:00:00. > 3:59:59almost 80 mph work recorded. In Devon, the storm brought 40

:00:00. > :00:11.millimetres of rain Good evening. Welcome to the late

:00:12. > :00:15.edition of Look North. The parents of Lydia Bishop have tonight said

:00:16. > :00:17.they feel "let down that no`one has accepted responsibility for what

:00:18. > :00:21.happened to their daughter". The three`year`old died when she became

:00:22. > :00:26.caught in a rope left on the slide in the playground on her first full

:00:27. > :00:31.day at York College nursery. Today, the College was fined ?220,000. In a

:00:32. > :00:34.statement, Rebecca Dick and Brad Bishop said "nothing could ever

:00:35. > :00:37.compensate for their tragic loss and they anticipated a more substantial

:00:38. > :01:00.penalty would be imposed". Here's John Cundy.

:01:01. > :01:06.Lydia Bishop was killed when she was unsupervised. She was strangled by a

:01:07. > :01:14.rope on the slide. The jury at the Crown Court cleared Sophie Redhead,

:01:15. > :01:19.the assistant, of any blame. But the judge found at York College in

:01:20. > :01:24.breach of health and safety regulations. He said that York

:01:25. > :01:30.College had a high culpability over the death of Lydia Bishop. Such an

:01:31. > :01:32.accident, he said was both foreseeable and foreseen in not

:01:33. > :01:36.adequately protecting and supervising children on the slide in

:01:37. > :01:43.the playground. The judge continued by saying, I consider that York

:01:44. > :01:47.College were guilty of two serious failings. Those failings were the

:01:48. > :01:50.more tragic because they took place against the generally careful and

:01:51. > :01:56.thoughtful approach to health and safety matters at the college. The

:01:57. > :02:00.nursery never reopened after Lydia's death. Your college said in

:02:01. > :02:06.a statement, we remain deeply saddened by the events of 17

:02:07. > :02:12.September 2012. We are truly sorry and remain committed to learning

:02:13. > :02:18.from these tragic events. The fine imposed on York College today is the

:02:19. > :02:22.final chapter in an 18 month saga since the death of Lydia Bishop.

:02:23. > :02:28.Nursing assistant Sophie Redhead cleared of blame but the college

:02:29. > :02:31.found wanting. Also tonight ` a maintenance worker

:02:32. > :02:35.has been jailed for four years after a toddler fell from the fourth floor

:02:36. > :02:38.of a block of flats in Sheffield. Robert Warner was found guilty of

:02:39. > :02:43.manslaughter by gross negligence at Sheffield Crown Court. He was

:02:44. > :02:47.responsible for maintenance at the flats, where Ryaheen Banimuslem fell

:02:48. > :02:50.through a gap in the safety barrier in 2012. Today, police paid tribute

:02:51. > :02:57.to the two`year`old girl and her family.

:02:58. > :02:59.North Yorkshire Police are asking witnesses who claim they were

:03:00. > :03:02.sexually assaulted by a former Scarborough Mayor to contact them as

:03:03. > :03:06.soon as possible. Peter Jaconelli, seen here with his good friend Jimmy

:03:07. > :03:10.Savile, was a prominent councillor and businessman in the town up until

:03:11. > :03:13.his death in 1999. Last Monday's BBC Inside Out programme said it had

:03:14. > :03:16.spoken to five men who claimed they had been sexually assaulted or

:03:17. > :03:21.propositioned by Mr Jaconelli when they were boys. North Yorkshire

:03:22. > :03:25.Police now say they want to hear from people who took part in the

:03:26. > :03:28.programme. A 34`year`old Rotherham man, David

:03:29. > :03:31.Sindall, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday

:03:32. > :03:34.charged with the murder of haulage company boss Dean Armitage. Mr

:03:35. > :03:38.Armitage suffered serious injuries in an incident outside his home on

:03:39. > :03:43.Skiers View Road in Hoyland near Barnsley in August. He died nearly

:03:44. > :03:47.three weeks later in hospital. Mr Sindall entered a not guilty plea in

:03:48. > :03:50.October and the trial is set to last for ten days.

