:00:00. > :00:10.Welcome to Friday's Look North. Tonight:

:00:10. > :00:13.A plea for peace. Religious faiths and police in Bradford unite ahead

:00:13. > :00:15.of a planned English Defence League protest this weekend.

:00:15. > :00:17.Also tonight: Pooling their resources. The workers with

:00:17. > :00:32.disabilities sinking their Remploy redundancy money into a new company.

:00:32. > :00:36.I have invested five grand in this business. It will not feel. It will

:00:36. > :00:41.succeed! The ultimate pottery collection.

:00:41. > :00:43.4,000 pots hoarded in a small terraced house now on public

:00:43. > :00:46.display. And in sport, Sheffield United have

:00:46. > :00:49.this evening sacked manager, David Weir. In his ten league games in

:00:49. > :00:56.charge, his side managed just one win.

:00:56. > :01:00.It has been a largely cloudy day. You can see the cloud in Sheffield.

:01:00. > :01:12.There was a breeze. Will it improve for the weekend? I am back later

:01:12. > :01:13.with the full forecast. Good evening and welcome to the

:01:13. > :01:25.programme. David Weir later. Hundreds of police

:01:25. > :01:26.officers will be on the streets of Bradford tomorrow as members of the

:01:26. > :01:30.far right English Defence League descend on the city. Their protest

:01:30. > :01:35.is going ahead as planned, despite the resignation earlier this week of

:01:35. > :01:39.the leader Tommy Robinson. Today in a move to reassure worried members

:01:39. > :01:42.of the Muslim community every mosque in the city had a visit from a

:01:42. > :01:47.senior police officer and council official. Our reporter is in

:01:47. > :01:52.Bradford city centre for us now. What do we know about tomorrow's

:01:52. > :02:01.police operation? Well, it is a pleasant evening here

:02:01. > :02:11.in Bradford. Tomorrow, there will be hundreds of police officers here. A

:02:11. > :02:16.significant number will police this event. The EDL website say they plan

:02:16. > :02:21.to go ahead with the protest and say it will be peaceful and they have

:02:21. > :02:27.the right to be here. Bees weather seems the last time the

:02:27. > :02:32.EDL came to Bradford. A major police operation kept things under control.

:02:32. > :02:35.Two years on, the city is bracing itself for another protest. They

:02:35. > :02:43.will gather in the city centre in the morning. A significant number of

:02:43. > :02:49.police will be present. Many bussed in from other parts of the UK.

:02:49. > :03:05.Earlier this week, Tony Robinson stood down giving this event and air

:03:05. > :03:08.of unpredictability. The people of Bradford are equipped to deal with

:03:08. > :03:18.their challenges. The EDL bring nothing but Tait and division.

:03:18. > :03:32.Police visited mosques during Friday prayers. We had a protest here in

:03:32. > :03:38.2010. The leader of the EDL did not sure up at that event. We are

:03:38. > :03:43.looking at all different aspects of the dynamics. It could be different

:03:43. > :03:52.to other events. We are prepared for all eventualities. Every mosque in

:03:52. > :03:55.Bradford had a visit from a senior police officer and council official.

:03:55. > :03:58.They made it clear the centre of Bradford would not become a no—go

:03:58. > :04:06.zone for people going about their everyday business. It is helpful for

:04:06. > :04:11.the police to come out to communities to reassure people. I

:04:11. > :04:22.think people are feeling more comfortable. The police have assured

:04:22. > :04:31.us the communities will be safe. I would ask Muslim people not to

:04:31. > :04:34.react. The leader of Bradford Council has written to the

:04:34. > :04:40.government, requesting more powers to stop protests like the one

:04:40. > :04:44.tomorrow from happening. Bradford is open for business and people should

:04:44. > :04:51.not be put off coming to the city, that is the message from the

:04:51. > :04:58.council. Religious leaders from all sorts of faiths have been here this

:04:58. > :05:02.evening, having prayers and wanting to put out the message that peace is

:05:02. > :05:09.so important in the city which has had more than its fair share of

:05:09. > :05:14.troubles in the past. They have been putting ribbons on trees and having

:05:14. > :05:19.silent prayers. The message is, come to Bradford tomorrow. There will be

:05:19. > :05:21.a heavy police presence and you should be safe.

