:00:00. > :00:00.worth up to ?2000. That is all from
:00:00. > :00:08.worth up to ?2000. Welcome to Look North. Tonight,
:00:09. > :00:11.we're live in Harrogate at the scene of a large fire. It started in a
:00:12. > :00:15.pizza restaurant, but has now spread to surrounding buildings. Homes and
:00:16. > :00:18.businesses have been evacuated. We'll have the very latest on the
:00:19. > :00:22.ongoing emergency as acrid smoke covers most of the town centre.
:00:23. > :00:25.Also tonight: What next for the takeover of Leeds United as
:00:26. > :00:34.prospective new owner Massilo Cellino is found guilty of tax
:00:35. > :00:39.evasion? It is really sad bdcause there does not appear to be anybody
:00:40. > :00:48.with the right sort of monex and plan in the frame to take this club
:00:49. > :00:51.anywhere. This has been one of the totghest
:00:52. > :00:58.days of my life and I had a pain in my back. Day five and the worst
:00:59. > :01:02.weather yet but the crowds still supported us in the pouring rain.
:01:03. > :01:06.It has been a real honour to be here today and thousands of people have
:01:07. > :01:12.turned out. Tomorrow looks good but the forecast the Thursday is
:01:13. > :01:19.dreadful. Join us live later in the programme.
:01:20. > :01:25.Good evening and welcome to Look North. The centre of Harrog`te is
:01:26. > :01:29.gridlocked tonight, after a fire broke out at restaurant in Harrogate
:01:30. > :01:32.Town Centre. The area is covered in thick smoke and some residents are
:01:33. > :01:35.being put up in emergency accommodation overnight. 18 fire
:01:36. > :01:39.engines are currently on thd scene. The fire broke out at a restaurant
:01:40. > :01:42.in Albert Street. It remains closed tonight, along with the main A6
:01:43. > :01:46.between Robert Street and Cheltenham Crescent. It means that people
:01:47. > :01:51.cannot get to the main railway station from the A61. Our rdporter,
:01:52. > :01:59.Spencer Stokes, is in Harrogate for us tonight. Spencer, what is the
:02:00. > :02:03.latest? Fire and thick smoke could be seen
:02:04. > :02:05.from the centre of Harrogatd. Firefighters from across Yorkshire
:02:06. > :02:11.have spent the day is tacklhng the breeze which started in the kitchen
:02:12. > :02:18.of an Italian restaurant. Wd will call here this morning after a
:02:19. > :02:26.report of smoke. Because of the design of the billing it hasn't
:02:27. > :02:31.spread between the floors. Ht has passed through these areas `nd
:02:32. > :02:40.detected. We have been taking teams into the area to locate the fire but
:02:41. > :02:45.it is dangerous. As you can see the fire started in this restaurant
:02:46. > :02:52.behind me at around 1130 thhs morning and five hours on, the blaze
:02:53. > :02:55.is still going on with around 1 0 firefighters tackling it. Sdveral
:02:56. > :02:59.streets in the scent of Harrogate have been cordoned off most of the
:03:00. > :03:03.day. The flats above the rest and have been evacuated. Tonight, those
:03:04. > :03:07.living there have been moved into emergency accommodation. Luckily,
:03:08. > :03:13.nobody is thought to have bden injured.
:03:14. > :03:22.Our reporter is live in Harrogate tonight. What is the latest? This
:03:23. > :03:26.has been the district with fire burning its way through to
:03:27. > :03:29.restaurants over the last sdven hours. Then into those 13
:03:30. > :03:34.apartments. Those apartments evacuated this morning but some
:03:35. > :03:42.people arriving home tonight finding they have no homes. I am johned by a
:03:43. > :03:50.member from the fire servicd. Can you give us the latest? We `re now
:03:51. > :03:58.attacking this fire from thd birth and that is the safest way of
:03:59. > :04:01.putting water on the fire. Restaurants to experience fhres but
:04:02. > :04:06.why has this one affected sdveral buildings? It is a very old building
:04:07. > :04:14.and we are trying to work ott the layout inside. No plans havd been
:04:15. > :04:19.kept on the modernisation and the fire has got through various
:04:20. > :04:22.panelling is and gaps betwedn floors. That has made it difficult
:04:23. > :04:27.to get inside and deal with the fire. There has been lots of
:04:28. > :04:34.destruction in Harrogate thhs afternoon. Will these streets be
:04:35. > :04:37.open tomorrow? We will be hdre for a few hours tonight to make the
:04:38. > :04:43.building is safe so investigators can get inside to have a better
:04:44. > :04:47.look. There will be pedestrhan access through the street btt we are
:04:48. > :04:54.mindful of the fact that businesses still need to run and some people
:04:55. > :04:59.have been affected by it and the council is working with thel.
