:00:00. > :00:08.be some rain around on Sunday. Thank That is all from

:00:09. > :00:13.Hello and welcome to Wednesday's Look North. Tonight: The Casualty

:00:14. > :00:16.actor Clive Mantle tells a court how his ear was bitten off in a

:00:17. > :00:24.Newcastle hotel. We quit! The entire governing body

:00:25. > :00:30.of a big secondary school resigns. Further management to be so

:00:31. > :00:34.dysfunctional or whatever has concerned, we don't know why this

:00:35. > :00:38.has happened, and we are very worried, as are many other parents.

:00:39. > :00:42.Stranded ` the community cut off after floods damage this bridge. And

:00:43. > :00:46.there's no prospect of repairs. And how Middlesbrough footballer Kei

:00:47. > :00:49.Kamara is doing his bit to help those experiencing the horrors of

:00:50. > :00:52.life in his homeland. In sport, a big night for Carlisle

:00:53. > :00:58.as they ease their relegation fears after not quite being sent to

:00:59. > :01:02.Coventry. And rugby's Mr Patient ` a home debut at last for Gonzalo `

:01:03. > :01:12.three months after signing for the Falcons.

:01:13. > :01:18.First tonight, the television actor Clive Mantle has been telling a jury

:01:19. > :01:23.how a large part of his ear was bitten off during an attack in a

:01:24. > :01:26.Newcastle hotel. Two men from Hamilton in Scotland have denied a

:01:27. > :01:30.charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent at the city's Crown

:01:31. > :01:34.Court. Mr Mantle, who starred in the BBC hospital drama Casualty told the

:01:35. > :01:44.court the attack was like two hyenas bringing down an old water buffalo.

:01:45. > :01:51.Jonathan Swingler has this report. The trial has heard how Clive Mantle

:01:52. > :02:01.was staying at the Hotel the 24th of March last year. The 56`year`old

:02:02. > :02:08.actor, best known in the medical drama Casualty, had been appearing

:02:09. > :02:13.at the theatre. At 4:30am in the morning, he heard shouting outside.

:02:14. > :02:20.What happened next was the series of events that ended up with his ear

:02:21. > :02:25.being cut off. He had asked the two men to be quiet. The actor denied

:02:26. > :02:33.losing his temper and that he said Will you shut up, please. The jury

:02:34. > :02:38.heard that Clive Mantle felt he was treated as a figure of fun. He said

:02:39. > :02:48.he was going to get security and he described being attacked and being

:02:49. > :02:56.attacked and being punched up to 16 times by the two men. They were very

:02:57. > :03:05.drunk, he said. The actor said it was like two hyenas bringing down a

:03:06. > :03:14.water often. Both men deny wounding with intent. The trial continues.

:03:15. > :03:18.Parents in a North Yorkshire town are demanding answers after it

:03:19. > :03:23.emerged that the entire governing body of one of the county's largest

:03:24. > :03:26.secondary schools has resigned. They say the decision of governors at

:03:27. > :03:29.Richmond School and Sixth Form to quit en masse has led to speculation

:03:30. > :03:33.and concern about what might lie behind the move. So far, none of the

:03:34. > :03:36.governors have explained why they stepped down but the council insist

:03:37. > :03:40.the education of pupils won't be affected. Our reporter Luke Walton

:03:41. > :03:43.has been speaking to people in Richmond and joins us from our

:03:44. > :03:47.Middlesbrough newsroom now. Luke, just how unusual is this kind of

:03:48. > :03:57.mass resignation and what do we know about it? It is highly unusual and

:03:58. > :04:00.even more unusual is that the governors themselves have issued no

:04:01. > :04:05.statement as to why they have decided to step down. We know that

:04:06. > :04:08.the governors make their decision to resign en masse after a meeting with

:04:09. > :04:13.council officers on Thursday. The council issued a statement, the

:04:14. > :04:20.governors have not been contactable. The council have issued

:04:21. > :04:26.a statement, though, and it said the reasons behind the resignation were

