:00:04. > :00:06.North. Our top story tonight - waging war on anti-social behaviour.

:00:06. > :00:09.Doncaster's mayor says he's personally ordered neighbourhood

:00:10. > :00:14.teams be available 21 hours out of 24 seven days a week on the town's

:00:14. > :00:17.streets. Also tonight - a month to the day since their marriage. The

:00:17. > :00:21.funerals are held of Halifax couple who died on their honeymoon in the

:00:21. > :00:31.Maldives. And close but not close enough. Jessica Ennis misses out on

:00:31. > :00:33.

:00:33. > :00:43.gold at the world athletics He's back! It was an overcast seen

:00:43. > :00:48.

:00:48. > :00:52.at Walton Hall. Will tomorrow be Welcome to Look North. Tonight: The

:00:52. > :00:55.pledge by Doncaster's mayor: I'll wage war on anti-social behaviour.

:00:55. > :00:58.He's personally ordered his so- called neighbourhood teams be

:00:58. > :01:06.available 21 hours out of 24, seven days a week - a first in this

:01:06. > :01:10.country - so Peter Davies claims. The 22 members of the council team

:01:10. > :01:17.have their work cut out. Last year in Doncaster alone there were

:01:17. > :01:22.24,462 anti-social incidents. That however is a seven per cent drop on

:01:22. > :01:24.the previous year. In a moment we will be asking if Mayor Davies has

:01:24. > :01:34.got his spending priorities right. First Emma Blackburn spent Friday

:01:34. > :01:40.

:01:40. > :01:48.night out in Doncaster with the new look neighbourhood team. We are

:01:48. > :01:53.going to be doing phone-calls. are smuggling cannabis in here. You

:01:53. > :01:56.are not allowed to drink on the street. This is anti-social

:01:56. > :02:01.behaviour in Doncaster, and this is what the new team and council

:02:01. > :02:04.workers and police are working with every day and every night. It is

:02:05. > :02:09.Friday evening and these 15-year- olds have been caught with a cold.

:02:09. > :02:14.Their names and addresses are taken down. We will be taking you back

:02:14. > :02:21.then. The boy who supplied the beer is taken home. It is about

:02:21. > :02:25.diverting individuals. There is a range of penalties that we would

:02:25. > :02:29.look to gather evidence for, but on the simpler side of things, it

:02:29. > :02:35.would be about advice and intervention did try and prevent an

:02:35. > :02:41.escalation of pager. There are 30 police and council officers on the

:02:41. > :02:45.unit. They patrol the streets and respond to calls from the public

:02:45. > :02:50.from a 10 to 5:00am the next morning. They claim they can act

:02:50. > :02:56.immediately on anti-social behaviour 24 hours a day, twists --

:02:56. > :03:00.seven days a week. Rupal weight -- we get moved away from everywhere.

:03:00. > :03:08.Doncaster believes that it is the first game in the country. They are

:03:09. > :03:15.redirecting existing council money to fund a 650,000 scheme. I think

:03:15. > :03:19.it is a damn good idea. I don't care what the Mounties. Any anti-

:03:19. > :03:25.social behaviour is not good. have been blighted by it. I have

:03:25. > :03:30.been left feeling afraid. Definitely. We need something. It

:03:30. > :03:37.has gone too far. It is frightening. The team have been working for

:03:38. > :03:42.three weeks now, and they are said continue indefinitely. Let's joint

:03:42. > :03:47.Peter Davis outside his office at council house. Is this new money

:03:47. > :03:52.that you are putting in, or have you just switched resources there?

:03:52. > :03:57.It is not new money. We are using money smarter. We are cleverer in

:03:57. > :04:02.the use of money. We don't waste money in Doncaster any more. We are

:04:02. > :04:06.working with our Partners in the police force to create a bespoke

:04:06. > :04:11.service for the people of Doncaster who have had their lives blighted

:04:11. > :04:17.by anti-social behaviour. We are spending 650,000 but we spend our

:04:17. > :04:21.money last year. We are using the money better. Some might argue that

:04:21. > :04:26.you are cutting youth services, the provision of youth clubs, even a

:04:27. > :04:32.library, which could keep the use of the streets. It is that wise?

