:01:12. > :01:17.Those jobs could have been saved and there could've been a much more

:01:18. > :01:21.But the Conservative Peer, Martin Callanan, said it

:01:22. > :01:22.wasn't viable to bail out the steel industry.

:01:23. > :01:25.And he said the Government's new industrial strategy,

:01:26. > :01:39.offered a way forward for areas like Teesside.

:01:40. > :01:41.The strategy is not just based on steel, of course not,

:01:42. > :01:43.there are many other industries and areas which will

:01:44. > :01:47.?20 million has been allocated to the Local Enterprise

:01:48. > :01:51.It will be up to them to decide how they can spend it.

:01:52. > :01:53.Cumbria needs to rethink the way it bids for Government funding,

:01:54. > :01:56.according to one of the team responsible for stimulating

:01:57. > :01:59.The county was recently awarded just seven and a half percent

:02:00. > :02:05.That included proposals for 25 million to

:02:06. > :02:12.The government says the County has already received many millions

:02:13. > :02:13.of pounds for defences through other schemes.
