:00:16. > :00:20.Yorkshire bar owner facing a 73,000 electricity bill even

:00:20. > :00:26.though British Gas admits its at fault. Undercover care. The

:00:26. > :00:36.daughter who secretly paid for private care in an NHS hospital,

:00:36. > :00:40.

:00:40. > :00:46.because she feared that staff could And the band from Bradford. Join me

:00:46. > :00:56.for the weather. These are the sunny skies over whether the

:00:56. > :01:10.

:01:10. > :01:14.The what's the biggest electricity bill that you have ever had? One

:01:14. > :01:19.business is being possibly forced out of business after receiving a

:01:19. > :01:29.bill of 73,000. British Gas have admitted that the huge bill is

:01:29. > :01:32.

:01:32. > :01:38.their fault after overcharging -- I wonder how many times you have

:01:39. > :01:44.gone to the door to collect your post, open a letter from a utility

:01:44. > :01:49.company and taken a big gasp when you have read the Bill. The company

:01:49. > :01:53.here almost -- the couple here almost fell to the floor when they

:01:53. > :02:00.receive their bill from British Gas. Shaun Coleman has been running this

:02:00. > :02:05.business for 11 years. In 2006, he and his wife Catherine decided to

:02:05. > :02:10.build an extension to the bar. At the time, a new electricity meter

:02:10. > :02:20.was installed. It has been read eight times and the couple have

:02:20. > :02:36.

:02:36. > :02:44.never missed a payment. But then As you can see, this is the first

:02:44. > :02:51.bill we have received. That was then amended from 70,000 to

:02:51. > :02:55.58,000. We could not believe it. We have paid our bills every time,

:02:55. > :03:02.and just to have this debt on our doorstep, totally out of the blue,

:03:02. > :03:06.is amazing. We cannot sleep, we were worried anyway about how to

:03:06. > :03:11.deal with things in the recession. To have that put on top of us, it

:03:11. > :03:16.is a step too far, really. By an quite angry that they are allowed

:03:16. > :03:24.to operate in such a way. Shaun Coleman says that despite phone

:03:24. > :03:31.calls, he is no longer -- he is not moving forward. They have made a

:03:31. > :03:35.mistake over five years. It would be a courtesy to allow us the same

:03:35. > :03:42.time to pay it back. In the meantime, it is business as usual

:03:42. > :03:47.for the time being. No wonder Sean Coleman is confused. When they

:03:47. > :03:57.first released -- receive the paperwork, it was a bill of 72,000.

:03:57. > :04:08.

:04:08. > :04:13.58,000. The postman has delivered a bill today the sick -- asking for

:04:13. > :04:22.a new meter reading. This afternoon, we have heard from British Gas, who

:04:22. > :04:31.released a brief statement. They say they are investigating the

:04:31. > :04:35.situation fully, and hope to come two a settlement. We have been

:04:35. > :04:41.hearing a lot of stories from our Dewars, and if there's something

:04:41. > :04:46.that you want to share with us, then get in touch. We will be

:04:46. > :04:51.giving the details of how to get in touch in a moment, but let's cut

:04:51. > :04:58.through the confusion. Audrey Gallacher of Consumer Focus is now

:04:58. > :05:07.joining us from London. What rights do Sean and Catherine Coleman have?

:05:07. > :05:14.It was first their fault in the first place. They have no

:05:14. > :05:21.protection. It is different if you are a domestic user. In cannot

:05:21. > :05:28.receive back billing for more than the year. You can be back build for

:05:28. > :05:33.up to six years if you are company, and that is not right. British Gas

:05:33. > :05:43.say they are sorry. That seems to be good news. But it is a

:05:43. > :05:43.

:05:43. > :05:52.commercial arrangement, so British Gas could get it out over a phased

:05:52. > :05:57.basis. That is a double whammy. When they took find they are at

:05:57. > :06:03.fault, they are not being flexible with the payments, and I am glad to

:06:03. > :06:13.see the customers are negotiating it, and British Gas should

:06:13. > :06:14.

:06:14. > :06:20.understand that. Do you find that this is widespread? It was very

:06:20. > :06:28.widespread before, and that's why the rules came in to protect

:06:28. > :06:38.domestic consumers. That was to give them protection from shock

:06:38. > :06:44.

:06:44. > :06:53.bills, and in centre buys companies It is important that we get this

:06:53. > :06:59.sorted out. There has been some work with the industry and the

:06:59. > :07:09.regulator to put protections in, and to get the company is

:07:09. > :07:31.