:04:32. > :04:36.are not doing that. First of all, we are not cutting used -- youth

:04:36. > :04:43.services. We have kept a project open, and we are opening another

:04:43. > :04:50.one on the east of the town. We have put some more money in. There

:04:50. > :04:55.are no cuts in essential services. We have been fed the usual nonsense

:04:55. > :05:00.from the protesters. We are keeping the library is open but not at the

:05:00. > :05:09.cost of before. We are 20 use money wisely to keep services going.

:05:09. > :05:15.you really England's only 21 out of 24 hour every -- intervention

:05:15. > :05:19.scheme? You are guaranteeing to be there. Absolutely. Anti-social

:05:19. > :05:22.behaviour is a curse that lasts all day for some people. It is vitally

:05:22. > :05:27.important that they can get in touch with the council and address

:05:27. > :05:37.the problem. Thank you very much for talking to us. We can see one

:05:37. > :05:42.

:05:42. > :05:45.The funerals of the young couple killed in a quad bike accident in

:05:45. > :05:48.the Maldives took place in Halifax today. Jonathan and Emma Gray were

:05:48. > :05:51.on their honeymoon when they died... They'd been married just one week,

:05:51. > :05:54.and left behind a six month old baby boy called Jake. Joe Inwood

:05:54. > :05:57.has been speaking to their friends and families ahead of today's

:05:57. > :06:03.service. In life, they were inseparable. Described as the

:06:03. > :06:08.perfect couple. J and Anna had been managed -- married one week when

:06:08. > :06:15.tragedy struck on their honeymoon. A late night quad bike crash which

:06:15. > :06:20.took both their lives. Family and friends gathered to celebrate their

:06:20. > :06:27.lies. They were much loved. They were the centre. Their house was

:06:27. > :06:31.when everything happened. With the met them for five minutes or body

:06:31. > :06:38.love them as much as we had, you know of them. No matter how long

:06:38. > :06:42.you know them,... Those goodbyes were not just be about remembrance.

:06:42. > :06:47.I don't like using the word funeral. He will be a massive celebration of

:06:47. > :06:50.their lives, and be what the Church to be filled with colour. Everyone

:06:50. > :06:55.should be dressed in colours. It should be a celebration, because

:06:55. > :07:04.they had a wonderful time together. That is exactly what their friends

:07:04. > :07:10.intended to give them. We have some other good news today, that two

:07:10. > :07:15.members of our group, there are babies on the way. We welcomed

:07:15. > :07:19.another one due at lunchtime. There is that joy today, and Jay and and

:07:19. > :07:26.that, nobody has a bad memory of them. If they were here, they would

:07:26. > :07:36.be giving us a good send-off. They deserve no less. Part of that sent

:07:36. > :07:43.

:07:43. > :07:50.off, a tribute from his mum. Words issued at a ceremony held in

:07:50. > :07:54.private at the family's request. A chance for back -- friends, family

:07:54. > :08:04.and colleagues to remember, to celebrate and to say one final

:08:04. > :08:13.

:08:14. > :08:23.Making the most of what's left behind - recycling the tents from

:08:24. > :08:25.

:08:25. > :08:29.Six residential homes have been earmarked for closure, but it has

:08:29. > :08:35.been recommended that three others should be kept in place. A decision

:08:35. > :08:41.will be made next month. For months, they have been campaigning. Today,

:08:41. > :08:45.their hard work has been rewarded. Plans to close three residential

:08:45. > :08:50.homes have been put on hold until new facilities could be built in

:08:50. > :08:53.these areas while the committee takes over. Contents of report this

:08:53. > :08:57.morning looking to save millions of pounds confirmed that three other

:08:57. > :09:05.homes will close, and day-care facilities would shut their doors

:09:05. > :09:08.if the council votes through the proposal. This was not a process we

:09:09. > :09:14.sat down with glee and happiness. We did this with a have -- heavy

:09:14. > :09:17.heart. We are always looking to get the best solution for local areas,

:09:17. > :09:26.and the people that live there. Through the three-month

:09:26. > :09:31.consultation, there has been a war of words. Campaigners say the

