:00:11. > :00:17.Welcome to Wednesday's BBC Look North.

:00:17. > :00:19.Cleared of rape - the police officer and former Mr Gay UK is

:00:19. > :00:26.cleared of accusations of sexual assault.

:00:26. > :00:29.The father who may not have died if his 999 call had been -- if his

:00:29. > :00:34.family's 999 call had been dealt with better.

:00:34. > :00:41.And combine with me - we film the North's first secret supper club.

:00:41. > :00:51.Shower clouds in the distance in Bradford. More of those to come

:00:51. > :00:54.

:00:54. > :00:57.Some breaking news which is just coming in. Dozens of North

:00:57. > :01:00.Yorkshire police officers are at this very moment searching for a

:01:00. > :01:06.missing 11-year-old schoolboy on the outskirts of York. The boy, who

:01:06. > :01:10.was last seen at young -- at lunchtime, is described by the

:01:10. > :01:15.police as vulnerable. Danny joins us from the newsroom. What more can

:01:15. > :01:25.you tell us at this stage? As you say, he is an 11-year-old boy. His

:01:25. > :01:30.name is Daniel Cozens. He is described as a bomber boy -- as a

:01:30. > :01:33.vulnerable youngster. He was last seen at lunchtime wearing his

:01:33. > :01:38.school uniform. The police have initiated a massive search

:01:38. > :01:46.operation. Over 36 officers are currently looking in areas where a

:01:46. > :01:50.child might hide to see if they can locate the missing youngster.

:01:50. > :01:56.Police would like anyone with any information to come forward. Light

:01:56. > :02:01.is on their sides, it is not expected to be dark until after

:02:01. > :02:04.10pm. It is very important that Daniel is finders bet -- as quickly

:02:04. > :02:07.as possible. His safety is paramount and Yorkshire police say

:02:07. > :02:11.that, if you know anything, you should get in touch.

:02:11. > :02:19.Thank you very much. We hope to bring you an update on that story

:02:20. > :02:24.later in the programme. A 28-year-old police constable with

:02:24. > :02:31.the West Yorkshire force has been cleared by a jury in Leeds of two

:02:31. > :02:38.charges of male rape. PC Mark Carter, a former Mr Gay UK, was

:02:38. > :02:42.also acquitted of sexual assaults on men during a pre-Christmas party

:02:42. > :02:47.in 2009. Our crime correspondent has this

:02:47. > :02:50.story. For the past two weeks, Constable

:02:50. > :02:55.Mark Carter has been facing a court jury deciding on charges against

:02:55. > :03:00.him following a police pre- Christmas party in Leeds in

:03:00. > :03:03.December 2009. He has been suspended from the West Yorkshire

:03:03. > :03:09.force where he has served in Huddersfield ever since the

:03:09. > :03:13.accusations were made against him. They are related to a ledge and

:03:13. > :03:16.sexual assaults on two men in this leads restaurant and a third that

:03:16. > :03:21.the city centre nightclub. It had been alleged that, later that

:03:21. > :03:25.December night, PC Carter had twice raped a man in a bedroom at this

:03:25. > :03:30.hotel in Leeds. Today he was cleared of those rape charges and

:03:30. > :03:33.two of the three alleges that sexual assaults. PC Carter had

:03:33. > :03:38.admitted being stupidly drunk that night but denied all the

:03:38. > :03:47.accusations against him. There was loud applause and cheering from a

:03:48. > :03:51.packed public gallery as the jury acquitted PC Mark Carter of two

:03:51. > :03:56.charges of male rape and two charges of sexual assault. PC

:03:56. > :04:02.Carter broke out in floods of tears and, outside the court and, he was

:04:03. > :04:08.hugged by his supporters. PC Mark Carter, a former Mr Gay UK,

:04:08. > :04:12.said during his trial that police colleagues were aware of his clear

:04:12. > :04:18.sexuality and were supportive. He said the charges against him had

:04:18. > :04:23.been a living nightmare. He knows that legal proceedings may still

:04:23. > :04:27.not be over. Let us now go to our crime

:04:27. > :04:34.correspondent who is at Leeds Crown Court. John, is there like -- are

:04:34. > :04:38.there likely to be any more legal proceedings Mr against PC Carter?