:07:31. > :07:38.incentives. Have you had a big I know a lot of you have been

:07:38. > :07:46.contacting Harry. We were just looking, and we are up to 39

:07:46. > :07:51.comments on the Facebook page alone. Next tonight, the Bradford Borlin

:07:51. > :07:55.hooked hired a private carers to the car after her mother in an NHS

:07:55. > :08:04.hospital. She felt that she was not getting the attention she needed.

:08:04. > :08:08.Annette Townend acted out of desperation after she was told her

:08:08. > :08:18.mother would be dead within days if something wasn't done. She had

:08:18. > :08:21.

:08:21. > :08:25.problems with her Olivia -- liver. Hello, mum. Sheila is getting the

:08:25. > :08:30.sort of private care that her daughter thinks is necessary.

:08:30. > :08:35.Annette says that this is a world away from the cower that she was

:08:35. > :08:41.getting in Bradford Royal Infirmary. I got a telephone call to say that

:08:41. > :08:45.you would be dead in a few days. She was so weak, it was obvious

:08:46. > :08:53.need -- she needed feeding. felt that that had not been done by

:08:53. > :09:01.the nursing staff? There were 28 old people on that board, and there

:09:01. > :09:07.was no way that she could have individual attention. For invoices

:09:07. > :09:14.showed the amount of power was that private nurses were employed. When

:09:14. > :09:17.challenged, she said that they were family members. It had to be right,

:09:18. > :09:24.or which -- or she would be dead now. I think it is absolutely

:09:24. > :09:32.appalling, and I did ask, what about the other patients who do not

:09:32. > :09:35.have close family relatives? Bradford Hospitals say they have an

:09:35. > :09:43.excellent record for quality of care. They are consistently rated

:09:43. > :09:47.as one of the top hospitals in the country. There was a report by the

:09:47. > :09:52.Care Quality Commission that said it found the hospital to be meeting

:09:52. > :10:02.the requirements, reinforcing the high priority they place on

:10:02. > :10:08.

:10:08. > :10:18.patients. Her family says that Sheila is bed-bound and incontinent.

:10:18. > :10:19.

:10:19. > :10:27.That is a story that you might want to comment on. Later on Look

:10:27. > :10:34.North... She is waiting for Olympic gold. The boxer who has a perfect

:10:34. > :10:43.set up for London 2012. First, let's look at more of the day's

:10:43. > :10:47.news. We have learned that the M1 motorway is closed between

:10:47. > :10:55.junctions 39 and for two after an accident involving a car and a

:10:55. > :11:02.lorry. The drivers are both vehicles are seriously injured.

:11:02. > :11:07.There will be more on that in our later bulletin. The former Leeds

:11:08. > :11:16.United director Simon Morris has been jailed for 18 months. The 34-

:11:16. > :11:24.year-old has been charged by threatening -- after threatening a

:11:24. > :11:31.work rival. Mr Ashworth also got a sentence but both are planning to

:11:31. > :11:40.appeal. One in 10 A-level students say that higher fees have put them

:11:40. > :11:50.off going to university. The findings come as you Cass, -- beat

:11:50. > :11:52.

:11:52. > :11:58.You can see more on the rising cost of university fees on the programme

:11:58. > :12:06.tonight at 7:30pm. This is a terrible story. A Sheffield charity

:12:06. > :12:11.says that donations valuable to them have been stolen from

:12:11. > :12:16.doorsteps over the past two months. Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice

:12:17. > :12:25.collects bags of goods from people's homes. Lately, unbranded

:12:25. > :12:27.fans have been spotted taking the A group of West Yorkshire monks

:12:27. > :12:30.raised more than 50,000 this weekend in an auction of their

:12:30. > :12:33.brotherhood's antique furniture. The Community of the Resurrection

:12:33. > :12:38.monastery in Mirfield is trying to raise funds for a 2 million pound

:12:38. > :12:41.revamp of their monastery and church.

:12:41. > :12:47.A rare 18th century silver wine cooler has been saved by temple

:12:47. > :12:49.Newsam House. The cooler which was commissioned by The Earl of

:12:49. > :12:59.Stafford in 1706 is the largest of three surviving ambassadorial

:12:59. > :13:00.

:13:00. > :13:03.coolers in the UK measuring 129 centimetres and weighing 70 kilos.

