0:01:02 > 0:01:04The abuse is said to cover a 30-year period

0:01:08 > 0:01:12Cleveland Police says 355 men have now contacted them

0:01:12 > 0:01:16to say they were abused at the detention centre here.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19It says it is now offering help and support to those men

0:01:19 > 0:01:21who have come forward.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24It says this is a complex and extensive investigation

0:01:24 > 0:01:28and its enquiries are continuing.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30This solicitor says her firm is representing 80 men who say

0:01:30 > 0:01:33they were abused at Kirklevington.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39Sometimes they've not even disclosed

0:01:39 > 0:01:42the full extent of what happened to family members and other people

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Cleveland Police say two men previously arrested

0:01:45 > 0:01:47as part of its investigation

0:01:47 > 0:01:50have now been released without charge.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53But it says its enquiries are continuing and high numbers

0:01:53 > 0:01:57of people are still coming forward to report abuse.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10in a robbery at his County Durham home last night.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13He went to get some coal from his coal shed in Coronation,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16near Bishop Auckland at about 8.30,

0:02:16 > 0:02:20when the attackers hit him over the head with his coal shovel.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24He was then pinned down in his house whilst his belongings were searched.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28The victim was treated in hospital, then released.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31A young County Durham vet who left everything behind to care

0:02:31 > 0:02:34for neglected street dogs abroad is hoping to raise extra funds

0:02:51 > 0:02:54by the plight of the millions of street dogs and decided

0:02:59 > 0:03:03He had really bad skin and he had started to chew his foot off.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05He actually hated us right at the start, and wouldn't

0:03:05 > 0:03:07come close to us at all.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Janey has a local team and is joined by UK volunteer nurses and vets

0:03:10 > 0:03:12to treat the animals on the street.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14But equipment is basic.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16We don't have x-ray, we don't have ultrasound,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17we don't have gas anaesthetic.

0:03:17 > 0:03:22We have to sort of piece everything together.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Her inspirational work has led to some generous donations

0:03:25 > 0:03:26of veterinary equipment, but it is piling up

0:03:26 > 0:03:29in a Tyneside lock-up.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32It is amazing to have all this stuff.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35However, we've got it stuck in England, because it costs us

0:03:35 > 0:03:40about ?2,500 to ship it over there.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42Back in Sri Lanka, Badger is still wearing his bandage

0:03:42 > 0:03:45and has learned to trust Janey and the volunteers.
