:00:00. > :00:00.That's all from the BBC News at Six, so it's goodbye from me, and on BBC

:00:00. > :00:12.Hello, welcome to Look North. The programme tonight, Yorkshire's only

:00:13. > :00:17.female Tory MP, ousted by her own party. Anne McIntosh pays the price

:00:18. > :00:22.for falling out with local party officials but she won't go quietly.

:00:23. > :00:25.I do not intend to be thrown aside by a small group. It is for my

:00:26. > :00:30.constituents as a whole to dismiss me, if they wish to do so. We live

:00:31. > :00:35.from Westminster where her fate was decided. Also tonight, in limbo, the

:00:36. > :00:39.Yorkshire residents who can't sell their houses while plans for a

:00:40. > :00:46.high`speed rail link are finalised. We'll Labour them? We will ask let

:00:47. > :00:51.Wash we will ask Ed Miliband, who joins us live. Could this be the new

:00:52. > :00:57.owner of Leeds United? An Italian with two fraud convictions. School

:00:58. > :01:00.dinners, who will be crowned the School Chef Of The Year? And after

:01:01. > :01:05.wet and windy weather this evening our attention turns to the risk of

:01:06. > :01:07.ice. We have a Met Office weather warning. I have the details later in

:01:08. > :01:17.the programme. Good evening and welcome to the

:01:18. > :01:20.programme. The Conservative MP for Thirsk and Malton, Anne McIntosh,

:01:21. > :01:23.has lost her battle against deselection. Her local party called

:01:24. > :01:27.a ballot of members after they were concerned she hadn't done enough to

:01:28. > :01:30.represent her own constituents. But Ms McIntosh has vowed to stand as an

:01:31. > :01:35.independent at the next election ` saying she won't be "thrown aside by

:01:36. > :01:43.a small cabal". Our political editor Len Tingle joins us live now from

:01:44. > :01:48.Westminster. You have been following the twists and turns. Describe what

:01:49. > :01:53.happened at the ballot. It was nail`biting stuff. There are 560

:01:54. > :01:58.members of the Conservative Party in Thirsk and Malton. All of them

:01:59. > :02:02.potentially had a vote. At midday, Anne McIntosh turned up at Central

:02:03. > :02:06.office here in London. We expected a little while to be taken to verify

:02:07. > :02:10.the votes, to make sure that every single vote was from a genuine

:02:11. > :02:13.member of the Conservative Party and then the count would begin. We

:02:14. > :02:20.expected the result about 2:30pm. But clearly it was really tough

:02:21. > :02:25.going inside because it was all 4pm that we got some kind of indication

:02:26. > :02:29.that she had rather historically lost that ballot, so she will not be

:02:30. > :02:34.the candidate at the 2015 election as far as the constituency

:02:35. > :02:39.association is concerned. But, as you say, she will not go down

:02:40. > :02:45.fighting. She came out and this is what she had to say. I do not intend

:02:46. > :02:49.to be thrown aside by a small group. It is for my constituents as a whole

:02:50. > :02:54.to dismiss me, if they wish to do so. It is my intention to stand and

:02:55. > :03:00.represent Thirsk, Malton and finally constituency at the next general

:03:01. > :03:03.election and I shall continue to fulfil my duties including helping

:03:04. > :03:10.candidates who are starting `` standing this year and next year.

:03:11. > :03:13.Fighting talk. What happens in her constituency? This is one of the

:03:14. > :03:17.safest Tory seats in the country, and 11,000 majority at the last

:03:18. > :03:21.election. They will be queueing up to become a candidate here. What

:03:22. > :03:26.starts now is the selection process. There will be an open invitation for

:03:27. > :03:29.people to apply, a short list drawn up and sometime towards the middle

:03:30. > :03:34.of the year the association will decide exactly who is going to

:03:35. > :03:38.represent them in 2015. But if Anne McIntosh decides to go ahead and

:03:39. > :03:43.stand herself, presumably as an independent, that could split the

:03:44. > :03:47.vote. That could lead to a very, very interesting time. Remember,

:03:48. > :03:52.North Yorkshire is an area that has been targeted by UKIP, so it could

:03:53. > :03:59.be that the 11,000 majority might perhaps not be as safe as it used to

:04:00. > :04:03.be. Len Tingle, thank you very much. People living along the line of the