:09:31. > :09:41.council simply won't this thing, but today, they say their fears

:09:41. > :09:45.have been alleviated. We have got what we campaign.. Today's

:09:45. > :09:50.announcement has been relieved to residents, who feared that they

:09:50. > :09:53.would lose their homes. The fact that still remained that these are

:09:53. > :09:57.people's homes, and they are being told that you are going to be moved

:09:57. > :10:01.out. Whether it is tomorrow or in a year's time, they are still going

:10:01. > :10:06.to get approved, and that is very upsetting for the most vulnerable

:10:06. > :10:15.people in the City. At least we have time to develop some sort of

:10:15. > :10:25.programme and project to keep us very vital amenity in our community.

:10:25. > :10:26.

:10:26. > :10:29.It goes to the council executive Police are continuing

:10:29. > :10:31.investigations in Bridlington after an accident on one of the town's

:10:31. > :10:34.seafront rides which injured a South Yorkshire woman. She and her

:10:34. > :10:37.granddaughter remain in hospital after the incident on the Jungle

:10:37. > :10:40.River ride on Sunday. The grandmother was taken to Hull Royal

:10:40. > :10:43.Infirmary, while the girl was taken to Castle Hill Hospital with cuts

:10:43. > :10:45.to her legs. An investigation into the accident has been launched by

:10:45. > :10:48.police and the Health and Safety Executive. Sheffield United

:10:48. > :10:51.footballer Ched Evans, seen here at a previous court appearance, has

:10:51. > :10:54.been at a Crown Court in North Wales this morning, charged with

:10:54. > :11:01.rape. The alleged incident took place at a hotel near Rhyl. He and

:11:01. > :11:03.another man were bailed until October. Civilian staff at

:11:03. > :11:05.Nottinghamshire Police are on strike today in a dispute over

:11:05. > :11:08.redundancies. Police Community Support Officers, 999 control room

:11:08. > :11:18.staff and forensic experts are all involved in the industrial action.

:11:18. > :11:23.

:11:23. > :11:27.The force is aiming to save 45 million by 2015. Our concern about

:11:27. > :11:34.the procedure is that they would not consult with Unison, and Bath -

:11:34. > :11:39.up by default... The public will notice a difference to service, and

:11:39. > :11:43.clearly when people go on strike, there will be services affected. It

:11:43. > :11:53.could pull functions will be staff, and we will ensure that people are

:11:53. > :11:54.

:11:54. > :11:56.kept safe. The Leeds festival is over and the music lovers have left

:11:56. > :11:59.for another year.... But it seems they haven't taken everything with

:11:59. > :12:02.them. In fact they've taken very little - leaving thousands of

:12:02. > :12:11.tonnes of rubbish- much of it newly purchased camping equipment. So

:12:11. > :12:16.what happens to it all now? Spencer Stokes has been finding out. It

:12:16. > :12:22.looks more like a deserted refugee camp rather than a site of a major

:12:22. > :12:27.music events. When the Leeds festival ends, huge numbers of

:12:27. > :12:32.festival -- Festival goers simply leave their stuff for someone else

:12:32. > :12:39.to sort out. Everything you would need for a camping trip simply

:12:39. > :12:49.abandoned. Everything you see, right down to the last 10 Beck, has

:12:49. > :12:53.to be cleared away. The next event here is the Bramham Horse trials.

:12:53. > :12:56.Making the site safe are voluntary organisations, who have been told

:12:56. > :13:03.they can keep the deal for themselves. Everything we take our

:13:03. > :13:13.way, it cost us nothing. We can use it for our youth of today. Our

:13:13. > :13:13.

:13:13. > :13:20.Many have been deliberately vandalised by camper arenas. -- by

:13:20. > :13:26.campers. You can see that there is toilet roll. We cannot touch that

:13:26. > :13:32.for health and safety reasons. Someone has urinated in there.

:13:32. > :13:38.There are spare poles. You name it, it is in here. Uncontaminated food

:13:38. > :13:46.can be cleared off the site, and later -- the charity is stocking up

:13:46. > :13:51.their supplies. It is shocking. On the other hand, we will benefit.