:04:27. > :04:30.confidential that no safeguarding issues were involved, in other

:04:31. > :04:37.words, there is no risk to pupils. But that message hasn't entirely

:04:38. > :04:42.reassured parents. We are very concerned for our daughter's

:04:43. > :04:45.education. For the management of the school to be so dysfunctional or

:04:46. > :04:48.whatever has occurred, we don't know what it is, we don't know why this

:04:49. > :04:52.has happened, and we are very worried, as are many other parents,

:04:53. > :04:58.and we have seen this on social media recently where parents are

:04:59. > :05:03.speculating as to what has gone on. What is particularly strange about

:05:04. > :05:11.this is that it is, on the face of it, a very successful school. That

:05:12. > :05:14.is white. It was judged a good school and gets above average exam

:05:15. > :05:20.results but there have been some grumbles. I am told there has been

:05:21. > :05:26.recent months, a reduction in the lunch break to half an hour. We

:05:27. > :05:29.don't know if that controversy was in any way linked to the

:05:30. > :05:35.resignation. What I am told is that there was a difference of it ``

:05:36. > :05:40.opinion about the direction of the school between the governing body

:05:41. > :05:44.headteacher and the governors felt that the council had come down in

:05:45. > :05:52.favour of the head, hence the decision they had no other choice

:05:53. > :05:55.but to resign. The local councillor representing Richmond says Disney's

:05:56. > :06:02.be cleared up. It is everywhere for an entirely governing body to leave.

:06:03. > :06:06.I need to understand why they have gone, from their point of view, from

:06:07. > :06:11.the school's pointedly, what brought us to this situation, so we can

:06:12. > :06:15.mention nothing like this happens again and we can guarantee that the

:06:16. > :06:22.school flourishes. Where do we go from here? Next week, I understand

:06:23. > :06:25.the school and the council will be writing to parents, saying the

:06:26. > :06:29.day`to`day education of the children and the standard of education will

:06:30. > :06:33.not be affected by any of this. They also say they will be appointing an

:06:34. > :06:37.interim executive board to take over the governorship of the school, to

:06:38. > :06:41.pave the way for the appointment of a new governing body. It'll be

:06:42. > :06:46.interesting to see how many parents volunteered to be governors until a

:06:47. > :06:50.line is put under this issue and at this moment, that seems some

:06:51. > :06:53.distance away. Structural engineers have continued

:06:54. > :06:56.to monitor homes in Ripon after a sinkhole opened up in the North

:06:57. > :06:59.Yorkshire city. Three homes had to be evacuated after a 25ft`wide

:07:00. > :07:03.sinkhole opened in Magdalens Close on Monday evening. No`one was hurt

:07:04. > :07:06.and firefighters rescued a dog from a damaged 100`year`old detached

:07:07. > :07:10.house that has developed a huge crack.

:07:11. > :07:14.Meanwhile, a flood`damaged bridge in Loftus in East Cleveland has left a

:07:15. > :07:19.small community cut off from the rest of their town. Residents on

:07:20. > :07:23.Gaskell Lane relied on the bridge to get in and out of their street, but

:07:24. > :07:26.violent flooding last year has meant it's no longer safe to use, and

:07:27. > :07:32.there's no prospect of it being repaired. Our business correspondent

:07:33. > :07:35.Ian Reeve reports. The consequence of hundreds of

:07:36. > :07:38.thousands of gallons of water rushing down this beck in East

:07:39. > :07:43.Cleveland. Pent up beneath the bridge by fallen trees, but then

:07:44. > :07:55.bursting violently free. And in its path Kath and Alan's home. Hit by a

:07:56. > :07:58.5ft`high wall of water. I was fighting to close the door.