:04:04. > :04:06.proposed High Speed 2 railway in Yorkshire have told Look North their

:04:07. > :04:10.lives are in limbo until the route is agreed. The consultation ended at

:04:11. > :04:13.5pm today ` but it'll be the end of the year before a definite route is

:04:14. > :04:17.confirmed. There's also a growing campaign in South Yorkshire to have

:04:18. > :04:20.a station in Sheffield city centre rather than at Meadowhall. We'll get

:04:21. > :04:27.the thoughts of the Labour leader, Ed Miliband, in a moment ` but first

:04:28. > :04:31.Spencer Stokes reports. Where exactly should the high`speed line

:04:32. > :04:36.go and where should the stations be built? The government has proposed a

:04:37. > :04:39.railway from London, to Birmingham, Manchester and Yorkshire but the

:04:40. > :04:43.route is not yet definite and for the last year people have been

:04:44. > :04:49.making their voices heard. Here it would run along concrete viaduct but

:04:50. > :04:53.residents say as things stand only six properties would be entitled to

:04:54. > :04:57.compensation. I live at this house here, Spencer, and the proposed line

:04:58. > :05:04.is going to run between the canal and the River and it is on the green

:05:05. > :05:08.strip of land here and it would be the viaduct. This man would be

:05:09. > :05:13.obviously the viaduct from his home, so he is trying to sell. But he has

:05:14. > :05:16.had no viewing. Time is marching on, I want to get on with my life and do

:05:17. > :05:24.other things but I can't do anything. HS2 limited so you have to

:05:25. > :05:28.live within 60 metres of the planned railway to get compensation and they

:05:29. > :05:31.reiterate the route may change. One way of reducing the visual impact

:05:32. > :05:35.would be to bury the railway and Tim the South of England HS2 has

:05:36. > :05:41.announced it will hold more tunnels but tunnels cost huge amounts of

:05:42. > :05:46.money. This government, or any future government, doesn't want to

:05:47. > :05:50.see the price tag for HS2 rise any higher. Further north in Church

:05:51. > :05:53.Fenton residents would like to see HS2 cancels completely and one local

:05:54. > :05:58.estate agent says until people know for certain what is happening the

:05:59. > :06:03.village is in limbo. People have lost control of their own destiny.

:06:04. > :06:10.It is very hard at this stage to put a figure on it. You could see

:06:11. > :06:14.between 20 and 30% wiped off values. Colmcille `` councils have been

:06:15. > :06:20.consulted. Wakefield has voted against HS2 and in Sheffield there

:06:21. > :06:25.is a campaign for us it is `` for a city centre station rather than an

:06:26. > :06:29.interchange at Meadowhall. There would be more jobs. There is a jobs

:06:30. > :06:33.target of 70,000 jobs in the next decade. This would make a huge

:06:34. > :06:38.contribution towards that so surely it has to be in the centre. But

:06:39. > :06:43.Sheffield Central Station would cost ?1 billion more on the idea is not

:06:44. > :06:47.popular in Barnsley or rather. The consultation has now closed. HS2's

:06:48. > :06:50.planners have plenty to think about. But it will be the end of the year

:06:51. > :06:57.before we definitively know the precise route of the new railway.

:06:58. > :07:03.Listening to that was the leader of the Labour Party in `` and Doncaster

:07:04. > :07:07.North MP Ed Miliband. Are you in favour of HS2? We are supporters of

:07:08. > :07:11.HS2 and I am very sympathetic to the residents we heard on your film. We

:07:12. > :07:15.have to make sure it is value for money. We have been concerned about

:07:16. > :07:19.the costs seeming to rise and go up and up over the last few months. The

:07:20. > :07:22.government is supposed to be coming forward with new plans to show how

:07:23. > :07:26.they can get the costs down and we are waiting that because I have a

:07:27. > :07:30.responsibility to make sure that if a labour government is elected in

:07:31. > :07:35.2015, we can pay our way in the world, we get our deficit down and

:07:36. > :07:39.we have got to make sure that HS2 is affordable. That does not help these

:07:40. > :07:44.residents. They cannot sell their homes. For 20 years, they are

:07:45. > :07:48.blighted unstuck. I am sympathetic to that, that is why the government

:07:49. > :07:52.has to get on with it. They must have their new plans in terms of

:07:53. > :07:56.costs and a definitive view on what the cost is going to be. Your

