:00:00. > :00:08.Welcome to Friday's Look North. In tonight's headlines: A life sentence

:00:09. > :00:13.for a man obsessed by the lottery. He murdered his neighbour. She was a

:00:14. > :00:17.pensioner who tried to help him. Local election results. No councils

:00:18. > :00:22.change hands. Labour continue to dominate and UKIP win two seats in

:00:23. > :00:25.Hartlepool. Ready for home. The country's young heart patient is

:00:26. > :00:30.leaving hospital for the very first time. Parking patrols.

:00:31. > :00:43.Schoolchildren ticket dangerously parked cars following concerns over

:00:44. > :00:46.safety. The forecast later. In sport, Durham are hoping for a

:00:47. > :00:49.rain`free weekend, with England's cricketers in town on Sunday. But

:00:50. > :00:52.will the merger of rugby league and rugby union go down a storm as

:00:53. > :01:04.Thunder join forces with the Falcons?

:01:05. > :01:12.Murdered for just ?30 by a man who'd blown his benefits on the national

:01:13. > :01:16.lottery. It's a tragic story. Rose Doughty, who was 72, was killed at

:01:17. > :01:20.her flat in the Netherfields area of Middlesbrough by a neighbour,

:01:21. > :01:24.41`year`old Christian Darko. He was a man she'd repeatedly helped. Darko

:01:25. > :01:27.admitted killing her, but said it was manslaughter because of

:01:28. > :01:31.diminished reponsibility. A jury this afternoon decided it was

:01:32. > :01:35.murder. He was given life and will serve a minimum of 27 years. Our

:01:36. > :01:39.Chief Reporter Chris Stewart has the story.

:01:40. > :01:43.A man so consumed by greed it would cost a kindly neighbour her life.

:01:44. > :01:48.Christian Darko came from Ghana and didn't like Teesside. His plan was

:01:49. > :01:55.to win the National Lottery to pay for a move to London. And that's

:01:56. > :02:03.where his money went. How much exactly? His benefits were ?75 a

:02:04. > :02:07.week and of that ?60 went on lottery tickets. He had convinced himself

:02:08. > :02:11.the big win was just around the corner. It's the day of the murder

:02:12. > :02:14.and Darko's leaves his flat to go upstairs to ask Rose Doughty for

:02:15. > :02:17.money. But in the carrier bag, there's a knife. And when she

:02:18. > :02:21.refuses this time to hand over any cash, he kills her. He takes ?30

:02:22. > :02:25.from her handbag within ten minutes, he'd be spending some of that money

:02:26. > :02:33.on more lottery tickets. Mrs Doughty's daughter says there could

:02:34. > :02:37.only be one verdict. He went up there with the intention to kill our

:02:38. > :02:41.wonderful mother. He did it out of greed. It had to be murder and not

:02:42. > :02:50.manslaughter because he murdered her. Your mum was a kind woman in a

:02:51. > :02:55.way because she was kind he went back to be pestered again and again?

:02:56. > :03:03.If she was not kind she would not be dead. She was a good neighbour and

:03:04. > :03:08.lent him a flask with hot water the night before, we are talking about

:03:09. > :03:13.the winter months and had no electricity due to him spending his

:03:14. > :03:16.disposable income being spent on the lottery. So a kind grandmother who

:03:17. > :03:26.paid a dreadful price for that kindness. That, says her family,

:03:27. > :03:30.makes her loss even harder to bear. Finally they're all in. The region's

:03:31. > :03:34.local election results have been declared. And while UKIP has two new

:03:35. > :03:37.councillors in Hartlepool and came second in many wards across the

:03:38. > :03:44.region it didn't make a wider breakthrough. Here's the final

:03:45. > :03:46.picture tonight. Labour held on to all its councils and the

:03:47. > :03:52.Conservatives maintained their grip in Harrogate. And while high profile

:03:53. > :03:54.Lib Dems kept their Newcastle seats the party struggled elsewhere

:03:55. > :04:00.finishing sixth in one Carlisle ward. So nine councils held

:04:01. > :04:04.elections. None changed hands and out of the 175 seats up for grabs

:04:05. > :04:09.across the North East and Cumbria it was a good night for Labour. With

:04:10. > :04:17.the round`up of a long night and the morning after here's our Political

:04:18. > :04:21.Correspondent Mark Denten. Tonight 's political weather report, no

:04:22. > :04:26.earthquakes but a few political casualties. In Hartlepool UKIP

:04:27. > :04:32.picked up two seats, one from Labour and one from the independents.

