:01:10. > :01:13.A 25-year-old man with Jodid, also stabbed, has now left hospital.

:01:18. > :01:22.There were children coming home from school at that time,
:01:23. > :01:29.It was a sociable time of the day, really.
:01:30. > :01:32.It was in broad daylight and I think that's what madd
:01:33. > :01:34.it even more shocking, just the amount of people that
:01:35. > :01:39.We're very saddened for the community here.
:01:40. > :01:41.We want to do our best to support the community.
:01:42. > :01:44.Our building is open, we're open, we're available to talk to `nybody
:01:45. > :01:46.that wants to talk over this, because obviously it
:01:47. > :01:51.Jodie Wilkinson's family have left tributes at the scene here.
:01:52. > :01:55.They say she was a devoted `untie and a loving sister who would do
:01:56. > :02:04.They say they've no idea whx anybody would want to take her life.
:02:05. > :02:07.Extra patrols are in the area to reassure the public.
:02:08. > :02:11.The police stress what happdned to Jodie was not a random attack.
:02:12. > :02:17.At this stage, we do not have the weapon or weapons.

:02:21. > :02:22.who was responsible, it's about potentially
:02:23. > :02:26.People coming home last night potentially covered in blood.

:02:32. > :02:48.Peter joins us from the scene now. What the latest? The update is that
:02:49. > :02:53.two more men have been arrested one aged 18 and another age 20. That
:02:54. > :02:56.brings the total in custody to five. The police are still appealhng for
:02:57. > :03:01.information because they believe anything up to half a dozen more men
:03:02. > :03:06.may have been involved in this incident. This tonight is still very
:03:07. > :03:10.much an ongoing investigation. Thanks, Peter.
:03:11. > :03:13.Figures show that in the past year growing numbers of patients have had
:03:14. > :03:16.to wait in ambulances outside the region's hospitals
:03:17. > :03:19.because there's not enough space for them on the wards.
:03:20. > :03:21.In one case an ambulance waited outside a hospital
:03:22. > :03:25.Hospitals can be fined by NHS England if they don't admit
:03:26. > :03:31.This is a knotty problem that the NHS has wrestled
:03:32. > :03:34.with across the country, and in our region, for many years.
:03:35. > :03:37.Essentially a patient is transported to a hospital,
:03:38. > :03:40.but then rather than getting onto a ward immediately
:03:41. > :03:46.A freedom of information repuest submitted to all the ambulance
:03:47. > :03:49.service trusts by the Labour Party has revealed some figures of how
:03:50. > :03:57.In the North East Ambulance Service Trust between 2013-14,
:03:58. > :04:01.1,314 patients waited for over an hour outside
:04:02. > :04:09.But by 2014-15, that figure had risen to 2,042 -
:04:10. > :04:16.There were also increases in the North West, the area
:04:17. > :04:29.A fourfold increase for the ambulance trust
:04:30. > :04:33.there to 15,000 patients in that category.
:04:34. > :04:36.And in Yorkshire as well, which covers North Yorkshird,
:04:37. > :04:37.the Ambulance Service trust also recorded
:04:38. > :04:38.a fourfold increase - 5,000 patients.

:04:57. > :04:59.on hospitals is far greater now than what it's ever been.
:05:00. > :05:01.In a separate freedom of information request,
:05:02. > :05:05.the NHS Trust that runs this hospital revealed that 413 patients
:05:06. > :05:12.had waited over the length of one hour to actually get out
:05:13. > :05:18.of the ambulance and onto the wards in the final period of 2015.
:05:19. > :05:24.The trust says that since then those waits have decreased considdrably
:05:25. > :05:28.and a special member of staff is placed to actually monitor
:05:29. > :05:30.the length of time that patients are being seen,
:05:31. > :05:38.An inquest's heard a man from West Cumbria died
:05:39. > :05:40.after being ferociously attacked by his pet dog.
:05:41. > :05:43.Stephen Hodgson suffered injuries to his neck and head at a house
:05:44. > :05:48.His teenage daughters tried to save him from the dog.
:05:49. > :05:52.The Staffordshire pitbull-cross died after police used
:05:53. > :06:00.13 people have been arrested across the North East on suspicion
:06:01. > :06:02.of trafficking people into the UK for exploitation
:06:03. > :06:06.Addresses were searched in the Cowgate area
:06:07. > :06:09.of Newcastle this morning - as well as Houghton-le-Spring

:06:49. > :06:53.like heart massage and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
:06:54. > :06:59.I enjoyed it because now I know how to save somebody's life

:07:16. > :07:17.to save a life themselves, they have the knowledge

:07:27. > :07:30.knowledgeable, that's got to be a good thing.
