:00:00. > :00:10.industry. We are back

:00:11. > :00:15.Good evening. It's emerged that staff on a passenger ferry forced to

:00:16. > :00:19.turn back to port after a fire broke out had already had to deal with

:00:20. > :00:22.another security alert ` a drunken brawl. The King Seaways was sailing

:00:23. > :00:26.from the Tyne to Amsterdam when the fire started in a cabin. More than

:00:27. > :00:29.1,000 people were aboard the ship. Six passengers were airlifted to

:00:30. > :00:31.Scarborough Hospital by RAF helicopters after breathing in

:00:32. > :00:37.smoke. Our Chief Reporter Chris Stewart has the story. What happened

:00:38. > :00:41.is still unclear but we've been told there had already been trouble on

:00:42. > :00:46.board ` with a fight involving a number of men who had clearly been

:00:47. > :00:56.drinking. Today that was confirmed as correct. We had a report about a

:00:57. > :01:05.fight on board. The crew also stopped it. It took some time. It's

:01:06. > :01:10.unpleasant when that happens. But we have guards on board who are trained

:01:11. > :01:14.to handle such situations. The ship is being made ready to sail tonight.

:01:15. > :01:20.People have been arriving in dribs and drabs. The options are to take a

:01:21. > :01:25.coach to Hull, and take another ferry, or cancel and get your money

:01:26. > :01:33.back. Among those sailing tonight is a singer, contracted to work

:01:34. > :01:45.onboard. I'm a little apprehensive. But they dealt with it fine. It

:01:46. > :01:59.shouldn't be a problem. I set out from Essex at 5am! The police

:02:00. > :02:05.investigation continues. A 26`year`old man was charged with

:02:06. > :02:08.arson and affray. A North Yorkshire company says it's

:02:09. > :02:11.working with police to try to find out how two ice cream cones made

:02:12. > :02:14.there became contaminated with pain relief tablets. The discovery was

:02:15. > :02:18.made in Tesco own brand chocolate and nut cones made by R R Foods of

:02:19. > :02:22.Leeming Bar. The Food Standards Agency is advising people not to eat

:02:23. > :02:26.the cones with best before dates up to and including July 2014. The firm

:02:27. > :02:32.says it's now resumed production after introducing CCTV and new

:02:33. > :02:35.measures to prevent contamination. A fire at a wood re`cycling company

:02:36. > :02:39.on Teesside could take up to another week to burn itself out. Thousands

:02:40. > :02:41.of tonnes of wood self`combusted last Monday at the Wilton site,

:02:42. > :02:47.causing smoke to blow across residential areas. Our Business

:02:48. > :02:50.Correspondent, Ian Reeve, reports. 16,000 tonnes of recycled wood has

:02:51. > :02:56.been ablaze at Teesside's Wilton site for a week now. The smoke is a

:02:57. > :03:01.constant presence, and often blowing over Grangetown and Redcar. We can

:03:02. > :03:08.only apologise. It's a real inconvenience for everybody. It's a

:03:09. > :03:10.case of working with the fire brigade and getting it under

:03:11. > :03:15.control. However, the fire is reducing. It's down by about 40%

:03:16. > :03:19.from its Friday night height. The tactic is to let itself burn out,

:03:20. > :03:26.possibly taking another week. We've had to take a defensive position,

:03:27. > :03:32.and allow it to burn out. We want to reduce the smoke being produced. If

:03:33. > :03:37.we pour water on it it will produce even more. In the interim, residents

:03:38. > :03:44.are being asked to do the sensible thing. The wood was destined for a

:03:45. > :03:51.power station at Wilton. But it's gone up in smoke rather sooner than

:03:52. > :03:55.it should have done. Now, he's just five years old ` and

:03:56. > :03:57.already marked out as a future World Champion. Beau Thirsk from County

:03:58. > :04:02.Durham practises snooker several times a week ` and he's about to

:04:03. > :04:06.team` up with one of the game's greats. Our reporter Amy Lea has

:04:07. > :04:11.been to meet him. Birtley Snooker Club ` and an afternoon with the

:04:12. > :04:14.cue. The perfect place for adult snooker enthusiasts to relax and

:04:15. > :04:18.enjoy a game or two. But perhaps not the place you'd expect to see a

:04:19. > :04:25.five`year`old... And a potential future World Champion at that! He

:04:26. > :04:29.makes us very proud. Even when he's just potting balls... I've seen it

:04:30. > :04:34.100 times but I'm very proud about what he can do at his age. Beau from