:04:33. > :04:37.People are voting for UKIP because we are a national party with a lot

:04:38. > :04:42.of new and positive ideas for the way the country needs to be run. We

:04:43. > :04:48.are beginning to resonate with the local population. But that was the

:04:49. > :04:53.high point for UKIP. There was a lot of second places but no more seats.

:04:54. > :04:59.In Sunderland, the party picked up more than 30% of the votes. Labour

:05:00. > :05:05.held the council but the man lost his seat to an independent. The

:05:06. > :05:10.elections were close and there have been over the last 12 years. It was

:05:11. > :05:15.one of those things where I knew it would have to go right to the wire,

:05:16. > :05:21.70 votes in it that's all. The Conservatives gained a seat, but

:05:22. > :05:26.lost one as well. We have coming with a councils and will go out with

:05:27. > :05:29.eight councillors. We have been able to increase our majority quite

:05:30. > :05:37.considerably. Overall it has been a good night. In Carlisle, Labour held

:05:38. > :05:41.the council and gained one seat. The Conservatives were unchanged. The

:05:42. > :05:49.two politicians locked in that general election both found reasons

:05:50. > :05:52.to be cheerful. We held our own and within the city council especially

:05:53. > :05:59.so it is a good result. We held overseas we hope to hold and our

:06:00. > :06:02.votes have held up to. It is a good base going forward to the general

:06:03. > :06:07.election next year. The Lib Dems were brutally exposed, not only

:06:08. > :06:14.losing a seat but coming six as well. Their tally was only 31 votes.

:06:15. > :06:18.At the end of the day it is pretty dismal for us. But that is politics

:06:19. > :06:25.isn't it. I think things could turn around. There was better news for

:06:26. > :06:33.the Lib Dems in South Lakeland. They only lost one seat. In Newcastle

:06:34. > :06:38.those relieved faces tell it all. The Lib Dems get their sees thereto.

:06:39. > :06:41.We know one or two seats were targeted by the labours, mine was

:06:42. > :06:49.one of them so we're pleased to have one. We are pleased Newcastle have

:06:50. > :06:53.faith in the Liberal Democrats. 24 councillors which is enough to hold

:06:54. > :06:58.and ministry in to account which is exactly what we will continue to do.

:06:59. > :07:03.Labour gained a seat in North Tyneside, cue a happy Labour mayor.

:07:04. > :07:09.We have held onto our seas and gain two. I think any other counties will

:07:10. > :07:16.have done that. There was disappointment for Tyneside, the

:07:17. > :07:20.former mayor could not get back on the council beaten by Labour. Better

:07:21. > :07:27.news for her colleagues 80 miles south. They held Harrogate council,

:07:28. > :07:32.once again a story of UKIP coming second but with no wins. We have

:07:33. > :07:40.come second and we're reasonably idol of winning, but nationally we

:07:41. > :07:44.have had a good day. Labour stayed strong in Tyneside and Gateshead

:07:45. > :07:54.holding 18 seats and losing once an independent. In Gateshead there was

:07:55. > :07:57.no change, Labour and Lib Dems kept the same seats. No political

:07:58. > :08:01.earthquakes or councils shifted, also scratching their heads trying

:08:02. > :08:04.to work out the political weather forecast.

:08:05. > :08:12.Our political editor Richard Moss joins me now. Richard, what do these

:08:13. > :08:15.results mean? Good question. On the face nothing much has changed.