:05:00. > :05:02.Yorkshire water says tonight some people in the Harrogate are` may
:05:03. > :05:05.experience discolouration of the water and we should have a better
:05:06. > :05:10.idea tomorrow morning about exactly what damage the fire has catsed to
:05:11. > :05:13.the two restaurants and the 13 apartments.
:05:14. > :05:16.Next tonight, there's furthdr uncertainty for Leeds United fans
:05:17. > :05:20.this evening after an Itali`n court found the prospective new owner
:05:21. > :05:24.guilty of tax evasion. Masshmo Cellino has been fined 600,000 euros
:05:25. > :05:27.for failing to pay import t`x on his luxury yacht. This conviction makes
:05:28. > :05:30.it unlikely that he'll now pass the Football League's Fit and Proper
:05:31. > :05:34.Persons Act, which means he wouldn't be able to take over the running of
:05:35. > :05:42.the club. Tanya Arnold has the story.
:05:43. > :05:46.This is the yacht that could have ended his bid to buy Leeds Tnited.
:05:47. > :05:51.This morning a court found him guilty of failing to pay import duty
:05:52. > :05:58.on it and find him 600,000 duros. He has been think `` found guilty and
:05:59. > :06:01.fined for tax fraud and fast `` that must weigh heavily when the foot
:06:02. > :06:11.league make their decision. He would expect they would reject his bid for
:06:12. > :06:17.Leeds United. Massimo Cellino's lawyered disagrees and says his
:06:18. > :06:23.client will appeal. The verdict does not mean that Massimo Cellino is
:06:24. > :06:30.guilty because in Italian l`w he can only begin day after the thhrd stage
:06:31. > :06:35.of the process. It was at the end of January that Massimo Cellino agreed
:06:36. > :06:39.a deal to take over 75% of Leeds United from the current owndrs. The
:06:40. > :06:43.final piece in the jigsaw h`s been the foot league gratifying that
:06:44. > :06:50.deal. The fans have been left in limbo. This is a sad day for the
:06:51. > :06:54.club because the ownership hssue is in disarray. We know that the
:06:55. > :07:00.current owners are not runnhng the show properly and who knows where
:07:01. > :07:06.the club will go today? It hs really sad. Nobody is in the frame with the
:07:07. > :07:10.right sort of money and plan to take this club anywhere. The football
:07:11. > :07:16.league says it is continuing to talk to Massimo Cellino's represdntatives
:07:17. > :07:22.and cannot comment further. It hopes to reach a decision within ten days.
:07:23. > :07:29.Well Tanya joins us live now. So what does this mean now for the
:07:30. > :07:32.club? Despite what his lawydr says, I cant believe that the football
:07:33. > :07:40.league are not come to count this as a conviction and he will not pass
:07:41. > :07:44.that fit and proper person 's test. The football league is in dhalogue
:07:45. > :07:47.with his English lawyers. That is a big question of what happens next
:07:48. > :07:53.because he has put money into the club and we know that the club is up
:07:54. > :08:06.for sale because there is not enough money there. Is there a plan B if
:08:07. > :08:10.Massimo Cellino does not take over? It goes back out on the open market.
:08:11. > :08:19.He put his bid in in Januarx and we had a bid before then. Masshmo
:08:20. > :08:25.Cellino has put quite a lot of money, around ?6 million, in just to
:08:26. > :08:31.keep Leeds United running. This club isn't losing ?1 million a month so
:08:32. > :08:34.whoever is out there who might be looking has got to have quite a lot
:08:35. > :08:38.of money not just to buy it but to keep it going and pay the w`ges It
:08:39. > :08:44.will be an interesting one when we get to march of who pays thd wages.
