:00:39. > :00:43.These ambulance staff have put their jobs

:00:44. > :00:49.You've got paramedics and you've got emergency medical technicians, EMTs.

:00:50. > :00:52.They aren't trained to do exactly what a paramedic can do.

:00:53. > :00:54.If they are sent out paramedics are promised,

:00:55. > :00:58.but nine times out of ten there's not enough staff.

:00:59. > :01:02.EMTs are left with the families screaming at them to do things.

:01:03. > :01:09.The CQC found that between December 2015 and made 2016 there were over

:01:10. > :01:12.two and a half thousand incidents where front line

:01:13. > :01:16.staff waited over one hour for paramedic back-up.

:01:17. > :01:18.These whistle-blowers say its equipment as well as staffing

:01:19. > :01:25.You're stealing things from other vehicles that are parked up.

:01:26. > :01:28.Some doors don't even open from the outside.

:01:29. > :01:32.So if there's an accident you wouldn't be able to get out.

:01:33. > :01:34.These men say they've complained to managers

:01:35. > :01:39.They say they and the public desperately need protection,

:01:40. > :01:43.that speaking out is the last resort to make that happen.

:01:44. > :01:45.In a statement the North West Ambulance Service blamed more

:01:46. > :01:48.call outs and pressure on the NHS for delays.

:01:49. > :01:51.It says equipment problems have been addressed and it's working hard

:01:52. > :01:58.It's hoped a ?3million refurbishment of Middlesbrough's railway station

:01:59. > :02:01.will help the town attract jobs and investment.

:02:02. > :02:05.Improved transport links are central to the council's

:02:06. > :02:19.Inside the station buckets are carefully positioned to catch

:02:20. > :02:25.Now the roof is to be fixed and the crumbling

:02:26. > :02:29.Network Rail's going to invest ?2.7 million over the next year,

:02:30. > :02:31.year and a half to completely replace the roof.

:02:32. > :02:34.A grade two listed building, so we need a specialist

:02:35. > :02:38.But that's in place and we're looking forward to getting started

:02:39. > :02:40.and restoring the station roof to give Middlesbrough

:02:41. > :02:45.1.3 million passengers use Middlesbrough's Railway

:02:46. > :02:50.And the improvments are seen as an essential part of the local

:02:51. > :02:53.council's business plan to regenerate the town,

:02:54. > :02:58.We've got officers coming to the centre of the town

:02:59. > :03:04.The area around the station is vitally important as well.

:03:05. > :03:07.Some of it is already refurbished, and some of it is in the process

:03:08. > :03:11.We have offered grants to people to try and kick start
