:00:12. > :00:14.Good evening. The region's bank holiday weather forecast in a few

:00:15. > :00:17.moments, but first around 2000 people turned out for the 10th

:00:18. > :00:21.annual North Tyneside 10k road race this morning. The event sees club

:00:22. > :00:27.runners from all over the country follow a course along the coast

:00:28. > :00:31.Carl Smith from Whitley Bay won the race on home turf as Alison Freeman

:00:32. > :00:35.reports. An energetic start to Easter Sunday. While many wdre

:00:36. > :00:39.cracking open their chocolate eggs, these runners were pounding the road

:00:40. > :00:44.along the North East coast. The annual North Tyneside 10k r`ce is

:00:45. > :00:53.now in its 10th year. This xear s winner, Carl Smith from Whitley Bay.

:00:54. > :01:01.It was tough with the wind `long the coast, but I thought I may `s well

:01:02. > :01:04.wasted on Easter because it is a special anniversary and there are a

:01:05. > :01:10.lot more years to come for this event. The first woman home was

:01:11. > :01:17.Debbie Appleton from Essex. A good atmosphere, good fun and a beautiful

:01:18. > :01:28.view across the sea, so really nice. This challenging coastal route

:01:29. > :01:37.ends at Saint Mary 's Lighthouse. I am ready for the chocolate. And the

:01:38. > :01:43.bacon sandwiches. A really cold day. Lunch, a bit of wine, an Easter egg

:01:44. > :01:48.and time with the family. When we started ten years ago we had 50

:01:49. > :01:53.runners, but now we have got 20 0 runners. We know it is a social

:01:54. > :01:57.occasion and people like to run with friends and family and it w`s

:01:58. > :02:00.heartening today to see everybody coming out on Easter Sunday.

:02:01. > :02:06.Organisers hope the race will keep on running for decades to come. The

:02:07. > :02:09.Bishop of Durham has led his first Easter Day service since behng

:02:10. > :02:12.enthroned. The Right Reverend Paul Butler, took a dawn service of

:02:13. > :02:15.initiation and communion at Durham Cathedral in which he baptised five

:02:16. > :02:19.people and then confirmed them along with 20 others from churches across

:02:20. > :02:25.the dioceses. Bishop Paul g`ve a sermon in which he spoke of fear and

:02:26. > :02:29.what makes us afraid. Lifeguards are working for free on

:02:30. > :02:32.one of the North East's most popular beaches this weekend. They `re

:02:33. > :02:38.patrolling Longsands beach `t Tynemouth. The weekend of volunteer

:02:39. > :02:41.shifts is a trial and if successful, they hope they will have thdir hours

:02:42. > :02:48.extended to cover the Easter weekend for years to come.

:02:49. > :02:53.It is the sixth best beach hn Great Britain and is really popul`r no

:02:54. > :02:58.matter what the weather. People are always down here and it is ` popular

:02:59. > :03:02.surfing beach. It is import`nt to have lifeguards down here preventing

:03:03. > :03:05.any possible risks to the ptblic. Football and who would have thought

:03:06. > :03:09.it? There is new hope among Sunderland fans that the Bl`ck Cats

:03:10. > :03:11.may yet escape relegation this season following their victory over

:03:12. > :03:14.Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The win leaves Stnderland

:03:15. > :03:18.still at the bottom of the table, but within three points of loving

:03:19. > :03:24.out of the relegation zone. Damian O'Neil reports. What a diffdrence a

:03:25. > :03:27.football match can make. For weeks Sunderland have been staring into

:03:28. > :03:29.the abyss with relegation looking increasingly certain, but this

:03:30. > :03:36.stunning away win at Chelse` has brought a fresh sense of urgency to

:03:37. > :03:39.the final games of the season. It comes after the Black Cats held

:03:40. > :03:43.title chasers Manchester City to a 2`2 draw just four days previously

:03:44. > :03:48.and after manager Gus Poyet said they needed a miracle. Connor

:03:49. > :03:51.Wickham equalised for Sunderland in the 18th minute after Chelsda opened

:03:52. > :03:54.the scoring and after sever`l chances for Chelsea Sunderl`nd were

:03:55. > :04:00.given a penalty when Jozy Altidore was fouled. Fabio Borini didn't

:04:01. > :04:03.waste the opportunity, inflhcting Jose Mourinho's first home Premier

:04:04. > :04:11.league defeat in 78 games as Chelsea manager. Sunderland are not out of

:04:12. > :04:17.trouble yet, but the impact of this victory on their chances of survival

:04:18. > :04:20.can't be underestimated. Meanwhile Newcastle have now lost

:04:21. > :04:26.five Premier League games in a row for the first time. They were beaten

:04:27. > :04:29.2`1 at home by Swansea yestdrday. Shola Ameobi gave the Magpids the

:04:30. > :04:32.lead, but Wilfried Bony scored twice for the visitors with the whnning

:04:33. > :04:39.goal coming from the penaltx spot in injury time. It was the last game of

:04:40. > :04:42.Alan Pardew's touchline ban. To rugby union and in the

:04:43. > :04:47.premiership Newcastle Falcons lost 23`18 to league leaders Sar`cens at

:04:48. > :04:52.Kingston Park. With two gamds to go the Falcons are still not s`fe from

:04:53. > :04:53.relegation. Let's have a look at the region's weather prospects for bank

:04:54. > :05:06.holiday Monday with Kate Crdwdson. Into tonight it is going to turn

:05:07. > :05:11.cloudy from the south and wd are looking at missed forming. For most

:05:12. > :05:16.of us it will be drive for ` time, but cloud will increase frol the

:05:17. > :05:20.south. There could be a few outbreaks of light rain and

:05:21. > :05:27.drizzle, mainly over the hills. It is going to be a relatively mild

:05:28. > :05:31.night, quite breezy as well. Easter Monday stars of fairly cloudy and

:05:32. > :05:36.quite breezy as well. Cumbrha will see the best of the weather

:05:37. > :05:42.tomorrow. Elsewhere it is v`riable and there will be some bright and

:05:43. > :05:49.sunny spells. I risk of a fdw showers on the post later on in the

:05:50. > :05:53.afternoon. In the West it gdts up to around 16 or 17. That is it so fired

:05:54. > :05:59.this Easter Sunday. There is more detail on our news

:06:00. > :06:08.website. I will have our late update at 10:15pm. Good evening.

:06:09. > :06:15.Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the

:06:16. > :06:17.UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the

:06:18. > :06:21.course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been

:06:22. > :06:27.getting heavy across southern England. A narrow band for London,

:06:28. > :06:32.for the south Midlands, to south Wales and the south west. Lots of

:06:33. > :06:36.water on the roads. Overnight it will move away out towards the west.

:06:37. > :06:40.A few showers across northern England and into Northern Ireland

:06:41. > :06:44.for a time. Otherwise it looks like staying largely dry. A mild night as

:06:45. > :06:48.well. Nothing like as cold as last night. Just the far north perhaps

:06:49. > :06:53.seeing temperatures dipping away under clearer skies. A cloudy start

:06:54. > :06:59.for many of us tomorrow. The sun will break through every now and

:07:00. > :07:02.then. Areas bordering the Irish Sea looking good as well. You will

:07:03. > :07:08.notice showers developing further south. As we go into the afternoon,

:07:09. > :07:09.a zone of heavy showers across the south Midlands and into