:07:57. > :08:02.Chancellor, Ed Balls, a neighbouring MP, Alec Shell Brooke, a

:08:03. > :08:06.Conservative MP, has tabled a motion for an all `` alternative route but

:08:07. > :08:11.Mr balls says the problem is they plan would increase the cost. Or

:08:12. > :08:14.read deep it is hugely over budget. The priority would be to reduce the

:08:15. > :08:18.cost. He is hugely over budget. The priority would be to reduce the

:08:19. > :08:22.cost. Here's Rick difficult financial situation. We have to pay

:08:23. > :08:27.down the deficit and make sure that HS2 is affordable. Ed Balls is

:08:28. > :08:31.right. They have to find a way to get the costs under control. You

:08:32. > :08:34.have been at a housing development in Pudsey which is nearing

:08:35. > :08:40.completion. Figures show that Yorkshire, 17% house`building has

:08:41. > :08:44.gone up in this part of the world and you are calling for more houses

:08:45. > :08:48.to be built if you get into power. In that region, in Pudsey, a few

:08:49. > :08:52.miles down the road, loads of protests about building on

:08:53. > :08:56.greenfield sights. If you get into power are you going to build on

:08:57. > :08:59.green belt? We think it should be brown field first. That should be

:09:00. > :09:04.the priority for new building. We have been talking about our plan to

:09:05. > :09:07.get 200,000 homes a year built by the end of the next Parliament

:09:08. > :09:11.across the country because the reality is what we are falling

:09:12. > :09:16.behind with the demand for new homes. We have a problem, we are not

:09:17. > :09:19.building enough houses. How do we build more? First of all we cannot

:09:20. > :09:23.let developers sit on land in the way they do. When it has planning

:09:24. > :09:28.permission they wait until it accumulates in value. We say

:09:29. > :09:33.councils should have the power to say use it or lose it, don't sit on

:09:34. > :09:36.the land. Secondly, we have to take seriously the issue of councils who

:09:37. > :09:41.want to expand, like York, who find there are barriers in their way. A

:09:42. > :09:46.lot of places people do want the homes to be built and councils are

:09:47. > :09:51.finding big obstacles in their way. Places like Pudsey and Manston

:09:52. > :09:55.nearby, they are seeing hundreds of homes being built on land that they

:09:56. > :09:58.want protected. They want it to be green spaces. You will not win votes

:09:59. > :10:02.if you start building on the green belt, will you? There are plans to

:10:03. > :10:05.make sure that if any building takes place on greenfield land that you

:10:06. > :10:08.preserve the amount of greenfield land there is Ulster we have a

:10:09. > :10:13.problem in this country which is we are not building enough homes and

:10:14. > :10:16.that young families can't afford to rent or buy homes. People stay

:10:17. > :10:21.living with their parents much longer than they used to. We have to

:10:22. > :10:24.make progress. It is what parts `` it is part of what Labour has been

:10:25. > :10:30.talking about, the cost of living crisis. I am determined whether it

:10:31. > :10:33.is on housing, and energy price freeze or better childcare to take

:10:34. > :10:38.action and that is what Labour government would do. I want to talk

:10:39. > :10:42.about immigration. We will ask your views in a moment. I want you to

:10:43. > :10:46.look at this. This is what we asked people on the streets of Barnsley

:10:47. > :10:51.today. The town centre has got more immigrants in it than actual people

:10:52. > :10:55.shopping. I think they should be more like Australia and other

:10:56. > :11:00.countries and limit it and let them come in if they have money and jobs.

:11:01. > :11:05.When people go into classrooms, there are 40 and it is the worst

:11:06. > :11:08.education anywhere. Things need to get better, not worse. What are you

:11:09. > :11:13.going to do about immigration? You got it wrong during your term in

:11:14. > :11:18.power, didn't you? I have changed Labour's view on immigration. I am

:11:19. > :11:21.the son of immigrants and we have to welcome people in if they make a

:11:22. > :11:25.contribution and it has to be fair. Proper control of our borders,

:11:26. > :11:29.incredibly important. People integrated into our country,

:11:30. > :11:32.learning English. Thirdly, this is really important and in my

:11:33. > :11:36.constituency it is a concern, we can't have people coming in and

:11:37. > :11:39.undercutting the wages of people here, British citizens, because

