been taking place in Bedale in North Yorkshire.

:02:01. > :02:04.Around 100 riders set off from the town, which has been part of the

:02:05. > :02:08.hunt for almost 200 years. It's been ten years since the ban on hunting

:02:09. > :02:12.with hounds was passed. Thousands of people across the

:02:13. > :02:15.region have been taking part in the annual Boxing Day dips. People have

:02:16. > :02:18.been taking the plunge at Whitley Bay, Redcar, South Shields and at

:02:19. > :02:22.Seaton Carew. What's thought to be the first Boxing Day dip in

:02:23. > :02:26.Windermere has also been taking place. But by far the biggest event

:02:27. > :02:35.in the country is at Seaburn in Sunderland, from where Stuart

:02:36. > :02:43.Whincup reports. Brave or foolish? At this point,

:02:44. > :02:53.there was no turning back. But was it as bad, was it as cold as we

:02:54. > :03:02.imagine? Freezing. Freezing cold. I cannot feel my late 's. Are you

:03:03. > :03:06.regretting the decision? It is really hot, lovely and warm. You

:03:07. > :03:14.want to get in. It is great. Tropical. Exhilarating. I am doing

:03:15. > :03:22.it in memory of my sister`in`law, who died last year. Seeing everybody

:03:23. > :03:29.here is fabulous. Trillion. For all the impressive costume, one man

:03:30. > :03:40.deserved special berets. `` special praise. What was that like?

:03:41. > :03:46.Freezing, absolutely cold. The sea have been raising thousands of

:03:47. > :03:49.pounds for local charities. `` the majority.

:03:50. > :03:52.Onto today's football now, and great Christmas results for our top two

:03:53. > :03:55.teams. Newcastle were easy 5`1 winners against Stoke at St James'

:03:56. > :03:58.after the visitors went down to nine men. Everton's goalie was also shown

:03:59. > :04:01.the red card, which helped Sunderland beat the Merseysiders

:04:39. > :04:43.over high ground. The lowest temperatures in the next couple of

:04:44. > :04:47.hours. There is an amber warning in place tomorrow. We are expecting

:04:48. > :04:53.severe gales across all parts of our area. That strong wind driving in

:05:01. > :05:12.good evening. Hello there, most of us have had a

:05:13. > :05:16.quiet Boxing Day, mostly dry, chilly, lingering mist, light winds.

:05:17. > :05:17.That is all about to change. The next storm