:13:03. > :13:09.The museum secured 2 million worth of grants to stop it going to a

:13:09. > :13:13.foreign buyer. Now the last flying vulcan bomber

:13:13. > :13:17.needs half a million pounds to get it off the ground again next year.

:13:17. > :13:21.The plane is now grounded for the winter after a number of faults led

:13:21. > :13:24.to it missing a series of airshows this summer. But it's hoped enough

:13:24. > :13:33.money can be raised to get the aircraft fit for the Queen's

:13:33. > :13:40.Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year. Dan Johnson has this report.

:13:40. > :13:44.Be a shade, the sound, the spectacle. -- the shape. The Vulcan

:13:44. > :13:52.bomber at an air show this summer, but then, things took a turn for

:13:52. > :13:57.the worst. Over two busy weekends, two separate falls occurred and we

:13:57. > :14:04.had to miss 10 displays at the end of the year. The costs run much

:14:04. > :14:07.deeper, so the begging bowl is out again. We have lost about 100,000

:14:07. > :14:13.from last year shows, so we are fighting for our life in terms of

:14:13. > :14:17.funding. Britain's revolutionary bomber goes into service with the

:14:17. > :14:27.RAF. The money shortages and the only East threat that they have

:14:27. > :14:31.faced, they were always there when a Russian attack was to come.

:14:31. > :14:41.was 11 years between the first flight of the Lancaster and the

:14:42. > :14:46.first flight of the Vulcan bomber. Tours of the Brotherhood airshow

:14:46. > :14:51.give people the chance to have a look. I have never seen it before.

:14:51. > :14:55.It is huge, how the devil does it get off the ground? It is the

:14:55. > :15:00.pinnacle of technology from a bygone era, and preparation for the

:15:00. > :15:04.end of the world, essentially. year, the aircraft is due to take

:15:04. > :15:08.part in the diamond jubilee celebrations, but it needs an

:15:08. > :15:12.expensive one to serve as first. Things will be tough, the economic

:15:12. > :15:17.climate is tough, we are fighting for our life, but I am sure

:15:17. > :15:19.everyone will rally around. A few months' worth of TLC and a few

:15:19. > :15:27.million pounds should see the Vulcan bomber take to the skies

:15:27. > :15:30.again next year. Great pictures of the Vulcan bomber

:15:30. > :15:33.there. Before seven o'clock. Controversy,

:15:33. > :15:40.a hat-trick from a hot striker and an eight-goal thriller. We'll bring

:15:40. > :15:43.you the football round-up in a minute.

:15:43. > :15:53.And the band from Bradford mixing with Britney, Snoop and the leading

:15:53. > :16:01.

:16:01. > :16:10.Here's Tanya now with the weekend's sport and news of a newly crowned

:16:10. > :16:18.boxing champion. We have been discussing her outfit.

:16:18. > :16:23.Just stop it! I have a go at you as! -- I have a go at your outfit!

:16:23. > :16:26.Lovely to have the back! Leeds boxer Nikki Adams made

:16:26. > :16:29.another bit of history this weekend. She became the first British woman

:16:29. > :16:33.to win a major boxing title with victory at the European

:16:33. > :16:37.Championships. Five years ago at the same event, she was the first

:16:37. > :16:44.to win a medal of any sort when she got the silver. She beat Sarah

:16:44. > :16:48.Ourahmoune of France 15-8 in the flyweight final. She is here with

:16:49. > :16:54.her winning medal, how good to have the gold medal around a knack!

:16:54. > :16:58.it is a great feeling. Does it feel like a long time ago since you one

:16:58. > :17:02.that silver medal? Yes, the last championships and missed out

:17:02. > :17:07.because of injury, City comeback this strongly and win the gold

:17:07. > :17:12.medal, it has been greater. You had lost for a couple of rounds. Yes,

:17:12. > :17:16.and the coach was sweating a bit in the corner, but I pulled it back.

:17:16. > :17:20.You showed aggression, that is an understatement, you definitely

:17:20. > :17:25.handle did in the last few rounds, was it a relief when they held up

:17:25. > :17:29.your hand? If yes, because I get a ranking as well which will help

:17:29. > :17:34.meet going to us the qualifiers as well. What about standing at the

:17:34. > :17:44.top of the podium with the gold medal, we thinking ahead to London?

:17:44. > :17:45.

:17:45. > :17:48.Slightly, I was. I was thinking about it. You worry cool customer!