:11:40. > :11:44.people come in and are paid less than the minimum wage, 15 people put

:11:45. > :11:47.in a house. We have to stop those abuses of the system. I will not

:11:48. > :11:52.make false promises on immigration because people are fed up of

:11:53. > :11:56.politicians doing that but there are things we can do and it is a changed

:11:57. > :12:00.Labour party when it comes to immigration. We have learned our

:12:01. > :12:05.lesson. We allowed too many people to come in in 2004, when Poland came

:12:06. > :12:08.into the European Union, and we have learned our lesson on that and of

:12:09. > :12:13.course we need to welcome people who can make a contribution but it has

:12:14. > :12:16.to be fair as properly controlled. You are talking about what you would

:12:17. > :12:21.do if you got into power. The opinion poles are not great. One

:12:22. > :12:25.points ahead, not long to the general election. Your party seems

:12:26. > :12:35.popular but are you a liability? I don't spend my time looking at the

:12:36. > :12:37.opinion poles. I'd look at what has happened to people's living

:12:38. > :12:40.standards and they have been falling. I am talking about how we

:12:41. > :12:43.can make a difference. You face ups and downs, the main thing is to talk

:12:44. > :12:47.about the issues people are concerned about because too much of

:12:48. > :12:50.is focused on the ins and outs of Westminster and we need to be

:12:51. > :12:55.focused on the issues of people's lives and that is where Labour's

:12:56. > :13:01.focus will be. Thanks for coming in. Thank you. Later on Look North,

:13:02. > :13:04.could this be the future owner of Leeds United? Massimo Cellino is

:13:05. > :13:10.rumoured to be ahead in the club's takeover battle but he comes with

:13:11. > :13:13.two convictions for fraud. A 25`year`old former soldier Jeremy

:13:14. > :13:16.Green has accepted the unlawful killing of an estate agency worker

:13:17. > :13:21.and the unlawful injuring of her colleague in York last October. The

:13:22. > :13:27.body of Nicole Waterhouse, who was 32, was found in her flat off Leeman

:13:28. > :13:32.Road. Her colleague, 23`year`old Karen Browne, was also found there

:13:33. > :13:36.with serious injuries. Jeremy Green, who lives in Popeshead Court in the

:13:37. > :13:40.centre of York, has yet to answer to charges of murder and attempted

:13:41. > :13:45.murder. The case in Leeds has been adjourned. Almost 150 jobs are at

:13:46. > :13:48.risk in Bradford ` as Thomas Cook announces plans to close its

:13:49. > :13:51.remaining office there. A site in the city centre has already closed

:13:52. > :13:55.and now its office in Birkenshaw could also shut. Back office work

:13:56. > :13:59.carried out there could be moved to Peterborough. A consultation on the

:14:00. > :14:03.idea will now take place, before a final decision is made. An air

:14:04. > :14:06.steward has been jailed for five years for trying to smuggle heroin

:14:07. > :14:09.through Leeds Bradford Airport. Syed Shahrukh Shah, who worked for

:14:10. > :14:13.Pakistan International Airways, was caught with almost ?650,000 worth of

:14:14. > :14:20.heroin, as he came off a flight from Islamabad last November. He pleaded

:14:21. > :14:26.guilty to importation of a class A drug and was today sentenced to five

:14:27. > :14:29.years in prison. Ambulance staff are to go on strike from midnight

:14:30. > :14:34.tonight for 24 hours and for four hours on Monday. It's in a dispute

:14:35. > :14:37.over changes to shift patterns. The Yorkshire Ambulance Trust says about

:14:38. > :14:40.eight per cent of its emergency workforce, those who are members of

:14:41. > :14:44.the Unite union, are involved. The union says the changes to shifts are

:14:45. > :14:47.not family friendly and will lead to an overtired workforce. The

:14:48. > :14:55.Ambulance Trust says patients will be safe. I don't think members of

:14:56. > :14:59.the public will see any significant difference on Saturday and Monday.

:15:00. > :15:03.As I have said I think the vast `` the vast majority of our staff will

:15:04. > :15:06.work. We have the contingencies in place to make sure we move our

:15:07. > :15:11.resources to where the greatest need is. I would ask members of the

:15:12. > :15:15.public if it is not a life`threatening emergency, go to

:15:16. > :15:18.your local walk`in centre, the minor injury unit or ring NHS 111. A

:15:19. > :15:22.massive land and sea search has been taking place off the North Yorkshire

:15:23. > :15:25.coast to find a missing angler. The man had been angling at Hundale

:15:26. > :15:28.Point, near Scarborough, but failed to return home yesterday evening.

