:00:41. > :00:43.There are also worries about pupils from Kenton School crossing the busy

:00:44. > :00:52.Marching against McDonalds or at least the latest of 30,000plus

:00:53. > :00:57.This one, they say, would bd too near to the 2,000`pupil Kenton

:01:06. > :01:11.We have got the highest ratds in the north`east which in turn ard higher

:01:12. > :01:16.than in England as a whole. It is a real cause of concern. We don't

:01:17. > :01:20.think having a fast`food outlet near to a school is actually going to

:01:21. > :01:24.encourage healthy eating. P`rents say a survey of students reveals a

:01:25. > :01:29.brutally honest prediction of their eating habits if it gets buhlt. They

:01:30. > :01:33.have told us to the survey that they will go on their way into school and

:01:34. > :01:36.they will go on their way home. Some of them will try and go at lunch

:01:37. > :01:40.time. One of the other questions we asked was how they crossed the line.

:01:41. > :01:45.It's a very busy road. A significant number said we don't use thd

:01:46. > :01:49.crossings. Panning officers have recommended the restaurant goes

:02:08. > :02:13.anything but happy at the prospect. A teenage fundraiser says hd'll not

:02:14. > :02:17.let the liquidation of a travel company stop hil

:02:18. > :02:20.from raising money for charhty. Tom Parker

:02:21. > :02:21.from Washington was heading off on an expedition to climb

:02:25. > :02:27.ceased trading on Thursday. He's now taking

:02:28. > :02:32.on challenges closer to homd. Tom Parker should have been on

:02:33. > :02:36.his way up Mount Kilimajaro by now, raising money for the Meninhgits

:02:37. > :02:40.Research Foundation, but he only got as far as Gatwick Airport, where he

:02:41. > :02:44.received notification that the company he was travelling whth,

:02:45. > :02:57.had gone into liquidation. There was an air of that disbelief.

:02:58. > :03:00.There were a few tears. Most people felt angry. We did feel verx

:03:01. > :03:03.betrayed by this company. This was

:03:04. > :03:05.a very personal challenge for Tom. Last year,

:03:06. > :03:07.he was in hospital in a desperate condition and only alive because

:03:08. > :03:17.his mother spotted the symptoms When I first became a mother, we

:03:18. > :03:21.were all given cards about what the symptoms were for meningitis and I

:03:22. > :03:25.had remembered that the rash was the key thing. I just immediately rang

:03:26. > :03:29.999, said I thought it was meningitis. The rash spread

:03:30. > :03:32.throughout his body and one of the young doctors said to me, I think

:03:33. > :03:35.you need to have somebody whth you and at that point, it hit the advice

:03:36. > :03:37.and could possibly die. So back home in Washington,

:03:41. > :03:42.Hardian's Wall, doing the three peaks challdnge and

:03:43. > :03:52.hiking a full circuit of Kehlder. I have to tell these people who

:04:21. > :04:23.Smoking related deaths are lore common in the north of Engl`nd

:04:24. > :04:31.The UK's first dedicated regional anti`smoking programme was set`up

:04:32. > :04:44.Today, 15 local people are going to die and for everyone who dids, there

:04:45. > :04:47.are another 20 suffering from smoke and related illnesses. This is still

:04:48. > :04:52.a big problem for us. And we'll hear what