:08:16. > :08:20.Labour still dominate and the Lib Dems took another hit. The

:08:21. > :08:25.Conservatives are main strong in areas where they have often been

:08:26. > :08:32.strong. We have the UKIP factor though T. What does this mean. They

:08:33. > :08:36.polled well but have no seats. They wanted to build a bridge to these

:08:37. > :08:39.councils to gain seats on them. Their opposition can turn around and

:08:40. > :08:46.say you voted UKIP but they did not get anywhere. What they hope is the

:08:47. > :08:52.will be cracks in the foundation so voting UKIP will become habit. There

:08:53. > :08:57.is an antiestablishment feeling. In Copeland in West Cumbria there was a

:08:58. > :09:00.referendum to have and are elected mayor. This council has been

:09:01. > :09:07.controlled by Labour for 35 years but now the control is under threat.

:09:08. > :09:12.They wanted an elected mayor, the first authority to buy one of these

:09:13. > :09:17.since 2001. When you are run by an elected mayor or whatever party,

:09:18. > :09:22.what does not change the budget cuts on how to manage these. We still

:09:23. > :09:27.have the European elections as well. What can we expect from those? That

:09:28. > :09:36.could be great news for UKIP. The polling shows they have a chance to

:09:37. > :09:39.get the first MEP in the North. The rest of the combination, Labour

:09:40. > :09:43.should judging by these figures come top of the pile in the north`east.

:09:44. > :09:50.All these parties will be studying this to look at the next back set of

:09:51. > :09:53.elections, crucial seats I Carlisle and Stockton South which Labour need

:09:54. > :09:55.to win to get into power. Thanks Richard. And there'll be more

:09:56. > :10:07.analysis of the local election results in Sunday Politics at

:10:08. > :10:12.23.00PM on BBC One. A woman's body was recovered from

:10:13. > :10:18.the River Tyne this morning although formal identification has not been

:10:19. > :10:23.identified yet. She has been missing from a home in Byker since May the

:10:24. > :10:27.2nd. A coroner's ruled that a 17`year`old

:10:28. > :10:29.boy whose body was discovered on a Cumbrian beach killed himself after

:10:30. > :10:31.receiving violent threats on Facebook.

:10:32. > :10:34.Callum Moody`Chapman from Grimsby went missing from his aunt's home in

:10:35. > :10:39.Maryport just days before last Christmas. A postmortem found that

:10:40. > :10:46.he'd drowned. Today an inquest heard he'd sobbed as he read threats made

:10:47. > :10:49.on the social media site. Callum Moody Chapman, was described as a

:10:50. > :10:55.happy`go`lucky boy, who loved his family and put others before

:10:56. > :10:59.himself. Keen on skateboarding and riding his BMX, Callum had no

:11:00. > :11:03.problem making friends. You never could meet another boy like him, if

:11:04. > :11:07.he got into trouble at school he wouldn't be in trouble long because

:11:08. > :11:10.he knew how to work his charm. You know, he was unbelievable. But one

:11:11. > :11:14.weekend last December his life was turned upside down when he read

:11:15. > :11:22.threats to stab and beat him on Facebook. He was so troubled by it a

:11:23. > :11:26.coroner decided today, he killed himself. After today's hearing,

:11:27. > :11:31.Callum's mum and dad said cyber bullying had taken their son's life.

:11:32. > :11:35.From what I would say to parents is, I know you don't like trying to be

:11:36. > :11:39.nosy and look into your child's personal accounts or whatever, but

:11:40. > :11:46.you have to look out for the signs, the signs of bullying. The cyber

:11:47. > :11:50.bullying going on at the moment is rife. There are people out there

:11:51. > :11:57.that do it, they use Facebook as a weapon not as what it should be used

:11:58. > :12:02.for friends and for genuine chats. The evidence Callum's family heard

:12:03. > :12:05.was harrowing. The night he disappeared, he came to the harbour

:12:06. > :12:10.here crying and sobbing, he made two phone calls. One was to's older

:12:11. > :12:14.brother Robert to say yet messed up his life and he was sorry and asked

:12:15. > :12:19.his brother to say goodbye to his baby niece. The second call was to