:15:29. > :15:35.Our reporter, Danny Carpenter, sent us this report from Scarborough.

:15:36. > :15:40.The search for Nigel Savage began at first light. His wife reported him

:15:41. > :15:44.missing to Humberside police when he failed to return from a fishing

:15:45. > :15:47.expedition. He had been fishing off rocks along this coast line and that

:15:48. > :15:51.is where the search has been concentrated today. They have found

:15:52. > :15:56.his car, they have found his springer spaniel is and some fishing

:15:57. > :16:02.equipment, but so far no trace of him. The area has been extensively

:16:03. > :16:06.searched by all agencies and we have wrapped it up this afternoon for the

:16:07. > :16:11.time being. Until any further information or anything else comes

:16:12. > :16:14.forward. Mountain rescue teams joined the search and there was

:16:15. > :16:18.drama late this afternoon when one of them had to be winched off the

:16:19. > :16:22.beach. He had fallen and dislocated his shoulder happened had to be

:16:23. > :16:25.taken to hospital in the air sea rescue helicopter. Police will make

:16:26. > :16:34.a decision sometime tomorrow as to whether to resume this search.

:16:35. > :16:39.Before 7pm, it is a game many others remember from school. Maybe not

:16:40. > :16:42.you, Phil! It is one of the UK's fastest`growing sports. We will be

:16:43. > :16:46.talking to a member of the Yorkshire Jets, who is on the England team.

:16:47. > :16:50.And school dinners without the stodge. Three cooks go head`to`head

:16:51. > :16:57.in a bid to be crowned School Chef Of The Year. Sport ` and it seems

:16:58. > :17:02.the Italian Massimo Cellino is on the verge of completing a takeover

:17:03. > :17:06.of Leeds United. However a rival consortium, the one headed by Mike

:17:07. > :17:14.Farnan, have hit back this afternoon ` questioning why this deal is being

:17:15. > :17:19.rushed through. Tanya Arnold is here. What is going on? Let's take

:17:20. > :17:23.you back 36 hours when another group, sports capital, headed by

:17:24. > :17:27.Leeds United's managing director seemed to be the driving seat. They

:17:28. > :17:32.finally accepted they could not do it, they did not have the financial

:17:33. > :17:35.backing. We are up to two others. Massimo Cellino, what the front

:17:36. > :17:40.runner and it increasingly looks like the man who is going to put the

:17:41. > :17:44.bidding to get 75%. This rival bid, the one headed by Mike Farnan, has

:17:45. > :17:48.the likes of Gary Verity from welcome to Yorkshire and Adam

:17:49. > :17:52.Pearson involved well. They say we want to do a deal as well, we can't

:17:53. > :17:56.get to talk to Leeds United, so questioning why the other deal is

:17:57. > :18:00.going so fast. The Italian businessman sounds like a colourful

:18:01. > :18:05.character? He is indeed, I notice you did not say his name! He is

:18:06. > :18:11.colourful, somebody who you either love or hate, they say. He has a

:18:12. > :18:15.slightly chequered past. He has convictions for fraud. Accounting.

:18:16. > :18:19.If this deal does go ahead it will have to go to the football league to

:18:20. > :18:22.be ratified and they have a fit and proper persons test which will be an

:18:23. > :18:26.interesting thing. Also a little twist, the man in charge of the

:18:27. > :18:30.football league is the former chief executive of Leeds United, Shaun

:18:31. > :18:34.Harvey. What will it mean for the team and for the manager? Let's say

:18:35. > :18:37.the Italian does get through, it won't be good news for Brian

:18:38. > :18:42.McDermott. He has made it clear he doesn't want a manager, he wants a

:18:43. > :18:48.coach. On Tuesday he tried to get his own man into the dugout to the

:18:49. > :18:50.game alongside Brian McDermott. He has behaved I think exceptionally

:18:51. > :18:58.well, anybody outside the game would say he has dealt with a huge amount.