:05:21. > :05:24.A group of disabled workers from West Yorkshire who lost their jobs

:05:24. > :05:28.have pooled their redundancy money and set up a new company. They all

:05:28. > :05:31.used to work for Remploy, which offered employment for disabled

:05:31. > :05:42.people. But the Government has been closing down the factories as they

:05:42. > :05:45.were costing too much to run. Five years ago, there were 83 Remploy

:05:45. > :05:49.factories employing 3,500 people across the country. By the end of

:05:49. > :05:52.this year, all but 12 will have been closed. While the closure programme

:05:52. > :05:55.has been running, the Government says it has helped 50,000 disabled

:05:55. > :06:00.people find jobs since 2010. Our reporter has been along to the

:06:00. > :06:11.launch of the new factory in Leeds. It was just last year that Stephen

:06:11. > :06:14.feared being left on the scrapheap. The government said the factories

:06:14. > :06:24.were true costly and head away disabled workers. His feelings are

:06:24. > :06:36.simple. Sick and horrible. My world crashed on the. Goal was not an

:06:36. > :06:44.option. They pooled their redundancy money and set up their own company.

:06:44. > :06:50.This has given us a chance to possibly prove people wrong. I'm

:06:50. > :06:56.excited to be here. If we didn't have this, we would be on the dole.

:06:56. > :07:07.I have invested five grand in this. It will not feel. We will succeed.

:07:07. > :07:17.As well as being the workers, they are now also the owners. They want

:07:17. > :07:26.to make a profit, but with a purpose. Everything we make us back

:07:26. > :07:31.into the business. It is about developing people with disabilities.

:07:31. > :07:34.Because of the way this organisation has set up, interest is not just

:07:34. > :07:40.been from businesses but from politicians. It is a genuine

:07:40. > :07:46.cooperative that works. People with disabilities can make a massive

:07:46. > :07:50.contribution and that can win contracts and beat the private

:07:51. > :07:55.sector. While accepting it will be tough, that is exactly what they are

:07:55. > :08:04.aiming to do. Rome was not built in a day. This company will not be

:08:04. > :08:10.built in a day. It will take time. I am happy that I am doing this. Happy

:08:10. > :08:18.to that the orders are already coming in. For a company they both

:08:18. > :08:23.value and all. We wish them the very best of luck.

:08:23. > :08:26.Later on Look North: we are live at Bramall Lane.

:08:26. > :08:29.Plus plans to reduce overcrowding on one of Yorkshire's busiest railway

:08:29. > :08:32.lines, but will the cash be available?

:08:32. > :08:35.A Bradford woman has been jailed for 21 months for her part in

:08:35. > :08:38.trafficking a 20—year—old Slovakian victim who was kidnapped from her

:08:38. > :08:46.home country and sexually abused and imprisoned in Yorkshire and

:08:46. > :08:50.Lancashire. Petra Zudzova, who is 25, was sentenced at Preston Crown

:08:50. > :08:54.Court today. Earlier this week, three men involved in what was

:08:54. > :08:58.called a case of modern day slavery were jailed for a total of 31 years.

:08:58. > :09:01.South Yorkshire Police have named a man who died after he was found

:09:01. > :09:05.injured in Sheffield city centre. 45—year—old Calvin Clarke, was found

:09:05. > :09:10.by a member of the public near to Snig Hill Police Station at around

:09:10. > :09:17.5pm on 27 September. He was taken to the Northern General

:09:17. > :09:19.revealed that Mr Clarke died of a stab wound.

:09:19. > :09:24.Part of Scarborough town centre was sealed off and shops evacuated today

:09:24. > :09:28.after a security alert. Bomb disposal teams were called in after

:09:28. > :09:31.an abandoned pram with wires coming out of it, was reported to police in

:09:31. > :09:42.Westborough at around 9am this morning. A 100 metre cordon was put

:09:42. > :09:45.in place and a controlled explosion was carried out. North Yorkshire

:09:45. > :09:48.Police say the evacuation had been a precaution and they were confident

:09:48. > :09:53.the item had not been an explosive device.