:12:20. > :12:24.his father Kevin, he said simply, dad I love you. One 17`year`old boy

:12:25. > :12:27.who cannot be named for legal reasons, earlier this year pleaded

:12:28. > :12:31.guilty for charges of assault and offences under the malicious

:12:32. > :12:41.Communications act. A baby thought to be one of the

:12:42. > :12:47.a baby thought to be one of the youngest in the world to undergo

:12:48. > :12:51.open`heart surgery is now well enough to go home. Chanel Murrish

:12:52. > :12:54.had just been born when open heart surgery was carried out to save her

:12:55. > :12:58.life, with another seven hour operation only a week later. Only

:12:59. > :13:01.half of her heart had developed. 50 medical experts have been involved

:13:02. > :13:05.in saving her. Here's our health reporter, Sharon Barbour. Watching

:13:06. > :13:09.her baby sleep peacefully is a sight this mother feared she may never

:13:10. > :13:14.see. A scan when Fay Murrish was pregnant revealed only half her

:13:15. > :13:23.baby's heart had developed. Her chances of survival were low. I was

:13:24. > :13:27.given three options, we could terminate the pregnancy, we could go

:13:28. > :13:30.on with the pregnancy and give birth naturally and go away without any

:13:31. > :13:37.intervention. Or we could take every option and every medical procedure

:13:38. > :13:41.to help. But something remarkable happened. They saw what appeared to

:13:42. > :13:44.be their baby give the thumbs`up from the womb and believed she was

:13:45. > :13:50.telling her parents everything was ok. They decided to do everything

:13:51. > :13:59.they could to save her with the help of around 50 medical experts in

:14:00. > :14:07.Newcastle. There was a big crowd behind us, I had a team with me. She

:14:08. > :14:11.outshone me completely. She had a big crowd in the corner already to

:14:12. > :14:17.grab her as soon as they cut the cord. Her cry turn to a gasp and all

:14:18. > :14:24.I heard was somebody shouts get out of here we do not have time. Lots of

:14:25. > :14:28.different specialists were there involved. The intense this tier, the

:14:29. > :14:31.other cardiologists, the cardiac surgeons, lots of expertise with

:14:32. > :14:36.everybody pulling together to try and arrange things so I delivery was

:14:37. > :14:40.as smooth as possible. The baby was resuscitated and then ventilated as

:14:41. > :14:48.well, the surgeon opened her chest afterwards. After this life`saving

:14:49. > :14:53.open`heart surgery, this was the moment she opened her eyes five days

:14:54. > :14:58.later. Two days later, she underwent another seven hour open`heart

:14:59. > :15:04.operation against the risks were high. Now at three months old,

:15:05. > :15:11.Chanel, the youngest baby in the world to undergo major heart surgery

:15:12. > :15:15.is ready to go home. There she will need more operations and possibly a

:15:16. > :15:22.transplant in the future. For now though, after such a scary start,

:15:23. > :15:29.Chanel number five member of the family is going home at last. It

:15:30. > :15:40.makes you take every day at a time and we are very grateful. She is a

:15:41. > :15:43.picture isn't she? Now it's often claimed there are too many charity

:15:44. > :15:47.shops on our high streets. Well, a north east charity is about to

:15:48. > :15:49.expand the concept by opening a charity supermarket possibly the

:15:50. > :15:54.first in the country. Our Business Correspondent Ian Reeve reports.

:15:55. > :15:59.There are more than 10,000 charity shops in the country. Bu it has been

:16:00. > :16:02.claimed only one charity warehouse. It is here on the outskirts of

:16:03. > :16:07.Stockton, selling from a vast space to raise cash, for a charity that

:16:08. > :16:10.helps families affected by autism. Primarily it is a fundraising

:16:11. > :16:16.exercise, but we wanted to be a hub for parents and supporters so they

:16:17. > :16:19.can meet and share issues. Hopefully also buy something and obviously

:16:20. > :16:24.donate things because we want things donated for other people to buy. For

:16:25. > :16:29.Mr Dicken, the warehouse is a return to the poor track area of Stockton.