:07:59. > :08:04.Absolutely unbelievable, the force of it. A carb parked in front was

:08:05. > :08:10.just whisked away, the power of it was unbelievable, it was higher than

:08:11. > :08:14.the date. Nobody who had been in it could have survived. Five months on

:08:15. > :08:17.and the loss adjusters are still here, assessing, examining. And the

:08:18. > :08:20.small cluster of houses here below the town of Loftus remains cut off.

:08:21. > :08:24.There's no road access, the only way out of this hidden woody dale by a

:08:25. > :08:28.long uphill hike. And the bridge, it's been discovered, belongs to one

:08:29. > :08:31.of the residents here. They can't afford to reinstate it, but then

:08:32. > :08:36.neither can Redcar and Cleveland council. For Kathryn and her

:08:37. > :08:45.neighbours, escape looks a long way off. Because the council had

:08:46. > :08:49.resurfaced it and prepared it in the past, we assumed it was their

:08:50. > :08:54.responsibility. They are now saying that one was that it owns that

:08:55. > :08:58.bridge, which were totally unaware of the time, and so they are backing

:08:59. > :09:00.off and saying it is not their responsibility. So shopping must be

:09:01. > :09:04.done with a wheelbarrow. Oil supplies for central heating have

:09:05. > :09:07.long run out. The Fire Service has made it down here though, to install

:09:08. > :09:10.extra smoke alarms. A move, residents say, that shows how much

:09:11. > :09:12.the brigade wants to avoid any incident here and not be able to

:09:13. > :09:22.reach it. Unemployment has fallen in the North

:09:23. > :09:27.East, according to the latest figures published today. The number

:09:28. > :09:32.of jobless people is down by 3,000 to 130,000. That's an unemployment

:09:33. > :09:36.rate of 10%, which remains the highest in the country. The number

:09:37. > :09:39.of people claiming job seekers allowance in Cumbria rose between

:09:40. > :09:44.December and January. There are now 6,642 claimants ` that's a rise of

:09:45. > :09:48.279. The County Council says it reflects the end of seasonal

:09:49. > :09:52.Christmas jobs. But 250 new jobs are being created at a Hartlepool

:09:53. > :09:56.shipyard. Engineers are being taken on by Heerema Fabrication Group to

:09:57. > :09:59.work on the Cygnus North Sea project, providing gas to one and a

:10:00. > :10:16.half million homes. Richard Moss joins us live from the yard now.

:10:17. > :10:23.They make some pretty big gear here. Sections of platforms for the oil

:10:24. > :10:28.and gas industry. Alan Lloyd is the director here. Good news, obviously.

:10:29. > :10:35.What do you put this affects down to? It shows you the quality of the

:10:36. > :10:41.product we reduce it is down to the people that work here. The workforce

:10:42. > :10:45.is very reliable and conscientious about the product that would produce

:10:46. > :10:50.for the marketplace. Hartlepool is an area that does need more jobs.

:10:51. > :10:56.How significant is this for the local area and what does it generate

:10:57. > :11:02.a locally? This is tremendous for the local area. The local economy

:11:03. > :11:08.will benefit from personal economy down to the local paper shop. The

:11:09. > :11:12.guys pick up milk and paper, daily. The whole infrastructure benefits.

:11:13. > :11:21.Not only the wind `` the yard, but the wider world as well. There has

:11:22. > :11:25.been a small drop in and implement in the north`east today, it is still

:11:26. > :11:31.too high, in the country, or to companies like yours need to have

:11:32. > :11:34.success and create more jobs? I think it is the food chain we are

:11:35. > :11:40.in, we are in the middle of it and the government needs to exist the

:11:41. > :11:42.expiration people in finding new fields so they can manufacture and

:11:43. > :11:50.produce the sort of project that we build. presumably, manufacturing is

:11:51. > :11:54.crucial. It is and we need the food chain to supply to the

:11:55. > :11:59.manufacturers. Without that, there is no project to build. It needs the

:12:00. > :12:01.food chain involvement from the government to make sure that

:12:02. > :12:06.exploration continues and that we can choose the sorts of projects for

:12:07. > :12:13.the North Sea. More jobs being created here, more jobs needed, and

:12:14. > :12:18.in the south east, the own planet is down to 5%, which is half as much as

:12:19. > :12:22.it is in the north`east. `` the unemployment is down.

