:00:09. > :00:15.Good evening. A Yorkshire MP has said councils struggling with budget

:00:16. > :00:17.cuts should consider selling off their art collections. David Ward,

:00:18. > :00:20.who represents Bradford East, told the Sunday Politics programme that

:00:21. > :00:24.desperate times called for desperate measures. The council leader is

:00:25. > :00:28.opposed to the idea, while Kirklees Council is already considering

:00:29. > :00:32.selling off some of its artwork. Here's Louise Martin.

:00:33. > :00:36.Art, is it creative inspiration or a billion`dollar industry? In these

:00:37. > :00:39.times of austerity should councils in West Yorkshire consider selling

:00:40. > :00:46.the family silver worth more than ?250 million? Among the works in

:00:47. > :00:51.West Yorkshire collections are Lowrys, Henry Moores and Francis

:00:52. > :00:54.Bacons but is now the time to sell? Mehboob Khan is the leader of

:00:55. > :00:57.Kirklees Council. He says whilst artwork is important, they are

:00:58. > :01:02.selling off other assets like buildings and land and selling art

:01:03. > :01:06.could follow suit. Expert advice will help us to make

:01:07. > :01:12.decisions on what we should hold on to and what we could safely sell.

:01:13. > :01:15.The decision will be made in an open and transparent manner by the

:01:16. > :01:19.Cabinet and all the councillors can take part and contribute to the

:01:20. > :01:25.debate around those decisions. But at odds with him is David Green

:01:26. > :01:29.the leader of Bradford Council. He's hit back at suggestions they should

:01:30. > :01:31.part with any of their pieces. It is worth remembering that many of these

:01:32. > :01:33.councils are looking for multimillion pound savings on their

:01:34. > :01:37.budgets. The artwork has been left to the

:01:38. > :01:41.trust of the people of Bradford and we are the guardians of that work,

:01:42. > :01:45.not just for this generation but for future generations, and so have a

:01:46. > :01:49.duty to protect it and ensure it is available as widely as possible.

:01:50. > :01:53.Desperate times call for desperate measures and you cannot have any

:01:54. > :02:01.area of the council's budget or assets where we cannot go. When you

:02:02. > :02:06.are cutting youth services and social care, must look at every part

:02:07. > :02:10.of the council's asset base. Kirklees Council says they will be

:02:11. > :02:18.looking over the summer to see which ones they could sell.

:02:19. > :02:22.Onto sport and Sheffield United have made it to the quarter finals of the

:02:23. > :02:26.FA Cup. The Blades came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3`1. Chris

:02:27. > :02:32.Porter scored in the 90th and 92nd minute at Bramall Lane to secure

:02:33. > :02:34.victory. Their reward is a home quarter final against Sheffield

:02:35. > :02:38.Wednesday if the Owls can overcome Charlton in their fifth round tie.

:02:39. > :02:42.Onto this afternoon's Superleague results. Castleford made a winning

:02:43. > :02:46.start to the season with a 36`18 victory at Bradford. Leeds Rhinos

:02:47. > :02:51.also won comfortably, away to Hull KR. Tom Briscoe scored three of

:02:52. > :02:55.their tries. Wakefield lost 14`18 at Salford.

:02:56. > :02:58.Yorkshire`based Snowboarder Zoe Gillings has vowed to compete in

:02:59. > :03:02.another Olympics despite narrowly missing out on a place in the

:03:03. > :03:05.Snowboard Cross final. The 28`year`old has recovered from

:03:06. > :03:08.career threatening injuries and funding cuts to take part in three

:03:09. > :03:15.Winter Games and her latest appearance had plenty of drama.

:03:16. > :03:19.Faith Wilkinson reports. Fast, furious and not for the

:03:20. > :03:23.faint`hearted. She's gone too big. The Japanese

:03:24. > :03:27.rider has gone down and she almost swept out Zoe's tail.

:03:28. > :03:30.Zoe Gillings, here in yellow, was almost taken out in her snowboard

:03:31. > :03:37.cross quarterfinal but finished third. Through to the next run.

:03:38. > :03:42.Beautiful race. Celebrations but it is straight onto

:03:43. > :03:47.the semifinal and more drama. Battling for second and third.

:03:48. > :03:51.Making a move. A fall for favourite put Gillings

:03:52. > :03:59.neck and neck for third and a place in the final. But she missed out by

:04:00. > :04:03.the narrowest of margins. I thought I had got through at one

:04:04. > :04:07.point as one of the official guys said I was through but it turned out

:04:08. > :04:12.I wasn't. It was a real shame to miss out on the final by that small

:04:13. > :04:15.amount but I rode as hard as I could so that's all I could do.

:04:16. > :04:19.She finished ninth overall and will compete in another Olympics.

:04:20. > :04:25.Definitely want to do another Olympics. No question whatsoever. As

:04:26. > :04:30.long as I can get the funding and results keep coming in, I don't see

:04:31. > :04:35.why not. I'll definitely go for it. A cruel finish maybe, but Gillings

:04:36. > :04:39.is ready to return. Now, if you're an avid Look North

:04:40. > :04:43.viewer or simply interested in many of the services the BBC provides,

:04:44. > :04:47.would you like to have a say in how it spends your licence fee? The BBC

:04:48. > :04:50.Trust is looking for people of all ages and backgrounds from Yorkshire

:04:51. > :04:54.to join its regional audience panel. It meets three times a year, it's

:04:55. > :04:58.unpaid but you do get your expenses. To find out more and get an

:04:59. > :05:07.application pack, simply go to the website or call 0800 092 6030.

:05:08. > :05:12.application pack, simply go to the It was certainly a lovely day for

:05:13. > :05:16.many of us out there and as we go into this evening we will see some

:05:17. > :05:19.clear skies and that will bring a touch of frost here and there. You

:05:20. > :05:23.can see those skies are fairly clear. We will see some frost but

:05:24. > :05:26.the cloud will start to thicken ahead of this area of rain moving in

:05:27. > :05:30.from Monday morning. Temperatures dropping back to one or two degrees.

:05:31. > :05:37.The wind will be fairly moderate from the south`east. It is a wet

:05:38. > :05:46.start to Monday morning. Light and patchy with the odd heavy burst. As

:05:47. > :05:49.we go through Tuesday and on into Wednesday, it stays mostly dry with

:05:50. > :05:55.the chance of a shower here and there. Lots of cloud around. The

:05:56. > :05:59.next rain will be coming in for Thursday.? we are back with the next

:06:00. > :06:14.update at 11:20pm. Good evening.

:06:15. > :06:23.Whilst we are talking about wet and windy weather in the week ahead we

:06:24. > :06:29.will lose the extremes of last week. The first glow of the week will

:06:30. > :06:31.approach overnight. Clear skies will cause temperatures to fall awake,

:06:32. > :06:33.and