:18:59. > :19:02.Today, he was asked about whether tomorrow's game would be his final

:19:03. > :19:07.game, he had this to say. I have no idea. The only thing that matters to

:19:08. > :19:10.me as the game tomorrow. Every time you are a football manager it could

:19:11. > :19:15.be the last time, that is how it works. You make the most of every

:19:16. > :19:19.single game you have got, especially when you are manager of Leeds

:19:20. > :19:23.United, which is a privilege. He said he did not expect Ross

:19:24. > :19:33.McCormack to be sold, but some others may do. It is transfer

:19:34. > :19:37.deadline day. Yesterday, Sheffield Wednesday side bars `` Arsenal's

:19:38. > :19:46.Benik Afobe. Barnsley have signed Emmanuel Frimpong. The 22`year`old,

:19:47. > :19:49.seen here playing for Wolves, is Danny Wilson's sixth signing since

:19:50. > :19:53.taking over at Oakwell. The Bradford Bulls could be docked points for the

:19:54. > :19:55.second time in two years. This morning they went into

:19:56. > :19:59.administration, though they came straight back out of it under new

:20:00. > :20:02.ownership. They'll now be run by Bradford Bulls 2014 and say they'll

:20:03. > :20:04.continue to work with their creditors. They hope this will

:20:05. > :20:08.persuade the Rugby Football League against a points deduction in a

:20:09. > :20:10.season where two teams will be relegated from Super League.

:20:11. > :20:14.Netball's new Super League season gets underway this weekend and the

:20:15. > :20:17.Yorkshire Jets first game is away to Loughborough Lightening. It's a big

:20:18. > :20:20.year for the sport in this country as it's part of the Commonwealth

:20:21. > :20:29.Games in Glasgow. Joining us is the Jets England international, Natalie

:20:30. > :20:32.Haythornthwaite. You like any other sports person, you have done

:20:33. > :20:37.pre`season and you can't wait for it to get under way? We have been at

:20:38. > :20:43.preseason, so I can't wait for it to get under way. What do you expect to

:20:44. > :20:47.achieve? We want to get into the top four. We have new faces in the team,

:20:48. > :20:51.some new people coming back into the squad, youngsters coming up and we

:20:52. > :20:56.really excited and aiming for the top four by the first half of the

:20:57. > :21:04.season. It is a blend of youth and experience? Yes. You have overseas

:21:05. > :21:08.players? Yes, three from New Zealand and one from Australia. You are part

:21:09. > :21:11.of the England team and the England set`up has gone from strength to

:21:12. > :21:15.strength. We have an intensive netball training centre, there are

:21:16. > :21:20.three of the country. England players can train together

:21:21. > :21:24.throughout the week. It is great. You beat Australia in the test

:21:25. > :21:28.series last year and you have Australia, Jamaica and New Zealand

:21:29. > :21:33.who are the big four. He will be at the Commonwealth Games. How

:21:34. > :21:36.important is that? It is so important to netball because it is

:21:37. > :21:39.not an Olympic sport. The Commonwealth Games is like our

:21:40. > :21:48.Olympics. It is the biggest competition, very important. The

:21:49. > :21:51.uptake is massive. Why has that happened? When you drop out of high

:21:52. > :22:00.school and finish high school you don't tend to continue in sport so

:22:01. > :22:08.the Back To Netball has got people into sport. Do you think you could

:22:09. > :22:11.persuade us back in? I played at school, goal attack, and when you

:22:12. > :22:15.leave school you don't know where to play any more but I love the game.

:22:16. > :22:19.It is great if it is coming back. Definitely. The amount of women who

:22:20. > :22:24.have come back into the sport. A new years resolution, why not give it a

:22:25. > :22:30.go? I was goal defence, so it would be me against you! Maybe we should

:22:31. > :22:34.have a Look North team! This could be tough! Thank you for coming in

:22:35. > :22:40.and good luck for the season. It's one of those things everyone has a

:22:41. > :22:45.story about ` school dinners! Manchester tart was my favourite.

:22:46. > :22:49.Semolina was my favourite. What about the film on the top, the skin?