:12:23. > :12:25.There's been gridlock in a County Durham town after a free half`term

:12:26. > :12:27.attraction pulled in hundreds of carloads of visitors. Locomotion,

:12:28. > :12:30.the National Rail Museum at Shildon, is hosting the Great Goodbye until

:12:31. > :12:33.Sunday. It's brought together all six surviving A4 class steam

:12:34. > :12:36.locomotives, including the world speed record holder, Mallard, which

:12:37. > :12:42.will return to the USA after this event. All six locos were previously

:12:43. > :12:45.at the National Rail Museum in York. Well worth seeing.

:12:46. > :12:49.His country and its people have been blighted by war and poverty. And the

:12:50. > :12:52.story of his own journey from Sierra Leone to professional football in

:12:53. > :12:55.England is itself quite remarkable. But now Middlesbrough striker Kei

:12:56. > :12:58.Kamara is doing his bit to help those still experiencing the horrors

:12:59. > :13:02.of life in his homeland. Today he went to meet one charity providing

:13:03. > :13:16.aid on the ground, in the hope of raising awareness. Bob Cooper has

:13:17. > :13:21.this report. We know him for this. But this is the environment Kei

:13:22. > :13:26.Kamara grew up in. The bloody civil war that engulfed Sierra Leone for

:13:27. > :13:32.11 years began when he was just six years old. It is tough to grow up in

:13:33. > :13:37.a war`torn country but that the same time, it may be the person I am

:13:38. > :13:45.today, put a lot more smiles on my face, made me a man today. His

:13:46. > :13:54.mother is kept to America. my mother was gone for 15, 18 years, before I

:13:55. > :14:00.found her. It is a pretty long time. It was tough, it was tough, but she

:14:01. > :14:07.did well, she would talk `` call and talk to us and send us pictures here

:14:08. > :14:11.and there. At the same time, it was pretty amazing. She kept good

:14:12. > :14:16.contact with us. When he finally got to the US, he was able to kick off

:14:17. > :14:21.his football career. Now, he is trying to help those who haven't

:14:22. > :14:25.been so lucky. Today at Middlesbrough's training ground, he

:14:26. > :14:29.met someone from his hometown who works for a charity which is doing

:14:30. > :14:34.relief work in the country with a helper funding from a Catholic aid

:14:35. > :14:41.agency. He hopes his profile will help boost donations. the fact that

:14:42. > :14:47.people have great passion for football in Sierra Leone, I think

:14:48. > :14:50.for them, he is an icon, to start off with. I think they will listen

:14:51. > :14:58.to him. You have to raise the consciousness of the people. Why are

:14:59. > :15:04.they living in such poverty stricken communities. He may have been away

:15:05. > :15:10.for a long time but Kei Kamara hasn't forgotten who his people. ``

:15:11. > :15:13.who his people are. You're watching Wednesday's Look

:15:14. > :15:17.North. Mark Tulip joins me shortly for tonight's sports news. Also

:15:18. > :15:20.still to come: Could ditching these in favour of...these really boost a

:15:21. > :15:29.city's economy by an estimated ?20 million and bring more jobs?

:15:30. > :15:38.And I will be here with a look at the weather for the next few days to

:15:39. > :15:41.come. A landowner in North Yorkshire has

:15:42. > :15:47.caused controversy by advertising a plot of land for use by a traveller

:15:48. > :15:49.family. As with most similar cases, there've been lots of local

:15:50. > :15:53.objections, and the local council rejected plans to turn the plot into

:15:54. > :15:56.a traveller site. But that decision has recently been overturned by a

:15:57. > :15:59.planning inspector on appeal, partly because there's a need for more

:16:00. > :16:03.traveller or gypsy sites in the area. So now the triumphant owner is

