:00:15. > :00:18.Good Evening. There's been another massive mill fire in Bradford - the

:00:18. > :00:23.second in four days. Firefighters have spent more than fourteen hours

:00:23. > :00:32.at the scene. At one point it was feared nearby homes in Dudley Hill

:00:32. > :00:36.could catch alight. Lighting up the night-time sky,

:00:36. > :00:41.fire crews were called to the disused mill at four o'clock this

:00:41. > :00:47.morning, they were met by a ferocious blaze. Nobody was injured,

:00:47. > :00:52.but strong winds were fanning the flames. It was feared that the fire

:00:52. > :00:57.would spread to nearby properties. We were worried about a nearby

:00:57. > :01:05.factory, there was housing at the back. We have to wait residents up

:01:05. > :01:10.in the early hours of the morning, and be prepared to evacuate. At its

:01:10. > :01:15.peak, 70 firefighters were at the scene. Extra officers and

:01:15. > :01:21.specialist equipment was needed. Tackling this blaze has been a

:01:21. > :01:31.major headache for the fire fighters. There is the busy Asix 50

:01:31. > :01:41.

:01:41. > :01:49.euros -- A65. There is still Joycean that has come down. --

:01:49. > :01:53.steel girders. The firefighters will spend a second night here

:01:53. > :01:59.dampening down the fire. It is the second mill fire in Bradford to

:01:59. > :02:06.just four days. Investigations are now under way to discover what

:02:06. > :02:09.caused by the fires. -- boat for the fires.

:02:09. > :02:12.The last few years have seen a large number of mill fires across

:02:12. > :02:15.the Bradford district - the high price of scrap metal is being

:02:15. > :02:17.linked with many of those. With mills particularly at risk, the

:02:17. > :02:24.fire service is now fighting back by identifying which properties

:02:24. > :02:29.could next fall victim to metal theft.

:02:29. > :02:37.Over the last three years West Yorkshire Fire Service have said

:02:37. > :02:43.that 60 fires were started deliberately. Arsonists have been

:02:43. > :02:50.stripping out a valuable metal. They will burn off the installation,

:02:50. > :02:59.just leaving them the bare copper, they use that for scrap. The

:02:59. > :03:03.burning off of the installation can cause fires to spread. In some

:03:03. > :03:09.mills the copper is taken without burning, but when a fire started,

:03:09. > :03:16.and get out of control, the results can be devastating. This mill in

:03:16. > :03:26.Keighley suffered a blaze one year ago. Investigators say that it was

:03:26. > :03:29.

:03:29. > :03:33.caused by a thieves looking for cabling. They come here, they fell

:03:33. > :03:38.-- they fill themselves up, they don't get it weighed. We have a

:03:38. > :03:43.better understanding about how they operate, we are working with police.

:03:43. > :03:47.The best way of securing the Mills is to get business is back in, that

:03:47. > :03:53.is now happening in Keighley, but hundreds of miles in West Yorkshire

:03:53. > :03:56.are standing empty, and after a fire they are pulled down. The fire

:03:56. > :04:01.service is tried to work out which ones could attract the thieves.

:04:01. > :04:04.They are there looking for these buildings, they go in and find out

:04:04. > :04:12.a bit about the building, we need to go and work with the owners to

:04:12. > :04:22.make them secured. The theft has become a plague, and Yorkshire's

:04:22. > :04:26.

:04:26. > :04:29.industrial heritage is not unbundle ball. -- is very vulnerable.

:04:29. > :04:32.Police are appealing for witnesses, after a man in his fifties was

:04:32. > :04:34.killed in an accident on the A1 this morning. It's believed the

:04:34. > :04:38.motorist from Sunderland had stopped his car on the carriageway

:04:38. > :04:41.and got out - when his vehicle was hit by an HGV. The driver of the

:04:41. > :04:44.truck has been arrested. Police are asking anyone who saw either

:04:44. > :04:47.vehicle to come forward. A man died last night after a fatal

:04:47. > :04:50.accident on the A19 near Northallerton. It's thought the car

:04:50. > :04:54.had stopped on the inside lane when it was hit by a van. A passenger

:04:54. > :04:57.from the car, a 24-year-old man from the Stockton on Tees area, was

:04:57. > :04:59.standing by the boot of the car and received fatal injuries in the

:04:59. > :05:02.accident. A West Yorkshire church where two

:05:02. > :05:09.of the Bronte sisters are buried has just three weeks to raise more

:05:09. > :05:14.than 30,000 to repair its dilapidated roof.

:05:14. > :05:19.Built in 1879, it has lasted almost 250 years. But now the Bronte

:05:19. > :05:23.sisters final resting place needs repair. The wooden planks are

:05:23. > :05:31.rotten, the paintings are stained and damaged by water, the building

:05:31. > :05:36.has been targeted by thieves three times in just over a year. The

:05:36. > :05:41.Church has been offered 100,000 for the repairs, but only if

:05:41. > :05:46.Haworth Parish Church can raise 65,000 itself. Fund-raising has

:05:46. > :05:51.gone on all year, but they are 30,000 short. We are looking at

:05:51. > :05:57.other plants, we are pinky about taking a short-term loan. We have

:05:57. > :06:03.to talk to funding agencies, and to the church, to see what the options

:06:03. > :06:10.are. Emily and Charlotte Bronte are buried beneath the foundations, the

:06:10. > :06:17.building get thousands of visitors every year. The repairs will

:06:17. > :06:24.jeopardise his reputation and heritage. A it is very urgent.

:06:24. > :06:29.it is very urgent. We have to take things away for safety. They were

:06:29. > :06:36.getting rained. Despite what might seem an insurmountable target, the

:06:36. > :06:39.church leaders here are optimistic that they will raised the money in

:06:39. > :06:42.time. Let's hope they reach that target.

:06:42. > :06:46.Let's hope they reach that target. Now the weather.

:06:46. > :06:53.It is going to be windy today, it will continue to be windy this

:06:53. > :06:58.evening. Gusts of up to 50 mph, particularly in North Yorkshire.

:06:58. > :07:04.Tomorrow, not as windy as today, some showers as well. This evening,

:07:04. > :07:10.a breezy end to the day, cloud moving into western parts, some

:07:10. > :07:20.clearer spells over the East. That will bring some patchy rain.

:07:20. > :07:21.

:07:21. > :07:27.Temperatures down to 3-4 degrees. Those wins will ease -- those winds

:07:27. > :07:35.will ease the Rabin night. Thursday, an improvement as we move through

:07:35. > :07:45.the day, a scattering of showers as we head towards the evening. A

:07:45. > :07:47.

:07:47. > :07:52.brisk westerly breeze. Temperatures around the seven-a degrees. -- 7-8