:16:30. > :16:35.A place once home to a major part of his DIY empire. Come to Dickens home

:16:36. > :16:39.improvement hypermarket at Stockton. You will realise why people say

:16:40. > :16:44.there is nothing else like it in the country. Unlike in those days, there

:16:45. > :16:49.will only be one paid staff member here. The charity needs about ?1

:16:50. > :16:54.million a year. 20 volunteers will keep it going. I think people come,

:16:55. > :16:57.and feel engaged. It will be a huge superstar, there is a lot of

:16:58. > :17:00.organisation and logistics going into it but we have a tremendous

:17:01. > :17:05.team of volunteers that are dedicating all of their time and

:17:06. > :17:09.energy into making it work. But will people come here and spend? Charity

:17:10. > :17:17.shops get a bad press, supposedly taking over how high Street. ``

:17:18. > :17:21.hour. How about the concept on an enormous scale? It is a new unique

:17:22. > :17:25.experience. The coffee shop helps with that, the free Wi`Fi, we want

:17:26. > :17:30.people to come in and say, I am going to go back there again and

:17:31. > :17:34.enjoy the experience. It does not look like a charity shop. It doesn't

:17:35. > :17:36.feel like one when you come in. There could be more warehouse is

:17:37. > :17:42.established by this particular charity, maybe ten in the

:17:43. > :17:52.north`east. It may be the start of a trend that will be copied elsewhere.

:17:53. > :17:55.Quite a concept. Inconsiderate drivers who park too close to a

:17:56. > :17:59.County Durham school have been targeted by teachers and pupils this

:18:00. > :18:02.afternoon. The children and staff at Vane Road Primary in Newton Aycliffe

:18:03. > :18:05.handed out leaflets to parents on the school run, asking them to park

:18:06. > :18:19.more safely near the school. Adrian Pitches reports. School is out that

:18:20. > :18:24.these pupils have one more assignments. It is to stop people

:18:25. > :18:33.parking outside the school and risking people 's lives. I only go

:18:34. > :18:37.across the road to school but I need to go with my mum because I cannot

:18:38. > :18:45.see which way the cars are coming because they parked outside the

:18:46. > :18:48.house. The children's other one is spearheading this they are asking us

:18:49. > :18:55.as adults to help them be more safe in the school. The parking

:18:56. > :19:00.vigilantes are welcomed by parents and grandparents alike. It is great

:19:01. > :19:04.everyone is getting together to solve this problem. I've been

:19:05. > :19:12.getting on to them about this for years. It has got a really bad over

:19:13. > :19:18.the last few years. Shouldn't we hand out tickets though? I think we

:19:19. > :19:21.have to give out fixed penalty notices because as I say it is

:19:22. > :19:27.saving youngsters from injury and that is what we are here all about.

:19:28. > :19:31.It is not just about the kids, it is about the residents as well who

:19:32. > :19:34.complain about their and safety and their own problems when they come

:19:35. > :19:40.back or go from their homes. After half term pupils and police will see

:19:41. > :19:43.if the campaign has worked. Time for sport now, and one of the

:19:44. > :19:47.region's longest`serving footballers is on the move, Jeff? Yes ` not

:19:48. > :19:51.quite sure where, yet. He's on his holidays at the moment, so we might

:19:52. > :19:54.find out next week. The man in questions is Shola Ameobi released,

:19:55. > :19:58.as expected, by Newcastle United today, after 14 years with the club.

:19:59. > :20:04.Steve Bruce is keen to take him to Hull City. Meanwhile, Magpies'

:20:05. > :20:07.defender Paul Dummett has said he's received on`line death threats from

:20:08. > :20:10.Uruguayan fans, after their star man, Luis Suarez, went in for a knee

:20:11. > :20:13.operation this week. The injury has interrupted the country's World Cup

:20:14. > :20:19.preparations, and they blame Dummett for this challenge in United's game

:20:20. > :20:23.with Liverpool, 12 days ago. The youngster was sent off but the red

:20:24. > :20:29.card was later rescinded and there's no evidence the tackle was directly

:20:30. > :20:32.responsible for Suarez's problem. It's nearly 120 years since rugby

:20:33. > :20:35.split into separate codes League and Union. But today, in an unusual

:20:36. > :20:38.move, the region's only top`flight rugby union club Newcastle Falcons

:20:39. > :20:41.ended months of speculation by announcing they've taken over rugby

:20:42. > :20:52.league side Gateshead Thunder to unite professional game in the north

:20:53. > :20:58.east under one umbrella. The move will apparently benefit both clubs.