:04:38. > :04:42.We do not know. In relation to that one charge on which the jury could

:04:42. > :04:52.not reach a verdict despite retiring for more than five-and-a-

:04:52. > :04:53.

:04:53. > :04:57.half bars, that is the one of a leg just -- of alleged sexual assault,

:04:57. > :05:04.the prosecutor was asked if she would be pursuing that in light of

:05:04. > :05:08.the other charges. She took some advice, came back to court and said

:05:08. > :05:11.she could not be certain about that. The CPS will have to make a

:05:12. > :05:21.decision within the next seven days on whether to pursue a retrial on

:05:22. > :05:23.

:05:23. > :05:26.that matter. The appearance of Mark Carter and whether he will continue

:05:26. > :05:30.with West Yorkshire Police or not cannot yet be decided. It is not

:05:30. > :05:36.yet over. Later on BBC Look North: Palmer to

:05:36. > :05:41.the people - plans to build huge wind turbines that would look more

:05:41. > :05:49.over York were unexpectedly turned down today. -- which would loom

:05:49. > :05:53.over York. The family of a man who died after

:05:53. > :05:59.his 999 call was not properly handled by a West Yorkshire

:05:59. > :06:05.Ambulance Service... Perez is -- Pervez Iqbal died after paramedics

:06:05. > :06:09.took more than quarter-of-an-hour to get him.

:06:09. > :06:11.It was found that the Kohl Handel did not support the family

:06:11. > :06:19.adequately as they try to revive him.

:06:19. > :06:23.It is a harrowing listen. He is not breathing. OK, try and come down

:06:23. > :06:27.for me. A recording of the final moments of

:06:27. > :06:32.Pervez Iqbal's life from the emergency call into the ambulance

:06:32. > :06:40.control room. His eldest son is being instructed on how to carry it

:06:40. > :06:47.CPR by a call handler. Tell him to shout out in fours. That is too

:06:47. > :06:57.fast. Listen to me, one, two, three, four.

:06:57. > :06:57.

:06:57. > :07:00.The crew can be held -- heard calling for more back-up. Do you

:07:00. > :07:10.have another pair of hands for this detail? I will let him know that

:07:10. > :07:11.

:07:11. > :07:17.you need somebody. Mr Iqbal was 59. He died at home 40

:07:17. > :07:21.minutes after the 999 call was made. It was 13 minutes of CPR. Which

:07:21. > :07:26.your brother had never done before? He had never done it before, he did

:07:26. > :07:31.not have the expedience. He still blames himself, he thinks he did

:07:31. > :07:35.not do it the right way. The ambulance service have accepted

:07:35. > :07:41.the family's criticisms of the call handler. He did not, they say,

:07:41. > :07:47.managed to call in support of way. We have done a some reflect of work

:07:47. > :07:51.with the call handler involved and some additional training has been

:07:51. > :07:56.provided to ensure that he can manage such calls better in the

:07:56. > :08:02.future. He should have sympathised towards the situation. There was no

:08:02. > :08:06.sympathising, no encouragement like, you are doing well, carry on. I

:08:06. > :08:12.could have done that call. The family say their language has

:08:12. > :08:20.been made worse by their proximity to Bradford's main ambulance

:08:20. > :08:25.station and the Royal Infirmary. The family want to make other

:08:25. > :08:29.families aware of the risks in dialling 999. It could be someone

:08:29. > :08:35.else's husband, wife, son, daughter. Tomorrow, they might go through the

:08:35. > :08:38.same thing. I would just like to stop that, hoping that they do not

:08:38. > :08:41.go through what we went through, because it is a horrible thing to

:08:41. > :08:46.live with. Our health correspondent joins us

:08:46. > :08:49.now. What has been the response? For the ambulance service had given

:08:49. > :08:56.as a statement in which they apologised to the family of Mr

:08:56. > :09:00.Iqbal for the distress caused and pass on their condolences. They

:09:00. > :09:04.have addressed some of the issues raised. They say they would like to

:09:04. > :09:13.assure members of the public that patient care is their utmost

:09:13. > :09:18.priority and the aim to -- their aim is to provide a high-quality