:08:45. > :08:51.The managing director said last week the club would not go into
:08:52. > :08:56.administration and he was adamant the club is not in a precarhous
:08:57. > :08:59.financial position. But there is no hiding from the fact they w`nt a
:09:00. > :09:03.buyer so if Massimo Cellino is not going to buy it they need to move
:09:04. > :09:06.fast. The group that had bedn looking at it, group of loc`l
:09:07. > :09:16.businessmen, are still lookhng at it at whether they'd have the kind of
:09:17. > :09:21.money Leeds United needs, who knows? Later on Look North. Turning fat
:09:22. > :09:28.into fuel. How left`over oil from frying pans in Bradford is powering
:09:29. > :09:31.homes in the city. Look North has discovered 14,00
:09:32. > :09:34.council jobs have been lost in Yorkshire over the last thrde years
:09:35. > :09:37.and it's thought 15,000 mord will go in the next three. Councils across
:09:38. > :09:41.Yorkshire tell us they're f`cing their biggest ever challengd and
:09:42. > :09:49.many won't be able to afford to provide basic services. Jamds
:09:50. > :09:53.Vincent has more. Doncaster may have a brand`new
:09:54. > :09:57.theatre funded in better tiles but now the council 's chief exdcutive
:09:58. > :10:00.is watching her budget shrink by half and it is running out of money
:10:01. > :10:05.for basic services. The warning is stark for councils across
:10:06. > :10:09.Yorkshire. The whole of the state is stringing but the local govdrnment
:10:10. > :10:15.the cuts are at a level we have not seen before in my lifetime. They are
:10:16. > :10:18.worse in the North than somd places. It is change beyond anything we ve
:10:19. > :10:21.seen before. Councils have to find things like looking at the children
:10:22. > :10:27.and older people but as mondy gets tight leisure the arts and parks
:10:28. > :10:31.have suffered. They are things that could be handed over to private
:10:32. > :10:37.companies or volunteers. Thd friends of theirs Park have been looking
:10:38. > :10:41.after this part of Doncaster for eight years. It is a passion and a
:10:42. > :10:45.hobby but if the money runs out for council maintenance even thdy are
:10:46. > :10:53.not sure they could take ovdr. We enjoy it and enjoy what we `re doing
:10:54. > :11:05.because the impact is visible but if we felt it was like work it would
:11:06. > :11:07.not be the same enthusiasm. We have to have an honest conversathon with
:11:08. > :11:11.people about what councils can and can't do in the future. One thing is
:11:12. > :11:17.for certain, though matter where you are, things are staying as they are
:11:18. > :11:20.is not an option. As the gap narrows between what our councils h`ve to
:11:21. > :11:26.provide and what they can afford, we're being told that more services
:11:27. > :11:29.will be kept. In other news, exactly five years
:11:30. > :11:32.after York woman Claudia Lawrence went missing, North Yorkshire Police
:11:33. > :11:35.say they're about to reveal new information about her last known
:11:36. > :11:39.movements. The case was reopened by a new team of detectives last year.
:11:40. > :11:42.They're seeking help from the public about two vehicles seen near her
:11:43. > :11:46.home around the time she disappeared. Police believe Claudia
:11:47. > :11:56.was murdered, but her familx still hope she's alive. They are being
:11:57. > :12:01.extremely thorough. It is a completely new team and
:12:02. > :12:09.inexperienced team. Yes, I hope this is going to get somewhere. We can't
:12:10. > :12:13.be too hopeful. Two boys and a man arrested after a
:12:14. > :12:16.suspected arson attack in Doncaster have been released on bail. Six
:12:17. > :12:19.children escaped unhurt aftdr the house on Acacia Road in Skellow was
:12:20. > :12:22.set alight on Sunday evening. The children are thought to be `ged
:12:23. > :12:25.between five and 15. The Unite union has announcdd four
:12:26. > :12:28.more strike days in the ongoing dispute over Yorkshire ambulance
:12:29. > :12:32.workers' shift patterns. Unhte says staff could work ten hours without a
:12:33. > :12:36.meal break on some shifts. Ht fears patient safety could be put at risk.
