:03:12. > :03:16.The event, seen here on previous year, has a worldwide

:03:17. > :03:27.Susan is this year singing the all-important national anthem

:03:28. > :03:29.and a rousing rendition of Rule Britannia.

:03:30. > :03:32.For years and years, I have watched things like the rugby

:03:33. > :03:35.on telly and watched people sing God Save The Queen at the beginning

:03:36. > :03:38.I've always thought, it would be lovely to do

:03:39. > :03:41.So, to be asked to do that, it is wonderful.

:04:43. > :04:45.In the Football League, Newcastle and Hartlepool

:04:46. > :04:47.But our preview begins with Middlesbrough's trip

:04:52. > :04:53.at Real Madrid, Aitor Karanka, had what it takes to

:04:54. > :04:56.Well, after Middlesbrough's promotion in May, Karanka can now

:04:57. > :04:59.pit his wits against his good friend and mentor at Old Trafford.

:05:00. > :05:01.We played last season at Old Trafford.

:05:02. > :05:12.I know how big the stadium is and how nice it is to play there.

:05:13. > :05:17.Again, it is 90 minutes, three points are important for us

:05:18. > :05:21.and at the end of the game, we will have a glass of wine,

:05:22. > :05:24.or beer and one of us will be happier than the other.

:05:25. > :05:26.Despite Boro being linked with Aston Villa striker

:05:27. > :05:29.Rudy Gestede, Karanka says he'd be more worried about the number

:05:30. > :05:32.of goals his team scores if they weren't creating chances.

:05:33. > :05:41.In the last game against Burnley, we had one clear...

:05:42. > :05:49.If we had scored that goal, it would have changed a lot.

:05:50. > :05:51.In the transfer market, the aim again is that we can

:05:52. > :05:56.have a better squad than we have at the moment.

:05:57. > :06:01.But now it is Manchester and then after that, Leicester.

:06:02. > :06:03.Sunderland, who host Liverpool on Monday,

:06:04. > :06:07.Now without Jordan Pickford can they go one better than Boro

:06:08. > :06:12.Burnley have some really good results on the board and we have to

:06:13. > :06:15.try and match that. We're getting close and we will have to play them

:06:16. > :06:19.in this, the cup and then again at in this, the cup and then again at

:06:20. > :06:22.the Stadium of light later in the season.

:06:23. > :06:24.Newcastle would love to avenge their recent controversial

:06:25. > :06:26.9-man defeat at Nottingham Forest tonight after losing

:06:27. > :06:37.We have seen a lot of teams play against us at the top of the table

:06:38. > :06:40.giving 100% in every game. Now, maybe it will be an opportunity to

:06:41. > :06:42.do something important and put more pressure on them.

:06:43. > :06:45.Hartlepool are in League Two action this evening -

:06:46. > :06:47.both they and Carlisle will be kept pretty busy over

:06:48. > :06:54.There has been some glorious Christmas week whether. Let's find

:06:55. > :06:55.out if it will continue. It has been quite a cloudy day

:06:56. > :06:59.in places across the north-east and Cumbria and it will stay that

:07:00. > :07:02.way as we head through this A few spots of drizzle in the west,

:07:03. > :07:07.a few clear spells in the east, but generally a cloudy,

:07:08. > :07:08.breezy, mild night with temperatures dropping down

:07:09. > :07:13.to around nine Celsius. So it will be quite a mild

:07:14. > :07:16.start to New Year's Eve. There will be a few spots of drizzle

:07:17. > :07:19.across parts of Northumberland, again into Cumbria as well

:07:20. > :07:21.through the afternoon. Temperatures tomorrow up to a high

:07:22. > :07:27.of around ten or 11 Celsius. Now, as we are approaching midnight,

:07:28. > :07:30.we are watching this band of rain. It is a cold front gradually sinking

:07:31. > :07:32.southwards and it does mean that for many of us,

:07:33. > :07:35.by the time we get to midnight, well, it looks like it could be

:07:36. > :07:38.quite a soggy start to 2017. But parts of Northumberland will be

:07:39. > :07:41.drier, clearer and colder. Into New Year's Day itself,

:07:42. > :08:13.it is looking dry, bright, but cold. Good evening, fog has been a problem

:08:14. > :08:18.in recent days, slow changes over the next 48 hours or so as this

:08:19. > :08:22.weather front moves south bringing rain and behind it, much cleaner,

:08:23. > :08:27.cold arctic air which will sweep that fog out of the way. The fog was

:08:28. > :08:31.dense in places, you could hardly see across the Thames in Kingston,

:08:32. > :08:35.Greater London this afternoon. It has been thickening up in the last

:08:36. > :08:36.few hours and if you are on the move in the