:16:04. > :16:08.on the look`out for a single travelling family to move in. Phil

:16:09. > :16:22.Chapman has been to see the site near Northallerton. Come on in. This

:16:23. > :16:27.is being used as you leisure site so people could have a caravan here. It

:16:28. > :16:33.is not your average estate agent sales pitch. This humble strip of

:16:34. > :16:35.land has been at the heart of a major controversy here. The

:16:36. > :16:39.landowner had wanted to build a house on a plot but then when that

:16:40. > :16:45.was refused, he switched to the travelling site idea. He didn't want

:16:46. > :16:51.to appear personally on the TV but was happy to have the estate agency

:16:52. > :16:55.take up the story on his behalf. it went to an appeal and the planning

:16:56. > :17:01.inspector said there was a need for the sites in the area, it is in a

:17:02. > :17:05.perfect situation, handy for Northallerton, on a good road, it is

:17:06. > :17:11.private, it is sustainable and he basically said yes, it is exactly

:17:12. > :17:17.what we are looking for so it has passed. The council doesn't run any

:17:18. > :17:25.travelling site itself but there are two run under the authority of

:17:26. > :17:29.another County Council nearby. Both have 16 pitches and now, after the

:17:30. > :17:35.recent appeal, there is this single family plot near Northallerton.

:17:36. > :17:37.There is a little bit of a knot in my backyard situation but the way I

:17:38. > :17:45.look at it, we are talking about human beings, they have a right to

:17:46. > :17:47.live here as much as anybody. For some neighbours living near this

:17:48. > :17:55.plot, they are more concerned about what they feel to be inconsistencies

:17:56. > :18:01.in planning decisions. Here I am looking at this with the potential

:18:02. > :18:07.business, I had an extra ?100,000 a `` a year in income and I implored

:18:08. > :18:15.`` employed staff and it was removed. It is so OK, it is

:18:16. > :18:21.unbelievable. Whatever works others might have with local planning

:18:22. > :18:24.decisions, the local authority's authority was overruled. I

:18:25. > :18:29.sympathise with the residents who are close by but we have a process

:18:30. > :18:33.to go through. There is a need for Gypsy pitches which has been

:18:34. > :18:38.identified within Hambleton and we are going some way towards this. On

:18:39. > :18:43.this particular site, it wasn't sustainable and that is the reason

:18:44. > :18:47.the planning committee refused it. The landlord went to appeal and he

:18:48. > :18:55.won it. Hence I understand the site is now being marketed for a single

:18:56. > :19:02.Gypsy pitch. Science for people on both sides of the fence, the next

:19:03. > :19:08.chapter in the story is likely to involve a travelling family moving

:19:09. > :19:11.in. It's been claimed today that

:19:12. > :19:14.Newcastle will become one of the UK's first super`connected cities

:19:15. > :19:16.within 18 months. A ?10 million scheme has been launched to install

:19:17. > :19:17.super`fast fibre broadband throughout the city, as Andrew

:19:18. > :19:27.Hartley reports. It's made to look like child's play.

:19:28. > :19:30.But this is serious business. The Go Digital Newcastle scheme launched

:19:31. > :19:41.today will cost ?10 million and boost the city's economy by millions

:19:42. > :19:46.more. Most broadband here today is delivered over copper wires. The

:19:47. > :19:49.next generation will be over fibre`optic cable which will allow

:19:50. > :19:55.much greater speed and much greater reliability. Engineers are removing

:19:56. > :20:02.answered this to be replaced by this. Fibre`optic cable, barely

:20:03. > :20:04.wider than a strand of hair and yet able to deliver information at a

:20:05. > :20:13.million times the speed. The message here is faster broadband is good

:20:14. > :20:17.news for jobs. What it is going to give us and our customers is the

:20:18. > :20:22.speed, the capacity to deal with much larger, much more capable

:20:23. > :20:27.systems. And they can serve up great stuff to their customers in turn so