:13:52. > :13:57.The homeless and families in need will get a food parcel from this.

:13:57. > :14:01.It is a great opportunity, but it is shocking. It is expected to take

:14:01. > :14:11.four months to clear the site following a four-day festival. Then

:14:11. > :14:18.

:14:18. > :14:24.the campers will rise again with With us is Charlie Brown from the -

:14:24. > :14:29.- Clare Brown from the charity Everything Is Possible.

:14:29. > :14:33.Tell me you have been home? You have still got your wellies on.

:14:33. > :14:37.haven't. But I see you have a shower. I would have brought a tell

:14:37. > :14:42.if I had known! We have been there since Wednesday for the set up. We

:14:42. > :14:46.have had all are volunteers, about 40 volunteers, working through the

:14:46. > :14:51.festival. And then all day yesterday and today salvaging to

:14:52. > :14:55.take the reusable dear. What shocked me was that some of the

:14:55. > :14:59.Tens that were pursed -- perfectly usable had been vandalised. Yes, it

:15:00. > :15:03.is so frustrating. People have bought these tents, use them just

:15:03. > :15:07.do the summer, and we could have passed them on to people who need

:15:07. > :15:11.them, but unfortunate some people spoil them and they are no good to

:15:11. > :15:17.anyone. What do you think it says about us as a society, for people

:15:17. > :15:22.to leave all this waste? It is sad that we are so disposable now. Some

:15:22. > :15:27.of the tents were cheap from Tesco, but some of them were 250 tents,

:15:27. > :15:31.and really good stuff. If my kids had come home from that festival

:15:32. > :15:36.without their tent, they would have been in such trouble. Yes, but some

:15:36. > :15:40.people will really benefit from such great equipment. It is

:15:41. > :15:44.unbelievable. So who are you helping? First of all, we have had

:15:44. > :15:47.groups at the Festival doing their own salvaging. We had our

:15:47. > :15:53.volunteers who have been taking their equipment, but also other

:15:53. > :15:57.community groups who we invited. Some of them are Scout groups, and

:15:57. > :16:03.a lot of others that we invited. Local groups that came to our sale

:16:03. > :16:08.last year. Every year we have a community exchange sale at the end,

:16:08. > :16:12.to pass on equipment to greet us. We make a nominal charge, but

:16:12. > :16:16.really it is to try and get rid of all the equipment that we get. A

:16:16. > :16:20.lot of those groups that come this year, next year will come on site

:16:20. > :16:25.and take stuff for free. Even when we have left at the end of today's

:16:25. > :16:32.salvaging, there is so much stuff left. It is a great idea. Waste not

:16:32. > :16:42.want not, is what my granny used to say. Exactly. Everything is on your

:16:42. > :16:44.

:16:44. > :16:48.Web site as well? Yes, and our sale is going on at all day tomorrow.

:16:48. > :16:54.All the details are on our website. Before 7pm: A budding success -

:16:54. > :16:58.we'll unearth a fabulous story of keen gardeners in Leeds.

:16:58. > :17:08.And, Michael Jackson eat your heart out. Look North's smoothest mover

:17:08. > :17:14.

:17:14. > :17:18.It's been a big year for Wakefield. A multi-million pound investment

:17:18. > :17:21.has helped transform the city. The Hepworth Art Gallery gave Wakefield

:17:21. > :17:24.national media coverage when it opened three months ago. And

:17:24. > :17:30.there's a new shopping complex. So who, if anyone, is benefitting?

:17:30. > :17:34.Here's Ian White. The biggest art gallery to be built

:17:34. > :17:37.in Britain for 10 years, the Hepworth Art Gallery, has put

:17:37. > :17:41.Wakefield on the map. More than 200,000 people have passed through

:17:41. > :17:45.its doors in the first three months. Trinity Bourke has welcomed more

:17:45. > :17:50.than one million shoppers. One council leader says it is money

:17:50. > :17:54.well invested. Yes, the truth is we are going through a recession so

:17:54. > :17:57.times are tough, both for local people and for local traders. But I

:17:57. > :18:00.am confident that the private sector is invested in this city, we

:18:00. > :18:05.have invested in this city, and that investment will pay dividends

:18:05. > :18:09.in the future. Richard Kendall has been an estate agent in Wakefield

:18:09. > :18:12.for 42 years. He says he is yet to see any benefit from the millions

:18:12. > :18:17.invested. I have got to be optimistic because of my job, but I

:18:17. > :18:21.think we have done far too much in too short a time at the moment.

