:03:40. > :03:44.Work on the new-look Church Street will begin in the New Year

:03:45. > :03:55.Now, a chance encounter between schoolgirls from York and Greece

:03:56. > :03:58.has led to a plan to help improve the lives of refugees.

:03:59. > :04:01.The girls began collecting bags of essential items

:04:02. > :04:09.More than 300 have been sent, as Cathy Killick reports.

:04:14. > :04:16.and at the Mount School in York it's been proven ten times over.

:04:17. > :04:18.The girls have spearheaded a remarkable project

:04:19. > :04:22.that's spread beyond their school, out into York

:04:23. > :04:27.and will come to fruition 2,000 miles away in Greece.

:04:28. > :04:29.The rucksacks contain carefully selected essentials for refugees

:04:30. > :04:34.and have requested by Greek students who met the pupils on a school trip.

:04:35. > :04:37.We came back to York, and we were saying,

:04:38. > :04:41."We could do this, we can get other schools to do it."

:04:42. > :04:43.Knowing the cause it was going to

:04:44. > :04:47.and how appreciative these people were going to be for this,

:04:48. > :04:52.honestly, it was worthwhile, definitely.

:04:53. > :04:59.so like every form did two bags, for like a boy and a girl.

:05:00. > :05:01.Afterwards, people made their own at home,

:05:02. > :05:03.and we kept bringing loads, it was amazing.

:05:04. > :05:06.As many migrants are still living in tents in freezing temperatures,

:05:07. > :05:08.the small comforts, easily transported, will really help.