:09:18. > :09:23.service. The ambulance service was formed in

:09:23. > :09:28.2006 from the merger of three services. It covers a huge area. It

:09:28. > :09:31.has been marked as poor run at least three occasions. The new

:09:31. > :09:38.health care regulator, the Care Quality Commission, imposed a

:09:38. > :09:41.condition on it last year. Based at -- they said they had to get to 75%

:09:41. > :09:46.of life-threatening calls within eight minutes. In September, they

:09:46. > :09:51.said that the ambulance service had achieved that. They have actually

:09:51. > :09:54.got to 76% of those emergency calls within eight minutes. Obviously,

:09:54. > :09:58.their performance continues to be monitored.

:09:58. > :10:01.Detectives investigating a break-in Leeds city centre in the early

:10:01. > :10:05.hours of Monday have released CCTV footage of a woman that they want

:10:05. > :10:10.to talk to. The images show her being approached by two men who

:10:10. > :10:13.appear to speak to her. She walks off and is followed for a short

:10:14. > :10:19.time by the same two men. Arrive half-an-hour later, another woman

:10:19. > :10:24.was grabbed by a group of males, dragged into a doorway and raped.

:10:25. > :10:34.Today we have come across new CCTV footage that comes from the top of

:10:35. > :10:36.

:10:36. > :10:39.the town. The images are of two young men who followed by young

:10:39. > :10:46.woman quarter of an hour before the attack. We would release like -- we

:10:46. > :10:50.would really like to speak to them. The young woman the apparently

:10:50. > :10:54.followed, we believe that she may have vital information and could

:10:54. > :10:58.tell us about these young men. Police in Sheffield are appealing

:10:58. > :11:02.for witnesses after a seven-year- old girl was hit by a car. The girl

:11:02. > :11:06.was crossing Shirland Lane in Darnall on a scooter. The driver

:11:06. > :11:09.was not hurt. The police want to hear from anyone who saw the girl

:11:09. > :11:13.and the car immediately below -- before the collision.

:11:13. > :11:16.The father of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence has been giving

:11:16. > :11:19.evidence at the Houses of Parliament. If Peter Lawrence spoke

:11:19. > :11:23.to on all-party parliamentary committee looking into the rights

:11:23. > :11:26.of relatives of people who had disappeared. He would like the

:11:26. > :11:33.government to take steps to simplify bureaucracy the stock we

:11:33. > :11:36.are not at this stage where I want to be preserving that my daughter

:11:36. > :11:40.is dead. There are a lot of people in the same position. In the

:11:40. > :11:44.meantime, you have to deal with their mortgage, insurance, their

:11:44. > :11:50.bank, their car and everything else. It seems to me to be common sense

:11:50. > :11:53.that there needs to be a procedure. Leeds City Region has picked the

:11:53. > :11:57.Leeds Aire Valley site as its choice for an enterprise zone. The

:11:57. > :12:04.Government announced plans for the zones this year to cut planning red

:12:04. > :12:10.tape and so create jobs. Officials say the Aire Valley site could

:12:10. > :12:15.create almost 10,000 jobs by 2025. A new outpatients unit at

:12:15. > :12:18.Huddersfield Royal Infirmary opened today at a cost of almost 400,000.

:12:18. > :12:22.A hospital says it will save money by grouping services together under

:12:22. > :12:29.one roof. Designers in charge of redeveloping

:12:29. > :12:33.Sheffield's Park Hill flats have incorporated an infamous line of

:12:33. > :12:37.graffiti into of work of art. The graffiti, spelling out, I love you,

:12:37. > :12:44.will you marry me, was scrawled on a bridge and became famous when a

:12:44. > :12:54.member of the band The Arctic hat - - The Arctic Monkeys wore it on his

:12:54. > :12:57.T-shirt. Whatever next (XXX) x were there was a victory for people

:12:58. > :13:03.power today. It was unexpected. Plans to place a

:13:03. > :13:10.wind mast in York have been turned down and residents in Copmanthorpe

:13:10. > :13:15.were faced with five wind turbines been erected near their homes. That

:13:15. > :13:22.prospect receded this afternoon after proposals to put up a test

:13:22. > :13:26.mast were rejected. Local residents gathered to celebrate their victory.

