:00:13. > :00:18.Good evening. A nine`year`old girl from County Durham is recovering

:00:19. > :00:21.from extensive facial injuries after a bottle was thrown through the

:00:22. > :00:27.window of a car she was travelling in. She had emergency plastic

:00:28. > :00:35.surgery. It is the start of the school half term holidays. But for

:00:36. > :00:39.Abby, a quiet week. She is recovering from serious facial

:00:40. > :00:44.injuries in what police described as a random act. The incident happened

:00:45. > :00:47.on Friday night when a bottle was thrown through the window of a

:00:48. > :00:53.vehicle being driven by her grandmother. Police believe that the

:00:54. > :00:58.bottle was thrown from the darkness of this subway at around 10:30pm.

:00:59. > :01:01.They say it was thrown with significant force, striking the

:01:02. > :01:10.passenger window, shattering the glass into Abby's face. The

:01:11. > :01:14.investigating officers said that Abby was close to losing her sight

:01:15. > :01:21.and had to undergo emergency plastic surgery. Whether this was on purpose

:01:22. > :01:25.or a mindless act, people must think about the consequences of what they

:01:26. > :01:30.do. Throwing anything at a carriageway can have serious

:01:31. > :01:33.consequences. The lease have appealed for witnesses to contact

:01:34. > :01:41.them and say that whilst the scars are beginning to heal, the

:01:42. > :01:46.psychological impact will take time. Armed police have arrested a number

:01:47. > :01:51.of men on a busy Darlington Road this evening. According to reports

:01:52. > :01:55.officers in several vehicles was a van to stop and detained the

:01:56. > :02:01.occupants at gunpoint. The force of made no comments over.

:02:02. > :02:05.Pumping equipment has been sent to parts of southern England to my

:02:06. > :02:09.flooding from the Darlington Fire service. A swift water rescue team

:02:10. > :02:14.will also be based in the Thames Valley.

:02:15. > :02:17.100 skiers helped shovel away 20 feet of snow as avalanche warnings

:02:18. > :02:23.were issued on the Cumbrian fells today. Snowdrifts covered the raised

:02:24. > :02:31.amount near Patterdale with huts and the mountainside ski tower covered.

:02:32. > :02:35.Sunderland have been drawn away to brighten `` Brighton and Hove Albion

:02:36. > :02:41.or Hull city in the FA Cup quarterfinals, to be played on the

:02:42. > :02:45.2nd of March. And in the Winter Olympics, John Bays of Middlesbrough

:02:46. > :02:53.was thrown into the spotlight as a stand in break man. He and his

:02:54. > :03:01.team`mate Aaron 23rd place after two heats. Another one tomorrow.

:03:02. > :03:04.And on inside out tomorrow, an extraordinary journey from

:03:05. > :03:10.homelessness to opera star. Bridget Foley of Tyneside is a rising star

:03:11. > :03:13.with the charity, streetwise Opera. It rings together people in

:03:14. > :03:19.difficult circumstances to sing through their problems. It is about

:03:20. > :03:27.what you get out of it. Music can change a lot peoples lives in

:03:28. > :03:31.totally different ways. Whether you sing professionally or to a certain

:03:32. > :03:41.standard, who cares? As long as you get something out of it.

:03:42. > :03:48.And now the weather. After a lovely day things are set to turn a wet

:03:49. > :03:52.again. But the rain will mostly be light and patchy. This evening, we

:03:53. > :03:58.will see a frost in parts of the north`east. Skies will be clearest.

:03:59. > :04:02.In parts of Cumbria, the cloud will begin at head of rain edging in from

:04:03. > :04:05.the west. Overnight temperatures dropping to three Celsius in towns

:04:06. > :04:13.and cities. Moderate wind from the West. Tomorrow morning, fairly damp,

:04:14. > :04:17.light and patchy rain, the odd heavy burst. Staying wet until the

:04:18. > :04:26.afternoon. Temperatures up to nine Celsius. As we go into Tuesday, as

:04:27. > :04:31.high pressure will keep things dry. A weather front will bring showers

:04:32. > :04:34.into Wednesday. Then the next area of low pressure through Wednesday

:04:35. > :04:39.night into Thursday. That will turn things wet and windy. Not quite on

:04:40. > :04:43.the same scale as the last few weeks. The outlook for the

:04:44. > :04:48.north`east. Dry through Tuesday and Wednesday. We will see showers. Then

:04:49. > :04:54.the main area of rain moving through. A similar picture across

:04:55. > :04:56.Cumbria. Rain at times, temperatures about nine Celsius. That is all for

:04:57. > :05:10.tonight. Goodbye. Good evening. In the midst of any

:05:11. > :05:11.normal winter weather
