:00:36. > :00:42.thousands of disabled people get into sport, including this famous
:00:43. > :00:47.Paralympian. He saw me go through every single sport, we tried tennis
:00:48. > :00:51.and rugby and then he stepped `` he helped me move into athletics. It is
:00:52. > :01:00.great to see his hard work recognised. He has received an MBE
:01:01. > :01:08.for his work. When you read the first lines, it does not sink in.

:01:16. > :01:22.tragedy that led Pat and directly to our MBE. Her daughter died after
:01:23. > :01:29.sniffing from an aerosol so Pat set up a fund to others suffering from
:01:30. > :01:33.similar problems. We are trying to educate children and teachers on the
:01:34. > :01:41.dangers of substance abuse. I feel honoured and humbled that the same
:01:42. > :01:46.time. MBE is also go to other community workers in South
:01:47. > :01:52.Yorkshire. And for another man for his services to the arts community.
:01:53. > :01:55.This woman is not a football fan but recognise that lots of other Asians
:01:56. > :02:00.were and set up a trust to make the sport more inclusive and she has
:02:01. > :02:08.worked tirelessly for Rotherham's multicultural community. A lot of
:02:09. > :02:14.people in Rotherham do a lot of good work and it is a fantastic time. It
:02:15. > :02:20.is great to be recognised. After 38 years after caring for animals, Jean
:02:21. > :02:24.is amazed to be made an MBE. I was absolutely thrilled and amazed. Who
:02:25. > :02:29.would have thought that I would get the support? I am totally thrilled
:02:30. > :02:37.and gobsmacked. The MP for rather Filing will now be
:02:38. > :02:42.known as Sir Kevin Barron. He is to be knighted for his political and

:03:24. > :03:26.who went missing four years ago. Thomas Groome was 54 when he
:03:27. > :03:30.disappeared on New Year's Day in 2010. He was last seen leaving his
:03:31. > :03:33.son's house in Thorne near Doncaster. Anyone who saw him or his
:03:34. > :03:36.car is being encouraged to come forward. Earlier this year, five
:03:37. > :03:38.people were arrested on suspicion of his murder.
:03:39. > :03:41.Firefighters in Yorkshire have just begun their latest strike over
:03:42. > :03:45.government plans to raise their retirement age and increase pension

:04:25. > :04:27.the headlines. We had the coldest spring since the early '60s with
:04:28. > :04:31.snow drifts ten feet high. That gave way to a long warm summer and the
:04:32. > :04:35.hottest July we've had in years. The year then ended with a North Sea
:04:36. > :04:44.storm surge, the highest for over half a century. With a look back at
:04:45. > :04:52.those events, here's Paul Hudson. 2013 soon became small garden and
:04:53. > :04:57.cold. By the ever hours of Monday the 21st of January, lots of snow
:04:58. > :05:02.across parts of our region where the deepest since December 2010 at 21
:05:03. > :05:07.centimetres at this bridge and a notable 80 centimetres and the
:05:08. > :05:11.middle of Chechen city centre. And the end of winter was not far from
:05:12. > :05:16.average, but it certainly had a sting and steel with the worst
:05:17. > :05:21.snowfall in March since 1979, bringing chaos to the region. 20
:05:22. > :05:29.centimetres depth of snow was recorded at the spark but dress at
:05:30. > :05:37.the Pennines reached even deeper. It was the coldest winters since 1892.
:05:38. > :05:41.If Spring was grand, some are made up for it and after sex excessive
:05:42. > :05:48.wash`outs, at last the sun shone for weeks on end. July was the hottest
:05:49. > :05:55.since 2006 and summer was the top five warmest on record `` sex
