:00:10. > :00:16.Good evening. A 19`year`old man is in hospital in Sheffield after being

:00:17. > :00:19.stabbed in a fight at a pub in the early hours of this morning. The

:00:20. > :00:23.incident happened at the Three Feathers pub in the Darnall area of

:00:24. > :00:25.the city at 1am. One man has been arrested.

:00:26. > :00:29.The Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield has become the first place

:00:30. > :00:33.in the country to fit a new type of hearing aid that is attached to the

:00:34. > :00:36.skull using magnets. Doctors say the new device will dramatically reduce

:00:37. > :00:39.the amount of aftercare patients need as well as improving how

:00:40. > :01:08.implanted hearing aids look. Our Health Correspondent Jamie Coulson

:01:09. > :01:12.reports. It is really hard not having any

:01:13. > :01:17.hearing. Now I will be able to hear my little girl singing. People will

:01:18. > :01:23.be able to talk to me without shouting. The magnet is attached to

:01:24. > :01:28.another one which has been surgically implanted behind Zoe's

:01:29. > :01:33.ear. The device will conduct sound vibrations through the bone direct

:01:34. > :01:36.to her inner ear. They are not new but previously they had to be

:01:37. > :01:43.attached using a stirred that penetrated the skin. By using

:01:44. > :01:50.magnets, doctors believe there are big benefits. It is a big step

:01:51. > :01:55.forward because the patient is `` patient involvement is minimal or

:01:56. > :02:04.no. They can forget about it so there is no day`to`day looking after

:02:05. > :02:15.needed at all. For Zoe, it is a question of being able to hear

:02:16. > :02:23.again. You can cry all you like. I will get you a Toshiba. I am able to

:02:24. > :02:31.hear from both sides now. It is emotional. Zoe was the first patient

:02:32. > :02:33.to be offered this new hearing aid that there are plans for more

:02:34. > :02:37.patients to follow. Football now and most of our New

:02:38. > :02:58.Year's Day fixtures survived the wild weather.

:02:59. > :03:02.Chesterfield's game at Northampton was called off because of a

:03:03. > :03:06.waterlogged pitch. Meanwhile York won for the first time since

:03:07. > :03:11.October, that ended 1`0 against Morecambe. And we'll show you

:03:12. > :03:15.highlights from all of our teams on tonight's late Look North at 10.45,

:03:16. > :03:19.here on BBC One. Hundreds of cyclists braved the rain

:03:20. > :03:23.and cold weather to take part in the first big bike event to be held in

:03:24. > :03:26.Yorkshire in this Tour de France year. Some of the top riders in the

:03:27. > :03:30.country were competing at cyclo`cross which has been held for

:03:31. > :03:36.the first time at Ripley Castle near Harrogate. Ripley Castle is on the

:03:37. > :03:45.route for Le Tour which takes place in July.

:03:46. > :03:48.Cuts made to opening hours at a historic swimming pool in Leeds are

:03:49. > :03:51.being reversed by the community group that took it over. Today

:03:52. > :03:54.bathers in fancy dress jumped into the pool at Bramley Baths to

:03:55. > :03:58.celebrate the success of the community enterprise. In 2012 the

:03:59. > :04:01.future of Grade II listed pool looked uncertain as the council

:04:02. > :04:05.wanted to slash opening hours to save money. A team of volunteers

:04:06. > :04:09.took over exactly one year ago and the baths now employ twenty six

:04:10. > :04:18.staff who look after more than 300 members.

:04:19. > :04:25.A pretty poor start to the New Year weather wise.

:04:26. > :04:34.It has already been a wet start to January. Some of the showers will be

:04:35. > :04:38.on the heavy side will stop they will start to Peter out in the early

:04:39. > :04:42.hours of tomorrow morning. Temperatures getting down to five

:04:43. > :04:49.Celsius with a strong breeze from the south`west. It is looking like a

:04:50. > :04:54.decent day tomorrow. We will see some cloud building. It will stay

:04:55. > :04:55.breezy with temperatures up to eight Celsius. It can only get better.

:04:56. > :05:20.A very happy New Year. Goodbye. Hello. It is a New Year but it is

:05:21. > :05:27.the same old weather. Flood warnings are on the rise. The flood line

:05:28. > :05:34.number is on screen if you are at all concerned. Still some rain to

:05:35. > :05:36.come this evening and overnight Still some heavy bursts. It will