:20:28. > :20:30.they can attract more this news. One in three residents in Newcastle

:20:31. > :20:37.still don't use the internet and it's hoped this will change that. We

:20:38. > :20:42.haven't even begun to see the difference it can make, the how ``

:20:43. > :20:48.how it can save money, but to do that, we need everyone online and

:20:49. > :20:52.for it not to be a minority activity. But if you live or work

:20:53. > :20:55.elsewhere, you won't be missing out. This is a national roll`out of

:20:56. > :20:59.superfast broadband which will see similar schemes up and running right

:21:00. > :21:07.round the region. Let's start with last night's

:21:08. > :21:13.football action. And a pretty satisfying evening for two of our

:21:14. > :21:16.clubs. Hartlepool picked up a hard`earned away point in their

:21:17. > :21:19.quest for a League Two play`off place. Meanwhile, Carlisle made up

:21:20. > :21:22.for lost time after the postponement of their previous game. Victory at

:21:23. > :21:26.Coventry's temporary home moves them six points clear of the League One

:21:27. > :21:30.relegation zone. Away teams aren't sent to Coventry

:21:31. > :21:32.these days. The famous Sky Blues have to play their home matches at

:21:33. > :21:35.Northampton's Sixfields ground because of a stadium dispute.

:21:39. > :21:41.Moussa's 14th goal of the season. Conceding a second goal would have

:21:42. > :21:45.been disastrous for the Cumbrians, just as well Jason Pickford was at

:21:46. > :21:47.his most athletic as the Carlisle defence just about held firm.

:21:48. > :21:49.Moussa's 14th goal of the season. Conceding a second goal The visitors

:21:50. > :21:54.equalised when successive lay`offs found an unmarked Liam Noble early

:21:55. > :21:57.in the second half. And the comeback was complete when Sam Byrne, on loan

:21:58. > :22:03.from Manchester United, finished in style to take Carlisle up to 14th.

:22:04. > :22:06.Hartlepool slipped a place in League Two despite a battling draw at

:22:07. > :22:10.play`off rivals Southend. Barry Corr gave the home side the lead just

:22:11. > :22:13.before half`time. And it could have been worse for Pools had keeper

:22:14. > :22:16.Scott Flinders been found wanting but a defensive blunder allowed

:22:17. > :22:20.Bradley Walker to earned a point with a long`range volley to leave

:22:21. > :22:26.his side ninth, six points off a play`off spot. It could have been

:22:27. > :22:30.worse. Last`ditch defending here. It could have been even better. But the

:22:31. > :22:34.signs are looking good for a late promotion push.

:22:35. > :22:41.Now, picture the scene. You sign an Argentina rugby union international

:22:42. > :22:44.who then immediately suffers a serious hamstring injury before he's

:22:45. > :22:47.even played a club game. Well, Gonzalo Tiesi has now played two

:22:48. > :22:49.Premiership away matches for Newcastle Falcons and on Sunday, the

:22:50. > :22:52.ex`Harlequins and London Irish centre, who's now 28, hopes to

:22:53. > :23:03.sample the Kingston Park atmosphere for the first time when league

:23:04. > :23:08.leaders Northampton come calling. All these sleek, very frustrating,

:23:09. > :23:17.having signed and knowing I was coming. `` obviously very

:23:18. > :23:20.frustrating. I have spent two months on the sidelines, working on my

:23:21. > :23:27.rehab. Fortunately, I am back playing now. Northampton are a

:23:28. > :23:29.strong side, they will play well. Obviously, we have a bit of

:23:30. > :23:37.confidence from those Games we played well, and hopefully, this

:23:38. > :23:42.time playing well, it'll be a tough game but we will post it and win it.

:23:43. > :23:46.There will be full commentary on that on BBC Newcastle.

:23:47. > :23:49.And if Gonazalo has had to be patient, what about County

:23:50. > :23:52.Durham`born bobsleigh driver John Jackson at the Winter Olympics?