:18:21. > :18:25.Let's keep going and see what happens. I want to see Wakefield

:18:25. > :18:29.thriving. Hotelier's are also trying to be optimistic. That this

:18:30. > :18:34.hotel, they notice more guests coming to see the attractions.

:18:34. > :18:38.There has definitely been more interest in the city. We have had

:18:38. > :18:41.comment cards with people saying they are going to the gallery.

:18:41. > :18:44.Newmarket has struggled in the shadow of construction work to

:18:45. > :18:49.build Trinity war. Now traders and shoppers they say they think things

:18:49. > :18:57.are much better now. It was 18 months behind schedule. That was

:18:57. > :19:01.difficult. We suffered through the hardships of rebuilding Trinity wok,

:19:01. > :19:05.but now that it is open, extra foot flow is coming in and people are

:19:05. > :19:08.starting to come back to the market again. The real test will come in

:19:08. > :19:11.the new year. Experts will keep a close eye on how businesses there

:19:11. > :19:16.over the winter. Many hope that this will be the start of better

:19:16. > :19:22.times to come for the city. Sport now, and news of Jessica

:19:22. > :19:25.Ennis in the Heptathlon at the World Championships in South Korea.

:19:25. > :19:29.Jess was trying to become the first British athlete ever to defend a

:19:29. > :19:33.World Championship title. She went into the final discipline, the 800

:19:33. > :19:36.metres, needing to beat the first placed Russian by nine seconds.

:19:36. > :19:40.Despite a brave run from the front, she couldn't manage it. She

:19:40. > :19:46.finished second overall. Our collegues from BBC Sport caught up

:19:46. > :19:51.with her. Mixed emotions. I really wanted to

:19:51. > :19:56.win that gold medal, but the javelin let me down. I have settled

:19:56. > :19:59.for a silver medal, and that is not too bad at the end of the day.

:19:59. > :20:04.is better than the Berlin call, so you have got to take some positives

:20:04. > :20:09.from that. Yes, it was a strong performers, and it was one event

:20:09. > :20:16.that I am a poor in net. It was enough for her to take the gold

:20:16. > :20:19.medal. I know she would have been going for gold. Well, you heard

:20:19. > :20:25.Jess saying it was her javelin that let her down. The man responsible

:20:25. > :20:30.for coaching her on that particular discipline is Mick Hill.

:20:30. > :20:35.I feel like the bad guy here! Her competitor through a fantastic

:20:35. > :20:39.javelin, which meant Jess had to throw her lifetime best. I think

:20:39. > :20:44.she just tried too hard. She was going too fast, getting too close

:20:44. > :20:48.to the line, and she bailed out. She threw 45 metres warming up,

:20:48. > :20:52.apparently. There is a great expectation on her. Do you think

:20:52. > :20:56.that she feels that pressure? expect her to do well because she

:20:56. > :20:59.always does well. As she is brilliant. She is brilliant. That

:20:59. > :21:03.is probably the first time she has not pulled it out of the back. I

:21:04. > :21:07.was as surprised as anyone because I was out in Korea for 10 days and

:21:07. > :21:13.she was in magnificent shape. seemed unbeatable for so long.

:21:13. > :21:18.These athletes are not robots, are they? Exactly, that's why we love

:21:18. > :21:22.sport. They are people. Do you think this will help her focus and

:21:22. > :21:28.re-energised? Undoubtedly, now she knows there are girls out there

:21:28. > :21:32.that can beat her. Usually these girls for by the wayside and Jess

:21:32. > :21:36.is usually so far ahead after the two events at the beginning that

:21:36. > :21:40.she can just enjoy it. We should say that she came second with 20

:21:40. > :21:44.points more than when she won the title last time. The we have got to