:12:37. > :12:39.Managers say steps have been taken to maintain safe and effecthve
:12:40. > :12:46.services. The next walk`out of Unite's 375 members is planned for
:12:47. > :12:47.Friday. The Kaiser Chiefs front man Ricky
:12:48. > :12:58.Wilson is in Yorkshire todax Wilson is in Yorkshire todax
:12:59. > :13:01.promoting the band's new album. 'Education, Education, Educ`tion and
:13:02. > :13:05.War' is the band's first album since the songwriter Nick Hodgson left the
:13:06. > :13:09.group. Ricky, who's from Kehghley in West Yorkshire, is also one of the
:13:10. > :13:14.judges on the BBC One talent competition 'The Voice'. He hopes
:13:15. > :13:25.his new role will help the group to sell more records. When I fhrst went
:13:26. > :13:32.on the show, people didn't know who I was but now they have no way. It
:13:33. > :13:36.will be good for business. Ht is partly the reason I did it.
:13:37. > :13:39.One of the bidders to buy the Bradford Bulls has said on Twitter
:13:40. > :13:42.that she doesn't think her offer will be accepted. Mandy Koukash
:13:43. > :13:45.watched the match against Huddersfield on Sunday and said that
:13:46. > :13:49.she hoped to become Bradford's new owner. But in a message on social
:13:50. > :13:52.media site Twitter this morning she said, "I am hearing my bid will not
:13:53. > :13:56.be the winning one". Football now and Sheffield Tnited's
:13:57. > :14:00.winning streak came to an end with a 0`0 draw at Preston last night. The
:14:01. > :14:05.Blades did get the ball in the back of the net but Conor Coady's strike
:14:06. > :14:09.was ruled out for offside. Ht brings Sheffield United's ten game winning
:14:10. > :14:12.run to an end and they are now ten points outside the League One
:14:13. > :14:21.play`off places. Before 7:00pm: It's day fivd of the
:14:22. > :14:24.Tandem Tour de Yorkshire. And it's really starting to hurt as Harry and
:14:25. > :14:26.Amy hit more hills and bad weather in their 250 mile challenge for
:14:27. > :14:39.Sport Relief. Now, do you ever wonder what to do
:14:40. > :14:45.with old cooking oil or fat? Well, Yorkshire Water is collecting all
:14:46. > :14:48.the waste oils. Fat is being used to power homes across Yorkshird in a
:14:49. > :14:51.unique trial taking place in Bradford. In a UK first, Yorkshire
:14:52. > :14:55.Water is collecting waste ohls and fats from homes in part of the city
:14:56. > :14:58.to make renewable energy. The company hopes it will stop people
:14:59. > :15:00.pouring oil down the drains and clogging up the sewers. Emm` Glasbey
:15:01. > :15:05.reports. It is this type of oil caushng big
:15:06. > :15:10.problems down in Yorkshire's sewers. If it ends up being poured down the
:15:11. > :15:14.sink this can be the result. Fat clogging up the system leadhng to
:15:15. > :15:20.flooding and millions of potnds worth of damage. It can be ` massive
:15:21. > :15:30.problem. Last year we had 14,00 call`outs for blockages and around
:15:31. > :15:35.?2 million. Not all of them were caused by things going down the
:15:36. > :15:40.drain but a significant amotnt. So Bradford has been chosen for a
:15:41. > :15:44.unique trial. Sewer flooding has caused problems on 80 occashons here
:15:45. > :15:48.in the last five years and cooking with oils in this community is very
:15:49. > :15:54.popular but now Yorkshire w`ter has given dozens of homes fact that s.
:15:55. > :16:01.Tabs in which oil can be safely pawed away instead of going down the
:16:02. > :16:08.drain. Most households would do it if they are honest. It is so easy to
:16:09. > :16:14.do it. When you look at the locations, it is quite embarrassing.
:16:15. > :16:18.The oil is collected from homes and comes to this tank at a loc`l
:16:19. > :16:26.community centre but what you do with a tank full of fat? Yot turn it
:16:27. > :16:32.into edges a day. For us, it turns into renewable energy. We are taking
:16:33. > :16:38.something harmful in the dr`ins and turning it into something rdnewable.
:16:39. > :16:43.So the fat is being used to power Yorkshire homes. This 1000 litre
:16:44. > :16:47.tank could provide enough energy to run the average house for one year.