:20:59. > :21:00.15 years ago, Gateshead Thunder had one ill`fated season in rugby

:21:01. > :21:03.league's top`flight. Since then, after more financial problems than

:21:04. > :21:07.anybody cares to remember, they are now in the third tier of the game.

:21:08. > :21:13.The aim is to get the Thunder back into the big time. There is a very

:21:14. > :21:17.clear vision. There is a very clear path to get all the way to the super

:21:18. > :21:21.league. What we will not do is sit here today and say that definitely

:21:22. > :21:25.will happen but that will happen if the club is good enough on and off

:21:26. > :21:28.the field. ??FORCECYAN it is the most important thing that has

:21:29. > :21:31.happened since 15 years of those long forgotten days. It will not

:21:32. > :21:35.happen overnight. We are only two leagues away from the super league

:21:36. > :21:39.and getting out of the one we are in should not be too difficult now, we

:21:40. > :21:42.may have a chance this year that we will see. The benefits are obvious.

:21:43. > :21:45.An immediate investment to buy new players, they will retain their

:21:46. > :21:48.identity and coaching setup, there will be financial stability and

:21:49. > :21:52.access to the Falcons facilities. But what is in it for the Falcons?

:21:53. > :21:55.You have to look at the long`term of this. By Gateshead Thunder becoming

:21:56. > :21:58.part of Newcastle Rugby Limited means the overall businesses more

:21:59. > :22:04.sustainable and there will be benefits to Newcastle Falklands as

:22:05. > :22:07.well. `` Balkans. You can see the immediate short`term, the winners in

:22:08. > :22:11.the next few months are Gateshead Thunder. Falcons. They will continue

:22:12. > :22:14.to play the rest of the season at the Thunder Dome at Gateshead

:22:15. > :22:18.Stadium but in the not too distant future they will be playing here at

:22:19. > :22:20.Kingston Park. The home of the Falcons which will hopefully by

:22:21. > :22:24.then, be the brand`new artificial 3`G pitch. It is unlikely to have

:22:25. > :22:28.any crossover of the two clubs but they'll be a crossover of ideas

:22:29. > :22:34.between the two coaches. So for now though, Thunder just need to carry

:22:35. > :22:37.on winning. The rain in Somerset couldn't

:22:38. > :22:40.prevent county champions Durham from slipping to their first defeat of

:22:41. > :22:45.the four`day season ` but no`one from the cricket club will welcome

:22:46. > :22:48.it at Chester`le`Street on Sunday. That's because Durham's ICG is

:22:49. > :22:51.hosting England versus Sri Lanka, the latest One Day International,

:22:52. > :22:58.and a potential money`spinner in a difficult financial climate. Now

:22:59. > :23:02.here's a collectors item, an England victory in 2014. Last nights game

:23:03. > :23:05.may have been a rain affected but hopefully it persuaded cricket fans

:23:06. > :23:08.to snap up the few remaining tickets for Sunday's ODI against Sri Lankan.