:09:53. > :09:57.Around 20 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a row of shops on

:09:57. > :10:00.Bank Street in Mexborough. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

:10:00. > :10:04.say crews were called, after reports of a fire in a roof space above two

:10:04. > :10:07.shops at around 2pm this afternoon. A nearby pub had to be evacuated,

:10:07. > :10:10.but no—one was hurt. An investigation into how the fire

:10:10. > :10:13.began is now underway. South Yorkshire Police say there has

:10:13. > :10:21.been a 30% increase in valuables being stolen from cars in Barnsley.

:10:21. > :10:25.Figures comparing April to August this year, with the same time last

:10:25. > :10:28.year, show a rise of 4% across the whole of South Yorkshire. While that

:10:28. > :10:38.type of crime has fallen in Doncaster, in Barnsley it is up by

:10:38. > :10:50.almost a third. We have sporadic hotspots. We had a

:10:50. > :10:54.number of incidents of car theft in ferns parole last night. Lock your

:10:54. > :10:58.doors, lock your windows and hide your valuables. Officers say it is

:10:58. > :11:01.important people lock things like sat—navs out of sight.

:11:01. > :11:04.Firefighters across Yorkshire will go on strike again a week tomorrow.

:11:04. > :11:07.Members of the Fire Brigades Union across England and Wales will walk

:11:07. > :11:11.out for five hours during the evening. It is all part of a dispute

:11:11. > :11:13.about planned changes to their pensions. A four hour walk—out was

:11:13. > :11:16.held last month. A scheme has been launched today to

:11:16. > :11:19.dramatically reduce overcrowding on one of Yorkshire's busiest railway

:11:19. > :11:22.lines. North Yorkshire County Council and Metro have drawn up

:11:22. > :11:25.plans to electrify the Leeds, Harrogate and York route, and to

:11:25. > :11:34.double the number of services. But more than £90 million of Government

:11:34. > :11:39.funds will be needed. Phenomenal growth during a

:11:39. > :11:43.recession. 1 million extra passengers in five years. Is now one

:11:44. > :11:51.of the most overcrowded in northern England. But there is a plan.

:11:51. > :11:59.Electrify the root. That will mean faster, newer trains running more

:11:59. > :12:04.frequently. The MP for Harrowgate is backing the proposals. Today, they

:12:04. > :12:12.called for £93 million of government funds. We are looking for a 15

:12:12. > :12:17.minute frequency. Longer trains with four carriages. Faster trains as

:12:18. > :12:29.well. The whole thing will be more reliable and comfortable. The South

:12:29. > :12:32.of England has seen billions spent on rail infrastructure in recent

:12:32. > :12:37.years. But last night the Prime Minister suggested there might funds

:12:37. > :12:49.available for additional projects in Yorkshire. We will spend three times

:12:49. > :13:01.more on railway projects than on HS2. Electrification of the

:13:01. > :13:12.trans—Pennine route is vital. I think this should be electrified. It

:13:12. > :13:20.is overcrowded. It is always full. We were told, if you buy a ticket

:13:20. > :13:30.you are not guaranteed a seat. If £93 million can be fun —— can be

:13:30. > :13:40.found, then the proposals could go ahead. And by then there could be

:13:40. > :13:43.another 1 million extra passengers. Before 7pm, cup glory. We see the

:13:43. > :13:48.magnificent Rugby League World Cup back in Yorkshire more than 40 years

:13:48. > :13:52.after being nicked in Bradford. And a hoarder extraordinaire. The

:13:52. > :14:05.collector who filled his home with every pot imaginable.

:14:05. > :14:10.He has had just 13 games in charge, but he has won only two of them.

:14:10. > :14:14.David Weir's time in charge of Sheffield United has been short and

:14:14. > :14:16.unsuccessful. At lunchtime, he attended the pre—match press

:14:16. > :14:20.conference ahead of Sunday's game at Coventry. A few hours later, news

:14:20. > :14:28.came through that he had been sacked.