:23:53. > :23:55.Britain's number one has to wait until the final weekend in Sochi for

:23:56. > :23:58.the four`man bob competition. He's just glad to be in Russia after

:23:59. > :24:01.snapping his achilles in pre`season ` requiring pioneering surgery `

:24:02. > :24:04.and, of course, four years ago in Vancouver, his Olympic chances were

:24:05. > :24:12.derailed by this crash. So, how's the 36`year`old feeling three days

:24:13. > :24:16.ahead of competing? Qualifying for an Olympic Games is a major thing in

:24:17. > :24:22.itself but with the injury that I have had and only being selected for

:24:23. > :24:28.the team exactly six months after my operation, I know I can hold my head

:24:29. > :24:33.up high and I have achieved something special, no matter what

:24:34. > :24:40.results we get. Good luck to John and the lads. Right, time for the

:24:41. > :24:46.weather. It was quite nice but while today but these things have a habit

:24:47. > :24:49.of not lasting. Give us the worst. Well, things are going to turn for

:24:50. > :24:55.the worst overnight tonight but first, a clear night behind us. The

:24:56. > :25:03.Angel of the North and Star trails, thank you to Christian took this

:25:04. > :25:09.picture. The night, no stars in the sky, rain, but it will be mild, no

:25:10. > :25:17.chance of frost, temperatures do not drop love enough. `` love enough. It

:25:18. > :25:25.will be misty across the region. Temperatures falling no lower than

:25:26. > :25:29.six to five Celsius for most spots. Notice the brisk breezes from the

:25:30. > :25:35.South West which starts to pick up overnight. More showers through the

:25:36. > :25:39.morning rush hour but they will start to become more patchy and

:25:40. > :25:42.light. Sunshine breaks out from North Yorkshire, in particular, the

:25:43. > :25:51.North Yorkshire coast best favoured tomorrow and late on `` later run.

:25:52. > :25:55.The temperatures will go higher than today through the afternoon. The

:25:56. > :26:00.highest today was nine Celsius, so feeling particularly mild. But

:26:01. > :26:05.tempered just a little bit by the brisk south`westerly winds which

:26:06. > :26:09.continued his great strong just across the region, the gusts lasting

:26:10. > :26:13.a few seconds could be even stronger. Sunshine for the Cumbrian

:26:14. > :26:17.coast and a fine afternoon here as well. We leave the details seen

:26:18. > :26:23.there. Let's have another big picture. Thursday tea`time, the area

:26:24. > :26:29.of low pressure sweeps away to the east, but there is another way ``

:26:30. > :26:33.another one behind it. Friday Saturday, some showers. Notice the

:26:34. > :26:38.isobars taxis wheezed, strong winds, and on Sunday, things turn

:26:39. > :26:44.wet once again, generally from the west, but for the East as well as in

:26:45. > :26:48.Cumbria. What does that mean for the detail? Let's take a look at the

:26:49. > :26:55.picture across the north`east. Too bad on Friday and Saturday. White

:26:56. > :26:59.cloudy at times. All the while, it is likely to be breezy. And it is

:27:00. > :27:03.the West that we are expecting to see the worst of the showers in

:27:04. > :27:07.through Friday and Saturday, heavy at times, ready hammering down

:27:08. > :27:12.through Friday and on Sunday, everywhere is likely to be wet and

:27:13. > :27:17.windy, still, so low`pressure continuing to dominate this winter.

:27:18. > :27:20.Thanks Hannah. Now for a last look at tonight's headlines: At least 26

:27:21. > :27:23.people have been killed in violent clashes between protesters and

:27:24. > :27:25.police in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

:27:26. > :27:28.Here, the Casualty actor Clive Mantle has described in court the

:27:29. > :27:37.moment he was attacked in a hotel and part of his ear was bitten off.

:27:38. > :27:42.That is it from us tonight. We are back with a late news at 10:25pm.

:27:43. > :27:45.Until then, have a good evening, goodbye. Goodbye.