:13:26. > :13:32.These are the fields earmarked by developers for a wind farm. The

:13:32. > :13:36.first stage in that process was the building of one mast 70 metres high.

:13:36. > :13:40.It was planning permission for that but councillor's roundly refused to

:13:40. > :13:48.give at their meeting this afternoon. They voted against it 8-

:13:48. > :13:53.Cheers of jubilation as Copmanthorpe residents celebrated a

:13:53. > :13:57.victory they did not think they would see. They packed the chamber

:13:57. > :14:03.as councillors debated whether to allow a 17 metre mast to be built

:14:03. > :14:08.near their homes. It is York Minster that dominates the skyline

:14:08. > :14:12.around here. Its tallest tower is around 70 metres high. The test

:14:12. > :14:18.mast would have been a similar height. Any others would have been

:14:18. > :14:22.a maximum of 145 metres. Totally inappropriate in the Green Belt,

:14:22. > :14:26.according to the residents. And the council has agreed.

:14:26. > :14:30.The listens to what I think was a reasonable debate from the action

:14:30. > :14:33.group and the residents. The arguments that were put forward,

:14:33. > :14:40.they have taken on board the intrusion into the green belt,

:14:40. > :14:43.which is so important. It is a great privilege to have been in the

:14:43. > :14:46.meeting to see the council's response to such a horrible thing

:14:46. > :14:56.that would have happened to the green belt. We were expecting not

:14:56. > :14:59.

:14:59. > :15:04.They were unable to convince the councillors. The rejection of the

:15:04. > :15:08.mast, left alone at turbines, is a bitter blow for them. We don't have

:15:08. > :15:12.a decision yet as to what we will do. We have to take stock of the

:15:12. > :15:17.council's decision, look at the refusal reasons, and inform people

:15:17. > :15:22.at the right time as to what we will do. So the green fields of

:15:22. > :15:28.Copmanthorpe are safe for now. But absolute security, the residents

:15:28. > :15:32.must wait for the official response. This has been a highly organised

:15:32. > :15:36.fight by Copmanthorpe residents. Nearly 600 letters of objection

:15:36. > :15:40.were written, with just 12 in support of the windfarm. They

:15:40. > :15:48.haven't said so, but the developers could appeal. It just depends

:15:48. > :15:53.whether they have the stomach for another bite. -- fight.

:15:53. > :15:59.Before 7pm, Yorkshire warm-up for their roses 2020 encounter with the

:15:59. > :16:05.old enemy at Headingley tomorrow. And they are invited but you don't

:16:05. > :16:10.know any of them. But the dinner guests breeding as much of a

:16:10. > :16:20.surprise to the hostess asked to each other. -- proving.

:16:20. > :16:25.We turned to football now. The fixture lists for next season

:16:25. > :16:30.aren't published until tomorrow. But we do know already who our

:16:30. > :16:39.teams will be facing in the Carling teams will be facing in the Carling

:16:39. > :16:41.A Super League player who crashed his car during a high-speed police

:16:41. > :16:44.chase has been jailed for four months. Castleford Tigers' Martin

:16:44. > :16:47.Aspinwall was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court, following arrest near

:16:47. > :16:49.his home in Wigan. The sentence comes just four months after the

:16:49. > :16:58.former Huddersfield and Great Britain player received a suspended

:16:58. > :17:02.eight-month jail term for punching a man in Wigan Town centre.

:17:02. > :17:05.This time tomorrow, Yorkshire will take on the old enemy Lancashire at

:17:05. > :17:08.Headingley, looking to do the double over them in the Twenty20

:17:08. > :17:13.Cup. Having started the competition

:17:13. > :17:23.Pauley, Yorkshire are back in it, thanks to tight victories including

:17:23. > :17:31.

:17:31. > :17:35.There is a bit of confidence after winning two games in a row. Ed

:17:35. > :17:41.gives us a bit of momentum, gives us a bit of a buzz. Hopefully we

:17:41. > :17:46.can take that into tomorrow night. How was it for you lot at Old

:17:46. > :17:51.Trafford? It was nail-biting. My heart was beating, but it was good

:17:51. > :17:55.at the end, jumping out of the dug- out, the lads jumping around.