:04:35. > :04:37.Belmont in County Durham has been playing since he was two years old `

:04:38. > :04:44.and already he knows whose footsteps he'd like to follow in when he gets

:04:45. > :04:52.older. Stephen Maguire. Steve Davis. Mark Williams. I'm going to play

:04:53. > :04:57.with Steve Davis... Then Jimmy White. And that's what all this

:04:58. > :05:01.practice is for. In the new year, Beau will be teaming up with the six

:05:02. > :05:04.times World Champion Steve Davis for a very special snooker challenge at

:05:05. > :05:10.Spennymoor Leisure Centre in front of a live audience. For now though

:05:11. > :05:24.it's all just a bit of fun ` but who knows where it could all lead in a

:05:25. > :05:26.few years! A name to remember! Football, and Sunderland have

:05:27. > :05:29.confirmed they're signing Fiorentina and ex`Bolton left`back Marcos

:05:30. > :05:32.Alonso on loan until the end of the season. Meanwhile three of our

:05:33. > :05:35.leading clubs picked up victories over the weekend ` although there

:05:36. > :05:38.was no joy for Newcastle United, despite pushing Premier League

:05:39. > :05:42.leaders Arsenal all the way. It was a tight game at St James's with

:05:43. > :05:45.Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Debuchy going close for the Magpies. The

:05:46. > :05:49.only goal came from Theo Walcott's clever free`kick, headed in by

:05:50. > :05:52.Olivier Giroud. Arsenal were hanging on near the end, with another France

:05:53. > :05:56.international ` Loic Remy ` going close... Painfully! The Sunderland

:05:57. > :05:59.striker Fabio Borini, who was taken to hospital at half`time during the

:06:00. > :06:02.2`2 draw at Cardiff is recovering well from a viral infection. The

:06:03. > :06:05.Black Cats are taking positives from the two late goals, which salvaged

:06:06. > :06:09.an unlikely point ahead of Wednesday's home game against Aston

:06:10. > :06:13.Villa. But what about new loan signing Marcos Alonso? He became

:06:14. > :06:19.available. He was happy to come here and help us. We're looking forward

:06:20. > :06:21.to him playing for us. Middlesbrough's head coach Aitor

:06:22. > :06:25.Karanka isn't getting too carried away by Boro's third win in a row.

:06:26. > :06:28.But goals from Albert Adoma and Grant Leadbitter, who scored in each

:06:29. > :06:32.half, have inched the Teessiders to within six points of the play`off

:06:33. > :06:36.places. A crowd 4,000 down on Boxing Day at Brunton Park saw Carlisle

:06:37. > :06:40.come from behind to beat ten`man Peterborough in League One. Two

:06:41. > :06:45.quickfire goals from David Amoo sealed an encouraging 2`1 win. And

:06:46. > :06:48.that was the same scoreline for Hartlepool, who took the lead at

:06:49. > :06:51.play`off hopefuls Morecambe through Jack Baldwin... Only to be pegged

:06:52. > :06:54.back near the end. But then they found an even later winner from

:06:55. > :06:58.Jonathan Franks. York, though, suffered a damaging 2`1 defeat at

:06:59. > :07:01.relegation rivals Bury. Two goals down at half`time, substitute

:07:02. > :07:04.Michael Coulson's effort was a mere consolation. The Minstermen are now

:07:05. > :07:11.only outside the bottom two on goal difference.

:07:12. > :07:29.Time now for the weather. It's been very stormy. That will continue. Bit

:07:30. > :07:37.of respite tonight, though. The clouds will thicken up. Overnight

:07:38. > :07:51.temperatures of four Celsius. Winds picking up. The showers will become

:07:52. > :08:01.widespread. Heavy bursts but most places bright enough. Temperatures

:08:02. > :08:12.stay in single figures. Peaking at nine Celsius. Blustery winds. If

:08:13. > :08:22.you're out tomorrow, the breeze will make it feel cold. New Year's Day

:08:23. > :08:39.sees more wet and windy weather. That's all for now. Goodbye.

:08:40. > :08:45.Another day off strong winds, heavy rain and flooding. At least things

:08:46. > :08:50.are quiet at the moment. The rain has cleared off and the wind is

:08:51. > :08:56.lighter. There might be some ice in Scotland, but through the night the

:08:57. > :09:01.wind picks up, lifting temperatures, but more heavy rain pushing in. The

:09:02. > :09:07.rain band is not quite a significant us today, but it will leave surface

:09:08. > :09:08.water flooding. Some heavy bursts clearing Northern Ireland by first