:22:50. > :22:52.I loved it, a bit of jam as well. Today in Doncaster, three top cooks

:22:53. > :22:56.from Yorkshire schools were stirring up a culinary storm. Each was hoping

:22:57. > :22:59.to be crowned the regional winner of the prestigious School Chef Of The

:23:00. > :23:08.Year competition. Our resident bon vivant of lumpy dumplings is Tom

:23:09. > :23:13.Ingall. Three, two, one, start cooking. Or as we used to say,

:23:14. > :23:16.Ready, Steady, Cook. These kings and queens of their canteens have it all

:23:17. > :23:24.to prove. Representing Maltby, Kevin Hardman. What we create today

:23:25. > :23:28.hopefully we'll take it forward and use it in school meals. The home

:23:29. > :23:33.player, from Donny ` Alison Jones. It has been a good experience so

:23:34. > :23:37.far. You still want to win? Definitely, it is And from the wild

:23:38. > :23:44.lands of Whitby, reckon on Katherine Breckon. A competition. The cooking

:23:45. > :23:48.is serious, you have to get it right. This competition is properly

:23:49. > :23:52.serious. I have had to put all this on so I don't shed hair into a

:23:53. > :23:59.souffle or something. We are a long way from the days of soggy semolina.

:24:00. > :24:03.I have been slicing and dicing and doing processes I didn't know about

:24:04. > :24:06.until this morning. Among the judges today two gastronomes to make a

:24:07. > :24:14.superchef crumble. Kian Lee and Emma Marsh from Kirk Sandall Junior

:24:15. > :24:18.School. I saw your presentation upstairs. I really liked it. What

:24:19. > :24:24.will you be looking for today, do you think? The texture, the

:24:25. > :24:30.presentation. What is the chef at your school like? Nice. Yes. She

:24:31. > :24:34.always asks us if we like it or not so she knows whether to do the

:24:35. > :24:37.recipe again. But how's this for making your dinner money stretch?

:24:38. > :24:41.Kevin, Alison and Katherine were only allowed a budget of ?1.60 to

:24:42. > :24:49.make their name ` in a main and dessert. OK, guys, the winner of the

:24:50. > :24:56.Yorkshire Humber regional final, going through to the national final

:24:57. > :25:00.is... Catherine. Absolutely delighted. I am The winning dish `

:25:01. > :25:03.east meets west turkey bites. Chuffed, in shock. The twizzlers

:25:04. > :25:13.have had their chips ` but nobody else has missed having theirs.

:25:14. > :25:19.It looks gorgeous, that. New Low`macro Spam fritters were my

:25:20. > :25:29.favourite! What was your favourite? I had to

:25:30. > :25:33.take a back`up. My children take a packed lunch. I used to put it in

:25:34. > :25:38.the bin and buy a jacket potato for 12p!

:25:39. > :25:46.This picture sums up this week. It is really rainy out there. It has

:25:47. > :25:50.been great and grim all week. The next picture is not of this week, it

:25:51. > :25:55.is this time last year but I put it in because we have not seen blue

:25:56. > :25:59.skies for a while. Remember that, this time last year? A third

:26:00. > :26:04.picture, a bleak picture, but it is stunning come the Ribblehead

:26:05. > :26:14.viaduct. Please keep your pictures coming in.

:26:15. > :26:20.After the wet and windy of today and tonight, we have had snow in

:26:21. > :26:24.places, our concerns turn to tomorrow morning and the risk of

:26:25. > :26:28.ice, cold temperatures overnight. This is the front that is lingering

:26:29. > :26:32.in eastern areas, bringing heavy rain. Behind it, through the course

:26:33. > :26:36.of the weekend, windy conditions. You can see the tightly packed

:26:37. > :26:40.isobars. You can see the cloud, the area of low pressure spreading from

:26:41. > :26:45.the West. It brought snow to higher ground. It brought a lot of rain. It

:26:46. > :26:49.is lingering in the east, it will clear away, followed by a few

:26:50. > :26:54.showers and drier spells. Our concern turns to icy stretches into

:26:55. > :26:59.tomorrow. These are the values in the towns and cities. Cool in the

:27:00. > :27:08.countryside. The risk of ice on untreated surfaces into tomorrow.

:27:09. > :27:15.It is not all doom and gloom for the weekend. Very windy conditions. We

:27:16. > :27:21.have a warning for ice to start but first, some sunshine. Get out and

:27:22. > :27:24.make the most of it. Careful on slippery pavements. Showers become

:27:25. > :27:28.more frequent and persistent and bring health note as they merge into

:27:29. > :27:37.longer spells of rain in the afternoon. Chilly but not as cold as

:27:38. > :27:44.today. Seven Celsius tropical! We lumpy dumplings will be back on