:14:28. > :14:34.The news tonight can only have come as a big shock to David Weir

:14:34. > :14:38.himself. This was the scene at the training ground this morning. He

:14:38. > :14:45.took the session as normal and spoke to reporters after words. For the

:14:45. > :14:50.last time as the boss of the blades. Appointed in June, David Weir has

:14:50. > :14:58.spent most of his short tenure being reminded of the pressure he was

:14:59. > :15:10.under two correctly feel years. They are left in the relegation zone. He

:15:10. > :15:19.had begun to look rather tired of constantly being asked to publicly

:15:19. > :15:26.defend himself. I was disappointed. The players were deep —— the players

:15:26. > :15:34.were disappointed. It is embarrassing to have had this run of

:15:34. > :15:39.results. Have you had any feedback from the hierarchy tonight you Mac

:15:39. > :16:04.no. Do you resign? No. The new owners to control last

:16:04. > :16:15.month. By which time, David Weir had already begun to feel badly. The

:16:15. > :16:17.Saudi prince has stated the aim of getting them back into the Premier

:16:18. > :16:21.League as quickly as possible. Our reporter is outside Bramhall

:16:21. > :16:27.Lane now. What has the club had to say?

:16:27. > :16:36.Well, David Weir had been in charge of very short length of time. This

:16:36. > :16:39.was his first job. Tonight he has had a bitter lesson about the ups

:16:39. > :16:45.and downs of running a football club. A statement says they have

:16:45. > :16:52.relieved David Weir and his assistant. Their former captain will

:16:52. > :16:56.take interim charge for the game this weekend. The club say they want

:16:56. > :17:02.to appoint a permanent replacement as quickly as possible. While ago, I

:17:03. > :17:09.caught up with some fans and asked what they thought. You cannot always

:17:09. > :17:17.blame the manager. The need to invest. Combine both Sheffield

:17:17. > :17:27.teams. They have played good football at times. But results are

:17:27. > :17:31.important. They were not playing as well, but now they have a new

:17:31. > :17:37.manager they might play better than they used to. The club at that they

:17:37. > :17:51.wish David all the best. None of us want to be in this position. We can

:17:51. > :18:07.only speculate about the new decision.

:18:07. > :18:19.This is the rather magnificent Rugby League World Cup. The 2013

:18:19. > :18:22.tournament gets underway in just a couple of weeks time with England

:18:22. > :18:26.kicking it off against Australia. Before that, the trophy is going on

:18:26. > :18:29.display at the Midland Hotel in Bradford. Why is that newsworthy?

:18:29. > :18:33.Well, back in 1970, it was stolen from there. To pick up the tale, I

:18:33. > :18:37.am joined by the Rugby Football League's historian Tony Collins.

:18:37. > :18:45.It was the day after Australia one the game in 1970. They had a

:18:46. > :18:51.celebration. Then the trophy disappeared. By the time they were

:18:51. > :19:02.on their way back, no one knew where it was. It is a great sporting

:19:02. > :19:14.mystery. 20 years later, someone saw something shiny in a ditch.

:19:14. > :19:24.It was reunited in 1999. Harry, you were there. Was it like?

:19:24. > :19:30.It was bizarre. It was a wonderful moment. You can see how serious they

:19:30. > :19:36.were. We were delighted to get it back.

:19:36. > :19:41.It is not small. You wonder what someone did with it?

:19:41. > :19:55.It is not an easy thing to get rid of because it is distinctive. I

:19:55. > :20:01.guess they just threw it away. Are they going to look after it a

:20:01. > :20:07.bit more carefully this time? It will definitely be returned to

:20:07. > :20:12.its rightful owners. Who do you think will be picking

:20:12. > :20:27.this up at the end of it? I hope it will be Kevin Tsing Field.

:20:27. > :20:34.Williams will be playing at Headingley on 8th of November. It

:20:34. > :20:40.will be fantastic, whether it is the big teams like Australia or USA or

:20:40. > :20:51.Italy, it will be fantastic for anyone. You will have a great time

:20:51. > :20:59.if you go to watch it. Hopefully the trophy will not disappear again!

