:01:42. > :01:45.the clock back 24 hours to a night that wasn't without some notes for
:01:46. > :01:49.the Newcastle fans. But Newcastle safely came through it, and then the

:01:54. > :02:04.and relief for fans Back where we belong, where we
:02:05. > :02:09.should be. We have done the hardest part. We just need to enjoy it and

:03:50. > :03:51.Well there's a real feel-good factor around Newcastle right now.
:03:52. > :03:54.Much of that is, clearly, due to the fact the Magpies

:04:47. > :04:50.his comment was a power play. He needs enough power to rebuild the

:04:55. > :04:58.not a man who wants to stand still and just get survival, he wants to
:04:59. > :05:04.push on and maybe get top ten. That is his aim. He is not hanging

:07:05. > :07:10.shout from Okolie to say that there was a fire outside. I saw that it
:07:11. > :07:15.was in the yard next door. To be honest, there were two five Rangers
:07:16. > :07:20.already here. It looked as though they had it under control. It was
:07:21. > :07:22.then just so quick. That spread of smoke closed

:21:33. > :21:40.picture, of the actor, Stephen Tomkinson. But he did score four
:21:41. > :21:47.points. Not a star score but enough to take the lead. How did he find
:21:48. > :21:51.it? Daunting. Certainly there are some things I need to brush up on.
:21:52. > :21:56.One thing I want to see happening is that we get designated status. We
:21:57. > :22:06.need to be proud of the area where we live. Two down, two to go, and
:22:07. > :22:13.the conservative sneaks ahead of the Lib Dem. Remember that and intimate
:22:14. > :22:19.knowledge of the music of Chris Rea is not a requirement for the mayoral
:22:20. > :22:26.candidate, that is just for fun. We will have more mastermind tomorrow.
:22:27. > :22:28.I don't want to show off about my score, of course!
:22:29. > :22:31.Now, we've already heard all about Newcastle United's return
:22:32. > :22:34.We're going back to St James' Park now for the rest
:22:35. > :22:37.A bit quieter than last night, Jeff?
:22:38. > :22:55.I am hoping that it warns up by the time we had to Middlesbrough
:22:56. > :22:58.tomorrow for the Tees Wear derby. Last night Rafa Benitez laptop
:22:59. > :23:02.applause from the 50,000 crowd who was slept well knowing that the
:23:03. > :23:08.magpies are back in the big-time. Hartlepool are to drop out of the
:23:09. > :23:13.football league the first time in their history. And their fate is now
:23:14. > :23:19.in the hands of former Middlesbrough defender Matthew Bates. It is only
:23:20. > :23:25.32 miles between Newcastle and Hartlepool, but the gulf in mood is
:23:26. > :23:30.vast. Newcastle elated by promotion, Hartlepool two points from safety,
:23:31. > :23:34.second from bottom, two games to save its league status. And yet the
:23:35. > :23:39.caretaker manager is quietly determined. The chairman is
:23:40. > :23:44.thinking, two games to go, can we get a reaction, change the manager?
:23:45. > :23:52.And that is what you need. What a performance like this, the 2-0 home
:23:53. > :23:55.defeat to Barnet after which Dave Jones was sacked, suggests that a
:23:56. > :24:00.Herculean effort is required to avoid the drop. The stand-in manager
:24:01. > :24:05.is putting an issue. I have enjoyed it, day to day over the last couple
:24:06. > :24:11.of days, long days, no sleep and buy food, but I have enjoyed it, and the
:24:12. > :24:18.staff are alongside me, as one. That is the manager, but what is the
:24:19. > :24:24.press's take? Saturday and Sunday, they have a 10% chance, and now you
:24:25. > :24:28.have got to look at a 40-50% chance. The place, the atmosphere around the
:24:29. > :24:33.club has changed in the last 48 hours. A big cloud has been lifted
:24:34. > :24:36.from the players. The last two games are against Cheltenham and
:24:37. > :24:46.Doncaster, two famous racing pounds. Fingers crossed for a relegation
:24:47. > :24:55.avoiding double. Fingers crossed for Hartlepool and for Spennymoor, who
:24:56. > :25:03.will not be playing Workington Reds who went out to Stanley Bridge last
:25:04. > :25:07.night in extra time. I was expecting snow this morning, Paul. There were
:25:08. > :25:12.some bits and pieces of snow. I was going to say that there were four
:25:13. > :25:18.seasons in one day, but there was no sign of summer! Some wintry showers
:25:19. > :25:22.pictured off the Northumberland coast. It looks picturesque when you
:25:23. > :25:25.see them in the distance. This was Carlisle this afternoon. Sleet,
:25:26. > :25:33.snow, you name it and it was falling. Finally, the northerly wind
:25:34. > :25:38.picked up some big seas down the North East coast. This was the coast
:25:39. > :25:42.of Durham this afternoon. Tomorrow, a little bit quieter with some
:25:43. > :25:46.wintry showers around but not as many as today. More runaway of
:25:47. > :25:50.sunshine. We still have a northerly wind making it feel bitterly cold.
:25:51. > :25:58.It will feel bitterly cold again tonight with wintry showers and
:25:59. > :26:02.eastern areas, Cumbria, largely dry, clear and cold. Temperatures bounty
:26:03. > :26:06.roundabout minus one Celsius in some places, maybe some sports and
:26:07. > :26:09.Cumbria a bit colder than that. Even though it is cloudier further east
:26:10. > :26:13.with very showers, temperatures never far away from freezing. Still
:26:14. > :26:20.feeling rather, in those northerly winds. Tomorrow, still some wintry
:26:21. > :26:24.showers in eastern areas. Cumbria looks like staying mostly dry and
:26:25. > :26:28.bright through the day. Showers, becoming few and far between in the
:26:29. > :26:33.afternoon. Most places ending the day, dry and sunny but not warm, 10
:26:34. > :26:38.Celsius at best, with the wind coming from that cold, northerly
:26:39. > :26:42.direction. It will feel slightly less cold than it did if you were
:26:43. > :26:47.out and about today. That is the picture for tomorrow. High pressure
:26:48. > :26:51.out of the West. This weather system coming from the north and bringing
:26:52. > :26:55.thicker cloud and rain at times. Then high pressure builds again as
:26:56. > :26:59.we head towards the weekend. Friday and Saturday generally dry and
:27:00. > :27:02.bright and more importantly, having bright and more importantly, having
:27:03. > :27:10.lost that strong, northerly wind, a bit less cold. As we heard through
:27:11. > :27:14.Wednesday Thursday, a cloudy day on Thursday, with temperatures milder
:27:15. > :27:20.but most places seeing some rain at times. Friday and Saturday, mostly
:27:21. > :27:24.dry. Temperatures in the low teens at best. It will feel less cold than
:27:25. > :27:28.it has been recently. But still something of a nip in the air
:27:29. > :27:37.underneath that clown. That is how it is looking for the next few days.
:27:38. > :27:43.-- underneath that cloud. It is playing havoc with the wardrobe. I
:27:44. > :27:47.blame you! OK, that's all for now. Goodbye.
