:00:29. > :00:32.Their action follows the failure of a legal challenge to overturn

:00:33. > :00:43.Today's roadside protests are, according to the anti-frackers,

:00:44. > :00:48.They have also set up camp a mile or so from the site where

:00:49. > :00:50.planning permission has been permitted to start the first

:00:51. > :00:52.commercial extraction of gas using the controversial technique

:00:53. > :00:59.After failing in everything that we have tried in the last two years,

:01:00. > :01:07.It is all about boots on the ground and direct action.

:01:08. > :01:09.We are hoping that, after Christmas, many of our friends and

:01:10. > :01:12.community members will come to this big field, camp

:01:13. > :01:14.where we are going to create a huge camp,

:01:15. > :01:19.where we are going to stop this industry before it gets started.

:01:20. > :01:21.Gas has been extracted from the same site, using

:01:22. > :01:23.conventional drilling, for over two decades.

:01:24. > :01:24.North Yorkshire County Council granted planning

:01:25. > :01:27.permission to the same production company earlier this year to sink

:01:28. > :01:29.a new well alongside, for fracking -

:01:30. > :01:31.pumping highly-pressurised water and sand, to free gas trapped deep

:01:32. > :01:42.underground in beds of The rules shale.

:01:43. > :01:44.A last-ditch legal attempt to overturn the planning

:01:45. > :01:47.permission for fracking by campaign groups on safety and environmental

:01:48. > :01:49.grounds was thrown out the High Court a few weeks ago.

:01:50. > :01:52.The HGV traffic has to come this way and we

:01:53. > :01:54.will do our utmost to, peacefully, and slow walk the traffic

:01:55. > :01:58.making its way to the site, to make it as difficult as possible

:01:59. > :02:01.The gas production company Third Energy has maintained,

:02:02. > :02:03.through two years of planning and legal processes, that

:02:04. > :02:06.It says fracking poses no potential dangers

:02:07. > :02:13.and intends to start preparing for production in the near future.

:02:14. > :02:14.People here say they shouldn't be called protesters,

:02:15. > :02:18.they are protectors of the environment against our

:02:19. > :02:21.political and legal system that they say has failed.

:02:22. > :02:32.In a statement, the fracking company told us, "Third Energy respects

:02:33. > :02:34.people's right to lawful and peaceful protest.

:02:35. > :02:36.We trust that those who object to our plans will also

:02:37. > :02:38.respect our rights, and the rights of Ryedale residents,

:02:39. > :02:48.to go about our business lawfully and peacefully."

:02:49. > :02:50.A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Scarborough.

:02:51. > :02:53.It comes after another man, in his late 40s, was found dead

:02:54. > :02:57.at a property in St Johns Avenue in the town yesterday evening.

:02:58. > :03:04.A 51-year-old Scarborough man is being questioned by the police.

:03:05. > :03:06.Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted two teenagers

:04:50. > :04:51.but the description might well have fitted.

:05:00. > :05:10.So for much of 2016, the Newgate Centre and next-door

:05:11. > :05:12.hotel have been taken down, bit by concrete bit.

:05:13. > :05:19.But it turns out, the demolition here is just the latest change here.

:05:20. > :05:28.The tail built in the main century student to this site. It was quite

:05:29. > :05:32.Gothic looking. It was converted into a theatre.

:05:33. > :05:35.Then, in 1980 the Swallow Hotel, which stood here, became the focus

:05:36. > :05:39.Businessman John Welch was found dead in his room,

:05:40. > :05:44.But the area is moving on from that grim past.

:05:45. > :05:46.A four-star hotel and accommodation for over 500

:05:47. > :05:49.It is a new beginning welcomed by those who know

:05:50. > :06:06.that can put a lot of the criticism of the 2009 publication and changed

:06:07. > :06:09.It has been modified since so I think we have a

:06:10. > :06:11.fine, modern building to look forward to.

:06:12. > :06:13.The new buildings should be built by 2018.