:20:59. > :21:05.Can you believe there are six security guards in the studio for

:21:05. > :21:10.that? ! Are you a collector? And do you

:21:10. > :21:14.secretly hope your collection will turn out to be worth a fortune? If

:21:14. > :21:18.so, this next report will give you a warm glow. You may not have heard of

:21:18. > :21:34.William Ismay, but his collection is the star of a new artwork at the

:21:34. > :21:42.Hepworth Wakefield. Collected over a lifetime, this

:21:42. > :21:44.pottery has been made by Britain's best ceramic artists of the last

:21:44. > :21:55.century. Might look humble, but is worth thousands. The collector

:21:55. > :22:08.had an unerring eye and a love of ceramics. He was a lowly paid

:22:08. > :22:15.librarian. This very ordinary house housed him and his collection of

:22:15. > :22:26.3500 pop is. Inside, every surface of every room was crammed with pots.

:22:26. > :22:32.More of his collection was stored above the bath. There was hardly any

:22:32. > :22:42.room to get into the house because it was a passageway or hallway and

:22:42. > :22:48.it was piled high with boxes. I squeezed past two go into the

:22:48. > :22:53.kitchen. I have never seen so many ports in one kitchen. There was

:22:53. > :22:57.literally one dinner plate's worth of space at one end of the table

:22:57. > :23:07.which was clear. That was where he ate. This is how the gallery have

:23:07. > :23:12.chosen to display the collection. Wooden floorboards mark out his

:23:12. > :23:26.house. A fifth of his collection is displayed. There were some elegant

:23:26. > :23:34.stages. They added the white appliances. Then we thought it would

:23:34. > :23:46.be bonkers with the pots. We were right! The finished artwork makes

:23:46. > :23:56.you wonder why the pots would be valued more than the gadgets. Who is

:23:56. > :24:02.to say which is the more artful? I had an embarrassing collection

:24:02. > :24:16.when I was younger. I used to collect robbers, trawls and ceramic

:24:16. > :24:27.pigs. I used to collect stamps. Now I

:24:27. > :24:41.collect clothes and handbags! We have some wet weather for

:24:41. > :24:51.Saturday and Sunday. This was taken yesterday near Keighley. It looks

:24:51. > :24:52.like snow in Scarborough, but it is actually the form from crashing

:24:52. > :25:03.waves. No snow just yet! Tomorrow, lot of cloud around. The cloud will

:25:03. > :25:07.produce outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. Some uncertainty over the

:25:07. > :25:11.timings of the forecast. At the moment, it looks like tomorrow

:25:11. > :25:17.evening is when we will get their heaviest of the rain. It is courtesy

:25:17. > :25:21.of this area of low pressure. It is quite breezy out there. That will

:25:21. > :25:25.gradually relaxed through the course of the weekend. We have had some

:25:25. > :25:35.bright or sunny spells. There has been a lot of cloud around. We will

:25:35. > :25:48.see the weather spread in from the south. Very light and patchy. A

:25:48. > :26:01.rather grey and damp night. The sun will rise in the morning at seven ——

:26:01. > :26:05.at 7:30am. We will start the day on a breezy and cloudy note. Patchy

:26:05. > :26:12.rain and drizzle on and off through the course of the day. Rather

:26:12. > :26:23.disappointing. Becoming more persistent through the evening. A

:26:23. > :26:37.Some uncertainty about Sunday. A north—east.

:26:38. > :26:42.Some uncertainty about Sunday. A number of fronts will cross as. It

:26:42. > :26:46.looks like one will spread in from the East on Sunday, bringing heavy

:26:46. > :26:53.spells of rain through the morning. Later and patchy in the afternoon.

:26:53. > :27:04.Monday looks unsettled. Showers or longer spells of rain. Tuesday looks

:27:04. > :27:08.decent. Wet and windy weather returning for Wednesday.

:27:08. > :27:16.Thanks, Paul! Sorry, I just saw the dress and thought of Paul!

:27:16. > :27:16.Second time this week that there