:23:09. > :23:11.Local schoolchildren were there today in the drizzle, practising the

:23:12. > :23:16.dance routine they will entertain spectators with during the interval

:23:17. > :23:18.between innings. It is another important milestone in Durham's

:23:19. > :23:24.relatively short history in hosting international matches including,

:23:25. > :23:27.last summer's successful Ashes test. We have had international cricket

:23:28. > :23:32.here every year since 1999 so we are well established. We have

:23:33. > :23:37.demonstrated that we can have events and now the biggest test match there

:23:38. > :23:39.is. I'm confident when we look in the future there will always be

:23:40. > :23:53.significant international cricket in Durham. It would be good to see him

:23:54. > :23:56.back out? Yes without a doubt. They love having him without a doubt. He

:23:57. > :24:00.is a fountain of knowledge, I suppose, as I said earlier, you

:24:01. > :24:03.cannot buy that. His record speaks itself. A bloke to have in your

:24:04. > :24:07.changing room and a fantastic player sure we would not happen for many

:24:08. > :24:10.years to come. Fast bowler, Graham Onions is hoping to return from his

:24:11. > :24:14.latest back injury in 7`10 days, missed yesterday's defeat. He would

:24:15. > :24:17.love to get back into the England squad. But it is first things first

:24:18. > :24:20.with Durham. Of course I'm disappointed. Nobody likes to lose a

:24:21. > :24:23.game of cricket, especially when your champions because the pressure

:24:24. > :24:27.is on more. For me personally, it is disappointing when you see the lads

:24:28. > :24:31.lose when you can do nothing about it. I am 100% determined to get back

:24:32. > :24:46.on the field and help the lads as much as I can really.

:24:47. > :24:53.Let's hope the rain stays away on Sunday. I know so we can ask about

:24:54. > :24:57.that best remark go on then. It will be changeable holiday weekend

:24:58. > :25:05.weather`wise. We might see a few of these. Rainbows. Thank you to Amelia

:25:06. > :25:05.for that picture. Over the weekend we're expected

:25:06. > :25:09.these. Rainbows. Thank you to Amelia for that picture. Over the to see

:25:10. > :25:14.sunshine and a fair few sunshine in the north`east. Overnight tonight is

:25:15. > :25:18.a few showers to come, heavy at first for the North Pennines and the

:25:19. > :25:25.Yorkshire Dales. It is misty over the hills to stop showers blown in

:25:26. > :25:32.from the east but it should die away by dawn. Temperatures as low as nine

:25:33. > :25:35.Celsius. Reasonably mild for the weekend, some spells of sun

:25:36. > :25:40.especially in Cumbria. A few showers around as well. Into late morning

:25:41. > :25:46.and afternoon the showers are more widespread blowing in from the brisk

:25:47. > :25:53.winds from the East. The temperatures are higher than they

:25:54. > :25:58.are today, 14 Celsius. Most places are staying at around 10 Celsius.

:25:59. > :26:04.Not feeling springlike with strong winds and showers coming in from the

:26:05. > :26:07.North Sea, when we tour westward is most of Cumbria is likely to be dry

:26:08. > :26:12.but there is still a risk of showers here as well in the late afternoon.

:26:13. > :26:17.Over the next couple of days, things stay unsettled. An area of low

:26:18. > :26:24.pressure across the UK will slowly move away as high pressure builds to

:26:25. > :26:29.the east. We are expecting things to stay changeable through Sunday,

:26:30. > :26:34.possibly heavy showers for a time. On the bank with a Monday in self,

:26:35. > :26:40.things should become more settled. It should stay that way for much of

:26:41. > :26:45.Tuesday but there is more rain waiting on Tuesday and Wednesday.

:26:46. > :26:50.The detail now. After tomorrow, in Cumbria there will be heavy showers,

:26:51. > :26:55.possibly thunder in some places. By Spurs in between and the

:26:56. > :27:01.temperatures start to climb high. `` showers. There will be trying breaks

:27:02. > :27:08.which will feel more springlike. On the bank holiday thing should be

:27:09. > :27:15.largely dry and fine. Only a few isolated showers. That is more like

:27:16. > :27:19.it for late May. In the north`east, also unsettled on Saturday was

:27:20. > :27:27.showers, heavy in places. Gloomy further north. On Monday things are

:27:28. > :27:31.looking that little bit drier and finer the temperatures will not be

:27:32. > :27:39.as high as they are in the West. That's how the weekend looks. Thank

:27:40. > :27:46.you Anna I have seen better. I think you have. Good night.