:16:48. > :16:53.Or it could power a microwave the 3000 hours or could provide the
:16:54. > :16:58.electricity to make a quartdr of 1 million cups of tea. With more fat
:16:59. > :17:17.and oil arriving at Yorkshire water trick works every day, more homes
:17:18. > :17:20.could soon be joining the trial Let's catch up now with Harry and
:17:21. > :17:25.Amy who've had their toughest day so far of their Tandem Tour de
:17:26. > :17:29.Yorkshire. They're riding all 2 0 miles of the two Yorkshire stages of
:17:30. > :17:32.the Tour de France on a tandem to raise money for Sport Relief. So
:17:33. > :17:37.just to remind you where thdy have been today. They started thhs
:17:38. > :17:39.morning in Harrogate. They've been to Blubberhouses and Addingham,
:17:40. > :17:43.where I delivered Amy some bath salts. Silsden and Keighley,
:17:44. > :17:49.finishing up in Bronte country in Haworth. That means they have now
:17:50. > :17:53.cycled about 180 miles. But it's not all been plain sailing. Tod`y has
:17:54. > :17:57.been tough, very tough. Thex've had rain, they've had hills and now
:17:58. > :18:13.Harry is nursing a very sord back. How are you both coping? Welcome to
:18:14. > :18:19.Howarth. It has been the totghest days so far. If I was going to give
:18:20. > :18:23.up on this challenge it probably would have been today. The rain was
:18:24. > :18:30.incessant and the wind blew us off course. Then we arrived at the
:18:31. > :18:40.Devonshire Arms and a local school gave us ?450. We had a lovely
:18:41. > :18:45.reception in Silsden. The rdception here at Howarth was fantasthc as
:18:46. > :18:50.well. So far we have raised over ?23,000. 3000 of that was in
:18:51. > :18:59.donations along the route today The crowds have been amazing. D`y five
:19:00. > :19:07.100 and 80 miles in and the most difficult days so far. Blubber
:19:08. > :19:14.houses was horrific. It was like having water being thrown over your
:19:15. > :19:21.head. Sydney and live in thdir 0s were waiting for us and thex
:19:22. > :19:25.followed us all the way. The founder of the Tour de France
:19:26. > :19:31.wanted his race to be so hard only one rider could reach the fhnish. It
:19:32. > :19:35.did not quite turn out that way in 1903 or any year since but there
:19:36. > :19:50.were moments today when it seemed this race might be the war of
:19:51. > :19:53.attrition he was hoping for. It is just searing pain at times that
:19:54. > :20:08.cripples you. Then it goes `nd comes back. The rain is not helping
:20:09. > :20:11.either. It is tough today. To the long list of celebrities hurting
:20:12. > :20:23.themselves in the name of charity, we can now add look North's finest.
:20:24. > :20:30.It is often said that cycling is a sport which is all about suffering.
:20:31. > :20:37.The idea being that the riddr cars `` cat `` that can in view of the
:20:38. > :20:41.most pain winds. Harry and @my have been exploring that today. This
:20:42. > :20:48.tandem tour is a juggernaut that cannot be stopped. They are getting
:20:49. > :20:53.by with help from their fridnds I had to bring them a present because
:20:54. > :21:13.they are doing such a brillhant job. And a lot of support from pdople.
:21:14. > :21:21.Are you still alive? No need for that Paul but thanks for brhnging
:21:22. > :21:57.some better weather with yot. I have to admit, I did have a few
:21:58. > :22:02.tears today. Paul, you joindd us for the first time today. How dhd you
:22:03. > :22:10.find it? What an honour. I have never seen so many people. Ht felt
:22:11. > :22:20.like the Queen was going to arrive! The weather conditions were bad You
:22:21. > :22:25.had driving rain and the wind was gusting. I don't know how you got up
:22:26. > :22:29.that hill. We went past a school and the kids had been standing hn the
:22:30. > :22:41.region `` rain to see you. H feel honoured. Then it came to Kdighley.
:22:42. > :22:49.He joins us for five miles of the entire journey and Paul gets us lost
:22:50. > :22:53.in his home town. The producers said to me, we will meet you at Keighley
:22:54. > :23:04.train station but he met Howarth train station. We got there in the
:23:05. > :23:11.end. You will never be allowed to forget that. Then we arrived here at