:17:55. > :18:00.was a bit nerve-racking, but you try and keep a philosophical view

:18:00. > :18:06.on things, stay as calm as possible. It was quite tense, the last couple

:18:06. > :18:13.of wins, but the thing is, it is getting into the habit of winning,

:18:13. > :18:19.and hopefully the momentum is with us. Yorkshire's young guns are

:18:19. > :18:22.starting to fire. Azeem Rafiq was the one who held his nerve to see

:18:22. > :18:25.Yorkshire home at Old Trafford, he's looking forward to doing the

:18:25. > :18:31.same infront of his own crowd. you wake up in the morning, you get

:18:31. > :18:36.excited to come to the ground, you know you will get people there, the

:18:36. > :18:41.last few years, everyone has enjoyed the 2020, you can just ride

:18:41. > :18:45.on the atmosphere, the pressure of the situation. It is good playing

:18:45. > :18:50.in front of a big crowd. Often county cricketers played to

:18:50. > :18:55.galleries as empty as this one, but not tomorrow, they are hoping for a

:18:55. > :18:59.full house. They have sold 10,000 tickets. All they need now is for

:18:59. > :19:02.the whether to play ball. That is probably going to be the

:19:02. > :19:08.crucial factor. Looking at the National weather forecast, it looks

:19:08. > :19:15.like it will be a bit rainy. But Yorkshire, playing well. Hopefully

:19:15. > :19:20.they will turn a Lancashire over tomorrow.

:19:20. > :19:24.I think they seem pretty confident. You can never be that confident, it

:19:24. > :19:27.is a bit of a smash, bang, wallop sort of cricket come but we will

:19:27. > :19:31.see. The latest trendy way to eat has

:19:31. > :19:34.finally arrived in Yorkshire. Secret, or underground supper clubs

:19:34. > :19:39.have been popular in New York and London for a long time.

:19:39. > :19:43.You could actually running your own, because I want the deal is to know,

:19:43. > :19:47.you have bought some culinary equipment but I wouldn't associate

:19:47. > :19:52.with you! I have a bread-making machine. I

:19:52. > :20:00.have not opened it yet, but I'm going to have a go at it soon. You

:20:00. > :20:04.will be the first guinea pig! Actually, the secret supper-club is

:20:04. > :20:08.an interesting concept. It means that you put out a message saying,

:20:08. > :20:12.come to dinner, but you don't know who your guests are going to be. A

:20:12. > :20:18.lawyer from North Yorkshire has launched her own in a remote

:20:18. > :20:22.farmhouse near Harrogate. She enjoys cooking for people she has

:20:22. > :20:27.never met. Charlotte prepares for her dinner

:20:27. > :20:30.party by averaging elderflower in rural North Yorkshire. Tomorrow she

:20:30. > :20:35.is cooking a three-course meal in her own home for eight people she

:20:35. > :20:39.has never met. The guests have booked online. It is called a

:20:39. > :20:44.secret, or underground supper-club, a trend which developed in New York

:20:44. > :20:49.and has now arrived in Yorkshire. We do it for fun. It is all about

:20:49. > :20:54.meeting new people, it is something where I can be quite creative. I

:20:54. > :21:02.really love to meet the different people that come. Seven days a pm

:21:02. > :21:08.on a Saturday evening. -- 7:30pm. Now, the guests are here. The theme

:21:08. > :21:18.is a Midsummer's night. So here are the guests. I am from Headingley. A

:21:18. > :21:22.

:21:22. > :21:27.I'm from Halifax. We are from Leeds. I am Martin, this is Suzanne.

:21:27. > :21:32.time to sit down for starters. Charlotte calls herself the cooking

:21:32. > :21:36.very, and runs a website with tips and reviews. The guests don't pay

:21:36. > :21:40.for their meal, but make a donation to cover the costs of the

:21:40. > :21:44.ingredients. The main course is a chicken with what she called in

:21:44. > :21:48.Moonbeam salad. It was quite stressful at the beginning, because

:21:48. > :21:53.we had to deal with the elderflower fritters. People were getting lost,

:21:53. > :21:58.so that was quite stressful. But yes, it is good. Everybody seems to

:21:58. > :22:05.be having fun. This is the 4th underground restaurant I have been
