:00:12. > :00:15.Good evening. The main news from Look North: A charity for the

:00:15. > :00:18.homeless in West Yorkshire says it has seen an unprecedented rise in

:00:18. > :00:21.demand for its help. The Community Awareness Project in Wakefield

:00:21. > :00:25.gives meals and clean clothes to homeless people in the city. 2011

:00:25. > :00:27.has been one of its busiest years, and they fear 2012 could be even

:00:27. > :00:37.busier as unemployment causes more people to lose their homes. Cathy

:00:37. > :00:39.

:00:39. > :00:45.Killick reports. It is lunchtime in Wakefield and

:00:45. > :00:48.with 60 mouths to feed their pots and pans are brimmed full. This

:00:48. > :00:54.charity has such an increase in people needing help that there are

:00:54. > :00:59.even looking for new premises. The year before last the charity Help

:00:59. > :01:05.1700 new clients. This year it has topped 2000. On a daily basis they

:01:05. > :01:10.were feeding around 40 people, now it is 60. A rise of 50 %. It is

:01:10. > :01:20.worrying because people are losing their jobs. Marriage breakdowns.

:01:20. > :01:20.

:01:20. > :01:24.Abusive families. People are wanted to get away from their household.

:01:24. > :01:30.Things are getting disastrously worse. A unemployment is one of the

:01:30. > :01:38.main causes. Tony is a forklift truck driver. I job would provide

:01:38. > :01:46.money for a home, but he has seen the work dried up and disappear.

:01:46. > :01:52.There was no problem getting a work from August to Christmas, it was

:01:52. > :02:01.easy. They were throwing work at you. But now there is no work, no

:02:01. > :02:06.work, no work. For now at the charity's meeting the extra demand

:02:06. > :02:11.with harvest donations, but the float will not last long. The

:02:11. > :02:14.volunteers are expecting things to get worse next year as unemployment

:02:14. > :02:17.is set to rise. Retailers in Harrogate have been

:02:17. > :02:20.hit by a third power cut in a fortnight. Some town centre shops

:02:20. > :02:22.were forced to close this morning as power supplies failed. Northern

:02:22. > :02:25.Power compensated after the first power cut before Christmas by

:02:25. > :02:30.offering free parking to shoppers. The second failure was on Christmas

:02:30. > :02:32.Day. The overrunning of a railway

:02:33. > :02:36.station's redevelopment in South Yorkshire means there has been no

:02:36. > :02:38.disabled access for nearly two years. Rotherham Central Station is

:02:38. > :02:43.undergoing a 7.5 million refurbishment which started in

:02:43. > :02:46.February 2010. It was due to be finished in December last year, but

:02:46. > :02:56.complications have meant it is still inaccessible for disabled

:02:56. > :02:57.

:02:57. > :03:02.passengers. Emma Blackburn reports. Beginning at day trip at Rotherham

:03:02. > :03:06.Station is something support worker Thomas now dreads. From lack of

:03:06. > :03:12.parking to waiting without shelter, and then finding a way across the

:03:12. > :03:17.platform when there are only steps. It is hard work. You are not

:03:18. > :03:24.pleased when you see you have got to use it. It is probably better

:03:24. > :03:29.taking him on a bus them bringing him here. If they want to go north

:03:29. > :03:33.from platform to, they have to board onto a train south, across

:03:33. > :03:37.the ramp there and they get on the train back to Rotherham to arrive

:03:38. > :03:43.on the other side. If they just want a trip to Meadow Hall, they

:03:43. > :03:47.can return on the train. This has been happening since work began to

:03:47. > :03:53.restore the station in February 2010. It was meant to be completed

:03:53. > :03:59.this time last year but a collapsing retaining wall meant the

:03:59. > :04:04.station still resembles a building site. We want to give an

:04:04. > :04:09.unequivocal apology. We believe that when we finish the work but it

:04:09. > :04:12.will be well worth the wait because it will be a real asset and welcome

:04:12. > :04:18.to Rotherham. Until then, passengers are continuing to

:04:18. > :04:23.struggle. Terrible. I love the train, but having to come here and

:04:24. > :04:28.get the steps, I am out of breath. It is a joke this place. Me and my

:04:28. > :04:33.wife used to go to Doncaster every Tuesday, but I have to go on my own

:04:33. > :04:36.because she is in a wheelchair. is hoped the refurbishment will be

:04:36. > :04:39.completed some time in the new year. In football, Huddersfield Town

:04:39. > :04:43.manager Lee Clark says his star striker Jordan Rhodes isn't for

:04:43. > :04:46.sale at any price. West Ham United have had a bid of 3 million turned

:04:46. > :04:50.down for Rhodes, who has already scored 20 goals this season. His

:04:50. > :05:00.manager says he is worth a lot more, but, even if a bigger offer is made,

:05:00. > :05:01.

:05:01. > :05:04.Huddersfield will not sell. most them perk - - important person

:05:05. > :05:09.who makes the decisions is the owner of the club, and he is

:05:09. > :05:14.adamant that there is no way that Jordan will leave at any price. He

:05:14. > :05:17.will be worth even more money in the summer. Hopefully we will get

:05:17. > :05:20.promoted and he will stay with this and progress.

:05:20. > :05:23.A couple from North Yorkshire are celebrating with a late Christmas

:05:23. > :05:26.present of a 1 million win on the EuroMillions draw. Judy and Frank

:05:26. > :05:29.Whitmore, from Tockwith, kept their winning ticket in an antique teapot

:05:29. > :05:35.after realising they had won on Christmas Eve. Stuart Whincup has

:05:35. > :05:39.their story. Celebrating a Christmas present

:05:39. > :05:43.that they say will change their lives. Today the retired couple

:05:43. > :05:52.were remembering the moment they discovered they were millionaires.

:05:52. > :05:59.A Quayside, you won't win. I said, you've read the numbers out. I said,

:05:59. > :06:07.well I can tell you, because you couldn't print it! It is just

:06:07. > :06:12.unbelievable. It doesn't sink in at all. It is a numbing feeling.

:06:12. > :06:16.couple, who had been married for 43 years so it there will be no lavish

:06:17. > :06:24.spending, that were to the couple now dream of going on holiday?

:06:24. > :06:29.We're going to go to Northumberland! I would like to go

:06:29. > :06:33.to the top of Scotland's and come all the way back down. Frank and

:06:33. > :06:43.Judy said the new found wealth has not really sunk in, but they intend

:06:43. > :06:48.

:06:48. > :06:55.to use the money to help out their We have got more wet weather on the

:06:55. > :06:58.way from the West through Friday afternoon. We have a broad run off

:06:58. > :07:03.south westerlies and this weather front will bring some miserable

:07:03. > :07:07.conditions through Friday afternoon and evening. In the short term, we

:07:07. > :07:12.will have the number of heavy showers. They will clear away and

:07:12. > :07:16.it will become drive it clear spells, so watch out for an icy

:07:16. > :07:24.patches. But the wind will ease considerably towards the end of the

:07:24. > :07:28.night. Back cold, bright start to Friday, but the sunshine will give

:07:28. > :07:35.way to clouds. Through the afternoon rain will spread from the

:07:35. > :07:40.west region the Pennines in the middle of the day. There could be a

:07:40. > :07:46.short spell of snow over the highest ground. We ever you are, it

:07:46. > :07:52.will feel colt with temperatures up to six, if you are last - - if you