:03:51. > :03:52.Two young brothers from Doncaster have undergone a pioneering

:03:53. > :03:56.operation at Leeds General Infirmary this morning. Ethan and Kyle Roper

:03:57. > :04:00.have had the UK's first miniature heart monitors fitted as an implant.

:04:01. > :04:03.The monitor can wirelessly transmit any unusual heart rhythms direct to

:04:04. > :04:06.the hospital, which will help diagnose any problems. Cathy

:04:07. > :04:18.Killick's report contains some surgical footage.

:04:19. > :04:23.Brothers Kyle and Ethan are clearly enjoying making medical history. The

:04:24. > :04:27.boys are outwardly full of life but both have recently had unexplained

:04:28. > :04:34.collapses. Perhaps indicative of a heart problem. With Kyle, back in

:04:35. > :04:38.November, he got out of the bath and he got down to the third step on the

:04:39. > :04:45.stairs and he blacked out. He just remembers waking up at the bottom of

:04:46. > :04:49.the stairs. The boys are to be fitted with tiny heart monitors

:04:50. > :04:53.under their skin. They will send data to the hospital so that their

:04:54. > :04:57.heart rate can be monitored. This is the model commonly used now but this

:04:58. > :05:01.is the one that the boys are going to get, much smaller and more

:05:02. > :05:10.appropriate for a child. Do you know what this is? Yes, it monitors your

:05:11. > :05:17.heart. Where is it going to go? About there. Actually, about their,

:05:18. > :05:23.Kyle. The procedure is done about `` the procedure is done under general

:05:24. > :05:36.anaesthetic. You are in `` you are putting it in like chips used for

:05:37. > :05:49.horses and dogs. You try to capture odd days `` odd incidents. But this

:05:50. > :05:53.carries on for three years and in that time, you can capture what

:05:54. > :05:58.happens and get a diagnosis. The boys will soon be up and about. The

:05:59. > :06:01.monitors will show if their hearts need any treatment. If so, the new

:06:02. > :06:04.technology might have saved their lives.

:06:05. > :06:07.Lizzy Yarnold may have won Britain's first gold medal of the Sochi 2014

:06:08. > :06:09.Winter Olympics after dominating the women's skeleton bob, but

:06:10. > :06:14.Sheffield's Shelley Rudman finished in 16th with an overall time of

:06:15. > :06:17.3:56.47 from her four runs. Tonight, Shelley thanked everyone for their

:06:18. > :06:29.support back home and hinted that she may be going on a well`deserved

:06:30. > :06:33.family holiday. With all the wet weather, who can

:06:34. > :06:40.blame her? I hope she picks a sunny spot!

:06:41. > :06:46.Very unsettled, but things will calm down for some day. If a few showers

:06:47. > :06:52.around tomorrow, some of them thundery. This is the pressure chart

:06:53. > :07:00.for Sunday, no fronts to speak of, so a largely dry day. Ice bars less

:07:01. > :07:04.tightly packed. So less breezy. `` isobars less tightly packed.

:07:05. > :07:14.Tonight, showers with longer spells of rain. It will not be particularly

:07:15. > :07:18.cool. Tomorrow, a blustery day to come. We will continue to see

:07:19. > :07:22.showers spreading in. They might be a little wintry over high ground.

:07:23. > :07:30.They could be heavy and thundery too. Towards the end of the day, the

:07:31. > :07:33.showers and the breeze begin to ease. The rain returns for Monday.

:07:34. > :07:37.Here's the summary. summary for London. Let's go to the

:07:38. > :07:46.weather centre to get the national forecast.

:07:47. > :07:49.Our love hate relationship with the weather has become unbalanced this

:07:50. > :07:58.winter, I suspect there is not a lot of love left. Today's storm has not

:07:59. > :07:59.helped. It gave us 20 to 30 millimetres of rain. Snow
