:00:22. > :00:27.chatting with some of the thousands of music fans arriving for one of
:00:27. > :00:31.the biggest events of the summer. And a festival of a different kind:

:00:46. > :00:52.
:00:52. > :00:56.be back with tomorrow's forecast A 20 year-old Sheffield man is
:00:56. > :01:01.being sent to jail for at least 16 years after killing a father of two
:01:01. > :01:06.outside a city centre marked -- nightclub with one punch. Bradley
:01:06. > :01:09.Hinkler, a boxer, claimed he was acting in self defence. His victim

:01:12. > :01:18.have mounted a campaign against the conviction, saying the charge
:01:18. > :01:22.should have been one of manslaughter, not murder.
:01:22. > :01:29.Supporters of Bradley Hinkler were out in force at Sheffield Crown
:01:29. > :01:34.Court this morning as they had been at a demonstration last week.
:01:34. > :01:37.But that didn't stop Hinkler receiving a 16 year sentence. The

:01:41. > :01:45.Supporters of the killer Bradley Hinkler say he was merely acting in
:01:46. > :01:51.self- defence in the fight outside his nightclub last December. Police
:01:51. > :01:58.say Hinkler, a trained boxer, had hit two other men if before he hit
:01:58. > :02:05.and fatally punched Thomas Gower. The media is misleading but it is a
:02:05. > :02:13.fight with people sat out there. People know the truth and haven't
:02:13. > :02:23.come forward. If they do, the appeal will going anyway. Thomas
:02:23. > :02:32.
:02:32. > :02:39.Gower's parents said in a If you are trained boxer and you
:02:39. > :02:42.are hitting people, the jury in this case decided he had that
:02:42. > :02:48.intent so he is entitled to be convicted of murder. The lesson we
:02:48. > :02:52.have to learn from this is that young men who are skilled in combat
:02:52. > :02:59.sports need to keep those skills inside the gym and not practise
:02:59. > :03:02.them on the streets. Or else, tragedies like this occur. Bradley
:03:02. > :03:07.Hinkler's support has dwindled away after hearing of his life sentence.
:03:07. > :03:17.The judge's message was clear. Thomas Gower's killing could not be
:03:17. > :03:19.
:03:19. > :03:24.John joins us now live. Will Hinkler's family take this any
:03:24. > :03:28.further? They say they will appeal, but then again most people do when
:03:29. > :03:33.there is a conviction they feel is wrong. They can only appeal on the
:03:33. > :03:37.grounds of the conviction if they can get appreciable new evidence.
:03:37. > :03:42.Police say there were a number of eyewitnesses who never came forward
:03:42. > :03:47.to give their opinion on what had happened. As regards sentencing,
:03:47. > :03:53.they may feel it was manifestly unfair. Judges have a strict
:03:53. > :04:00.sliding scale of sentencing for murder, and in this case, assault
:04:00. > :04:05.was 13 years and grievous bodily harm added, half that and you get
:04:05. > :04:08.to 16 year sentence. You reported recently on the case of Ray Eden
:04:08. > :04:13.who died after trying to stop a fight in Doncaster. He too was also
:04:13. > :04:17.punched once, smashing his head on the ground and died three days
:04:17. > :04:20.later. His attacker, Luke Jolly, another boxer, was sentenced to
:04:20. > :04:25.four years nine months for manslaughter. What other
:04:25. > :04:30.differences between that case and that of Hinckley? -- are the
:04:30. > :04:34.differences. The main one is that Jolly was prepared to plead guilty
:04:34. > :04:38.of manslaughter to spare the Eden family a trial. It was agreed by
:04:38. > :04:42.the CPS, the victim's family and the police that that would be a
:04:42. > :04:46.case. That really was a single punch. In this case, Bradley
:04:46. > :04:51.Hinkler would not admit to anything and put the victim's family through
:04:51. > :04:55.the trauma of a trial and would admit nothing. Because of that and
:04:55. > :04:59.the seriousness of the sentence he eventually got, that was the huge
:04:59. > :05:04.difference. In one case, the man admitted manslaughter and another
:05:04. > :05:12.he denied murder but was convicted of it. That is a very different
:05:12. > :05:15.Thank you. Later on look north: The sun, it says, shines on the
:05:16. > :05:23.righteous. Why Bradford has become the first cathedral in the country
:05:23. > :05:28.to have solar panels on its roof. It is arguably Yorkshire's biggest
:05:28. > :05:31.gathering of people, up to 75,000 music-lovers will gather at Bramham
:05:31. > :05:35.Park every day for the annual Leeds Festival.
:05:35. > :05:40.Fans from all over the world will come to York should watch bands
:05:40. > :05:44.such as Pulp, Elbow and The Strokes over the next three days. The night
:05:44. > :05:52.before the event, thousands have arrived and the air is thick with
:05:52. > :05:56.anticipation, I am told. Is that so, Amy? It is. There are many people
:05:56. > :06:00.here. This is the calm before the storm. We have beautiful whether
:06:00. > :06:04.this evening. You can see clearly behind me through the trees we have
:06:04. > :06:08.one of the camp sites, one of many. Thankfully the bad weather we had
:06:08. > :06:11.earlier today certainly hasn't put any festival fans off. In fact
:06:11. > :06:16.thousands of them have been arriving in droves since yesterday
:06:16. > :06:26.morning. Earlier I went behind the scenes to find out what happens
:06:26. > :06:34.
:06:34. > :06:38.The music starts in 18 hours and on the main stage there are almost
:06:38. > :06:42.ready to rock. Some of the artists are already there, and you wouldn't
:06:42. > :06:46.believe the size of these. Bus doesn't quite do it. This is
:06:46. > :06:51.something you don't often get to see, beautiful green grass that in
:06:51. > :06:55.less than 24 hours will be swarming with tens of thousands of fans, and
:06:55. > :06:59.this crash barrier is used to control them. Thousands of people
:06:59. > :07:07.have been arriving since yesterday, and they are ready to party. It is
:07:08. > :07:15.time to let your hair down, like a holiday. It is fun! We are having

:07:47. > :07:54.kraut and we make good money. was recommended to us as one of the
:07:54. > :07:58.biggest and best festivals. We have been told by other traders that we
:07:58. > :08:02.should be really busy and it should be our best one. This is our first
:08:02. > :08:12.time at Leeds so we are looking forward to it. Everyone is ready

:08:16. > :08:20.I can already hear the DJs playing in the background for the thousands

:08:24. > :08:27.here this weekend and you haven't yet bought a ticket, or if you are
:08:27. > :08:31.going to any concert over the summer months, be aware of ticket
:08:31. > :08:36.touts. They are not illegal but they cause problems, not only to
:08:36. > :08:39.the police but also the music industry and yourselves, the
:08:39. > :08:43.punters paying over inflated prices to get into these concerts and

:09:44. > :09:48.doesn't and agree to leave. Even on the festival site itself, a ticket
:09:48. > :09:57.tout is spotted trying to buy tickets from fans as they arrive.

:10:13. > :10:18.one of nine ticket touts whose trade was disrupted. It is a
:10:18. > :10:21.victory for the team but it is not easy. We try to tackle it with
:10:21. > :10:25.street trading legislation which prohibits people trading on the
:10:26. > :10:30.highway, but also, there are restrictions in place as to what
:10:30. > :10:36.people can do on site. If they are on site we can do with them that

:12:13. > :12:19.the last couple of hours we have heard that the second day of the