:17:48. > :17:53.Does is make a difference to have got a gold medal at a major

:17:53. > :17:57.championship, does it help confidence? Yes, definitely, I can

:17:57. > :18:00.say I am number one in Europe and I have ranking points as well which

:18:00. > :18:04.is very important for the qualifiers next year and it has

:18:04. > :18:09.given me lots of confidence. I did what I said I was going to go out

:18:09. > :18:14.and do and get that gold medal. Welsh championships are coming up

:18:14. > :18:20.in made in China, and then the Olympics, which means Maura, the

:18:20. > :18:23.Olympic gold at the World Championships? Olympic gold.

:18:23. > :18:29.They're going to pull back to make sure that you get into the

:18:29. > :18:32.Olympics? No, I would just go at full throttle. We have got

:18:32. > :18:38.physiotherapists and doctors to make sure that they do not get any

:18:38. > :18:42.injuries and we use the correct bandaging, so I should be OK.

:18:42. > :18:47.have always been in front, getting better and better, this is a test

:18:47. > :18:50.of character, he came from behind and this surely holds you in good

:18:51. > :18:56.stead, the pressure was a magic came through, have you thought

:18:56. > :19:01.about that? That is really good news, isn't it? Yes, I know now

:19:01. > :19:05.that when the stakes are high, I am behind on points, I know that I can

:19:05. > :19:10.keep myself together and keep my focus and keep going and push

:19:10. > :19:15.forward and get back in front and get a win. We had every faith in

:19:15. > :19:20.you and we have every faith for London 2012, you're becoming a

:19:20. > :19:23.superstar! Come back to us! In cycling, Yorkshire's Ed Clancy

:19:23. > :19:26.has won two gold medals at the European track championships in the

:19:26. > :19:33.Netherlands over the weekend. He won the Omnium, six events spread

:19:33. > :19:36.over two days. He came from behind to catch his rivals in the final

:19:36. > :19:40.discipline, the time trial. He'd already picked up gold in the team

:19:40. > :19:44.pursuit on Friday night. Now onto this weekend's football

:19:44. > :19:47.and there was controversy at two of our team's matches, a hat-trick at

:19:47. > :19:57.another and one of our teams was on the wrong end of an eight goal

:19:57. > :20:00.

:20:00. > :20:07.thriller. Here with a round-up of It turned their to be a bad weekend

:20:07. > :20:12.for the Ferguson family, it went wrong in the Manchester derby. The

:20:12. > :20:18.matter to be heading for a draw at Peterborough, but with four minutes

:20:18. > :20:23.of injury-time, this went home in the 96 minutes. Three points for

:20:23. > :20:33.Leeds. But Cardiff, an eight-goal thriller, bans the only got three.

:20:33. > :20:37.

:20:37. > :20:47.Cardiff got five including this one. In League One, another went for a

:20:47. > :20:49.

:20:49. > :20:56.We would be the first to pass on our thanks to the other lads for

:20:56. > :21:00.these chances. An absolute phenomenal goal, lots of quality.

:21:00. > :21:10.Chesterfield lost to Hartlepool, this was the difference between the

:21:10. > :21:12.

:21:12. > :21:16.two. Sheffield had a win over At Leyton Orient, the other half of

:21:16. > :21:23.Sheffield Reading for a win as well with Chris Portrait putting them

:21:23. > :21:27.ahead. It was at the sixth minute of injury time that Orient levelled.

:21:27. > :21:33.Sheffield United say they could lodge a formal complaint after a

:21:33. > :21:36.fan spat in the face of Mark Phillips.

:21:36. > :21:41.In League Two, Bradford got their third league win this season coming

:21:41. > :21:44.from a goal behind to defeat Northampton. James Hanson had the

:21:44. > :21:54.winner. It is now eight games without a win for Rotherham, coming

:21:54. > :22:03.

:22:03. > :22:11.away with a point from Shrewsbury That was a great goal to finish on.

:22:11. > :22:16.He has been calling you Nashua, he is not brave enough to say it on

:22:16. > :22:19.Now what would you say if we told you music made right here in

:22:19. > :22:21.Yorkshire has influenced the likes of global artists like JayZ, Snoop

:22:21. > :22:25.Dogg and even Britney Spears to record major hits?

:22:25. > :22:27.Well it's true. They're called RDB and their South Asian sounds have

:22:28. > :22:30.influenced some big names. But they're also writing and recording

:22:30. > :22:36.huge hits for Bollywood Cinema and receiving global recognition.
