:05:09. > :05:10.and North Yorkshire wrongly decided that 189 offences wouldn't be
:05:11. > :05:12.recorded as crimes. Those cases, including the rapes,
:05:13. > :05:16.are now being looked at agahn. Earlier this month
:05:17. > :05:18.Northumbria Police reviewed 11 rape Our Political Editor

:05:24. > :05:37.in Cleveland and North Yorkshire? There was a similar scenario with
:05:38. > :05:41.what Northumbria talked abott. It was originally classified as a no
:05:42. > :05:44.crime. They were investigatdd but they decided there was enough doubt
:05:45. > :05:50.as to whether a crime had t`ken place. No further action and not in
:05:51. > :05:55.the official figures. In Cldveland and North Yorkshire, this is what
:05:56. > :06:00.inspectors found, they investigated some of the no crimes, Clevdland
:06:01. > :06:06.looked at 84. They found 38 should have been classified as criles,
:06:07. > :06:11.including 12 rapes. In North Yorkshire, inspectors looked at 105
:06:12. > :06:20.places to tears as no crime. `` declared as no crime. 21 rapes were
:06:21. > :06:24.not included. This is not good news after what is happening in
:06:25. > :06:27.Rotherham. One charity workhng with the tins of sexual violence in
:06:28. > :06:35.Teeside accepted that Cleveland does take these offences seriously. ``
:06:36. > :06:43.victims. But they say that this is a hammer blow for victims when it is
:06:44. > :06:48.not recorded. Absolutely terrible. We deal with it all the timd. People
:06:49. > :06:53.come here and they are not believed. That is what prevents peopld from
:06:54. > :06:56.coming forward very often. @nd in situations like this when they are
:06:57. > :07:05.highlighted in the media, that comes to the four again. And more people
:07:06. > :07:09.come forward. And they need support. What have the police forces said?
:07:10. > :07:12.They have accepted that there are problems and they are implelenting
:07:13. > :07:18.measures which have been recommended. Some people sahd that
:07:19. > :07:21.it was not a systematic attdmpt to lower crime figures and it was a
:07:22. > :07:25.mistake of classification. They will look at this again. The polhce are
:07:26. > :07:32.reassuring the public that the teams will be treated properly. They are
:07:33. > :07:38.looking at these with other forces to see if they agree with it. This
:07:39. > :07:43.is an Assistant Chief Const`ble If I was reading that report, H would
:07:44. > :07:46.have concerns. The first thhng is that we are protecting the
:07:47. > :07:49.communities and the tins and they are at the heart of what we do. All
:07:50. > :07:57.of these crimes are at enterprise and put on a system. `` and victims.
:07:58. > :08:03.We have made a number of ch`nges to make sure we improve on what we are
:08:04. > :08:07.doing. North Yorkshire police, this is an example of how they h`ve
:08:08. > :08:10.reclassified crimes. They h`ve said a complaint of sexual assault where
:08:11. > :08:15.alcohol was involved and thdy were not sure if it was consented or not,
:08:16. > :08:20.they have classified that in the past as a non`crime but in future it
:08:21. > :08:23.will be classified as a crile. Further reports Northumbria, Cumbria

:12:42. > :12:48.adopted a flexible system. So that what we have provided will suit the

:12:53. > :12:57.have a hot lunch as many of them do had home. The NHS published league
:12:58. > :13:01.tables showing how hospitals have rated across the region for the
:13:02. > :13:08.quality of food and choice. Many did well. Darlington Memorial and
:13:09. > :13:14.Sunderland Royal scored 96% for the quality of hospital food. The
:13:15. > :13:20.Freeman Hospital was in Newcastle scored 93%. Just over 80% for
:13:21. > :13:26.choice. Some hospitals have performed less well. The Unhversity
:13:27. > :13:34.Hospital of North Tees scordd.. And Cumberland infirmary is amongst the
:13:35. > :13:39.worst, just 78% for its dinners It is certainly an impressive selection
